Time Difference Between Japan and the Philippines

TL;DR The time difference between Japan and the Philippines is one hour. Japan is one hour ahead of the Philippines.

Time Zones

Both Japan and the Philippines are located in East Asia, but they operate on different time zones. Japan follows Japan Standard Time (JST), which is GMT+9, while the Philippines operates on Philippine Standard Time (PST), which is GMT+8 [2:1]. This means that Japan is consistently one hour ahead of the Philippines throughout the year as neither country observes Daylight Saving Time.

Practical Implications

For individuals or businesses coordinating activities between these two countries, it's important to remember this one-hour difference. For example, if it is 3 PM in the Philippines, it will be 4 PM in Japan. This can affect scheduling meetings, flights, or any real-time communication between the two countries.

Geographical Considerations

Despite their proximity, the slight longitudinal difference between Japan and the Philippines accounts for the one-hour time difference. The Philippines' location closer to the equator means it has a more consistent day length throughout the year compared to regions further north like Japan, which experiences more variation in daylight hours across seasons.

6 hours actually, at least right now, unlike the Philippines we use Daylight Saving Time here in Europe.

But I get the feeling dealing with the time difference, had to deal with it myself for years too. And currently also as my wife is in the Philippines at the moment while I'm in the Netherlands. It's hard at time, and you really gotta search your moment of make time around either person's early morning or late evening.

Ah yes, 6hrs. My bad. Yeah, it’s super hard cos we only have weekends to see each other thru video call because of our work. At 10:30PM my time, i have to sleep and sometimes he will go back to where he stay at 10:30 or 11PM, then when I wake up at 5:30AM, it’s his bed time, so we only have time to talk when he wakes up at 1:30PM his time 😔

Not practical work hours wise. Hindi naman din tayo ganong kalaki na bansa. but if ever it happens people will complain at start but will just get use to it.

The stupid one is China which uses 1 time zone kahit sobrang laki ng bansa nila. Imagine if nasa far west China ka tapos +8GMT ka pa rin kahit nasa line ka ng India na gamit +5:30GMT.

Only about 6% of China’s population live in the western and central areas. 94% live in the eastern side especially on the major cities which aligns to the +8 timezone.

>If you look at the map, some parts of Eastern Mindanao and the Philippine Sea islands are actually closer in longitude to GMT+9, which is the same time zone as Japan and Korea. Meanwhile, Palawan and Western Mindoro feel more like they should be on GMT+7.

Can you show us which map you're referring to?

Timezone is scammy. Used to play a lot also. Then moved to Cow Play, which is even more scammy.

They get pretty bad in terms of layout and quality of machines. Singapore has the worst ones in Asia.

Hopefully they are replaced by real arcades later in time. Bring back 90s arcades. Not these adult gambling centers with pachinko-like games. Always sad to see the Pearl Fishery addicts.

1 upvotes on reddit
kurochan_24 · 3 months ago

The main life blood of arcades has always been fighting games. Well, you can count in racing sims but still. The boom in console and PC gaming with netplay removes that almost completely. The popularity of mobile games and FPS in pisonet didn't help. Even those old, cheap arcades around neighborhoods aren't thriving anymore.

So if you have many toys and snacks… you carry them out by hand. Unless you save 70 extra tickets for your bag haha.

Wanting to keep my streak!: Changing time zones from Americas to East Asia

Posted by Ari-lxra · in r/bereal_app · 1 year ago

So my main Time zone is the America time zone but right now I’m staying in the Philippines for a good portion of time for vacation. I want to be able to post bereal on time to get the extra shots to capture fun moments on my trip; however; I get notifications when I’m asleep.

Although this may be good because some areas I don’t have internet anyway and I may have a chance getting it on time at night (due to jet lag), I wanted to ask is there a chance I could change my time zone at the right time so I don’t lose my high streak

For context, I’m using the website listed to see when East Asia’s BeReal goes off. Do I switch it before East Asia’s “Today” BeReal goes off so I technically take “East Asia’s yesterday BeReal” which is “Americas today BeReal?”

Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance for the help!

Yep this, wait until the bereal goes off in your current timezone before switching

2 upvotes on reddit
BeRealEng · 1 year ago

It's improved since then.

AFAIK the simplest strategy is:
* Take a BeReal today. This BeReal might or might not end up deleted depending on complex things.
* Change timezones while in the "you have posted today" state not the "you're late" state
* Take a BeReal immediately afterwards

Should never break your streak.

2 upvotes on reddit
Ari-lxra · OP · 1 year ago

Oooh okay so as long as I have posted a BeReal in my timezone I’m good to go to change!

2 upvotes on reddit
Ari-lxra · OP · 1 year ago

The thing is I’m already at the Philippines right now so I can’t do the trick of taking it before I fly out. I think I understand the premise but don’t want to misinterpret it.

I was thinking since technically the BeReal for East Asia already went off for Wednesday and still has yet to go off for the current day, I could take the America BeReal (which would be the latest BeReal as well) change to East Asia and it’ll still be marked as “post late”, correct?

Did she even message na she's going to be late?

Because if so, the most annoying thing to me is not even about her being late, it's when she didn't even notify you na she's going to be REALLY late. Not a single call nor text.

That's just very disrespectful.

Okinawa or Philippines for a relaxing, beachy side-trip from Taiwan in early November?

Posted by murphyslaw86 · in r/travel · 11 days ago

My partner & I fly in/out of Taipei on Nov 2 & 15. We want to spend 4-5 days relaxing at the beach during the middle of the trip. We're hoping for a 3 hour or less direct flight from Taipei and under 2 hours travel after we land.

We're willing to spend ~$300 on the flight and $200-$400 per night on a hotel.

We see this primarily as time for relaxation, but access to beautiful nature (beyond the beach) and local culture/food would be a plus.

Based on my research, it seems Okinawa and the Philippines are our best bets.

At first glance, Okinawa seems perfect. Temps in the 70s, cooler but swimmable water. However, most hotels close their pools at the end of October and many beaches will be "closed" too (my understanding is you can visit the beach but there are no lifeguards or services). Okinawa seems to also have beautiful hikes and good local food nearby.

In the Philippines, we could fly to Cebu and quickly get to resorts in Mactan, which are more affordable, pools open year round, and warm water at the beach. However, the weather is more hot/humid and there's a little more rain risk as it's the tail end the wet season. Cebu City also doesn't seem very exciting for visitors, so we'd spend most of our time at the resort (which is fine if it's nice).

What do you think is the best option? Any other destinations we're not considering that could be a good match for what we're looking for?

Hi, Filipina here. Honestly, Mactan Cebu wouldn't even reach my Top 10 beach/island destinations in the Philippines. But because your requirement is it has to be a non-stop flight from Taipei, then that's your only option.

Now if you change your mind and are open to considering destinations through a 1-stop flight, then here are some options you can consider:

  1. Coron: you can stay at Discovery Coron which is a great island property. Coron has great snorkeling destinations. But since it's on an island, you don't have easy access to the town.

  2. El Nido: you can stay at Seda Lio which is a quiet beachfront property but also close to the airport. It's a 15-min tricycle ride to the town, which is lively and has great restaurants and bars. El Nido is a good destination for island-hopping (i love kayaking in the lagoons).

  3. Huni Sicogon: great island property, has access to Gigantes Islands (island-hopping preferably done on a weekday for much smaller crowds). Unfortunately no access to nightlife because it's on an island.

So out of the three above, El Nido might fit most of your requirements because it has access to a lively town, has access to island-hopping, and has a beachfront property close to the airport. However, I don't think there is a non-stop flight from Taipei.

Please also note that for the Philippines AND Okinawa, there could be rainy days in November... but you might be lucky and chance upon sunny days because November is at the tail end of the rainy season.

Beaches in the Philippines are heavenly. If you'd like to relax in the warm water all day, then they're the obvious choice. There are a couple of 5 star beach resorts in Cebu that are amazing, but it's true that apart from that, there's not much else to do in the city itself.

Just make sure to check the weather if you are going to the Philippines. You will not enjoy the beach if there is currently a typhoon (been there once I forgot the name it was a pretty strong typhoon) we only stayed in the hotel watching the storm we tried our best to enjoy what we can in that stormy weather. It is what it is.

Visit Japan or Taiwan?

Posted by [deleted] · in r/travel · 6 years ago

Currently live in South Korea and looking to travel to either Japan or Taiwan for approximately 4 full days, not including travel. Have already traveled to Vietnam (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh), Shanghai Disneyland, Tokyo Disneyland and Bali, Indonesia. However, did not go out into Japan when visiting Tokyo Disneyland.

Would you recommend Japan or Taiwan over each other? Both of which are about 2.5-3 hr flights away.

Also willing to take other recommendations that are a short flight away since living nearby means a cheap/short vacation.

Thanks!

As someone who has done this for both Japan and Taiwan here are my recommendations.

Pick whichever flight works best for you with regards to time and price. I would sometimes take a slightly more expensive flight to maximize my time away.

Be aware that Japan is more expensive than Taiwan so be sure to factor that in.

As for trips. If you choose Taiwan, hit up Taipei (I did 3 days there) and maybe a day trip.

For four days though, I usually did Japan, namely Osaka with trips to Kyoto and Nara. Tokyo also works, and you can check out Kamakura for a day trip.

Enjoy the chuseok holiday.

I second Osaka as a better choice for a short vacation. You get the big city appeal of japan and can also visit Kyoto and Nara extremely easily.

I've been to both Taipei and Tokyo while I was in Korea. They're both great and you can't go wrong with either.

Since it's only 4 days I think I'd recommend Taipei since it's smaller. You could go to Japan again with a bigger trip.

Honestly you could just flip a coin. You'll have fun either way.

Key Considerations:

  1. Time Zones:

    • Japan operates on Japan Standard Time (JST), which is UTC+9.
    • The Philippines operates on Philippine Standard Time (PST), which is also UTC+8.
  2. Time Difference:

    • There is a 1-hour difference between Japan and the Philippines, with Japan being 1 hour ahead.
  3. Daylight Saving Time:

    • Neither Japan nor the Philippines observes Daylight Saving Time, so this time difference remains consistent throughout the year.

Takeaway: If it's 12:00 PM in the Philippines, it will be 1:00 PM in Japan. Always consider checking local times if planning calls or travel, as time differences can affect scheduling.
