TL;DR The Batman Arkham series is widely regarded as the pinnacle of DC video games, with Arkham City often highlighted as the best. Other notable mentions include the Injustice series and LEGO DC games.
Batman Arkham Series
The Batman Arkham series is frequently mentioned as the top choice for DC video games. Arkham City stands out for its engaging story mode and gameplay [4:1], while Arkham Asylum is praised for its unique atmosphere and darkly perfect representation of Batman
[4:6]
[4:9]. Arkham Knight and Arkham Origins are also popular among fans
[2:1].
Injustice Series
The Injustice series offers a compelling take on various DC characters, featuring both heroic and villainous versions [1:3]. Injustice Gods Among Us and its sequel are noted for their engaging gameplay and character adaptations
[2:1]
[4:1]. These games provide a unique fighting experience within the DC universe.
LEGO DC Games
LEGO DC games are another popular choice, particularly for their fun and accessible gameplay. LEGO Batman 3 and LEGO DC Super Villains are highlighted as enjoyable experiences [2:3]
[4:4]. These games offer a lighter take on the DC universe, making them suitable for all ages.
Justice League and Other Titles
Justice League Heroes, although older, is remembered fondly by players as a decent game that provided a fun experience similar to Marvel Ultimate Alliance [3:1]
[4:2]. DC Universe Online is noted for its immersive experience in DC lore, despite some drawbacks in community interactions
[4:3]. Upcoming titles like the Wonder Woman game and Suicide Squad are anticipated by fans
[3:4].
Potential Future Games
There is interest in seeing more DC characters get their own games, such as Lobo or Constantine, which could offer unique narratives and gameplay opportunities [5:1]. A Batman Beyond game is suggested as an obvious choice for future development
[5:3]. Fans hope for more ambitious projects from Warner Bros to expand the DC gaming universe.
People forget that it's the real, mainline Justice League that take down the Injustice versions. They're all pretty heroic.
Is that in the latest injustice books?
I meant the original game
Injustice actually does a good job with the version of the characters from the good universe. This works in the first game to juxtapose the evil versions. So as much slack as Injustice gets, Superman and WW did get good adaptations for the first game, just not the ones everyone thinks of when you name drop Injustice
There's not too many options is there?
I'm not saying them as a Justice League, rather best option for each character
That's what they're answering. They're saying the LEGO games for each of them
Most of them are the Lego ones.
I remember justice league heroes being pretty good but that's going back along time
The LEGO Batman games are quite good too, especially 3. Justice League Heroes, the Telltale games and the 3DS/Vita Blackgate games are good too.
Need to play those. Sorry my DC games list is so small. Have played a lot more Marvel than DC over the years
Batman Arkham City
Batman Arkham Origins
Batman Arkham Asylum
Injustice Gods Among Us
Injustice Gods Among Us 2
Superman Returns
Arkham city is the best, if you don't know. Superman Returns is the decent one
Whatever. Haters. Just trying to have a fun list here
I really want to get Injustice 2 to play it in its fullest. I really want to play Arkham Knight. Gotham Knights looks interesting
Does anyone else feel as though there is a big lack of video games for the dc universe as apart from batman in the arkham series, there are basically no games for any other characters.
There's a few like DC universe online , injustice , Justice League: Cosmic Chaos , gotham knights , batman telltale and more
But I agree I'd love more
Absolutely. There’s just injustice and the Lego games. Dcuo is also more encompassing than most other titles but you play along with your favorite characters not as them so it doesn’t really scratch the same itch.
I’m hoping we get a decent justice league or titans game eventually because solo games are cool n all but If you want to play as unpopular characters(or a female) team games are pretty much your only bet.
There’s a Wonder Woman game in the works. Be sure to support it when it comes out!
There’s also the Suicide Squad game, but I suppose you counted it as part of the Arkham series.
This is mostly because Warner Bros is the publisher for all DC games and they only have so many studios.
Unlike Disney who basically gave up on game publishing and now they're licensing out their characters to different studios.
If you want to go back to the Ps2 era there was Justice League Heroes. It was essentially DC's answer to Marvel Ultimate Alliance. It was fun, not spectacular, but I did several play throughs and had a good time.
Genuinely a shame there was never a remastered version or how it never got a sequel
I really enjoyed Justice League Heroes on PS2.
That was so much fun. Clearly inspired by the comics. All the alternate skins were great.
I’m not sure why it didn’t catch on. Maybe I’m biased, but I saw franchise potential and a great opportunity to dive into all the DC characters. Full disclosure, I did use the cheat codes so I could start with a fully powered Supes.
DC Universe Online. Just mute all audio chat and the kids throwing racial slurs in /shout chat in the hub areas, and its a great way to immerse yourself in DC lore.
Lego DC Super Villains. Nah but Arkham Knight.
Probably Arkham City. My favorite story mode out of all of the Arkham games, and great gameplay. Not much needs to be said about it. I did really enjoy the other games too though, I’ve spent countless hours on injustice 1 and 2
I know Arkham City was the always peak of the Trilogy (and well deserved for the Riddler and Ra's missions alone) ....
But there is something darkly unique, macabre and PERFECTLY Batman about the OG Arkham Asylum game.
I just discovered they did a remaster for PS5 and Im about to go through it AGAIN.
This will be my new christmas tradition (after watching Die Hard and Home Alone)..
OG Asylum makes ALL the other games (INCLUDING Injustice 2) SOOOOOOO much better!
Arkham City is so good
Arkham Asylum. Peak atmosphere
I’ve seen so many people say city or knight, even origins but never asylum 🙏 im with you on this
Asylum is the best one. A true Batman insane night of putting out fires.
the arkham games are just so peak
A Batman Beyond game seems like such an obvious slam dunk I can’t wrap my head around them not doing it.
Batman Arkham Beyond
Batman Beyond Arkham
A Lobo or a Constantine game would be groundbreaking. Huge chance of exploration, chances to be good and bad and you get to meet a whole hell of a lot of shady NPCs and do very sketchy side activities. I wish WB would be ambitious enough to try this. But with the mixed reviews and overemphasis on live element of SS kill JL, we might not see them be that brave for another 15 years.
There was a Constantine game the year before that Titans game. A tie in with the Keanu movie.
Omg! I gotta find this now, thank you.
I’d rather have a game of Arkham quality.
That’s not Wally that’s impulse in a kids flash suit
That's Bart Allen aka Impulse who became KF and Wally was main Flash
Him and Hit-Monkey would have an insane fight
Forgot to put Wally
Maybe one day DC will make a videogame for one of their characters that isn't Batman or Batman adjecent.
>Maybe one day DC will make a video game for one of their characters that isn't Batman or Batman adjacent.
to clarify since somebody commented about it i am a lifelong batman fan i think that goes w out saying but dc Has Other Characters i'd like to see touched upon perhaps occasionally. bruce is my darling but i have others darlings also, i don't have a favorite child but dc does!
Not kidding, I laughed in JOY when Batman ( later found out he was a clone, ah well ) was shot by Harley in Crap Squad, so tired of that OP bitch being hyped up so much, I hope DC comes out and just admits he has superpowers at this point and I wouldn't even be mad
I just need a Flash game.
He has so much potential for one, but DC loves wanking Batman off.
Sad new bro but that was one of the victims of Suicide Squad game flopping
They canned the proposal of a flash game cause of it
A flash game could literally be so fucking peak. Like the other comment said, now that consoles can handle frame rates and SSDs better, nows as good a time as any.
I would never get tired of zooming around an open world Central/Keystone City
DC make a flash rogue like and my life is yours
JUST YOU WAIT UNTIL DC ALLIES GETS ANNOUNCED/j
Uj/ And there's also arkane studios blade, the black panther/captain America game and the focus entertainment Motive entertainment Ironman game (grated all of them are at risk of being cancelled if we're being honest)
Please warner just license DC's characters to gaming studios like Disney does with marvel
>Please warner just license DC's character to gaming studios like Disney does with marvel
Never! You´re either getting more Injustice or whatever Rocksteady wants that´s most likely a Batman game
I would love that too. Personally, I wish Telltale made a Superman game instead of Batman because that style fits him.
Rise of Hydra was delayed from this year, but that's fine honestly because Cosmic Invasion took its spot.
I also remember the Batman Begins game with the Nemesis system that got leaked a few weeks ago.
Batman the Brave and the Bold
DCAU
Arrowverse
Superman the Reeve film. ( I saw it for the first time recently and loved it)
JLA by Grant Morrison
Batman by Grant Morrison
Alistar Superman
Suicide Squad by Grant Morrison (LOL JK by John Ostrander actually)
Flash by Mark Waid
First suicide squad was that good? I love 52, rebirth and newest run; does first vilume worth reading?
Technically I think it’s like the 2nd incarnation but yea Definitely.
unpopular opinion, but young justice. Specifically the worldbuilding. Despite the narrativr shortcomings, to me that is a reference of how to adapt DC lore and interconnecy characters in a cohesive timeline
In terms of comics, DC: New Frontier, All Star Superman, Batman: The Long Halloween, and Kingdom Come for me.
Nothing can beat Kingdom Come in my mind. The art beautifully represented the amazing character designs. The story pulled from DC’s established continuity while building on it in logical but sometimes unexpected ways. Even the new characters felt like they belonged in the DCU. It’s the book that brought me back to comics, even though I was raised on Marvel.
All of which are, or will be released in the popular DC Compact Comics Editions.
I have all but Long Halloween in the extremely nice Absolute editions, but Long Halloween Absolute Edition is finally getting reprinted! :)
Why new frontier is considered as good for you? I reader it s little and it was medium worth comic
The DCAU.
The Superman & Lois show on CW is the absolute best representation of Clark Kent and Superman. The marriage and family dynamic is great too. Some of the storylines have really great moments too. The ending in the finale is some of THE BEST Superman of all time.
It's wild to me how that show isn't bigger with Superman fans.
I'm not embarrassed to say I cried during that last episode.
I'm sick and tired of the lack of good DC games. Does anyone have any suggestions for good or decent or at least interesting DC games (with a higher focus on classic 8/16 bit consoles and handhelds)?
I’ve played almost all of them. The best and most interesting ones?
Batman for NES.
Batman Return of the Joker for NES.
Death and Return of Superman for SNES.
Justice League Task Force for SNES and Genesis.
The Adventures of Batman and Robin for SNES, Genesis and Sega CD. The Sega CD game is a great driving game with basically an episode’s worth of original animation.
Batman Returns for SNES.
Justice League Heroes for PS2. Great game, one of the best DC games.
Batman Vengeance and Superman: Shadow of Apokolips for PS2. Really fun games that capture the essence of the animated series they are based on.
Aquaman for Xbox. It shows up on a lot of worst lists but honestly I liked it. Fighting sections are lame but there are passable ship combat sections.
The Flash for Gameboy Advance. Better than a handheld licensed game needed to be.
Batman Begins for PS2. Different take the Arkham Series. Lots of emphasis on putting fear in enemies.
Superman Returns for Xbox 360. Not a perfect game but it’s fun to fly around with and has some neat ideas.
Of course the Arkham stuff. I liked Gotham Knights too.
Unfortunately i do know of all of them, but thank u for giving so many good suggestions 😭. I've only rly played the NES and SNES games tho but Batman Vengeance, Superman Shadow and Returns rly interest me. Also it's a shame Aquaman isn't good because the exploration looks fun to me. Do u know any other good handheld ones? Cuz i rly liked the GBC and GBA games. I'd recommend Teen Titans 2 GBA because I've been replaying it and having a good time with it since i started rewatching the show lately and remembering that i used to love the game as a kid
Batman Arkham series
Batman TellTale series
Lego Batman and Lego DC Supervillains
So I'm just gonna go out on a limb and assume you haven't played the Batman: Arkham games? Cause I'd start there.
Of course i have. Everyone has 🤔
The Lego Batman Trilogy and Lego DC Supervillains
Justice League Heroes is a passible Marvel Ultimate Alliance clone.
I love JLH
It's just such a a shame we can't get a decent game out of DC such great characters, teams and the universe is great, I don't even mind what we get flash game or Superman or even another batman game at this point, I was so let down by the suicide squad game as many of us were. I'm happy to see marvel getting great games with the new fighting game and wolverine. I'm not even talking blockbuster game even marvels guardians of the galaxy game was a fun story game I would love something in that vein not ground breaking just something good and really immersive in the universe.
At this point I wish WB would license out the DC stuff to studios who want to make games. Disney have done this for years with their properties and arguably the Marvel games are having a great time of it these days.
Get the folks from Sucker Punch to make a Green Arrow game and see if Insomniac have an idea for Superman, and get MachineGames to make a Question game.
At this point I would even take a DC Rivals clone.
Let's hope that with them selling WB that the person who owns values gaming. Paramount and Netflix have gaming divisions so that could make it happen.
I think they're really dropping the ball on a good Green Arrow game. Just put him in a Farcry engine or Tomb Raider. have him lost on a island like in the Arrow series and have to survive and craft gear etc. Then go up against the bad guys to get off the island and back home.
I'm still upset over the Wonder Woman game from Monolith getting canned.
I’m upset that it was mismanaged to Hell and back, if it wasn’t mismanaged we would’ve had the game by now and it would never have been canned.
Even more so because now who knows if the nemesis system ever comes back
You will get SSKTJL and like it
Nope had it played it, completed it, did all the side stuff like riddles, didn't actually enjoy it much , I came back for season 1 and it was trash, then sold it on. So I gave it a fair shake.
Gotham Knights was better than I expected playing with my best friend. Certainly not a good or great game but fun enough if you love DC lore.
enjoyed got ham knights
i really wish they make another one
BUT... with The Outsiders instead
I played a fair bit with my mate but never finished it. I found the structure of the game really strange.
Nah it has the appropriate amount of appreciation. It’s not a horrible game, but by MK standards. It’s very mediocre. The idea was solid, execution not so much. The T rating really limited what they could do.
Nah its over hated. People expected a balls to the wall blood and gore MK game with DC characters lol like be fr
The only thing that's underappreciated about it was that it led to the creation of MK9 by involving WB. It's arguably the worst entry in the series.
It's easily the worst entry in the mainline franchise. It was barebones, too many vital MK characters were missing, and it just felt like a misfire. It's no wonder they went back to the drawing board after this one.
I love this game even if it’s a little rough around the edges.
MK vs DC is the origin of returning to 2D fighting and the AMAZING cinematic story modes of the last few Mortal Kombat installments
It's actually the blue print of everything we have today!
Ngl I actually really enjoyed this game, I LOVED the novelty of being able to see the MK roster battle fighters from a different universe!
Obviously it was clunky and the story was cheesy but IDC. I thought it was fucking awesome being able to see things like Raiden vs Superman or Scorpion vs Batman
The only way I would be excited for Injustice 3 is if it was a sequel to MK vs DC tbh
