TL;DR
Secure Fit and Sweat Resistance
When choosing earbuds for gym use, secure fit and sweat resistance are crucial. Many users recommend ear-clip or wingtip designs for a secure fit during intense workouts. The Beats Fit Pro is highly praised for its wingtip design that keeps the earbuds in place even during vigorous activities [4:3]
[5:1]. The Soundcore Sport X20 also offers excellent stability and is sweat-resistant, making it suitable for long treadmill sessions
[1:3]
[3:2].
Sound Quality and Noise Cancellation
Sound quality and noise cancellation are important for those who want to enjoy their music without external distractions. The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are known for their superior ANC capabilities [4:2], while the Beats Fit Pro provides good sound quality with bass-forward audio and effective ANC
[4:3]. For those on a budget, the Realme Buds Air 7 offers strong bass and decent ANC at an affordable price
[2:1].
Budget-Friendly Options
For those looking for more affordable options, the Sony C510 stands out as a budget-friendly choice with a stable fit and decent sound quality [1:3]. The Realme Buds Air 7 is another cost-effective option that offers great features like IP57 rating and long battery life
[2:1].
Durability and Longevity
Durability is a key consideration, especially for gym earbuds that will be exposed to sweat and movement. Users have reported positive experiences with the longevity of Soundcore products, including the Liberty 3 Pro [5:6] and Sport X20
[5:5]. However, some users have noted issues with older models like the Soundcore X10 after several years of use
[5:8].
Additional Recommendations
If you prefer open-ear designs for safety reasons, consider ear-clip styles like the Soundcore Aeroclips [1:2]. These provide transparency and comfort, allowing ambient sounds to be heard, which can be beneficial in certain gym environments.
I’m looking for the best gym earbuds to wear while working out. I currently have AirPod Gen 3’s with a silicone wing tip insert that fit my ears okay, but don’t stay in my ears after I get super sweaty. I’m not the biggest fan of the “insert” tips of earbuds unless the bud is small enough to not pop out of my ears when I’m stretching or running.
Things they need to be:
Does anyone have any recommendations? Or have a good brand to start at so I can start trying some on? Thank you in advance!
For years, I wore Bose earbuds for my gym needs - the wingtips locked into my ears and the sound quality was upper tier (not the best but above mid-grade for the industry at large).
Now I discovered ear-clip earbuds and have a set of soundcore aeroclips - the full open-ear transparency makes them much safer for my outdoor cycling and gym needs (natural open transparency is always going to better than ANC transparency mode). The volume is plenty loud enough but still not too loud to block out all noise.
But from a comfort standpoint, ear-clip style earbuds are much more comfortable for the gym and my cycling needs. They have never come loose on me.
One major downside (aside from the well known poor bass) is that at max volume people can hear your audio clearly from a meter away lol (your ears deflect the sound outwards so people can hear that).
So when I really want to crank it in my gym at max volumes, I still fall back to my Bose Quietcomfort Ultra earbuds which lock into my ears and the ANC allows me to block out all noise.
However since they are totally sealed off - they will still 'thud' when running which may annoy you (for my cardio they never bother me since I'm on a bicycle lol)
I just bought the Sony c510 exclusively for sports. The fit is so good and stable and has survived long treadmill sessions with waterfall level sweat.
These won’t fall out even if you’re hit with a grenade…
The icing on the cake is the push buttons. I significantly prefer it as it avoids accidental or incorrect presses.
You can get them for $48 on Amazon. The sound quality is very decent and it does not have ANC. Though while listening to music that is irrelevant.
Thank you! I’ll check them out, $48 on Amazon is a lot more doable to try them out than $300 Bose ones
Exactly !!! Plus, given the price, you won’t be sad if they get lost or damaged. I’m tired of damaging expensive buds at the gym. I keep my expensive ones at home and use it for work and travel where ANC and call quality can really make a difference.
If you're picking wireless earbuds for workouts, I focus on three core factors: secure fit, sweat/water resistance, and reliable Bluetooth connection.
After testing many models, a few really stood out for gym sessions. Here's a guide I put together comparing top picks for sports (fit, specs, and real user reviews):
https://audifonos.live/top-sports-headphones/
Hope it helps anyone tired of earbuds falling out mid-run or losing grip during training!
Heyy guys so I m looking for a earbud which I can wear for gym like they don't fall out while I m running on the treadmill So it should be waterproof, sweat-resistant,good battery life and Yeah the other obvious features like nice sound quality
But the most important is i don't want them to fall out because my ears are little bit small
Should be around 2000-3000 Rs
Not sure if it’s just me, but my AirPods Pro right earbud always tends to fall out during pressing movements on the bench, like dumbbell chest presses or skull crushers. Planning to upgrade to over-ear headphones.
OnePlus nord buds 3.
Good noise cancellation. Decent pricing. Good sound quality.
Checkout soundcore
Are u using soundcore products is it good?
Yes. They are very good and beat higher priced products
My budget is under 1k
Ohh ok nice
I've been using the Realme Buds Air 7 for the gym, and they’ve been solid. Got them for ₹2,970 with bank discounts, and honestly, they tick all the right boxes:
Fit is great, especially if you have small ears. Once I found the right ear tip size, they stayed put—even on the treadmill.
IP57 rating, so sweat or water isn’t an issue.
Battery lasts ages (they claim 50 hours, and I’ve barely had to charge them).
ANC is surprisingly good for the price—cuts down on gym noise so I can focus.
Bass is strong, and Bluetooth 5.3 keeps the connection solid.
For under 3K, I don’t think you’ll get a better mix of fit, sound, and durability. If your main concern is them staying in your ears while running, these should work well
Hey All!
I'm looking for the best overall earbuds for everyday use. I currently have the Airpod Pros and they are not charging as easily anymore, or they will say they are charged and die in 5 minutes. They also don't stay on too easy when i am running/lifting.
I have seen the Bose Quiet Comfort Ultras, Sony WX-1000XM5's mentioned a lot. As well as the JBL Tour Pro 3's.
I mainly need them for gym workouts and runs, that don't fall out when i sweat, has noise canceling and transperancy (although i mainly use the transparency during runs), and would have great quality. There are so many other posts about this but i keep seeing mixed reviews about every different kind.
Any input helps. Thank!
Soundcore Sport X20. $50 on Amazon right now. I compared them to the JLab Epic Sport ANC 3 and the X20 is better in every way.
Samsung buds fe are really good as well. I have tried running in these as well as weight training and they stay in place without having to adjust them. They have really good ANC and bass for its price. Very underrated buds.
Hello everyone,
In this community, we often discuss earbuds, and many people share their personal opinions. Today, I’m seeking recommendations specifically for those who work out at the gym.
Out of the following options, which would you consider the best for gym use?
1: Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II
2: AirPods Pro 2nd Gen
3: Beats Fit Pro
4:Technics AZ-80
5:Jabra Elite 10s
I would appreciate hearing your experiences with these earbuds! Please share your thoughts on things like comfort, battery life, sound quality, and any other features that stand out.
Thanks in advance!
You've picked some great options already. I mostly recommend the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds or the Technics AZ-80 both are solid choices and excellent for the gym.
I can vouch for the fit pro, those things are beasts in and out of the gym. Unless you hate the wingtips feeling, get those. Sound quality is bass forward but clear, anc is good, transparency is amazingly clear, and I’ve never had them fall out
Id avoid buds because sweat will get in them. Even those marketed for sweat resistance have failed me. I now use boneshokz for working out and have had no issues.
Gyms sometimes play their own music. I want to listen to mine not theirs.
I use shokz for running outdoors but they don't work for me in the gym
You must sweat like a racehorse homie. Look for buds with ip68 waterproof ratings, those can be submerged and survive
Hands down Powerbeats pro. I have both the original and the 2. It is a toss up.
Are you currently using the 2? I was debating just buying another pair of the original Powerbeats.
I have both. Sound is an individual experience. That said I would personally trade I the 2 forum another original Powerbeats. The only buds I have that sound better are the Technics az100. Again, this is subjective and I should say that I wear buds 4-5 hours a day..
Most people prefer the open buds with hooks for the gym. As these don't completely seal the sound in, best for overall safety as you don't want to be lifting weights and not hear any ambient sounds.
None of the ones you listed are made for this, although you did list a few very good buds with excellent sound quality. The best ones are the AZ100. The Bose has the best anc in its class. The APP2 is great for iPhone integration and sound and features are good, especially call quality, siri use, and seamless connectivity.
Now if you were interested in open buds, the best I have used are the Huawei Free Arc and the Soundcore Openfit 2. Then sound wont be nearly as good as regular buds but they definitely won't fall out while in motion and more comfortable for long term wear.
Hey guys! Looking for some really good earbuds for the gym. Here’s some specs I think are important to me, please recc whatever you think fits best (bonus for tried and tested) -Sweat proof! (i sweat a lot on my face especially, I can’t have them getting waterlogged lol) -Slip proof, basically they can’t fall out of my ear mid rep. I know over ear ones would be the best for these but those tend to feel suffocating while I’m weight training. -Slight noise cancelling. I just wanna mute some surrounding sound, not completely block it out for when I’m running (safety first while running outside!) A good booming bass to really get the blood pumping (some good pump songs would also be welcome hehe)
AirPods Pro 2nd gen seem perfect sweet resistance, stay secure even during heavy lifts, strong bass and transparency mode's great for run. Battery and ANC are solid too.
I have smaller ear canals so really stuggle getting a good fit that doesn't hurt or fall out.
I just got the Jlab Air Pop+ a few weeks ago and they are perfect. The ANC versions are slightly bigger but also still stayed in my ears really well
I recently did an analysis on reddit data on earbuds - basically ranked them according to good/bad comments. The results might be helpful - you can filter by comments about using for gym, ANC etc https://redditrecs.com/wireless-earbuds/
The beats fit pro seems like it might be a good choice if you don't want over ear ones - a lot of people find the wingtip design good for keeping it in place.
i’ve had beat fit pro for years and love them but i’m wondering if any other brand has ones with better sound quality / louder , not that louder is even safe for my ears lol
this is what i've been looking for, thank you!
Soundcore sport x20 are AMAZING
I’m afraid because I had the x10s and they broke on me. After 4 years but still. I think 4 years is a good length of lifetime
What are you using now? I have my x10 for about 2 years now. Left side doesnt charge above 70%, and the hook just fell off. Had to use superglue to stick it.
Hey just wanted to check in and see how they've held up over the last 4 months? Just want to check the longevity before I commit to buying them
They are still perfect and absolutely flawless
Those are on my list as well. Good choice. Also I like the app as well.
If you can still find them, Soundcore Liberty 3 Pro.
I own a pair of AirPods Pro but after enough runs and rides on the rain they are dead for sure. Lasted 2 years so im not mad. Before I get another pair of AirPods anyone recommend a better pair? I was looking at the Sony Linkbuds or the Beats pro but welcome to what more experience athletes have to say. I am fairly new to the sport only 1 year in.

Thanks
I’ve seen those id like to give them a try as they have an interesting design. Safety is a big issue which is why I saw the Sony link buds have that hole that claim it’s the best ambient noise earbuds
The standard AirPods (old 1/2nd gen or new 3rd Gen) function identically. They are “open back” earbuds AKA no seal so no passive (or active) noise cancelation. I biked with the 1/2nd gen design for ages and plan to get a pair of 3rd gens as a backup for my Pros w/ Transpadency.
Beats Fit Pros sounded better than APP but I didn’t like the comfort on them very much. I’d roll 3rd Gen AirPods tbh
I absolutely LOVE mine! Battery life is pretty good and sound is decent. I use them all day and forget I have them on most of the time. Totally recommend them for athletes.
Aftershokz
I have a pair as well. Very comfy and the battery life is great!
I’m partially deaf and my hearing aids have Bluetooth connectivity to play music through them. A bit expensive tho at $8k $AUS 😉
Jabra elite hands down!
No competition. Jabre elite sport, even better
One of my best purchases regarding gadgets
Can one wear glasses with them?
Yes.. it's really flexible so glasses first then it goes on top. No issues with looseness etc.
Jaybird Vistas. I tried the Jabra Elite Sport, but had two pairs fail in less than a year. Vistas have been rock solid.
I'm in search of the best earbuds to elevate my sports and workout sessions. Whether I’m running, cycling, or hitting the gym, I’m looking for something that delivers outstanding sound quality, stays securely in place, and is built to withstand sweat and intense movement.
Have you tried any earbuds that have impressed you during workouts? I’d greatly appreciate your recommendations, tips, or personal experiences to help me find the ideal pair
soundpeats capsule 3 pro plus
very good sound decent ANC and LDAC support
Soundcore sport x20
Can you tell us your budget and what type of phone you are using?
I have had my Jabra Elite 75t Actives for years now and they’re perfect for sports.
I use them at the gym, running, but also cross-country skiing at temperatures going down to -20C.
Not sure if they sell these anymore, but Jabra’s Active series spans other models too. I think they won’t make any new ones but I vouch for these regardless.
Looking for the best earbuds that drown out the noise while at the gym. Or best volume, not sure what is better. I like the style of the apple air pods but out of my price range. I use a Pixel phone.
Thanks!
Just bought a CMF Buds 2 Pro and I am very happy with the choice. I listen to electronic music for training and the heavy bass really please me.
Soundcore by Anker
Earfun Air pro 4... 🙏🏽
I have not found any the drown out more noise the the Bose QC Ultra’s
Recently got the Sony WFC510 and am very impressed. Under $100 and they actually sound pretty great. No issues with them falling out or anything else while in the gym. Weights. Treadmill. Track. They are gtg
I’m just curious to know what headphones audiophiles use in the gym, lol. Me personally I just use my only pair of bluetooth headphones which is the JBL Tune 510BT. They are honestly unremarkable, but so am I. I like them just fine.
I previously owned the AirPods Pro 2, which were great for the gym, just like others have mentioned here. However, since I've increased my cardio workouts, I switched to the Powerbeats Pro as they stay in place much better during intense sessions and are more comfortable, especially when sweating.
Hey everyone! Just wanted to drop in and share the earbuds that have been total lifesavers for me during workouts. I've tried a bunch, but these three really stand out for their comfort, durability, and sound quality.
I've gone through a few, but here are my top 3:
Each has been great in its own way, just depends on what you're after!
wow you only commented this 3 hours ago, and this is the exact comment i was looking for after i google searched “best earbuds for the gym recommendations reddit”. life saver thank you for sharing🙏🏻
You are welcome! seems like it all aligned,
cheers and Happy New Year!
What was their recommendation? They’ve deleted their comment
It's honestly crazy that Google picked up on a comment made 3 months after the post within 3 hours haha
What was the recommendation
Last summer I picked up the Jabra Elite 8 Active, and they've been fantastic. Being someone who tends to sweat a lot during workouts, these headphones have given me no issues whatsoever.
The audio quality is top-notch, they fit snugly and stay in place, and the battery life is impressive. They're the best headphones for the gym I've ever had (and I've tried quite a few).
Definitely recommend them if you're looking for solid workout headphones.
Edit: Added a link of a pretty good review I found, discussing all the pros and cons (which I mostly agree with)
Need help with finding a good earbuds for Working out and going to the Gym. Need something that does not fall out easily. Having issues with my current buds coming out easily.
I heard of some from
Some features I am looking for
Please suggest and share any good buds you know of.
Beats fit pro is often recommended for staying snug during workout
If you want more options that are tried and tested i'd look at RedditRecs it aggregates reviews from reddit and uses that data to rank earbuds. And you can read what people are happy / unhappy about for each one.
I got technics AZ80 very recently and for the gym I find them honestly perfect. The noise canceling is great, volume is definitely loud enough and they stay in better than other any earbud I've ever had. They don't fall out when doing literally any exercise, even sprinting and running suicides on a soccer field.
The only points of contention are price or if you need full water/dust proof in which case Jabra is the only other option.
I tossed up Denon perl pro but while I've heard better sound quality they're kinda worse across the board for everything else from what I could read about.
DM me if you want or just reply with questions.
i swear my new AZ80 is defective or sth. The ANC is close to nothing for my ears, especially comparing to my previous Linkbuds S.
Have you played around with different sizes ear tips? Mine are a lot smaller than I expected them to be but with a good fitness of bud they're honestly quite amazing to me. Loud gym music or loud winds and I can't hear anything. Busy main roads I can head a little noise from the footpath but that's pretty good in my book.
Thanks, will consider this. I hear good things about the Technics AZ80
Airpods pro 2
Samsung FE stay in and sound good. Samsung Galaxy Live stay in too.
best earbuds for gym
Key Considerations for Gym Earbuds:
Water and Sweat Resistance: Look for earbuds with an IPX4 rating or higher to ensure they can withstand sweat and moisture during workouts.
Secure Fit: Choose earbuds that come with multiple ear tip sizes or wings to ensure a snug fit, preventing them from falling out during vigorous activities.
Battery Life: Aim for earbuds with at least 5-8 hours of battery life on a single charge, plus additional charges from the case for longer gym sessions.
Sound Quality: Good sound quality is essential for motivation. Look for earbuds that offer a balanced sound profile with decent bass.
Noise Isolation or Cancellation: Depending on your preference, consider whether you want passive noise isolation or active noise cancellation to block out gym noise.
Controls and Connectivity: Touch or physical controls for play/pause and volume are convenient. Ensure they have stable Bluetooth connectivity to avoid interruptions.
Recommendations:
Jabra Elite Active 75t: These earbuds are highly rated for their secure fit, excellent sound quality, and IP57 rating for water and sweat resistance. They also offer a long battery life of up to 7.5 hours.
