Look underwater. There should be caves. Be careful tho, a reaper is close.

Go inside the cave system inside the island. There are outcrops all over the walls with diamond in them.

i dont want to insult you but... are you blind? just go to the caves

One of the two islands has lots of diamonds, gold, and lithium available on it. It can be reached from the moment you start the game. Personally this is my go to spot. You can literally swim there by staying surface level and never run in to a single enemy. Don't dive under the island but rather go on to the land. There are land spiders on the island that do very minimal damage, but other than that it's perfectly safe. You will find "shale" rocks in caves that you can break to get diamonds etc.. I believe it's the sunbeam rendezvous point. Be sure to check your radio in your life pod often as it will give you updated points of interest to visit including this one!

Best place in the game for diamonds is >!the mountain island!<

Jellyshroom cave!

If you can make your way to the island where sunbeam said to meet there should be some easy rocks for diamond there. In the cave system.

Shale outcrops above surface on the northern island. It's safe and has unlimited foot/water

Check the mountain island above ground cave system. You should find brown stones that if you break give diamond and lithium

I found a few in the mountain island just wander around until you find some caves there quite a bit of minerals in there.

There's a wall in the north east mushroom forest, there's a bunch of shale there. Alternatively, in the caves of the mountain island to the north, there is a BUNCH of diamond in shale.

Subnautica was the first game that I got pissed about finding diamond. I needed lithium lol

In the early game, the easiest way to get them is from the jellyshroom caves, sometimes you can find them near the entrances (Shale outcrops).

If U still haven't figured it out 7 months later I would build a scanner room, put it near a beach, and scan for shale.

[Spoiler] try the gun island and the caves near it, they usually have a lot of shale outcrops and if you break enough you will get diamond

The purple mushroom caves right below the starting area have loads of shale outcrops. Break them and you'll get diamonds.

They spawn pretty deep, but u can get them from shale outcrops

(spoilers) at the gun island! there’s a TON of shale outcrops in the caves there

I found so many at this island and it just made the thing that makes you go really fast in water with the battery and went over there being med kits though there’s a bunch of crabs �� and if you go in the cave you can find diamond there are probably other ways but that’s the easiest I think

In the jellyshroom caves, that cave system with pink mushrooms and crabsnakes, there are a lot of shale outcrops, that contain diamonds.

If you can, there’s a lot of shale outcrops in the jellyshroom caves, in which you can find diamonds

Go to the gun island and explore the mountain caves you will find a shale outcrop then break it

Farm those big critters that walk around in herds

Best place is mountain island caves. I would also recommend the mushroom forest to the Northwest and the jellyshroom caves. Diamonds are found in shale outcrops

There’s so much shale for diamonds inside the mountain on the mountain island

The very easy option is to build a scanner room on your base and set it to look for shale outcrops.

The vertical-ish cliff bits to the sides of the mushroom forest are a particularly good place to look.

I'm deliberately not mentioning locations you haven't mentioned yourself, because I don't want to spoil anywhere for you even a little, but suffice it to say there's a good amount out there to find.

Do not stop the search. Collectibles are difficult to find in this game. Even hours spent staring at the screen, scanning every square inch of the yard, is not enough to guarantee you’ll find them. I still have many categories to complete, especially at the resort. I have found all the minerals, photos, and toys. The diamond you search for will show up one day, I hope it arrives soon

It took ages for me to find it then I first found it at the resort. Once I had it I got it twice more in quick succession! The randomness is chaotic!! I’m missing three bugs and when it rains I search like crazy, but to no avail 😔

Yeah! I did find the diamond in mine but it took a long time, probably several generations before I found it. But I think it depends on how often you play the game. I found it during the time when I was really opening the game from time to time.
