TL;DR
Street Fighter 6 is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC [4:2].
Platform Availability
Street Fighter 6 is not console exclusive and supports multiple platforms. It is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, which allows players to choose the platform that best suits their preferences and hardware capabilities [4:1]
[4:2]. This broad availability helps expand the player base and ensures that gamers can play with friends regardless of the console they own.
Crossplay Feature
The game features crossplay compatibility across all these platforms, meaning players can engage in multiplayer matches with others regardless of whether they are on a console or PC [4:6]
[4:7]. This feature enhances the game's accessibility and community engagement, allowing for a larger online scene and more diverse matchmaking opportunities.
Platform Considerations
Choosing the right platform may depend on personal preferences and specific needs. For instance, some players prefer the PC version due to its modding capabilities [5:2], while others opt for consoles like PS5 for enhanced graphics and performance
[5:1]. Additionally, factors such as input lag, resolution, and portability (e.g., playing on Steam Deck) might influence decision-making
[5:1].
In summary, Street Fighter 6 offers flexibility in terms of platform choice, ensuring that players can enjoy the game on their preferred device while benefiting from cross-platform play.
Hey SF team.
I am new to Steam Deck. It seems there are different packages for SF6. I am only interested in playing offline either Arcade or VS with son/friends. What would be the best package for me? I am thinking in terms most characters & fight scenes (rooms). Not interested in any subscriptions or such. Kindly let me know.
Thanks!
The year 1-2 fighters edition just released and will include all current characters for $60. That's going to be the best value if you don't already have the game in some other form.
Warlord_Zap
Thank you! that's exactly the info I was looking for.
Funny, I think that's exactly what I paid in early 90s for SF2 Champion edition in ToysRUs :)
Package? Do you mean versions of the game/downloadable content? I own the base game on Steam and I play on my Steam Deck. I do not have any of the DLC for the game as I do on PlayStation (you can link your account to more than 1 platform, but DLC stuff doesn't carry over). If you are on Steam Deck, I guess it is possible to play offline with friends who are sitting next to you. You can connect your Steam Deck to an external monitor or TV via a docking station. If you mean play online with friends, then you can do that. You don't need to pay a subscription as you would were you to play on console (PlayStation, XBOX, Switch 1/2).
doctorwho,
Thanks, I am on S.Deck and planning to buy SF6 on S.Deck. Sorry if I was not clear.
What I mean there is base game and there are:
Street Fighter™ 6 - Year 1 Character Pass
Street Fighter™ 6 - Year 2 Character Pass
and possibly others?
I don't understand "pass" terminology. Do you get to "keep" these characters, or that is for online and/or subscription thing? My main question is, if there is a single package (including base game) that would include all possible characters / rooms for Steam?
Thanks.
The "complete" package right now is this one.
It includes the base game, with 18 characters plus 8 DLC characters and cosmetics like 4 stages and colors for the default outfits.
To answer your last question.
As for "pass" it's just the word they use for the DLC. It's the correct word because it gives you a "pass" (as in access) to use the characters... because they are in the game, and you can face against players that own them, even though you don't do it yourself.
Watch some youtube videos of the new characters and if they look fun, the 60 dollar version contains all of them. I would hold off from buying now though as the steam summer sale should start in a couple weeks and you can probably save a decent amount of money on it.
I don’t remember there being any packages? I have it on steam deck to. Just download the game.
Welcome, friend!
Which platform are you getting SF6 on and are their any specific reasons why you’re choosing that platform?
Series X. The demo looks fantastic on it. Can’t wait to play the full game.
PC ...dont have to pay extra money to play online.
PS5.
Sega génesis
PS4, because I don't have a PS5 yet. That will hopefully change in the next month.
So I've got an XB SX, and a well above average gaming laptop. Really not sure which too get it on. What would any of you reccomend? This will be my first time ever getting a street fighter game so I can't say I know what I'm doing lol. Thanks in advance
Xbox for resale value, PC for mods
Thanks! And honestly, I don't really care for resale, but the mods are definitely tempting lol
Check SF6 benchmark tool on laptop. If you have stable 60 FPS go to PC imho
Thank you! Will do that
Also there is a lot of arcade sticks for pc, on xbox there isn't cheap options right now
Just don't get it on Series S, it looks horrible because Capcom put 0 effort into the Series S version. Series X is great though. The PC version is well optimised too.
Crossplay for what platform? SFV technically have crossplay. So will it be all consoles+PC
Yes, according to the trailer they posted on Twitter it with be for PS4/5, XBox Series S\X, and PC.
Why would you put “technically” here? SFV straight up has crossplay period.
I would assume it's all platforms.
How do you say this and not specify what platforms are crossplay compatible.
I think its safe to assume it is cross play compatible on all platforms. A lot of games already do this so I think there’s no reason for this game to not do the same.
Could also be Ps4 and Xbone are crossplay with each other while Ps5, Series X/S, and PC are on a separate crossplay server.
wut
SF5 has full crossplay too, it set the standard for it before most other fighting games at the time as well.
Shaping up to be one of the best FGC releases in a while (product-wise), I hope they don't fuck up the gameplay.
Seems cool because they are now taking in account casual players.
Yes!!! Everything I hear about this game just hypes me up more.
This is gonna go a long way towards expanding the playerbase, especially since SF6 isn't console exclusive. People won't have to buy a specific platform in order to play with friends or with a larger online scene.
Hello! I have seen a lot on the new Street Fighter 6 and I am very excited to get my hands on the game!
I have a PS5 and a PC, and I'm not sure if there is any reason to pick one over the other and I was hoping for some feedback. Are there any pros/cons to choosing one platform or the other? Or does it hardly make any difference?
pc for free mods
If you're a person of culture, get it on PC...
PC , free mods
if you plan on using things that aren't ps5 compatible get it on pc, if your pc can't run the game on high settings get it on ps5
I got both bc I want the nice 4k picture on Ps5, but also to play on Steam Deck away from home. If ur rig can handle at settings suitable to ur preference, I'd say just get it on Steam bc lower input lag. The game has crossplay btw.
Awesome, thats exactly what I needed. Thank you!
So i want to get sf6 buuuuuut Im not sure what platform to get it for. I have ps5, xbox series X, and of course pc. I was leaning towards pc or ps5 but idk. I want to know which platform has the most players on it for street fighter games in general. I would assume pc right? Also, what platform will most of you be getting this game on? Thanks everyone!
PC.
Lowest input delay, and its crossplay anyway. It's the definitive platform for FGs.
Not this time around. All platforms have identical input lag this time. (Not sure about ps4 though)
Oop
I did a Reddit search for this question and completely forgot that I would have to renew a PlayStation subscription.
Guess I’ll be getting SF6 for PC!
majority of pro players are on pc from what i've seen since the mid cycle of sfv till now.
PS5 will probably have the biggest player base. But I thought it was cross play.
Love getting downvotes for saying which system I think will have the most players. Fanboys are sensitive.
Ooooo i didnt know the game had cross play. So then i assume it wouldn't matter since i can get matched with other players. Also I just dont want to pay for playstation plus LOL
Yes crossplay exists.
Yeah, but if you go for PS5 make sure you play wired or have really good wifi.
I lost track of how many PS4 users i blacklisted because of shitty connections.
It's a dumb thing to fanboy over. PlayStation getting more players wouldn't even likely be because it's better on PlayStation but, rather, because of investments Sony has made in the FGC (read: EVO). It can even be taken as a criticism of Sony/PlayStation for playing corporate gamesmanship rather than trying to compete on the merits of their products.
I was leaning towards pc more. If i did get on ps5 I would have to get playstation plus, which honestly i dont want to get just to play this 1 game online lol
The problem is it’s extremely easy to cheat in fighting games on PC. Macros are a big problem because to the game it just looks like skilled input. Yes the game has crossplay but that can be turned off.
Pc obviously. Have you seen the mods already made. Chun li thiiiiigggghs bro
I don’t fully plan on playing online competitively but do have a small interest in playing it. Is it difficult to start with and would it be good for offline play only? I might get it on the NS2 but if it’s not the best for casuals, maybe I’ll try on PS5 and decide
By far the best real fighting game to start with (not counting Smash for example).
It has a "story" mode (World Tour) where you can create your own character and level up, throw together all moves from every character once you learn them etc.
Other than that the basics are quite easily learned and are more forgiving than older games.
You can try the free demo and look up World Tour on Youtube. If you like it, go for it.
To be fair smash is a party platform fighter that went competitive..so not the same boat but I feel your point
I played more Smash than SF.
By real I meant more like traditional fighting game.
Absolutely. The game has decent single player content, but of course the meat and potatoes of the game is pvp. I think the real draw of the game (and even the genre in general) is more so about learning than being “good.” Plenty of us have been playing for YEARS and aren’t exactly competitive at a high level
Just learning the intricacies of the mechanics, discovering characters, and understanding the meta is tons of entertainment and only opens up more when/if you get into watching high level play/content creators/tournaments.
All that to say: between World Tour, Arcade Mode, Combo Trials, and smacking your friends around when they come hang out, there’s hours upon hours of offline content as well
for a fighting game, street fighter 6 is probably the best one out there for purely casual players. there's modern controls to help those just trying to do cool moves without all the messy inputs, simple mechanics, and relatively balanced characters compared to other fighting games.
i play offline with my brother all the time and it's really fun in my opinion, so that's good too
Well.. Balanced is debatable. Sometimes certain matches, you have to play some annoying ass guy. Utilize drive gauge, don't waste it too fast unless you're confident for a win.
But, some characters need a little more balance changing man.. Maybe in terms of damage scaling, on certain characters.
Or their speed, and overall playstyle like Ed and Rashid annoying.
Guile, annoying as hell. You can win it just takes so long
Annoying and unbalanced are different things. Realistically, making a game with varied characters and play styles is going to make it incredibly difficult to make everyone equal power level, but SF6 does pretty well. There's a lot of "Top tiers" to pick from if you want to not be limited by character strength, and even if you do pick a low tier you can still climb the ladder. It's about as good as you can hope for in a game.
ed is balanced it’s a skill issue (i’m brand new to street fighter and have no idea what’s balanced or not i just like the funny boxing guy)
The game also teaches you how to play it. It has great tutorials and characters guides implemented. I would say it is the most accessible FG right now. If you are willing to learn. And if your tolerance for frustration is not very low.
yea more than any fighting game
Ironically, ranked match is the perfect place for both casual and competitive users.
Yeah lol that is true. I think they made, casual, so people don't, be nervous when playing.
I mean, it's fun though to sometimes pair with a low rank and constantly beat them. I respect if they rematch 20 times, because it shows they're trying to learn
But now in the cabinet mode. Everyone's fighting that ranked Ai crap
And it’s on PS4…
The only logical explanation is PlayStation paid for them to never put a new street fighter game on Xbox one. This seems worse somehow than a single game. I could see that they are going to continue this tactic with Final Fantasy, and maybe others.
What do you think of it?
XBox one is dead no more consoles being made, pick up rate on S/X is strong so releasing it makes no sense commercially.
PS4 is still being produced and has 120m users so makes sense to release on it from a roi investment.
I don’t think it is for the reason you think it is. Why would they bother porting to a dead console?
it's coming the the base ps4 😑
It is because PS4 still has a large audience (100+ million consoles sold) and PS5 hard to get hold of. So make sense to have it still available for PS4. Xbox One discontinued and Xbox series S/X more available.
It’s very possible that you’re correct, and your answer makes more sense. There are still multiple millions of people on Xbox one though.
If the 50m install base of the One consoles is accurate, let's say SF6 comes out in June next year, it's not unreasonable to expect 25m Series consoles in homes. Better to ignore the One.
I don’t personally see the logic behind this. Why would Sony pay them to keep it off of old gen Xbox rather then just Xbox in general?
Well, my assumption is that the deal was made during street fighter 5 announcement and release.
Because Sony are still manufacturing the PS4 while Microsoft hasn't manufactured the Xbox One range of consoles since COVID.
It's probably because of performance issues. Yakuza 6/Judgment/Cyberpunk 2077 and i'm sure a handful of others, run much worse on Xbox One than PS4. The Xbox One OS takes up a lot of console resources and has slower RAM.
This is my thought. The One/One S is underpowered compared to PS4, and Capcom has more experience with Street Fighter on PS4.
what about the xbox one x

Something to keep in mind, if you want all of the current content there’s no upgrade package to buy seasons 1+2. Gotta purchase those individually.
Game is just doing great, out of all the current fighters it is doing the best overall. I just wish somehow they could increase the team or something to get stuff like costumes and content made faster.
Nah SF6 is insane man! 5 million copies in two years is insane. It’s not just SF but Capcom in general has been on a generational tear since like 2017. Every time I think they’ve peaked, they just somehow go even higher. I’m happy for SF6 and Capcom.
Capcom's new golden age since RE7 even lead to a new Okami and a new Onimusha and they're expanding their workforce when most places had lay offs. It's really crazy how high their hit average has become in quality but especially in sales since.
If this continues more dormant ips might make a return. Curious if Capcom will have the capacity to bring back another dormant fighting game alongside sf6 at its current success.
They gave something to everyone. I haven't played a fighting game with a story mode as good as World Tour since Soul Calibur 2! The fact that they let you live and breath in the Street Fighter world and bond with your favorites still hypes me up three years later. The great casual offerings alongside being good to the rest of the fanbase really made this a knock out of the park.
And the fact they just update World Tour every time they add a new character just makes World Tour that much more fulfilling to people coming into it later. There's now 8 new characters and a few new locations and quests added already.
On the downside this slows down the release of new characters, they could probably squeeze 4 without it, which is a real shame.
I'd happily pay for a real expansion of World Tour as well - a la MK11: Aftermath. I know it's not as big of a priority as characters, but still.
Something to add more replayability - hell, maybe add some version of rogue-lite - where you earn new moves after fights and have to mix and match. Could be good. Could be not good. I'd buy it.
And please, ffs, let us mimic a character's full moveset with our avatar. There's no reason not to.
It’s actually a pretty decent Street Fighter tutorial as well
The update comes from the official sf twitter. Seems like the title is continuing its strong performance which probably ensures continued support for as long as they need till the next title.
For only Chun-Li and Cammy though, stay reasonable.
Yeah, that would be nice, but can't expect that much from such a small team.
On the plus side, despite me myself wanting more characters, I have to say when they release one they really have a great design/personality.
That being said, please add more, please
Game's doing alright.
Here's to another (hopefully) seven years of support. :)
