What Redditors are Saying

Blueprint Locations in Subnautica

TL;DR Blueprints are primarily found by scanning fragments or databoxes located around various biomes and wrecks. Key locations include the Jellyshroom Caves, Floating Island, Grassy Plateaus, and near lifepods.

General Blueprint Acquisition

Blueprints in Subnautica are obtained by scanning fragments of items scattered throughout the game world. Some blueprints can also be found in databoxes. To acquire these, players need to venture beyond the Safe Shallows into deeper areas and explore wrecks [1:1]. Important fragments are often located near lifepods [2:1].

Specific Locations for Early Game Blueprints

For early game blueprints like the Multipurpose Room, players should head to the Jellyshroom Caves or the Floating Island [1:2]. The Mobile Vehicle Bay fragments can be found in the Grassy Plateaus, Aurora, or Crag Field [1:2]. For the Seamoth, waiting for a distress call from Ozzy will lead you to a location with Seamoth fragments [1:2].

Moonpool and Vehicle Upgrade Console

The Moonpool blueprint is typically found in deep trench-like areas filled with electric eel-looking creatures [2]. Once you have the Moonpool, building a Vehicle Upgrade Console will automatically unlock the Prawn Suit Depth Module Mk1, eliminating the need to find a separate fragment or databox for it [4:1].

Using External Resources

Some players recommend using external resources like the Subnautica wiki or YouTube guides to locate specific blueprints. These resources can provide information on which biomes to search and what enemies to expect [3:1][3:8]. However, many players enjoy the discovery aspect of the game and only resort to looking up locations when they become frustrated [3:5].

Community Contributions

Players have contributed by mapping out open map blueprint locations, though these maps may not include areas still under development, such as the volcano [5]. This kind of community effort helps players who struggle to find certain blueprints on their own [5:1].

Where do I find blueprints? [No Spoilers]

ORIGINAL POST

I’ve just downloaded Subnautica and I’ve played for about 5 hours now. I’ve been having a lot of trouble finding blueprints for anything such as the vehicle station, seamouth and the multipurpose room. Though these are only some of the blueprints I can’t find. Is there a set spawn or do they randomly spawn if so where is the best place in or around safe shallows to find blueprints for early game.

Ok there will be a few slight spoilers but this will make your day

First thing is the Multipurpose room, to find blueprints for that, you need to go to the >!Jellyshoom Caves!< or the >!Floating Island!< as they both have a multipurpose room in them

Second is the Mobile Vehicle Bay, just look in some of those crates in the >!Grassy Plateaus !< >!Aurora!< or >!Crag Field!< as they have the most found in those

And finally, the Seamoth, You should wait for the distress call from Ozzy and go to him has there is a few seamoth fragments around his lifepod, or you can just go straight to the >!Mushroom Forest!<

No need to thank me btw

Have you built a scanner yet?

1 upvotes on reddit
KageKnight87 · 5 years ago

First off, blueprints are obtained with the "Scanner" by scanning fragments of the items you find around the game. Some blueprints are found in databoxes instead of fragments, but you're gonna need to leave the Safe Shallows to find anything halfway decent. There are wrecks all around the map that you're gonna have to search as well.

are blueprint fragments location-specific?

Posted by Fizziest_milk · in r/subnautica · 2 years ago

I downloaded the game yesterday and am loving it, i’ve put roughly 11 hours in and as someone who never really jelled with the survival genre before (outside of phases of minecraft), I’m really digging this one

I’m trying to build the moonpool station or whatever it’s called so that I can finally upgrade my seamoth but I can’t seem to find the second fragment. I’m not familiar with location names but I found the first one in a wreck in a deep (400m-500m) trench-like area filled with electric eel looking things

do I have to keep searching specific areas or is it somewhat contextual? like if i’ve made certain progress would these upgrade fragments appear in more places than before?

(also just another quick question, is there a way to map out the world? or do I just have to keep using beacons to mark POI?)

thanks in advance

You remember the map. Blueprints are in certain locations, usually around the same depth. Important fragments are almost always around lifepods.

(No Spoilers) Should I look up blueprint locations?

Posted by Adorable-Elderberry · in r/subnautica · 4 years ago

Hello I’m a new player so excuse me if this is a dumb question. It seems like there’s some really essential blueprints in order to do things like upgrade armor and other useful buffs. Should I just look up where these parts are? On one hand I don’t want to ruin exploring and finding new things but on the other hand I don’t wanna miss something really important. Let me know what you guys think! :)

I only started looking things up when I got frustrated. It’s fun to drive around in my seamoth and discover new things. It’s not fun to drive around on two power cells looking for Cyclops pieces and finding nothing, only to look it up and find out they’re on this obscure part of the map you somehow haven’t found yet... then spend another 40 minutes trying to find that location...

I like the discovery there is in the game. I don’t like getting frustrated by being unable to find things I need to progress.

I cheated one time and spawned in a tablet because I didn’t have one and I was like 20 minutes from my base and I knew I’d never be able to find this place again.

the essentials are often in many locations so id recommend looking up the exotic stuff if you’re desperate but the basics are really easy and rewarding to find on your own.

I’ve had pretty good luck using the wiki for what biomes to look in along with the map of where all the biomes are. It’s pretty useful to see what enemies you may have to face as well

It's all up to you really but in my experience I find it a bit boring after about 40 mins of searching so I usually end up looking it up after a while.

It depends if you find the searching part of the game enjoyable if you don't then in my opinion I think you should just look it up so you can get back to the parts of the game you enjoy

Prawn Suit Depth Module Mk1 Blueprint Location??

Hey guys! I’m newly playing this game. I’ve got my moon pool and my prawn suit - but I can’t find the prawn suit depth module mk1? Anyone know where the blueprints are?

Thanks! :)

You should get it unlocked automatically once you build a Vehicle Upgrade Console in your moonpool. No need to find a fragment/databox.

The real issue is getting your hands on the nickel to build it.

If you still need the blueprint for the Vehicle Upgrade Console, there's a couple places you can get that. Easiest one is just to the E/NE in the nearby grassy plateau area. There's a Large wreck kind of at the north-ish end of the plateau (about 300m NE of the shallows geyser). The databox you want is deep inside, on the lowest level. There's a gap you can sneak in through if the Aurora hasn't blown up yet, but otherwise you'll need a laser cutter to get to it.

Open Map Blueprint Locations

This should be all the blueprints that are found on the open map (as opposed to in caves or dungeons). Please let me know if I missed something or you find an error.

I have not added the locations for volcano yet as the area still appears to be in development and we can't use any of them anyway since they all require you to progress to the next unreleased age in order to even see them.

Great work!! Hoping you might have a lead on the Hover Car blueprint? I assumed the whale drops it but I’ve murdered him countless times with the Anubis potions to no avail. I was able to get him to drop the anti-whale pike (which is available to craft) by chain restraining him with the huge one and breaking his spine(x3).

Different blueprints are found in different biomes, so no biome is “best.”

Best way to find more blueprints? Put down a scanner room and tell it to search for fragments, wrecks, or databoxes.

How do you get blueprints?

Right now I don’t know what to do because I have the tools I need but I can’t make a seamoth so I’m stuck in the areas directly nearby the lifepod. I also met my first Mesmer and it scared the shit out of me.

[No Spoiler] Where do i find the multipurpose room blueprints?

Posted by Moraz00 · in r/subnautica · 4 years ago

I wanna move my base but i want to have the multipurpose room first because building everything in corridors is sad (and I can't build generators in them). But i don't want spoilers, i would prefer some generic indication, like, north west from the cabin, around 600mt deep, in a cave, or something like that. I know is quite annoying to describe a location like that but i love the atmosphere of the game and the fear of navigating unknown waters

There is a cloud that the Aurora's engines are facing, and it never disappears. Go there, explore, and you should find the observatory, exterior, indoor growbeds, and multipurpose room. If you have lifepod 17 and seamoth, there is a purple mushroom area near the pod. Go down there, there should be an abandoned base with it.

It isn't directly under the entrance, but is in that biome.

IthinkIfoundaDog · 4 years ago

If you look in the direction the ship is facing you might find yourself intrigued by a particular formation.

Mountain island to the left of the Aurora a ways. Easier than mushroom caves early on.

LouseyOne · 4 years ago

There are no blueprints, you scan an already built multipurpose room. Keep following the radio signal beacons.

subnauticamap.io is a cool interactive map with wrecks marked. If you want a specific item, check the wiki for where it spawns and then use the map to easily find wrecks. Visiting the Aurora might be a good idea, but to get far you need to have a repair tool and laser cutter, and there isn't a lot of tech (other than the PRAWN and some vehicle upgrades).

Where are blueprint locations in subnautica

Key Considerations for Finding Blueprint Locations in Subnautica:

  1. Biomes: Different blueprints are scattered across various biomes. Familiarize yourself with the biomes to know where to search:

    • Safe Shallows: Early game blueprints.
    • Kelp Forest: Useful for finding equipment and resources.
    • Grassy Plateaus: Often contains wrecks with blueprints.
    • Jellyshroom Cave: Contains advanced blueprints.
  2. Wrecks: Many blueprints are found in wrecks. Use your scanner to locate wrecks and explore them thoroughly. Look for:

    • Seamoth Fragments
    • Cyclops Fragments
    • Prawn Suit Fragments
  3. Data Boxes: These are often found near wrecks or in specific locations. They contain blueprints for various items, such as:

    • Habitat Builder
    • Rebreather
    • Laser Cutter
  4. Scanner Room: If you have a Scanner Room in your base, you can use it to scan for specific fragments and blueprints in your vicinity.

  5. Online Resources: Consider using community maps or guides that detail specific locations for blueprints. Websites like the Subnautica Wiki can be very helpful.

Recommendation: Start by exploring the Safe Shallows and Kelp Forest for early-game blueprints. As you progress, venture into deeper biomes like the Grassy Plateaus and wrecks to find advanced blueprints. Always keep your scanner handy to maximize your blueprint discovery!
