Which Marvel based video games make your top 10 list? What games would you like remakes of? For me: Spider-Man (PS4/PS5), Miles Morales, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Deadpool, Marvel Ultimate Alliance, X-Men vs Street Fighter, X-Men Arcade, Lego Marvel Super Heroes, Spider-Man and Venom Maximum Carnage, and X-Men 2 Clone Wars. I would love to play an updated version of Captain America and the Avengers arcade game (like what they're doing for the upcoming TMNT game).
There was a Wolverine origins game on xbox360 that came out at the same time as the movie. It was a lot better than the movie. Felt like the older spider-man games where they are titled after the movie but pretty much do their own thing.
Another fun one was also around the same time, was X-men Destiny. Basically you are a random person at an anti mutant rally snd you powers manifest (you pick one of 3 options) and you can augment them and develop secondary mutations or combo attack with other certain mutants. It was short but fun.
I missed out on both those games. I didn't hear about how great the wolverine game was until recently. I think the movie not being so great made me not interested in the game at the time.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance, X-men Legends 2, Lego Avengers.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy
This. I’m still surprised at how often I’m laughing and then suddenly amazed at how faithful it is to some classic comic runs. This is top 5 for me now.
Going to have to give this one a try
X-Men Legends 1 & 2
I spent a lot of time and money hunting down an OG Xbox just so I could play those
Really enjoyed that series. Might have to go back and replay it
Spider-Man & Miles Morales on PS4/PS5 are absolutely phenomenal. Spider-Man’s one of my favorite games of all time; they really nailed it in every way. I cannot wait for Spider-Man 2 & Wolverine from that team. Being a lifelong fighting game fan, Marvel vs Capcom 1 & 2 are also two of the best ever.
Absolutely agree. Definitely looking forward to both. I was really surprised when they announced the wolverine game. MvC dominated that arcade when they came out
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is the best of all time. Multiple storyline almost every character from Multiple Marvel universes an pretty fun rpg style character leveling systems. Easily gets my vote.
If you like fighting games, Marvel vs Capcom is a blast as well.
Ultimate alliance. There are 3 of them and they have tons of heroes to choose from. Throughout the game you fight a bunch of villains and go to different locals from the marvel universe. The third one is on switch only, but the other 2 I think should be on ps3, xbox, pc, and maybe even ps4. The firs one is the best imo. Tons of alternate costumes and rpg elements to make your heroes more custom to you.
Spiderman and miles morales on ps4/5 is probably the gold standard now.
On a more personal note there are some older games I love. Hulk ultimate destruction is a blast. Running around smashing shit is just so satisfying. I liked the ps2 and ps3 versions of iron man as well. The versions are slightly different, but both very fun. Spider man 2 on ps2 was amazing in the day. Ultimate Spiderman alternates you playing as spidey and venom. Open world and cell shaded comic art style is great. Then theres Spiderman web of shadows on ps3 which gives you the black suit, and shattered dimensions for ps3 introduces you to some different spider men. And lastly here, although the movie wasn't great, xmen origins wolverine is an awesome God of War style game where you get to tear through everyone, and as you take damage chunks of Wolverine will come off and slowly heal which looks so cool.
A lot of Spiderman. Many of our now favorite heroes never got good games.
Lastly, I'll get down voted to he'll for this, bit marvels avengers is fun. I don't care who thinks otherwise. Yes they try to get you to spend money on outfits, but being online playing as iron man, spidey, hulk, thor, cap or others, and having a whole teem of avengers ripping through enemies is just so satisfying. Each hero plays a bit different and they are all a blast to play as. Game is usually on sale too. Try it out. It also has a single player campaign.
If all else fails, the lego marvel games are actually pretty fun. I hope my wall helped. Let me know if you have questions on any of these
Thank you. Marvels Avengers is fun. I've put hundreds of hours into it at this point, maxed every hero, and love it to bits. No other Marvel game, even the PS4 Spider-Man, makes me feel like an actual super hero the way that Avengers does. It takes commitment but it's even incredibly worth it for me.
Oh yeah I thought the game was pretty cool and just fine. But then I actually entered which one of the first levels I think it's called inter Avengers or something, and at one point we were all outside the building or room or something and I flew in as Iron Man before anybody else it was just flying around the room taking out the turrets on the walls oh, not having to stop and aim, just flying through and shooting all of them and then I flew out of the building and landed behind them and we all walked in all cool like. Iron Man probably being my second favorite hero aside from Wolverine, that was an amazing experience
The new Guardians of the Galaxy game is fantastic.
If you go back a bit, check out the X-Men Legends games. They may be hard to track down, but they're pretty great.
Also an old game, but X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a surprisingly good game for how crappy the movie is that it's based on. It is movie based but it has comic stuff sprinkled in as well.
The LEGO marvel games have never let me down.
Anyone who hasn’t played the first one is missing out big time. That game was amazing, it isn’t talked about enough.
Spider man ps4 is amazing
I would even say it's Spectacular.
The Ultimate spidey game, if you would
This
currently rebuilding my game collection and need some help from the masses. Just realized the only comic book video game I have is X-Men for the Sega Genesis. (still haven't beat that damn game)
I enjoyed the Spider-Man 2 video game. Had a lot of hours clocked in on it. It can get repetitive at times, but I think it had the most satisfying web slinging. Just going around New York is fun.
I was going to suggest this one as well.
I still own it, and it is the only reason I haven't gotten rid of my old PS2. What I wouldn't give for a Switch or PC port, with slightly upgraded graphics.
I rather like the LEGO games and the MARVEL vs. Capcom series.
#XMEN WOLVERINE ORIGINS
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows - the ability to switch at will between the normal and the symbiote suit (and how it affected your movesets) totally makes up for the generic story.
Here are my favorites!
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2. Spider-Man 2 the Game. X-Men Origins Wolverine the Game. Ultimate Spider-Man. Spider-Man Web of Shadows. Deadpool(kinda short though). x-men legends 2 rise of apocalypse. Marvel vs Capcom 2. The Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction. LEGO marvel Superheroes.
I like Marvel superheroes. Some DC too but I'm more interested in Marvel. After playing Marvel Ultimate Alliance and the Insomniac Spider Man games (both Peter and Miles) I've been wanting to play more Marvel games. I know there's a lot of trash and good ones too.
What are some really good Marvel based games that anyone would recommend, along with best ways to play them. All genres accepted.
The LEGO marvel games, especially the first one are some of the best in the LEGO series it's also fun as hell to explore complete missions from lesser known marvel characters, collect characters golden bricks and complete level.
Overall the story is nice and the post game openworld exploration is dope
Spiderman 2 for the PS2 or GameCube, the LEGO Marvel games.
Guardians of the Galaxy are surprisingly good.
I've heard good things about that game, its definitely on my wish list.
Marvel Vs Capcom 3 if you have a buddy to play with (or if you don't mind playing fighting games by yourself). You can try other games in the series too but 3 is the most well known
deadpool (ps/ps4/xb1)
hulk ultimate destruction (xbox/ps2/gamecube)
the punisher (arcade)
the punisher (pc/ps2/xbox)
x-men 2 clone wars (genesis)
x-men (arcade)
x-men legends 1&2 (ps2/xbox/gamecube)
x-men origins wolverine (pc/360/ps3)
I lament the fact that Deadpoll got delisted from digital stores. Also those Ultimate Alliance ports got delisted pretty quick too.
All of these are the correct answer.
I’ve been wanting to play a marvel game lately. Before I replay Marvel’s Spider-Man for probably the 10th time or so was looking for some other recommendations
MARVEL vs CAPCOM 2 and 3 are godlike.
X-Men (Konami arcade) X-Men 2 Clone Wars (Genesis) Marvel vs Capcom 2 (Arcade, Dreamcast PS2/XBox) Spider-Man 2 (PS2/X Box) and X-Men Legends 2 (Ps2/XBox)
Lego Marvel Super Heroes (the 1st one).
Never tried any of the LEGO marvel games, are they all worth playing? Saw there’s a physical copy with all 3 including the season passes
They've got great character rosters (especially the first LMSH) and are fun for low-stakes couch-coop.
They have a peculiar charm, but if you don't dig the Lego angle on the game mechanics, the gimmick will wear thin after a while. They give you reasons to replay the levels, unless you just want to play through for the boss battles and cutscenes.
Guardians of the Galaxy.
X-Men Legends series
Marvel Ultimate Alliance Series
Square-Enix's Guardians of the Galaxy
the recent Spider-Man series
Marvel nemesis
My favourite Marvel game. Needs to be made available on PS4
Ultimate Alliance

Oh, and there's Spiderman ps4 also
Lmao, my exact thoughts Marvel Ultimate Alliance #'s 1 thru 10 🔥
Marvel Heroes, Ultimate Alliance 1&2, X-Men Legends 1&2, Spider-Man PS4 & Miles Morales, MvC2, Midnight Sons, GotG.
In some order.
Good mention of midnight suns. I had a lot of fun watching tony and strange argue. It was also cool to see blade have the hots for captain marvel. They talked about inviting me to the wedding right before the last mission lol.
Okay, Ultimate Alliance is one of the greats for certain but I CANNOT believe no one is throwing out Spiderman Web of Shadows.
What I'm amazed by is that people are putting Ultimate Alliance on here as if it's better than Ultimate Alliance 2. The sequel is leaps and bounds better than the first. The threequel... not so much.
Wait, wait, wait, i’m gonna need you to explain this.
Ultimate Alliance 2 has less characters, less super moves, less ultimates, less unique environments, less unique enemies, less costumes, Less unique NPC’s….yeah, it just had less EVERYTHING.
Hell, Wolverine even had a unique rage mechanic in the original.
How is it better than the first game?
Last time I played that was in 2009-2010. I remember I liked it but that’s it. Won’t put it in a marvel list cus I don’t remember shit for WoS😭
Marvel heroes was great
We dont get games as often as we used to. Spider-Man ps4 was great, avengers was uh it was a game, I have major problems with Spider-Man 2, marvel rivals is having its hay day right now, miles morales was fine I guess, I've heard good things about midnight suns, guardians of the galaxy was pretty good. and we don't even know when that Wolverine game is coming out.
So many instant classics from the 7th generation. If you had a 360 or ps3 chances are you've played one or more of these. X men origins managed to make a near perfect Wolverine experience from a messy movie. Captain America a pretty decent game despite being another movie tie in. Web of shadows took ques from the infamous series with that interesting morality system and playing as the symbiote Spider-Man was amazing. Shattered dimensions is up there as one of the best spidey games. Edge of time isn't as great but it still manages to be a good Spider-Man game.
You guys ever played Marvel nemesis? I loved that game
Man, I loved it at the time. Tried to go back and play it and the jank is unreal.
But I still love it. Prefer that to the 2D/side on fighting games cause the fights just felt more cinematic
I feel that, I loved the story so much and all the villains tragic backstory was really cool
If this is peak, it ain’t much. All those Spider-Man games I played on release and they were 7/10 games. Not horrible but nothing groundbreaking. DC had much better games in the Arkham series.
Of the games shown only two could really be considered actually good by most people and that’s Lego and MvC3. Not counting personal bias the rest are kinda just ok. Fun but not great. No personally I find myself defending Web Of Shadows to people because I had a lot of fun with it but I’ll admit that game is kinda jank. I’m sure there’s a lot of people in the same boat as me but for the other games .
Yep.
Infamous was phenomenal.
I love all 3 of them
Me too, mate. 🙂
I played Wolverine: Origins on Wii. Couldn't believe how fucking good it was. Holy shit I want to revisit it so badly.
I remember playing the PS3 version of the game at a family member’s house and later renting it at the Redbox to finish it, I only had a Wii at this point so I figured why not. Totally different game, but honestly was good enough for me to finish in a single night.
I am curious and want to discuss the video games based on comics that people love.
Personally I love Arkham Asylum, City and Origins. I don't love Arkham Knight as much as the first three.
I am currently playing through Guardians of the Galaxy and enjoying the humor.
Midnight Suns has been fun so far, but I am not sure if it will remain up there.
A few favorites of mine from the past? X-Men Legends 1 and 2
Ultimate Alliance
Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions
Rogue Trooper
Ultimate Spider-Man
Incredible Hulk Ultimate Destruction.
What are some of your favorites? Do they go back further? I don't get into the comic book games on the NES SNED or Genesis and I know I haven't talked about Marvel vs Capcom.
Comix Zone, while hard as balls, is a complete love letter to comics in the form of a beat ‘em up/platformer.
X-Men Legends 1-2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1-3
the Sonyverse Spider-Man games
The Square-Enix Avengers game had really good single player imo. Sure it was a failure on a lot of levels but I think the single-player gets overlooked at how good it was because of that.
X2: Wolverine’s Revenge… I may be the only person who loves this game. I still play it from time to time and while it’s not perfect, I like it a lot.
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse on SNES. I hate the end of the game’s story but the journey is really good.
X-Men 2: Clone Wars on Genesis is another one I like a lot regardless of how hard it is.
I dunno if it counts but Batman (1989) had 3 different games on NES, Genesis, and Game Boy that were all very different and all good in their own right.
X-Men Mutant Academy and MA2 on PS1 are excellent fighting games. It makes me sad Next Dimension killed the franchise.
Add xmen origins wolverine.
Comix Zone!
Insomniac Spider-Man and Batman Arkham are I think the quintessential comic book video games.
Insomniac's Spider-Man 1 & 2/MM
Been revisiting marvel ultimate alliance and it's pretty fun. I'm surprised at how much marvel lore they were able to add. A little peeved they have portraits for playable characters not available in my version for the loading screens though. God damn moon knight!
I liked the system in the first game where certain characters would have special interactions with NPCs, Like Deadpool/Weasel, Spider-Man/Mysterio, etc.
The darkness
Mike Patton voicing the Darkness is so good
I never got to play it. I still have my xbox 360 so I might pick it up.
Like title says, I am trying to find a Marvel game to play. I’ve been looking at Midnight Suns and it that seems interesting. I like the turn based and cars mechanics as I lean towards those type of games (Fire Emblem, Slay the Spire). I would like it if the game included that, but I’m just looking for some Marvel games to play.
Midnight Suns align with your tastes. I love it.
Guardians of the Galaxy was great.
Spider-Man is incredible.
2nd this list, and will also add Ultimate Alliance 3 if you have a switch. Good for couch co-op when you have some friends over and big roster of characters.
I second UA 3, even if it’s super Grindy and thing and colossus absolutely trivialize everything.
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.
This, 100%. The game feels like and actual movie, the characters act like the guys from the movies, the gameplay is fun and the humor is on point.
I've heard pretty good things about Midnight Suns. It sounds like it fits your taste. I'm not a huge fan of that type of game though. But I have heard that if you like turn based strategy like that, if you like XCOM and those types of games, you'll like Midnight Suns. And if you like Marvel, you'll like that game even more.
Yes, I haven’t played it myself but it seems to tick all the boxes for the OP and was well-reviewed.
On Xbox anyways it’s on sale 50% off
Spiderman is one of the best games is recent memory
Midnight Suns is excellent. And after the painful Avengers, a much better game than I feared. Yes, get it.
I also really like Guardians of the Galaxy, which is an old style linear third-person action and adventure game, but very entertaining and also well done.
Avengers, mentioned earlier has a good starting 4-6h story, but then nothing interesting to do. I have seen it on sale for $5 and for that the 4-6h is OK.
Spiderman and Miles Moralis are great and the usual strong recommendations.
Comics are way too many. I will say Spider-Man Blue is one of the first comics I ever got and it holds a dear place in my heart. As far as underrated gems go, probably Silver Surfer Requiem.
From the movies: Thor arriving in Wakanda and Cap wielding Mjolnir
From TV shows: EMH and Spectacular Spider -Man
From video games: I grew up on Marvel Ultimate Alliance and loved Midnight Suns
Thor arriving in Wakanda is the best moment of my favorite movie
The movie theater cheered when Captain America had mjolnir come to him.
EMH was so much fun
As an avid Marvel reader throughout the eighties, I would have to say the Infinity War movie. It was the first time I’d felt that they captured on-screen what a Marvel crossover event actually felt like. Then, realizing that millions of people were vibing on this- a niche I shared with just a few other comic nerds back in the day, was a cathartic full circle.
Hickman’s initial saga from FF-Secret Wars
Man, I was going to say the same thing. Hickman's F4 and Time Runs Out was just so good I long for those series again. I loved his X Men run too.
Shout out to Earth X for also being dark and beautiful.
I'm reading it now I'm on vol 5 of the Avengers collections and it's so good.
If you read Time Runs Out out of order you’ll probably be confused 😅 but as far as FF vs Avengers I’d say they’re pretty contained stories. Even the separate volumes of Avengers before Time Runs Out work well on their own. If anything you might get a little more out of Avengers from the little nuggets planted in FF
Matt Fraction Hawkeye fucks hard
I think 2015 ‘Secret Wars’ demonstrated the height of what the characters can do. That’s not to say every title was peak (or even good), but it the sweet spot for arc lengths, showed off the range the stories had, and gave the creators enough leash to really do their things.
It’s not peak Spider-Man or peak X-Men, but it is peak Marvel. ‘Siege’, ‘Witch Hunter Angela’, and ‘The Carol Corps’ deserved award consideration. ‘Years of Future Past’ has the Colossus monologue to end all monologues. ‘Attilan Rising’ and ‘Star-Lord & Kitty Pryde’ oozed a style that Marvel rarely dips into.
At the same time, you had Garth Ennis doing four issues of humiliation kink. You haven’t seen Marvel do fetish until you’ve read ‘Secret Wars: Where Monsters Dwell’. That’s a kind of peak.
Where monster’s dwell is the most insane book I have ever read from Ennis
What are the best Marvel video games
Here are some of the best Marvel video games to consider:
Marvel's Spider-Man (2018)
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020)
Marvel's Avengers (2020)
Guardians of the Galaxy (2021)
Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order (2019)
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (2013)
Recommendation: If you're a fan of open-world gameplay and storytelling, Marvel's Spider-Man series is a must-play. For a more cooperative experience, Marvel's Avengers offers a fun way to team up with friends. If you enjoy RPG elements, Guardians of the Galaxy provides a unique narrative experience.
