What Redditors are Saying

Best DC Video Games

TL;DR The Batman Arkham series is widely regarded as the pinnacle of DC video games, with Arkham City often highlighted as the best. Other notable mentions include the Injustice series and LEGO DC games.

Batman Arkham Series

The Batman Arkham series is frequently mentioned as the top choice for DC video games. Arkham City stands out for its engaging story mode and gameplay [4:1], while Arkham Asylum is praised for its unique atmosphere and darkly perfect representation of Batman [4:6][4:9]. Arkham Knight and Arkham Origins are also popular among fans [2:1].

Injustice Series

The Injustice series offers a compelling take on various DC characters, featuring both heroic and villainous versions [1:3]. Injustice Gods Among Us and its sequel are noted for their engaging gameplay and character adaptations [2:1][4:1]. These games provide a unique fighting experience within the DC universe.

LEGO DC Games

LEGO DC games are another popular choice, particularly for their fun and accessible gameplay. LEGO Batman 3 and LEGO DC Super Villains are highlighted as enjoyable experiences [2:3][4:4]. These games offer a lighter take on the DC universe, making them suitable for all ages.

Justice League and Other Titles

Justice League Heroes, although older, is remembered fondly by players as a decent game that provided a fun experience similar to Marvel Ultimate Alliance [3:1][4:2]. DC Universe Online is noted for its immersive experience in DC lore, despite some drawbacks in community interactions [4:3]. Upcoming titles like the Wonder Woman game and Suicide Squad are anticipated by fans [3:4].

Potential Future Games

There is interest in seeing more DC characters get their own games, such as Lobo or Constantine, which could offer unique narratives and gameplay opportunities [5:1]. A Batman Beyond game is suggested as an obvious choice for future development [5:3]. Fans hope for more ambitious projects from Warner Bros to expand the DC gaming universe.

People forget that it's the real, mainline Justice League that take down the Injustice versions. They're all pretty heroic.

Injustice actually does a good job with the version of the characters from the good universe. This works in the first game to juxtapose the evil versions. So as much slack as Injustice gets, Superman and WW did get good adaptations for the first game, just not the ones everyone thinks of when you name drop Injustice

Absolutely. There’s just injustice and the Lego games. Dcuo is also more encompassing than most other titles but you play along with your favorite characters not as them so it doesn’t really scratch the same itch.

I’m hoping we get a decent justice league or titans game eventually because solo games are cool n all but If you want to play as unpopular characters(or a female) team games are pretty much your only bet.

There’s a Wonder Woman game in the works. Be sure to support it when it comes out!

There’s also the Suicide Squad game, but I suppose you counted it as part of the Arkham series.

This is mostly because Warner Bros is the publisher for all DC games and they only have so many studios.

Unlike Disney who basically gave up on game publishing and now they're licensing out their characters to different studios.

If you want to go back to the Ps2 era there was Justice League Heroes. It was essentially DC's answer to Marvel Ultimate Alliance. It was fun, not spectacular, but I did several play throughs and had a good time.

I know Arkham City was the always peak of the Trilogy (and well deserved for the Riddler and Ra's missions alone) ....

But there is something darkly unique, macabre and PERFECTLY Batman about the OG Arkham Asylum game.

I just discovered they did a remaster for PS5 and Im about to go through it AGAIN.
This will be my new christmas tradition (after watching Die Hard and Home Alone)..

OG Asylum makes ALL the other games (INCLUDING Injustice 2) SOOOOOOO much better!

A Lobo or a Constantine game would be groundbreaking. Huge chance of exploration, chances to be good and bad and you get to meet a whole hell of a lot of shady NPCs and do very sketchy side activities. I wish WB would be ambitious enough to try this. But with the mixed reviews and overemphasis on live element of SS kill JL, we might not see them be that brave for another 15 years.

Also Teen Titans do have a game.

Nothing can beat Kingdom Come in my mind. The art beautifully represented the amazing character designs. The story pulled from DC’s established continuity while building on it in logical but sometimes unexpected ways. Even the new characters felt like they belonged in the DCU. It’s the book that brought me back to comics, even though I was raised on Marvel.

I’ve played almost all of them. The best and most interesting ones?

Batman for NES.

Batman Return of the Joker for NES.

Death and Return of Superman for SNES.

Justice League Task Force for SNES and Genesis.

The Adventures of Batman and Robin for SNES, Genesis and Sega CD. The Sega CD game is a great driving game with basically an episode’s worth of original animation.

Batman Returns for SNES.

Justice League Heroes for PS2. Great game, one of the best DC games.

Batman Vengeance and Superman: Shadow of Apokolips for PS2. Really fun games that capture the essence of the animated series they are based on.

Aquaman for Xbox. It shows up on a lot of worst lists but honestly I liked it. Fighting sections are lame but there are passable ship combat sections.

The Flash for Gameboy Advance. Better than a handheld licensed game needed to be.

Batman Begins for PS2. Different take the Arkham Series. Lots of emphasis on putting fear in enemies.

Superman Returns for Xbox 360. Not a perfect game but it’s fun to fly around with and has some neat ideas.

Of course the Arkham stuff. I liked Gotham Knights too.

At this point I wish WB would license out the DC stuff to studios who want to make games. Disney have done this for years with their properties and arguably the Marvel games are having a great time of it these days.

Get the folks from Sucker Punch to make a Green Arrow game and see if Insomniac have an idea for Superman, and get MachineGames to make a Question game.

At this point I would even take a DC Rivals clone.

I think they're really dropping the ball on a good Green Arrow game. Just put him in a Farcry engine or Tomb Raider. have him lost on a island like in the Arrow series and have to survive and craft gear etc. Then go up against the bad guys to get off the island and back home.

MK vs DC is the origin of returning to 2D fighting and the AMAZING cinematic story modes of the last few Mortal Kombat installments

It's actually the blue print of everything we have today!

Ngl I actually really enjoyed this game, I LOVED the novelty of being able to see the MK roster battle fighters from a different universe!

Obviously it was clunky and the story was cheesy but IDC. I thought it was fucking awesome being able to see things like Raiden vs Superman or Scorpion vs Batman

The only way I would be excited for Injustice 3 is if it was a sequel to MK vs DC tbh
