TL;DR Magnetite is most commonly found in the Jellyshroom Caves and the Lost River.
Jellyshroom Caves
The Jellyshroom Caves are frequently mentioned as a reliable source for magnetite. Many players have reported finding plenty of magnetite on the floor of these caves [1:1]
[2:3]
[3:3]. The caves are accessible from the grassy plateaus biome, near the entrance marked by purple mushrooms
[5:1]. Building a base with a scanner room at the top of one of the access tunnels can help locate magnetite more efficiently
[4:2].
Lost River
The Lost River is another location where magnetite can be found. Although not as frequently mentioned as the Jellyshroom Caves, it is noted for having a variety of resources, including magnetite [2:2]
[4:6]. Exploring this area can yield additional valuable materials like nickel and uranite
[2:5].
Mountains Biome
The Mountains biome is also suggested as a potential location for magnetite [3:5]. However, some players have found the Jellyshroom Caves to be a more fruitful option compared to the mountains
[4:8].
Scanner Room Strategy
Using a scanner room can significantly aid in locating magnetite, especially in areas where it blends into the environment [4:1]. Setting up a scanner room in strategic locations like the Jellyshroom Caves or near the Alien Base can enhance your ability to find magnetite
[4:2].
Additional Tips
When exploring deep caves, it's helpful to mark entrances with a beacon or pathfinder tool to ensure you can find your way out [5:3]. This is particularly important in regions like the Lost River, where navigation can become challenging
[5:4].
I’ve looked along the islands but still wasn’t able to find any
Edit: in the original Subnautica
Jelly shroom caves. Go the the degasi sea base 250 and there should be some there
Deep twisted bridges
Jelly shroom caves have plenty
I wasn't entirely sure if this was Spoilers or not but just to be safe...
I'm looking for magnetite to upgrade just about everything. I've looked it up like a thousand times but I just can't find any. I've checked the Sea Traders Path, I've went back to the Sunbeam site, yet nothing.
Please help
Jellyshroom caves and the lost river have a lot of magnetite
I didn't know about the lost river! Thank you so much.
You can also find: Nickel and uranite, and if you want, try building a base in the center using thermal generator for energy
Do jellyshroom caves. There is alot of magnetite, and i always get enough when i play.
Have you tried the purple mushroom caves? Also a scanner room may help if you put it close enough
The purple mushroom caves are where the Degasi base and the crabsnakes are, right?
Yeah, it's my go to early on for magnite.
Yeah, if I remember right theres a lot of magnetite to be found in there if you look closely. It blends in the dark and spawns kinda sporadically
Mushroom cave
Floor of Jellyshroom Caves is always a safe place.
I've been playing this game for quite a while now but can't find any magnetite. I've checked almost every biome apart from the dunes and mountains and found nothing.
Floor of the Jellyshroom caves.
Thank you
Bring a Prawn suit with a drill Arm too there are a couple of big deposits
Mountains biome
jellyshroom caves and next to the mountain spikes are the most reliable ways from what i can telll
Where the heck can I find that stuff? I’ve searched so much and I’ve only ever found 4 in 7 playthroughs. (Only 1 of which I actually completed fully)
The jellyshroom caves are generally where I get mine. I'll build a base with a scanner at the top of one of the access tunnels, and as I get the magnetite I'll expand its scan radius so I can collect all I need for the entire run.
JellyShroom caves and parts of the Lost River
Just about everything is in the lost river.
I swear I found a couple little one off kyanite pieces there one time. Enough for a prawn depth module. Never found em again on another run, even with a scanner room.
I only know that jellyshroom caves have a lot of it
lots and lots in the jellyshroom caves!
They’re much better than the mountains
Yes but then you're in the mountains
Down by the Alien Base on the island, I stick and outpost down there with a scanner and get loads
You really need the scanner for magnetite because it's hard to find in the weeds
I have looked everywhere and I have not been able to find a single piece of magnetite. Where is it?
I think you are able to find them in the grand reef but I’m not 100% sure
Wait until you get the radio call for Lifepod 17. Make sure to explore any big holes in the ground you spot in that general region. Important: mark the mouth of any particularly deep caves with a beacon or pathfinder tool so you can get out again. Some entrances are much more obvious before they become exits!
Ah yes I learned this the hard way I stumbled apon the LR about 4 hours in and started to explore then I ended up spending 30min trying to get out lol
Jellyshroom Caves, if you can find the entrance.
Thanks
From the safe shallows, go towards the floating island. At the beginning of the grassy plateaus biome there is an entrance to a cave with purple mushrooms. Around those mushrooms there is magnetite
Everything id want to Make rn requires magnetite, and I cant find any. Tips, on where I could find it?
Much room caves is pretty good. Bulb zone has a lot and the lost river. I have found some as well in the dunes, if your up for some reapers.
Are the dunes near the crash zone?
Nope
Mushroom caves, mushroom forests (I think), mountain island (I think)
Mushroom caves, as in the place near Lifepod 17?
I think so, they glow blue/purple and have large mushrooms with tapeworms in some, but make sure you have a seamoth, preferably with a depth upgrade and a repair tool
best place for me is jelly shroom caves
Okei
100% mushroom caves
Jellyshroom cave. It's everywhere. Just came back from there last night and filled my entire inventory and my Seamoth's storage with them. It's close to the shallows and not particularly dangerous if you can make the depth.
I just can’t find magnetite anywhere
Closest is Jellyshroom Cave, other than that you have to go pretty far from spawn into dangerous biomes to get it.
Okthankyou
Magnetite spawns most often in the Jellyshroom cave, bring your seamoth down there and either build a scanner room with the HUD chip or just look around for it.
I'm having a frustrating time looking for magnetite. And I'm at a point where it's an ingredient if I want to make any upgrades or new builds. The Mountains and the Blood Kelp Zone are either too deep or infested with leviathan.
Tons of magnetite is in the Jellyshroom Cave. Entrances to that are in most of the Grassy Plateaus, I think one might not have an entrance.
This is the answer, OP. Magnetite is laying all over, and it's (I think) the only biome that has large deposits of it.
I deconstructed my sensor room and moved it down there to target it all
One of the lifepods is near an entrance so you don't even have to place a beacon
With your username and the fact you play Subnautica, you are the pineapple under the sea. You are SpongeBob’s house.
I was too until I built a scanner room. Found like 10+ in a matter of minutes. If you haven't already, I highly recommend building a scanner room. It's unbelievably useful for finding specific resources you need.
Jump into the jellyshroom caves with the prawn suit and drill some ore
Hell you can hug the roof with a non-updated Seamoth, sea glide down to the floor and still load up on magnetite pretty quickly.
Make sure you save first if you do that, I had a crabsnake pull my parked seamoth down below crush depth and it went poof while I was off picking up rocks.
Jellyshroom caves are covered with it. You just can't take a seamoth in there without the appropriate depth module. I mean, you can get an unmodified seamoth in there--the very very top of the cave is just above 200m--but if you make one wrong move, you can crush your seamoth.
There may be one or two in the canyon near lifepod 19 if you don't want to go all the way down into the jellyshroom caves.
Most of the time I just use a seaglide with my ultra high capacity tank and I can get 15 of them before going back to my base which is right outside of the cave entrance in the grassy plateau.
Pink mushroom caves. Can get diamonds and stuff there too
I usually can find it around the precursor gun island, but i'm fairly certain they're plentiful in the Lost River.
Thanks
you should also be able to find them near the mountain island, however i cant find any so im unsure
Uraninite crystals and Magnetite can be found in the caves directly beneath the island. However, there is a lot more Magnetite on the island.
and by that i dont mean i checked a lot, i just got attacked by a warper and a reaper so im not gonna do that
I usually go in the Jelly Shroom caverns below the shallows to get them plenty of that and lithium and diamonds down there in the Shale rocks
Jellyshroom is my haul spot. Close to the life pod, and a seamoth without upgrades will get down to the cave ceiling before hitting 200m crush depth to serve as a diving bell.
I just went Jelly Shroom and gathered up a ton of them.
I hardly ever used JSC, but Lost River has a fair amount.
Seamonkeys will sometimes bring magnetite to you too
This is how I accumulated magnintite during my brief time playing. If you pin a recipe that includes magnetite sea monkeys will hook you up. I just followed sea monkeys around in the deep lily pads until they gave me a dozen or so. Took 5 minutes. I think I pinned the scanner room range upgrade.
I’m not sure how far you are into the story but if you have traversed around the 500M mark you can continue to read this if not, I do not recommend it
The place where I find all the magnetite I needed the entire game was around the red (I think they are called cotton) mushrooms where you can find AL-AN’s skeletal structure, magnetite has changed colors a bit and blends in a lot more to the cave walls now so I found using a mineral detector helped immensely in finding the magnetite around the walls/ceilings hope this helps you!
Oh!! Sorry, but what function is it that adds these yellow circles??
Inside the scanner room go to the upgrade fabricater thing and make the hud chip this will allow you to see the location of everything you scan without the camera
Omg thank you
Sorry no, but I might suggest going a tad bit further...
The Deep Lilypad Caves and Ore Veins in the Glacial Basin are my best source of Magnetite. All the Magnetite on your screen is in the Deep Lilypad Caves.
