TL;DR
Buick Enclave
The Buick Enclave is often highlighted as a standout model in Buick's lineup. It is described as luxurious, comfortable, and spacious, with many users expressing satisfaction with its performance and design [1]. One user mentioned that after test driving various midsize SUVs, they settled on the 2025 Enclave due to its superior quality
[1:1]. Another user noted that their family had a Buick Enclave for 12 years without any issues, emphasizing its reliability
[5:3].
Buick Envision
The Buick Envision is another popular model, particularly the Avenir trim, which has impressed buyers with its luxurious feel and competitive pricing compared to other luxury SUVs [2:2]. Users appreciate features such as heated steering wheels, 360-degree cameras, and park assist, which contribute to its appeal as a well-equipped vehicle
[5:4]. Despite being underrated, the Envision is recognized for offering a more luxurious experience than some of its competitors like the Toyota RAV4
[2:3].
Value Proposition
Buick SUVs are often praised for their value, offering premium features and comforts at a more affordable price than many competitors [5:1]. They are seen as reliable and reasonably comfortable vehicles, though some consider them less exciting compared to brands like Toyota
[5:9]. This balance of luxury and affordability makes them an attractive choice for those who desire a premium vehicle without paying a premium price.
Market Perception and Reliability
Despite their positive attributes, Buicks are sometimes overlooked in the market. Some users suggest this is due to a lack of aggressive marketing and a perception that they are not as exciting as other brands [1:6],
[5:9]. However, they are generally seen as reliable vehicles, with some models sharing platforms with Chevrolet and GMC, but offering a more luxurious experience
[5:5].
Overall, the Buick Enclave and Envision stand out as excellent choices for those seeking a reliable, luxurious SUV at a reasonable price.
We test drove a ton of different midsize SUVs models before settling on our ‘25 Enclave. This car is beyond good yet Buick is not advertising as much? I understand they are catering to the younger generations but damn they did a good job with these new models - luxurious, comfortable and spacious!
Have a 2018 Buick regal essence awd it absolutely rules. Car never sold and my friends make fun of me (I’m 42). Love love love the car
They seem to not market their top of the line models. I have the last generation made lacrosse in America, and there's not a week where I don't see someone break their necks looking at my car as if its a new 2025 car. They never properly marketed the car, and people's reactions prove it.
They made a lot of the Enclaves similar to the lacrosse with the interior and some exterior similarities, so my future will probably be with Enclave due to buick discontinuing sedans in America only.
People who are either shocked that Buick still makes cars or didn’t know that Buick exists.
I have an old timey 3800 LaCrosse but the only cars I like better are newer LaCrosses and the XTS. The newer Encores are growing on me a little they are a lot of car (content not size obviously) for little money.
Also, as a peasant that browses used cars daily and not new ones, it weirdly seems like used LaCrosses are about the same price as used Caddys (XTS)? I can find a cheap-ish, clean sub 100k XTS pretty easily on Autotrader. The last gen LaX is kinda harder to find.
There are next-gen Regals and LaXs in China. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings for them to just put a few of them on a boat. I don’t love the idea of importing them but it’s annoying to know they exist and are being built as we speak (or type) but they aren’t here.
I bought a used Lucerne with the 3800 a few years ago. It's such a fantastic car. I've had the 3800 before, which is the reason I bought the Lucerne. I wish they still made cars like that, I'd buy a new one!
We have the same car, I have seen the same reactions! Not too shabby for a nearly eight year old vehicle.
The Lacrosse is such a good car, that hardly sold.
Never advertised, hardly anyone even knows about it. Insane bang for the buck as there is low demand for them.
The 24' Envista is a dreamy vehicle. But they need to pivot bad. I think if Buick wants to survive in the USA it needs to be GM's performance brand. It's time for a super powered high horse power Grand National EV to compete with the likes of Lucid Air Sapphire or Tesla Plaid
They’re doing decent right now compared to how they were a few years ago. The refresh across their line up has made their sales skyrocket, it’s kind of wild. But I agree, with Chevy no longer making the Camaro, it would be neat to see Buick be the one to produce a high powered car, in a different vein from the corvettes, but with the look of their wildcat front end refreshes. Just based on looks, it could compete with a Porsche.
I love my new Envision !! I do wish the wiper blades would turn on automatically and the lever was lit up as it is hard to figure out the front and back wipers.
Hahaha, yes, all I wanted was AWD and a 360 surround view camera, but now that I have it in my 24 Envision, I want rain detecting wipers! But it's a damn gorgeous vehicle.
I love mine, just wish it had a sport mode and they could have had a killer performance wagon with one tier of a performance engine in it.
I'm not a huge fan of Buick, but my wife's folks has a 2017 of one of these and its held up great. The interior is very comfortable too.
We hit up almost every good, top pick from consumer reports and had her drive it (if we could find it in the lot...) and her top 3 ended up being lexus, volvo and buick! No crv 2023 yet, also no rav4 which she can test drive. did not like benz and the attitude of the salesman. Did not try bmw x3 yet. She said she was really impressed with Envision Avenir! And the price is pretty attractive compared to the other luxury suvs, plus all 5 stars for crash ratings too...
All those are going to be significantly more expensive, and the Buick does have a much more luxurious feel than any Rav 4 (if you could even get one).
It's Buicks best model, apparently quality control on China is better than American models
Buicks are underrated if you’re not into speed or performance imo. Go for it!
American car manufacturers must be desperate. Dropping below MSRP is unheard of in this market
How did you manage to negotiate that deal? Lol I'm interested in a Buick now.
The actual American vehicles folks want (Maverick, Bronco, trucks, etc...) are going for msrp or well above msrp. Buick just isn't a brand folks are clamoring for.
That's crazy- I would have thought it was made in MX alongside the Blazer. Buick's line in China has been in production for something on the order of 22 years, because Buick is probably one of the most important brands to GM in that market.
You had 9 Buick dealerships close to you?
That’s a story and a half lol. The Buicks a steal. Most people buying a German car for the badge anyway
$5200 off of MSRP? Go for it! I'm not too big on GM, but the Buicks are a decent amount more reliable
People think Buicks are more reliable than Chevrolets because they're more likely to be driven by elderly people who don't abuse them, and can afford not to neglect maintenance. There were Impalas with that 3.8-liter pushrod V6 that is still pretty tough, in the same way that there were Buicks with the 3.6 DOHC V6 that had huge reliability problems upon release.
It is almost a joke among my family and friends how me and my husband only drive Buicks. Right now my husband drives a 2006 Lacrosse CXS turbo and he will drive that car until his last breath, he loves that car so much. Right now I’m driving an Envision and I’m ready to get something different. But I say that every time I’m looking for a new car, and always seem to come home with a Buick. I’m always drawn to Buick because I think they generally have nice styling, are reliable, and they seem to balance of luxury and affordability. And I’m never worried about anyone stealing a Buick! I’d like to get another midsize SUV, does not need to be brand new but something new-ish (2023+). Looking for something that is under $30k and I can still get in a nice upgraded, trim level (leather seats, sunroof, good audio, etc.). Do any other brands offer that? Or am I stuck with another Buick?
Truthfully if you like styling of buick I would look at Lincoln and the Nautilus or the Corsair. I loved the corsair if I wasn't getting a truck at the time .
Stick with Buick, I think your price point might make it harder to get a Cadillac XT5 which kinda fits the midsize segment you’re looking for.
Apparently the XT4 shares the same platform as the Envision but I view them as more compact vs midsize. But could be found at your price target.
Stay with Buick. If you need a change get a GMC or Chevy. You won’t like the feel of a foreign car since you’re so used to Buick. I am currently considering a Buick. I think they have done a nice job of modernizing them, even the emblems. Good luck.
Yes. Buick is the pinnacle of luxury. Foreign cars will feel like crap after having a GM. I mean, Buick.
Stick with Buick. Someday they won’t be as available as they are now. Find a good used one if you can.
The Lincoln Nautilus and Lexus RX are the natural competition here.
There are many ways to play these numbers. Some brands say change brake fluid over 3 years in the main guide... others don't. "Lifetime" trans fluid...
Most cars are similar. Do the brake fluid liste or not. Find out spark plug change interval as that varies. Don't rely too much on numbers. I owned a Buick, and Lexus, and Cadillac, and Lincoln. Cadillac XTS has been by far the cheapest over 9 years. No timing belt, spark plugs oncem coolant twice, etc. Even with AWD it has been a breeze. Even so, I needed new struts and to get OE (and they are magnetic ride control) they were a fortune.
Look for reliability with maintenance. Except EVs, all cars are similar: oil, brake fluid changes, trans fluid, spark plugs, coolant, air/cabin filters. Add extra for AWD and nmaybe cvts needing more fluid changes. Consider hybrid battery replacement risk if you keep the car ages. If a car still uses a timing belt (Buick Envista supposedly at 150k) factor that in...
I liked my Buick, but doubt it is inherently cheaper in the long run.
EDIT: I've read extremely mixed things about recent Buick SUV reliability... not enough to really have a sense, but if true, that matters too. Yes, Toyota paint if failing along with some of its V8s. Not slamming Buick, but watch out.
I couldn't tell you because according to the commercial, buick does not look like a Buick, and it is like a good thing. So everytime I look for a Buick, I never see one. "Is that a buick your driving". Of course not because it is a buick that does not look like a buick.
It’s a shame they stopped making sedans. Owned a 2006 and currently a 2013 LaCrosse. Night and day. Close to 100,000 miles, routine maintenance except for a vacuum hose and brake calipers(kept outside and NE winters), and an A/C compressor
Ahem, Buick China says 👋
They do, and they're gorgeous, look up the L7.
Chinese here, those new LaCrosse actually sell pretty well, I saw many of them in my hometown, which is deep Shanghai GM territory, I think the main reason is they only cost 25,000 usd for top of the line model.
If I can find one, next car will be LaCrosse Avenir trim. I feel current one is going to 300,000
My 2013 LaCrosse made it to 208k before it was taken out by a tree branch falling on it and impaling my engine bay into the air intake side. Best first car I could have ever asked for
Yeah legit, they need to start making sedans again. I’m sick of the abundance of crossovers everywhere they look like driving shoes
Indeed. I have been in an Impala. The XTS AWD helps torque steer, and the car is comfortable. Having owned a Lesabre before, the XTS came closest, and other Cadillacs (CTS etc.) seemed less reliable. I tried a 2016 Lacrosse and it was very smooth but felt even smaller, with bad visibility. (17 didn't do it for me either). The MRC is unfortunate but the car has been good. I've had ct5s as loaners and they don;t do it for me, even if they are a "real" Cadillac. At 28k for a 1 year old XTS with 25k miles on it, it was in retrospect a great value.
Unless you bought it used.
Press X to Doubt.
Edit: I'm totally sure a 2017 Lacrosse is worth more than it was new...
Damn some of y'all are dense, this doesn't take a genius to figure out that a nearly 10y/o Impala based sedan didn't age well when considering residual values...
Your local salesperson has a great day when you walk in the door, I'm sure.
It’s odd to see such a gap between Buick and Chevy given 3/4 Buick offerings in the US are shared platforms with Chevy (Envista-Trax, Encore-Trailblazer, and Enclave-Traverse). I wonder if Chevy’s other offerings drag them down.
[deleted]
They’re extremely boring, but objectively good cars. Good features, solid reliability, reasonably comfortable, cheap. Just boring lol
So basically an American version of Toyota?
Ehhhhhh
I would say Toyota’s products are definitely more reliable, better built, and actually more exciting. Buick’s are generally decently reliable, Toyota is top-tier reliable.
What? No.
They're the same cars as Chevrolets and GMCs with a different badge, it's been this way for 30+ years.
With few exceptions, you can buy a Chevrolet version of any Buick for less money.
The pecking order is Cadillac, Buick, GMC, Chevrolet. Almost all of them sell the same cars with a few gaps here and there (no Cadillac version of a Trax or Blazer).
Buick is absolutely nothing special and the only reason I can imagine they still exist is because they USED to be a presigious brand in China. I'm pretty sure that's all done now however.
Realistically, when GM culled Saturn, Hummer, Saab, Oldsmobile and Pontiac, they should have killed off Buick too.
If you want a cheap Buick, buy a Chevy. If you want a fancy Buick, but a Cadillac. If you want a Buick, then you can be one of the eight people in your town who go buy one. Fine if you can get a deal on one, but nothing interesting (now that that TourX is dead).
I would say so but a little more luxurious and moderately less reliable
My mom had a Buick Enclave for 12 years without a single issue. They’re not exciting vehicles but seem to be very reliable and quite comfortable.
I work at a car dealership that sells three import brands (euro/japan/korea) and every kind of used car under the sun… I have driven everything on the road shy of supercars.
When my wife’s basic-ass Toyota got destroyed in a flood, I had to find her a vehicle quickly and decided to buy her the “best deal” on the lot
We got her a 2022 Buick Envision and she absolutely loves it. It is featured to the moon- (heated steering wheel & seats, 360 camera, blind spot, heated mirrors, park assist, great leather, proximity keys, power kick liftgate, wireless carplay, remote start, heads up display, adaptive cruise, etc). It’s very comfortable, it’s sufficiently peppy for her needs and it looks nice if not a little boring. The build quality is very good and the materials feel more premium than certainly Toyota and Honda. Hers is FWD and I wish it was AWD but she doesn’t drive in inclement weather anyway, so who cares- it gets better MPG than the AWD would.
They don’t sell a ton of these in the US, but they sell about a billion of them in China and the drivetrain is proven.
I will say the back up camera in this Buick is the best backup camera I have ever seen in any vehicle at any price period
Wow had no clue Buicks sold well in China.
They are mediocre cars at a good price. Value sells. Go test drive it and see for yourself! I personally thought the envista seats were hilariously uncomfortable. I think it was the headrest that sucked
And the Envista has one of the very smallest mass-production engines available 😁
They are actually the top brand for DUIs lol
It is value. Buick offers more premium features and comforts for a more affordable price than the competition. Plus they have some sharp looking cars recently
Why did Buick drop that nice midsize convertible to build 4 SUV’s that all pretty much look the same?
What’s with the hate for new Buicks? Genuinely asking because I’ve been looking at the enclave
They've been "hated" for years now (granny's old car), whereas they were so popular when I grew up in them. The newer generations don't even know what a Buick is, as there are so few now. The older crowd, which drove Park Avenues (Electras) and LeSabres for decades have moved on to places where cars don't exist. Now it's time to make young people fall in love with these new Buick designs and eventually make the brand popular again. I believe the sleek new lineup will help to accomplish that. I heard that Buick was going to be axed, as were Pontiac and Oldsmobile, but an extremely wealthy Chinese man loved them and helped to keep them alive.
No they are fine cars, I’m just bummed they got rid of that neat little convertible.
If I was in the market for a crossover I would be all over that Envista. It’s a great car.
The convertible went away mainly because it was literally an Opel with Buick emblems slapped on it… and when GM sold Opel off, they no longer could build it.
For Buick/GM it’s all about where the market is at
Take the Buick Regal Tour X: it is probably the best looking wagon on the road today but was discontinued. Why? It couldn’t even crack 20% of the Regal’s 14,000 models sold in the United States in 2018.
Buick made some brilliant stuff in the 2010’s but consumers moved on sadly. It’s crossovers and SUVs for the foreseeable future. Buick-GMC Dealers can’t keep the Envista on lots so it’s obviously down to modern taste.
Loved the Tour X. The deal beaker was the super narrow seats. The Tour X was European made GM. (Opal) Reliability and parts availability were issues. As I drive my new Korean made Envista!
Was looking at EV's when I walked by an Envista. Couple thousand miles later and it still impresses. A very good value for the price. Long term, we shall see.
I'd absolutely love it if Buick started making sedans again. In general I'd love it if GM as a whole made sedans again, with the Malibu out they basically only have Cadillac to work with and that's not in most people's budgets. I vaguely get why they stopped, but at the same time it feels more like they purposefully treated their own sedans like shit so that people bought them less and they could justify not making them anymore.
That being said the Buick crossovers are kinda nice and have a surprising amount of personality in comparison to a lot of other crossovers that they compete with. Like in terms of style + value the Envista is basically a league of its own in the crossover space, I don't think you can get a better value crossover considering how much cheaper it is than a lot of subcompacts + it looks and feels a lot nicer than what you'd expect. Everything else is either thousands of dollars more expensive, a sedan (aka not a direct competitor) or the Chevy Trax which is essentially the same thing (but louder/less comfortable/in my opinion at least worse design.)
You just explained how I landed on the Envista this past fall. It’s a tremendous value for what it is. If the sedan market had more options like it did a few years ago I’d’ve made a different choice. However, I’m happy with where I landed.
Yeah tbh it's basically the same boat I'm on. I have been looking for a car for a while now and this has been at the top of my list as of late. It's not the perfect vehicle but it's one of the most affordable options for something that fits my needs. Even cheaper options on paper (Corolla, Civic, even the Trax believe it or not) end up being more expensive on a monthly basis from insurance premiums in my area due to theft/claims on accidents etc. It's basically the best option at my budget for a new vehicle, and in some cases a better option than used vehicles which unfortunately still cost a fortune around here and have higher interest rates.
Because of the crossover craze and wanting to get away from their at the time buyers ( dinosaurs) and start selling crossovers with garbage engines and parts that won't last long but the 22 year old kid looks at it and sees LED lights and lots of junk tech to put stars in his eyes . This created a demand for old Buicks and Grand Marquis . So many people are online hunting for them . I bet if the LeSabre or Grand Marquis went back into production they would become the best selling sedan .
Why did Buick drop all of their nice cars and replace them with cookie cutter crossovers? is a better question. Maybe china didn't have crossovers at the time and seen ours in which created a demand for them. That's just a hypothesis by the way.
For context, currently drive a 2018 Jeep grand Cherokee (pinnacle of not reliable) and am looking for a stylish new SUV that won’t give me problems. Anyone have one/know about Buicks dependability?
It's still a Buick though...
Daewoo with a Buick badge. Made in South Korea
Are you 80? If not it’s a poor choice. These have good reliability ratings because people in their target demographic don’t drive much and drive slow. If you treat it like a normal car it’s just more gm garbage.
It’s a GM vehicle. Good rule of thumb is 10 years or 100k miles. They are designed to become money pits after that. Personally, I don’t buy GM anymore.
Someone was saying theirs was rock solid at over 300k miles today
Iirc some new ones have wet timing belts which mean something extra to keep maintained or it could grenade the engine.
REALLY big in China and also Buick is for the mid level professionals that want to look sharp and have some luxury without the cost and pretentiousness associated with Cadillac
Does anyone under the age of 65 drive a buick?
I had an Enclave Avenir company car a while back. All my friends (25-30ish) joked about me driving it until they rode in it and they all really liked it. I liked it as well but outside of a performance car, our gm brands don't matter to me since many of our vehicles share a platform with another brand.
I'd take a Buick if they had a performance one. Personally I think some of them are the nicest looking cars we make.
I do! 2018 Lacrosse and I'm <25 lol. AWD, 310hp V6, adaptive suspension, active nose cancelling, massaging/heated/ventilated seats, and tons more. It feels like a tank that just happens to also be moderately athletic, no idea why they're slept on so much
It is the case. You can find varied datasets, this one is from 10 years ago so it’s a bit outdated. The average Buick customer was 60.3 in 2013. Only Lincoln had older customers
It's the brand that won't die.
I bought an Oldsmobile, they killed it off.
Later I bought a Saturn, they killed it off.
Then I bought a Buick, and they just can't seem to find a way....
What is the envista then? I notice a lot of similar components with other GM vehicles. Among new cars (work at multiple dealers, mostly big 3 and little bit of foreign market, I love it. Makes me think of an upgraded Chevy trax which with the knee ones I wouldn’t complain of owning
Old people fucking love Buicks
Not just them, but they've been a solid conquest brand from other premium brands, like Acura and Volvo, as well as strong with female purchasers.
Also, the average age has been trending downward
Huge in China! It’s a Status symbol if you own a Buick there. Maybe the equivalent to some sort of luxury foreign car here. I know for a while they were buying up all the classic Buicks they could get their hands on.
That is how Buick was saved after the 2009 bankruptcy. The automotive task force wanted GM to only have 2 brands...Chevrolet and Cadillac. The strength of Buick in China spared the Buick-GMC dealer network.
If you’re looking for the best SUV to own right now, the Kia Seltos takes the crown with its bold design, premium features, and fun-to-drive engines. It’s stylish, tech-loaded, and perfectly balanced for both city and highway drives.
Close behind is the Hyundai Creta, known for its strong sales and versatile engine options. The Maruti Brezza stands out for reliability and efficiency, while the Tata Nexon impresses with its 5-star safety rating and EV option.
But overall, the Kia Seltos remains the most complete package in its class.
2025 lexus gx 550 are my top
For daily use, this one has a quiet cabin and smooth ride, and isn’t overpriced.
P
Definitely Kia telluride
I'm a wagon guy. First time I saw one I was driving down 90 and it passed me. I was like...wtf was that? Sped up to catch it... a fucking BUICK!?! When the fuck did that come out... got to my destination and immediately had to look it up... Came very close to buying one when they were discontinuing them.
The buick is a great car. I wanted one those really badly but they never put the 3.6 v6 in the wagon version which is the combonation I really wanted.
Ok yeah I'm going for the Buick. Also adding that I'm trading in my 2016 Audi A3 for this. Great car but just to small for me lately after owning for 5 years. The Opel has that European feel and it's A WAGAON which I love so much. It was hard finding these they are so rare. But thank you everyone for the help. I love this subreddit so much!
Welcome to the club! check out r/tourx and the FB group!
Side notes: The Trifecta Tune is great, and 20" wheels from the Buick Cascada fit perfectly!
Oh please get the Buick. They’re both German cars (the Buick is an Opel Insignia). It’s got way more space and power and it’s an actual sexy wagon.
isn’t buick american?
GM owns Buick. It also used to own Opel, the German arm of GM. This Buick was originally for the European market before it made its way to the US
My 3.6L LFX rocks. Over 300 HP makes my LaCrosse move - incredible how fast it is.
The new Buick envista looks like a less aggressive Lamborghini urus. I was surprised GM chose to give that design to their Buick brand since the brand is almost reserved for old people
They didn't advertise the TourX or Sportback... Imo they half assed the interior bc they knew they were going to drop it after it's lifecycle... When they could have easily made that vehicle along the Malibu/XT4 in their Kansas plant.
I almost bought the TourX but I couldn't get past no ventilated seats or that it was mostly carryover from Chevy. Then I looked at GS but I would have preferred the power increase of the V6 that was in the CTS. Plus the price I was like I'll wait for some other sucker to pay the depreciation. 43k for these was ridiculous imo
What is this, a Buick commercial?
Colours made a huge difference too, I’ve got an Alltrack in red and it looks a lot better than grey. But no denying that is a sexy buick!
best buick suv
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Buick SUV:
Model Options: Buick offers several SUV models, including the Encore, Encore GX, and Envision. Each has different sizes and features, so consider your space and performance needs.
Interior Quality: Buick is known for its upscale interiors. Look for features like premium materials, comfortable seating, and advanced technology.
Performance: Evaluate the engine options and performance. The Envision typically offers a more powerful engine compared to the smaller Encore models.
Safety Ratings: Check safety ratings from organizations like the IIHS and NHTSA. Buick vehicles often come with advanced safety features, but it's good to verify.
Fuel Efficiency: Consider the fuel economy ratings, especially if you plan to use the SUV for daily commuting.
Technology Features: Look for modern tech features such as infotainment systems, smartphone integration (Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), and driver-assistance technologies.
Recommendation: The Buick Envision is often regarded as the best Buick SUV due to its balance of comfort, performance, and technology. It offers a spacious interior, a smooth ride, and a range of advanced safety features. If you prefer a smaller option, the Buick Encore GX is also a strong contender, providing good fuel efficiency and a user-friendly infotainment system.
