TL;DR
Fit and Comfort
For workouts, earbuds that stay securely in place are essential. The Jabra Elite Active 75t is highly recommended for its secure fit and sweat resistance, making it ideal for intense workouts [5:2]. Users have noted that these earbuds handle sweat and rain well, which is crucial for maintaining comfort during exercise
[5:3]. Additionally, the Soundcore Sport X10 with ear hooks offers a very secure fit, which can be beneficial for those with piercings or who need extra stability
[3:1].
Noise Cancellation Quality
The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II are praised for their top-tier noise cancellation capabilities, blocking out a wide range of ambient noises, from low rumbles to high-pitched hums [4:1]. Similarly, the Sony WF-1000XM5 has been noted for its excellent noise cancellation, particularly effective against consistent background noises like snoring or engine hums
[4:6].
Sound Quality and Features
In addition to noise cancellation, sound quality is an important consideration. The Jabra Elite 7 Pro is another option that provides good sound quality and is suitable for both music and calls [5:1]. However, some users have reported occasional connection issues, though these are generally resolved quickly
[5:6].
Durability and Resistance
Durability and water resistance are key for workout earbuds. The Jabra Elite Active 75t's IPX4 rating indicates they can handle splashes of water, making them suitable for sweaty workouts [5:2]. While the newer Jabra models like the Elite 85t also offer good features, some users prefer the fit and performance of the 75t model
[5:11].
When selecting noise-canceling earbuds for workouts, consider factors such as fit, noise cancellation quality, sound quality, and durability to find the best option for your needs.
Need a solid recommendation to some headphones that rock and will stay in my ear during workouts. Can anyone point me into the right direction for some good noise cancellation headphones that are set at a reasonable price?
You know what’s crazy , the reason I’m on here is because my beats fit pro’s (the left earbud to be exact) just stopped working after just under 3 years of usage. I liked them a-lot , good sound good enough noise cancellation. But I thought to myself let me see what else is out there maybe there’s something better but now honestly i might just replace the left earbud and call it a day.
Can I get any help around here or you going to leave me on read
Just got a couple of clip-on headphones. They hold up fine during workouts, but since they’re open-ear, outside sounds still come through.
I’m trying to find some good wireless noise cancelling ear buds for working out and have no idea where to post this about and I’m having no luck finding some. So what does everyone use and like?
Bose soundsport. Two years strong and sounds great. Its never fell out when I worked out.
Third. Best one I've used and I have a whole collection.
Seconded.
I have tried 3 different true wireless earbuds. First one was a Cowin, which usually has good headphones at affordable prices. They sound fine, but were constantly losing connection and then only one side would connect, so I returned it. Got a Monoproce next and those worked geat. Both sides stayed connected. Then got these

Sounds good, nice bass. Have been using for @30 workouts at the gym now, haven't had it drop Bluetooth connection once. It is not noise canceling, however if you get memory foam earbud tips, it will noise block everything out and is key in having good audio from in-ear headphones.
Just bought the Jabra Elite 65t. They are aweome. Nice fit, and very nice sound.
JBL free are legit great value, they are true wireless earbuds with great noise cancellation and good fit (they have adjustable sleeves) and long battery life.
Are they for sure noise cancelling? Didn’t see anything on the description
Sorry my bad, I assumed not being able to hear anything but the music makes it noise canceling haha
I just would like to try and get something without wires, they’ve seemed to get in the way a lot for me personally
I currently use over the head earphones and that's been irritating my piercings. What's a good earbud for working out that has good sound and doesn't fall out?
Guess it depends where you're piercings are, but soundcore just released the sport x10.
My double flat and industrial are the ones getting irritated. Have you used this brand before?
I can vouch for soundcore products. I have not tried that model but they have basically a class leading app.
And their products that almost every price point. I have tried there life u2 neckband, The Liberty Air 2 Pro, the Liberty 3 Pro, The q30 over ear, life nc neckband. When I've also tried two of their Bluetooth speakers.
Basically anything with app support and access to the EQ is usually compelling.
They often are pretty bass heavy out of the box. That's why. If that's not your thing, make sure the particular model has app support.
Because the fact of the matter is, fit and personal sound signature preferences very so much, that it helps to have something you can EQ if you're new to the hobby and aren't sure what you like.
I could see it still being an issue with your piercing placement. Probably better to go for the options listed by another poster. I personally have the Earfun Free Pro 2 and they are decent. The wings help keep them in place but the pressure does bother my concha after a bit. Everyone's ears are different though.
Nope. Not personally yet. Lots of reviews on YouTube though
I use the Earfun Free Pro 2's at the gym. Pretty much perfect for working out.
The new Jabra earbuds, excluding the 7 Pro, but including the 75T
1more comfobuds mini
Soundcore Just released a brand new pair with the earhooks.
What's your price point?
Do you want something with ear hooks or just anything that fits really well.
Some people say the beats flex tws (it really well for workouts. A lot of things that have that little wing piece of silicone.
But if you want something that feels super secure, you can't really beat ear hooks.
Ljab epic air sport AnC get 15 hours of battery life per charge and have big ear hooks., firacore And a few other generic companies on Amazon offer completely serviceable offers with the hook sometimes as low as 20 bucks .
Really just depends on your budget because there are some that cost $200 and others that cost $15.
As a general rule, if you're new to true wireless earbuds, I would try something inexpensive just to see how well it fits. That way, if you ever do want to buy something more expensive, you have a better idea of what you like.
I have a pair of Bose QC 25s that I carry everywhere, but am always angry at how much space it takes up. Thinking of making the switch to noise-cancelling earbuds and was wondering which brands / models were good. Is there anything I need to keep in mind when switching from wired to wireless?
Not to gravedig, but TBH I have had nothing but great experiences going from a Bose Quiet Comfort to a Sony WF-1000XM5. It's like day & night. They're not bulky, they weigh practically nothing, and have all the features you'd expect in a noise cancelling headphone. Saw this thread come up under suggested and thought I'd give my 2 cents.
Thanks! Since you have revived the thread, I ended up buying AirPods Pro and have been pretty happy in terms of portability and getting rid of the engine drone. However, I haven’t had good luck with babies crying and that seems to be what people say that noise cancelling headphones are great for. Have you had this test case and how have the Sonys held up?
Sony's have been fantastic! I can't speak on your point about babies crying, but I can say for certain they're exceptional for snoring partners.
That was the primary purpose for purchasing them!
Interesting! I bought ear hook covers for the pros to keep them in as I found that they moved around a bit, which then affected the noise cancelling seal. Will have to look further into the beats fit pro.
The Bose QC II Earbuds are fantastic. They are currently on SALE on Amazon.
The best noise canceling earbuds are Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds Truly Wireless because They're the next generation of the Bose QuietComfort Earbuds II Truly Wireless and have CustomTune technology, which allows the ANC to adapt itself to your environment and ear shape. As a result, they block out a significant amount of ambient noise, from the low rumbles of bus and plane engines to ambient chatter and the high-pitched hum of AC units and computer fans. With ANC on, the battery lasts for about seven hours continuously, and their carrying case holds an extra three charges for top-ups.
Looking to get the best wireless earbuds for exercising and calls. I will use them while running and biking, and also for calls while going for a walk.
Been looking online but I'm just more confused now. Someone please help lol
I have the elite active 75t and they’ve been great. I’m a sweaty guy and they’ve held up to my sweat and the rain, call quality is great. The newer 85t is IPX4 rated so it can handle water splashes, but can’t be submerged.
This has more detail on the IP ratings https://www.jabra.com/blog/waterproof-or-water-resistant-whats-behind-an-ip-rating/
I heard some people actually liked the 75t better than the 85t. Any opinions/insights on that?
I've only used the 75t and I like it, I've never used the 85t so I can't speak to it. If you search on this sub you should find a few people that have done reviews.
Same
I love my elite active 75t but the left bud just crapped out on mine. Keeps dropping audio and I've tried everything to fix. Hoping my warranty replacement goes smooth because my pixel buds - while they're a good stopgap - do not keep out nearly as much outside noise at the gym.
Do you use the active much for calls?
Hope the warranty comes through for you!
Sometimes, but not frequently. More before I upgraded my phone in December (my old handset had microphone issues).
I got them in 2020 and was using them 3x a week for runs with zero problems up until very recently.
I use the Jabra Elite 7 Pro they are honestly pretty good, I however have issues sometimes with the calls as I talk quietly, if you choose this model make sure not to lose the charging case as Jabra only sells the rose gold color
I use the Jabra Elite 7 pro every single day, both when I'm working out, cycling, listening to music in a quiet room or taking phone calls. The fit is azong and the weight is real low, so they've never fallen out of my ear.
They do have some connection problems, but I'm unsure whether they are caused by my mobile or the headphone.
I've heard of these connection problems. How often do they occur, and is it annoying enough you wish you got another pair? And what kind of phone do you have?
Sorry for all the questions lol
It maybe has connection problems once a week. But it works again if I disable Bluetooth and reenable it. The pros outweigh the cons for sure, and I would buy them in an instant again if I lost them.
Connection issues are resolved by putting the buds back in the case for a few seconds. May take one or two tries but it works.
Ear buds falling out of your ears can really knock you out of flow but in your case, I think you need to duct tape them bad boys. A lot of motion is going on in jump rope.
Powerbeats pro
these are the bomb
i like that i can pull them half out to talk or whatever and not need to take them into my hands or put em in my pocket.
i also like that there's no ANC.
i just disable that ear detection right away cause it's super annoying
One of the best purchases I’ve made for everyday life, Ive used them every single day for a little under 2 years now.
I love the Beats Powerbeats Pro headphones!! They are so comfortable I forget I have them on most of the time. They last almost a full 12-hour shift. I usually only wear one at a time so I will just switch if one dies. I have small ears and EVERY other headphone falls out or hurts my ears. These stay put and fit perfectly.
The case is a little bulky but not huge and it can hold its charge for about 2 days give or take depending on how much the headphones are used. They come with 3 or 4 earpiece sizes to make it the perfect fit for anyone. The app is pretty user-friendly as well. The sound quality is great as well. I also love the button on the side of the headphones that can control phone calls and my music.
AirPods Pro 💀👍🏽 Those are are best things to invest in, absolutely mind blowing audio experience
I got my workout earbuds from Back Bay Audio and they stay really snug in my ears. Even after jerky movements I’ve never felt like they’re about to fall out. The active noise cancellation works very well and best of all they were much cheaper than Airpods. Love em.
I've recently had to retire my 2 year old jaybird vistas. I really liked how small the case was. So I'm looking for the best earbuds with a pocketable case that are great for exercise, any suggestions would be really appreciated
Edit ANC is a must gym music hurts my soul lmao, appreciate the help
Agree Earfun Free Pro 2 or or Earfun Air Pro 2 are both good. The fairly new Jabra Elite 4 is solid as well. The Jabra has quite good ANC if you go to a gym with a lot of noise.
Another thumbs up for the Earfun Free Pro 2's.
I am in love with my Earfun Free Mini - just saying! The Earfun Free Pro 2 are also fantastic and have wings to stablize them in your ear.
Beats fit pro
Earfun free pro 2 have been the most.comfortable buds I've used so far for working out. Doesn't even feel like you are wearing them and they don't fall out
I have the Sony WF-1000XM3 (stupid ass model name) and although quite pricey its worth the price listening to quality wireless noise cancelling earbuds.
Reviews says they have better sound quality than the air pod pros.
Do you have mic problems in phone calls? Mine we unusable for calls, even after the firmware update, so I returned them.
Mic works but shitty sound quality for phone calls. The fit kinda sucks as well so I'll need to buy aftermarket tips.
Besides the short falls I have no regrets keeping these.
The sonys are useless for phone calls or teleconference imo. For some reason it also turns the ambient sound on with some kind of metallic mess.
I don’t like the size of the buds and case, it’s slightly too big. It is slow connecting to my phone and I don’t like the annoying voice when you place it in your ears.
I stopped using my WF-1000XM3 in favor of Airpod Pros. Can confirm that Sonys are better from both a sound quality and noise cancellation standpoint. I got the Airpod Pros purely for the convenience of wireless charging and MUCH smaller charging case. I mostly use earbuds when traveling so it was a compromise I was willing to make.
I had both and ended up returning the Sony ones. The airpods sounded better (to me) and didn't have the constant white noise that the Sony buds did when in noise-cancellation mode. Airpods just seemed more refined. Again, this is only in my experience.
My sweat has destroyed so many pairs of "sweatproof" Bluetooth earbuds (including 4 sets from the workout-focused the Jaybird X series -- until Jaybird/Logitech eventually refused to replace them under their "lifetime warranty"). I'd be super hesitant to drop $200 on these.
So far, however, the cheapo MPow Flames I bought a year ago seem to be holding up okay.
If you're not afraid of bone conducting headphones, I highly recommend the Aftershokz Aeropex, or their Xtrainerz
Not sure why someone would be afraid of headphones...
Also, while I'm sure the Xtrainerz sound good as far as bone conduction goes, they really shouldn't be recommended to the average person. They completely lack Bluetooth and instead can only play music from a micro SD card. I understand that Bluetooth doesn't work through water, and that the Xtrainerz are their model designed to be used in the water, but why they didn't add Bluetooth so that they're useful on land I just can't understand.
The Aeropex are probably a solid choice though. I have the Titanium, which are two generations old, and I like them. I'd upgrade to the Aeropex but the proprietary charger is really off-putting to me.
I got the Mpow Flame 2 and dang they give bang for the buck. They might not have the most balanced audio, but for 25€ they do a lot. When working out I don't focus on the music 100% anyways.
Terribly clickbaity considering they only support SBC/AAC. No LDAC support. The Sennheiser Momentum True Wireless 2 still is the top of the heap in the new releases of ear buds as far as sound goes
When it comes to working out, having the right earbuds can make or break your experience. Looking for something with decent build quality and is good at keeping noise in, on the bassier side and I like when the cups surround your ears rather then sit on top of them if you know what I’m talking about. Looking for something in the €60 range but can go up to €90. If I’ve left any details out please comment. Thanks so much
Over ear at the gym kinda sweaty :/
I don’t sweat weirdly enough, just get red
You don’t like earbuds?

Your best bet at that price range is to for go noise cancelling and just rely on passive isolation. Good noise cancelling is not cheap. For something bassy, jbl tune 710 bt. For neutral, k361 bt (slightly beyond budget but they good). If you really want noise cancelling then sony xm4 but it is far beyond your budget.
best noise-canceling earbuds for workout
Key Considerations for Noise-Canceling Earbuds for Workouts:
Fit and Comfort: Look for earbuds that come with multiple ear tip sizes to ensure a secure and comfortable fit during vigorous activities.
Water and Sweat Resistance: Choose earbuds with an IPX rating (like IPX4 or higher) to ensure they can withstand sweat and moisture.
Battery Life: Aim for at least 5-8 hours of battery life on a single charge, with a charging case that provides additional charges for longer workouts.
Noise-Canceling Features: Active noise cancellation (ANC) is beneficial for blocking out ambient noise, but consider earbuds with a transparency mode to stay aware of your surroundings while exercising.
Sound Quality: Look for earbuds that provide a balanced sound profile with good bass response, which can be motivating during workouts.
Recommendations:
Apple AirPods Pro: These offer excellent noise cancellation, a comfortable fit, and a transparency mode. They are also sweat and water-resistant (IPX4) and have a decent battery life of around 4.5 hours with ANC on.
Sony WF-1000XM4: Known for their superior sound quality and industry-leading noise cancellation, these earbuds have a comfortable fit, IPX4 rating, and up to 8 hours of battery life.
Jabra Elite Active 75t: These are specifically designed for workouts, offering a secure fit, IP57 rating for water and dust resistance, and customizable sound profiles. They provide around 7.5 hours of battery life.
Choosing any of these options will enhance your workout experience while keeping you motivated with great sound and effective noise cancellation.
