TL;DR Consider Lenovo ThinkPad or IdeaPad, Dell Latitude from the outlet, and Acer Swift X for reliable options under $1000.
Lenovo Options
Lenovo is frequently recommended for business laptops due to their reliability and performance. The Lenovo ThinkPad series, particularly the T or P series, is a popular choice among Reddit users [2:1]. These models are known for their robust build quality and excellent keyboards, which are ideal for extensive typing tasks
[5:1]. Additionally, the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5i was mentioned as a good option for those who don't need a dedicated GPU but require solid performance for content creation
[1:1].
Dell Latitude
The Dell Latitude series is another strong contender for business laptops. Buying from the Dell Outlet can provide good deals on open box items, allowing you to get a high-quality machine at a reduced price. A Latitude 5000 with an i5 processor and 8 to 16 GB of RAM can often be found within the $850-$1050 range [1:3].
Acer Swift X
For those looking for a laptop that balances performance with affordability, the Acer Swift X offers a Ryzen 7 5800U processor and Nvidia GTX 1650 graphics card, making it suitable for light design work and multitasking [4:4]. This model provides a good mix of power and portability, fitting well within the budget constraints.
Apple MacBook Air
Although not everyone's preference, the MacBook Air is available for around $800 and offers a sleek design with reliable performance for business tasks [3:4]. It may not have the same level of customization or port options as some other brands, but it's known for its battery life and user-friendly interface.
Additional Considerations
When choosing a business laptop, consider factors such as screen size, keyboard comfort, and battery life. For example, a Lenovo Aura Edition was suggested for personal and side business use [4:1]. If keyboard experience is crucial, the ThinkPad L series might be worth exploring, as it maintains the valued keyboard design
[5:3]. Always check specifications like RAM, SSD capacity, and display quality to ensure the laptop meets your specific needs.
Please guide or suggest me the best business laptop. Mostly work on many tabs on google opened ar same time and some graphics designing. New to laptop buying that’s why asking for suggestions.
Lenovo Slim series any of them or Legion series any of them and then Apple M1 refurbished or used, i have a Slim 7 pro its awesome but going for m1 Mac for more battery life, currently i get 6-8 of hardcore use on this laptop with the 7735hs they have the new efficient one 7840hs just get that.
If in the US, the Dell Outlet has good open box items. So, you could get something like a Latitude 5000 with a new i5 version 13 and 8 to 16 gb of ram. You can expand ram later if the 16 is more expensive. I see $850-1050 all the time on their site for this.
If you want graphic design and also a flat laptop but don't want to game I would recommend an old MacBook
you'd probably have an easier time buying a gaming laptop for the same specs you'd buy a business laptop for; the price premium on business laptop is not worth it, unless you want something super portable. check out the lenovo legion or loq gaming series, they're great in terms of build quality and budget if you're ok without a dedicated gpu, consider the ideapad slim 5i, it has a 13500h and a 16:10 screen which would be more helpful for content creation
Hi folks,
A friend wants to buy a laptop for his teenage son. He will use it for school and not for gaming. He will use it for MS office, social networks, watching YT etc. He doesn't want a McBook.
The thing is he wants a 16 or 17 inch monitor size and his budget is $1000 - $1500.
I would like to recommend him one of those quiet and reliable business laptops.
Would someone be so kind as to recommend some models / brands?
Lenovo Thinkpad T or P series. That seems to be Reddits favorite.
Just Google business laptop brands.
GL M8
Probably anything that’s lightweight, has lots of ports, lots of RAM, and maybe a good display
They're pretty much all the same.
It'll probably have an i5 with some integrated graphics. 500Gb SSD and some USB, headphone, HDMI ports.
macbook airs are at 800 right now. those are pretty dope
Depends what you mean by business needs...if it's just emailing/word/excel etc. a decent i5 would do ya
As the title says I need help! Im looking for a tablet or a laptop for personal/ side business use.
Im well versed in microsoft products since at my full time gig I have a surface laptop.. but I cant mix my day job with my personel and side business usage due to monitoring and strict no personel use policy.
So im now looking for my own device.
I'll be using it for basic needs like web surfing, bill paying, shopping etc. Maybe so hulu etc.
Then business use which consists of manage invoicing through a web interface, some design software, and excell and word etc.
Not looking to spend say over 1000$
I usually like to buy for life but im realistic and know with tech it gets dated quickly.
Any suggestions???
I got my last laptop from an ebay seller with a warranty for less than $500, two years previously it was selling new for $3,500. Dell Precision 7530 touchscreen, Windows 11 Pro.
This is one I might get next, or one like it, with a camera: https://www.ebay.com/itm/197513109415?_skw=precision+7750&itmmeta=01K0T4E6ZPQSHX32P1NNN8SXRD&hash=item2dfcb2dfa7:g:r-EAAeSwJGlobnRb&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA8FkggFvd1GGDu0w3yXCmi1eR0Oa%2BpXSLF5ck6VdYATns0GlaF2BQ373aMCKjgpPPNFDaj8tZoLDT2yy3t6tuCcJKHSRnrDeKpR2t4GGiZxJK%2Bp%2FtBMKsIYiUBn%2FSBUhK9lOSIm%2BG5k4c1zdkIBIXjZr0gvKhz6Lu2RyD4TbAIwz25vz616Zzwd%2BuF1esAVX8qepnp7GSgszbx6g6uhEZjGpV66syk%2F%2BLVwm64jvaPquGGjWj1ALhm8%2But3HuqxcBBSi7ra0jKdW1%2BQmgpZpBfKJrFWKVRM6CyZA%2FZ7IF0ho6tzalktTKSrMQ%2BtZ2UyClfA%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR_bvuMSGZg
I was in a similar spot, and I ended up getting a mid-range Windows laptop. Something with at least 16GB RAM and an SSD. It’s great for everyday stuff and can handle light design work and Excel without slowing down. You can find solid options from ASUS or Lenovo under $1,000 that’ll last a while if you take care of it.
You can try acer swift X has 14 inch, ryzen 7 5800U and nvidea gtx 1650.
Thank you all for the suggestions. I will check all of them out and report back with what I pick!
Recommend Lenovo Aura Edition.
Hello,
I have $1000 budgeted (though could expand that to no more than $1500 to cover extended warranties and certain necessary upgrades if necessary).
I'm looking for a small, light notebook that I can do Microsoft Office work on without 1) ending up in pain from a poor keyboard; or 2) getting undue eyestrain from a dim screen. I'd also like to be able to use it on battery for normal Office tasks and expect 4-8 hours of battery life before it needs a charge.
Gaming would be nice, but is not a priority at all. Whatever GPU is in there ... is in there.
I'm concerned after reading several reviews, which all seem to be focused on graphics or gaming performance or anything but the keyboard. Every time a reviewer says a laptop is excellent but the keyboard is okay at best, I know they're not really doing a work-oriented review. I realize I may be spoiled, coming from a Macbook Pro, but for $1000 I feel like a professional, work oriented laptop should have a rock solid keyboard.
I've also already got eye problems, so having a good screen that I can work at for hours without regretting my life choices is very important.
Thanks for any suggestions!

For keyboard, Lenovo is generally the best. (They kept IBM's excellent keyboard designs!) (This doesn't apply to the Thinkbook as they use a different keyboard design.)
This screen is:
> 13.3" WQXGA (2560x1600) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 100% sRGB, Dolby Vision
Personally I like 1080p FHD screens, but you can always run it at 125-200% magnification in your operating system settings.
See specs
> 56Wh
Not massive, but with the 15W Ryzen 7 4800U, you've got a good shot at getting 6+ hours of battery.
Thanks! This looks very promising.
One thing I'm a bit worried about: the 300 nit screen. My Macbook Pro was 500 nits, though I certainly almost never ran it at full brightness.
I do wish I could get a 1080p display. WQXGA on a 13.3" screen is sort of ridiculous. :P
6 hours is more than enough battery.
Thinkbook line is not Thinkpad, they are like Probook line of HP - a cheaper Elitebook for SME companies .I'm pretty sure their keyboard is not the same.
As a diehard Thinkpad user for over a decade, I value the keyboard experience above all else in a laptop.
I personally haven't used a Thinkbook, but I also believe they do not have the same keyboard and are just leveraging the brand name likeness to market it. Also, it's missing the signature trackpoint mouse.
Instead, perhaps the sleeper, underrated Thinkpad L series could be worth a look. It seems the direction lenovo has been going with the highly valued T line is slimming down as much as possible at the expense of user serviceability.
The L series Thinkpads are built just as tough, but maybe with more use of durable plastic, and less coatings. Despite that they use the same design aesthetics as the T series, but being just a tiny bit thicker. The tradeoff in size means more user serviceability, such as two RAM slots vs the T series, in both the 3.5lbs 14" L14 and 4.2lbs 15" L15. (Which I believe actually both use the same motherboard)
The 1080p screens on these laptops are IPS which maintains good viewing angles without color shifting, and also feature flicker free backlight adjustment without using PWM, which is typically the source of eye strain. Though they are a little lacking in terms of color reproduction at only 45% srgb coverage and just 250 nits of brightness which is just enough for indoor use. The battery life is around 6 hours unless under heavy load (this can be enforced in the BIOS i believe to get more battery life or using Ryzen Controller to limit power).

Here is where you can find configurations of the L15 and L14 with the 4750U, and FHD (1080p) resolution.
https://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-15-6-R7P-4750U-256G-S-W10P/dp/B08F2H1PKZ/
Additionally they seem to have a sale on the AMD version of the X13

Edit:
if you're willing to put the subtitles on auto translate from korean to english, this youtube video does a wonderful job explaining the difference between the L series and E series
Any recommendations, I was thinking the hp pro book x360 435
What makes a laptop a “business” laptop? Just use a gaming laptop for business if that’s what you want to do.
Probably wants something that doesn't look garish.
Pretty much 😂
G14 zephyrus at BestBuy 1099
By business laptop I assume a laptop with a more professional look, not too fancy and flexible.
The Acer Nitro has always been a top pick for people on a budget and still wants a good deal, and Acer delivers that. The Nitro 5 platforms offers some pretty sweet performances at around 1k USD.
Decent 3050ti, good chip that comes either with Ryzen 5 or Intel i5, 16G of ram, 512G of SSD and a 15.6 inch screen. What's cool about it is that it's very easy to upgrade it in the future, with a space for an extra SSD and HDD.
Or, the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming is another good pick, at a price of a little over at 1.1k, it definitely looks more professional than the Acer Nitro line.
Spec wise it's almost the same with the addition of a possible Ryzen 7 chip. The main benefit of its is the build quality.
Thank you for the suggestion 👍🏽
I’m trying to run GTA V mods while in between work stuff while at work haha
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
r/LaptopsDealer ❤ would recommend Lenovo Legion 5 15 Gaming Laptop, 15.6″ FHD (1920 x 1080) Display, AMD Ryzen 7 5800H Processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050Ti, Windows 10H, 82JW0012US, Phantom Blue
And recommend Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15 15.6″ Laptop, 15.6″ FHD (1920 x 1080) Display, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H Processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD Storage, Windows 10H, 82K20015US, Shadow Black
For CAD you are going to need powerful CPU and GPU so I would recommend this Lenovo Legion 5 because it comes with AMD Ryzen 7 5800H 8-Core CPU which is one of the best in your budget and great for your usage, 16GB of RAM for smooth multitasking, Good SSD storage of 512GB for faster boot up and loading, 15.6 inch Full HD IPS screen which is a must have for this price range, it comes with GTX 3050Ti GPU, 100% sRGB coverage and good color gamut, and high build quality.
Here is a more detailed review of it Let me know what you think :)
Go for the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15 82K20015US. This laptop offers great value as it has a strong GPU and an equally strong processor to go with it. This means you will be able to run intense programs meant for CAD, editing etc smoothly. The screen is bright and the colors are decent but for professional photo editing where you will need perfect color accuracy, you might want to use an external monitor. If you take off the bottom panel you can easily add more RAM or storage.
15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) Display, AMD Ryzen 5 5600H Processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD Storage, Windows 10H
ThinkPad laptops. Just go to the official Lenovo website and see which one suits your budget.
Hi, I'm sure that we can find you a durable and reliable laptop. I'd go with the Lenovo ThinkPad E15 Gen 3. It comes with a 8-core Ryzen 7 5700U processor, 8 GB RAM, a 256 GB SSD, and a 1080p 15.6" IPS display. This combination should be solid for Adobe programs, as well as lighter games. Battery life is around 7-8 hours for light use and weighs around 4.3lbs.
Hello, I am starting my own bookkeeping business and I am looking for a great laptop and one that lasts. I've been burned before with my gaming computer, so I would prefer it not be Dell. Their customer service is awful.
Things I need: 10 Key I prefer lightweight bc I travel
Thank you in advance.
Macbook air
I don't think MacBooks have a 10 key and I need to use QuickBooks desktop. I love apple, but they don't work well with QB is what I've heard. Thank you! 😊
The iOS version of QuickBooks desktop absolutely sucks. I had to work with it years ago on a client's computer and it was basically a stripped down version.
Check Best Buy, they have some really good Used deals for these laptops, I got mine out the door for $800 Used and I run a virtual tax and accounting practice.
I have a Lenovo ThinkPad. It is not light, but it has a 10-key, and has held up incredibly well for me.
I use this laptop for my corporate accounting job. It's a great laptop that I have had no issues with. I'm thinking about buying the same if I start my bookkeeping business as well.
LG Gram is one of the only 10-key laptops left. And it’s lightweight — I travel a lot as well and it’s easy to carry.
I like it so much that the last time I replaced it, I bought 2, because I’m worried that by the time I need to replace it again, they won’t make it anymore.
That was one of the laptops I was looking at. I know everyone says to get a wireless 10 key, which I have a keyboard at home, but I don't want to drag my whole set up while traveling. So you haven't had any major issues? I'm an Apple user for personal use, so I don't know much about the best PCs. 😁
No issues at all. And I’ve tried a separate 10-key….i just can’t seem to get used to it.
IMHO, it’s less about your laptop, and more about your set up. Having multiple monitors, and being able to swap from home to even a portable second screen would be extremely useful.
Yes, my home set up is great, now I just need the laptop. Lol. I work for another company and they gave me own computer, which is fine, but as an independent contractor I need my own laptop.
Lenovo Yoga 7i 16"
Trying to find a business grade laptop that is around 10-11 inches, touch screen, attached or detachable keyboard, with cellular. Trying not to go above 3K. Thank you
"A business-grade laptop that’s tiny, touchscreen, and has cellular? You’re basically asking for a high-tech notepad that can send emails from anywhere. I like it.
Your best bets:
📱 Microsoft Surface Pro 9 (5G) – 13", but super portable, detachable keyboard, and has built-in 5G.
📱 Dell Latitude 7320 Detachable – Solid business option, LTE support, great keyboard.
📱 HP Elite x2 G8 – Premium build, touchscreen, LTE, and solid for work on the go.
Finding something exactly in the 10-11" range with cellular is tricky, but I’ve put together a guide on the best laptops for different needs—check it out here: https://eternaltouristreviews.blogspot.com/2025/03/best-laptop-for-gaming-students-and.html
Hope this helps! Let me know if you need more options—I love a good laptop hunt. 🚀
Thank you! This defintely helps me look in the right direction. I was hoping for more recent CPUs so I'll see if I can find something more updated
Am I searching incorrectly by asking for built in cellular instead of searching for one with a sim card slot?
Thank you!
Glad it helped! And yeah, if you're looking for recent CPUs, I'd stick to at least 13th/14th Gen Intel or AMD Ryzen 7000/8000 series—anything older is like buying last season’s laptop (which, let’s be honest, ages way faster than fashion trends).
As for built-in cellular, you’re actually searching correctly, but manufacturers love to label it differently. Look for terms like:
📡 "LTE-enabled" or "5G-ready"
📶 WWAN (Wireless Wide Area Network) – This usually means SIM card slot included
If you find a laptop you like but it doesn’t mention cellular, check if there’s a WWAN upgrade option. Some models (like ThinkPads and Latitudes) have the slot, but you might need to add a cellular module yourself.
Hope that helps! Let me know if you find any solid contenders. 🚀
I think Microsoft Surface Pro 9 with Snapdragox processor support cellular 4G and 5G network. Though, its hard to find 10-11 tablet with latest specs that support sim card slot. Anoher option would be Samsung Galaxy book, but Surface is more reliable and have longer battery life. You can find it on Microsoft website.
Yeah I ended up conceding and getting a business quote for the Surface Pro for Business without the SIM card slot so I could get the Intel chip. Might get just a hotspot for the users.
Hi! I need a computer for work so easy to transport, a computer that I will use for administrative purpose (Word, excel), online meetings (ex.teams, zoom) and for looking video. Thanks in avance!
I would recommend this Acer Swift 3 because it comes with everything you need, AMD Ryzen 7 4700U Octa-Core CPU, 16GB of ram, good SSD storage of 512GB for faster boot up and loading, 14 inch Full HD IPS screen, high build quality, and backlit keyboard.
Here is a more detailed review of it Let me know what you think :)
If it doesn’t need to be Windows, then M1 Air due to the fast performance, long battery and cool thermals of it. Add to that a sharper than 1080p screen, great keyboard and trackpad, speakers.
Hi, I'm sure we can find you a laptop capable of general use. I recommend the Acer Swift 3. It comes with a 8-core Ryzen 7 5700U processor, 8 GB RAM, a 512 GB SSD, and a 1080p 14" 300 nit 100% sRGB display. It should handle general use tasks just fine. It is only 2.65lbs, and battery life should be around 8 hours for light use.
