TL;DR
Proximity to Shuttle Stops
For those looking to utilize the festival's shuttle service, staying near major shuttle stops is key. La Quinta Resort & Club is noted as the closest hotel to Coachella, offering prime convenience, albeit at a steep price [5:1]. Other recommended hotels include those located near Albertsons on Hwy 111 in Palm Desert, such as Best Western Plus Palm Desert, The Inn at Deep Canyon, Holiday Inn Express Palm Desert, and Embassy Suites by Hilton. These locations offer easy access to shuttles and nearby amenities like grocery stores and restaurants
[5:1]
[5:4].
Cost Considerations
The cost of accommodations near Coachella can be quite high, especially during the festival. For example, the Best Western Plus across from Albertsons was $1300 for 2022 but increased to $2100 for 2023 [5:2]. Despite the high prices, the convenience of being close to shuttle stops often justifies the expense for many attendees.
Alternative Accommodations
For those seeking more budget-friendly options, Airbnb and camping are popular alternatives. Areas like Indio, La Quinta, and Indian Wells are recommended for Airbnb stays due to their proximity to the festival grounds [1:1]. Camping, either car camping or RV setups, can also provide a cost-effective solution and eliminate the need for daily travel to and from the festival
[3:4]
[4:6].
Booking Tips
Booking early is crucial, as accommodations fill up quickly once the festival lineup is announced. It's advisable to secure a place as soon as possible to avoid missing out on preferred options [4:3]. Additionally, consider booking with flexible cancellation policies or opting for superhosts on Airbnb to minimize the risk of cancellations

What would be a reasonable area for airbnbs close to Coachella
All the towns nearby are expensive (la quinta, indio, indian wells, palm desert) it really depends on how nice the airbnb is.
I have stayed at Rancho La Quinta and more recently PGA West the last three years and recommend those for easy access.
PGA West has a rear exit gate that puts you out on Madison, it’s an easy straight shot in/out of lot 2A
Is it smart to book this far out? I'm scared they will cancel getting closer to Coachella next year.
I don't think it really matters. I booked my Airbnb around November last year and it was fine. Go with a superhost (who can lose their status if they cancel) and make sure Coachella is already priced in (if it's the same rate they charge as a non-Coachella weekend, that's a red flag). If you see a place you like that works for your crew, then I'd be comfortable booking now...but you also don't need to rush.
They cancel a ton. You can try, but expect cancellations like 75% of the time if its a good deal.
Yeah that’s how I feel. But I just wanna see price range & how far I should look
I have an Airbnb that is literally walking distance from the festival grounds. Gated community across the street. PM if you’d like to check it out and I can send you the link!
Hi am interested for W1 can you send me the link
Do you still have that link??
Hey dm me
messaged you
Reasonable would be anywhere near the shuttle stops as far from the festival as Palm Desert. Personally prefer Indio and La Quinta if you have enough people to reduce the costs of those homes. Indian Wells has some decent spots as well.
I feel any farther (rancho mirage, cathedral city, and palm springs), while having cheaper homes, requires like an hour-ish travel time to the fields.
I booked a hotel about 30 minutes away by Uber, but it feels a bit too far, so I’m wondering if I should just find a place closer to the venue. The problem is, accommodations near the venue are expensive, so I’d need to find someone to share the place with—but I don’t have any friends!!! Haha. If anyone is looking for roommates for accommodations near Coachella from April 18 to April 20, please let me join you!
Airbnb right across from the tennis ground shuttle.
AirBnb 20 minutes out plus preferred parking - and we've got room to spare in house and car if anyone's looking.
As a staff member, avoid the Uber lot. It's far, confusing to get to if you don't pay attention, and thrbtraffic is insane.
Thank youuuu!!!
Car camping >
Hampton inn indio about 5 miles away. Hopefully getting in and out wont be too long
So this will be our first Coachella, where should we stay? I couldn’t find a hotel, I found a Hilton this morning, and when I checked again it was completely sold out. I’m kicking myself for not getting it. It was like 400/night.
I ended up booking the Ritz Carlton but is a Whooping 900/night any other recommendation where to stay? My wife said for that, let’s go to Bora Bora and she’s right.
https://www.coachellacamping.com/accommodations/ for somewhere that you can rent a camper and a space, they'll set it up for you. Also on a shuttle spot. Basic food, the pool party DJ is ummm.... interesting and stuck in the 90s. But I stayed there a few years ago in one of the vintage Airstreams and its a decently priced (for the festival) solid option.
Hey, I will be going for the first time as well and was looking in to their Airstreams -- would you mind giving a short review of your stay at Shadow Hills RV? How was the interior of the Airstream and the vibes of the crowd there?
Of course. Shadow Hills itself if not overly stylish or trendy, it caters to a very different crowd the rest of the year. The staff are friendly though and they serve food, including when the festival ends for late night nibbles. Pool is nice, gets busy. The DJ is stuck in the 90s and needs his air horn confiscating, particularly at 11am :-) And not 11am but here's the vibe https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qecjzZfrcPM
The shuttle stop is right on site and you get a special Shadow Hills shuttle stop wristband. For most rides the shuttle went straight to and from the RV park, once on the way it detoured to one of the hotels. At the end of the night the shuttle stop was the first in the shuttle stop field by the festival and I didn't have to wait very long to get a ride back.
Crowd is mostly 20s and 30s, lots of groups of friends, some couples, the odd single person (I was on my own and didn't feel out of place, even as someone older than 30s :-) )
Airstream wise, I stayed in the one you can see on the site with the check bedding https://www.coachellacamping.com/accommodations/ Its right next to the lake but there will be tents behind you and next to the lake so you have people walking past eg its not hugely private without the curtains closed. The bed was comfy, might be a squeeze for 2 unless you're smallish and not over 6ft. Aircon was great. Full size fridge, gas stove and kitchen with enough to cook for yourself. One armchair and a couple of chairs outside with a small log "table". There is a toilet but no shower, you have to go to the communal showers which were what you would expect from an RV park. If you want a full bathroom then I'd suggest renting an RV onsite already set-up but I liked the charm of the Airstream.
It was a solid, well priced option and the only things that would stop me going back are the airhorn/DJ at 11am and that there's nothing else really around there if you wanted to grab a bite elsewhere. You have to drive. So stock up on any food and drinks on the way in, much easier since you'll drive to drop your stuff off at the Airstream and then park back by the office.
Oh and the wifi was decent.
Camp! :)
Though about it but we are going with the Kiddos!
RV or Camper and set up at the nearest Wal Mart.
This super center allows overnight, but might want to double check. Then just get shuttle passes or drive in each day. 34500 Monterey Ave Palm Desert, CA 92211
How old are your kids? I took my twins when they were 5 and they’ve been dying to go back ever since, they had a blast!
$900 a night isn't so bad. If you can get an Airbnb you might be able to swing it for $900 a night. Maybe a little less for to account for the crazy cleaning fees etc.
Other than that you can RV Camp. Or camp camp.
Not sure if you're going to weekend 1 or 2, but I just booked a room at Residence Inn La Quinta, for weekend 2 and it was only like $600/night which isn't too bad. They still have a few rooms left and it's not too far from Coachella.
Hi all, this will be my first year going to Coachella. Do you guys have any recommendations on where to stay. Camping is not an option since we are flying in. If there there are neighboring airbnb's or cheaper hotels around the valley that would be preferred. I saw that the Coachella website offers hotel travel packages. Has anyone done this?
How come camping is not an option? Me and some friends are flying. When we land, we are renting a car, gonna grab everything from a Walmart on the way and then car camp at Coachella. Could work out a lot cheaper for you.
How does the morning heat and other accommodations like showering work out? If I already have my tickets, can I still purchase car camping?
Morning heat is intense but it doesn’t take away from the camping experience IMO. Just come prepared with a canopy to shade the area. There are showers there which can get busy at peak times but if you go early enough or later in the afternoon it’s all good. They also have VIP showers for $10 which includes use of mirrors and plugs. I believe you can buy car camping separately for $125 for the whole weekend and only one needs to be purchased for the space (enough for a car and tent with as many people you can cram in as possible).
I’d book your hotel ASAP. I thought I could get away with booking mine whenever the lineup dropped as I’ve always done and the one I’d been planning to do was already sold out as well as most of the other ones I’d consider in the area. You want something within 10 miles because those take about 45 to get back to with the traffic after the festival and yet are only 15-20 minutes away in retrospect. Anything further and you could be sitting in your shuttle/uber for hours though those accommodations may be cheaper.
I agree with a previous poster that camping is still a great option and most likely cheaper at this point. It’s so nice not having to deal with shuttles when you want to go in and when you want to leave.
This will be my first time taking the shuttles, what is your experience in regards to hotels for the shuttle pass?
The best hotel for shuttles is La Quinta Resort & Club. I’m pretty sure it’s the closest hotel to Coachella, but it’s $6K for a weekend. Their prices are outrageous for 2023.
Look at the hotels right next to Albertsons on Hwy 111 in Palm Desert. Best Western Plus Palm Desert, The Inn at Deep Canyon, Holiday Inn Express Palm Desert, Embassy Suites by Hilton. The Albertsons is where the shuttle stop is and comes in clutch for last minute groceries, snacks or waters. And then there’s a few restaurants within walking distance for when you get back to your hotel and want drunk food.
I’ve taken this shuttle line every year I’ve gone to Coachella and the waits at the end of the day are never long despite how long the lines are. They do keep it moving. And the shuttle is about a half hour ride.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express this past year across from Albertsons, it was so convenient and the bus trip was quick! I highly recommend it but it’s pricey. I think we are staying in Palm Springs this year.
The prices have exploded. I booked Best Western Plus across the street for $1300 for 2022 Coachella. Now they’re going for $2100 for 2023. It’s insane considering these are all just standard nothing special hotels. But you really can’t beat the convenience so I booked it again lol.
Are you sure they're doing the Albertsons shuttle stop this year?
Yes. It’s a major shuttle stop. I don’t see them changing that.
It’s 4.4K for 3 days for 2 ppl GA
Where are you seeing that rate?
Way back when I was a shuttle manager for Valley music travel many years ago, the closest hotel to the venue was the best place to catch the shuttle so at that time it was the tennis gardens. There could be closer ones at this point I don't know
What are the best towns, cities, hotels, Airbnb’s to stay at when Coachella is back on? Does walking distance make a big difference or are Ubers and Lyfts fairly reliable?
I’ve camped for 9 years. While it would be nice to have a house and a pool, being able to walk 15-20 min back to the campsite at the end of the night rather than wait for an Uber and have to be stuck in traffic is always my deciding factor.
I have never been stuck in traffic while driving to/from coachella
Personally, I recommend camping. However, camping isn’t for everyone.
The biggest drawback to camping is that it is camping. If you don’t like camping, you probably won’t like camping at Coachella. If you don’t mind being a sweaty dusty mess by 3p when you showered at 10a then you’ll do alright. The more effort and planning you put into camping the better your experience will be. Having a good camp setup takes a couple weeks of prep if you’re starting from scratch. Camping is also better the bigger your group is. You’ll want a camping spot for every 2 people or so, but the bigger the better. Benefits of camping are that you are so close to the festival you can be much more carefree. Don’t pay for as much beer, just pound a few when you walk back to camp to change.
Staying offsite is still plenty fun. You still get access to all of the campgrounds and activities. Just be prepared for a few things. Number one is cost, staying offsite is significantly more expensive (camping gear can be expensive, too, though). I’d definitely recommend reserving a locker if you are going to be staying off site. They increased the capacity of the festival recently, and the day parking lots that are closest to the festival hit capacity before noon usually. They have other off site lots that you can park at and take a free shuttle the rest of the way. Leaving at night can be a nightmare, and I’ve heard of people saying it can take hours if you leave after the headliners finish. Getting to the festival also turns into a nightmare if you’re not early. Staying on a bed and having a personal shower are probably priceless to some people. As others have said, rideshare services are hell and there is a good chance your phone will die before the night is over.
Overall my advice is go to where your vibes will be best. If you’re not a camping person, don’t force it and try to be. If you’d be happy in a hotel room or an airbnb, do it and have a blast. Both options require a bit of planning and execution to make things significantly better and more fun.
Camp
Airbnb that’s walking distance. Make sure it’s actually walking distance! Some streets are blocked off to pedestrians. This will be very expensive.
Camp at that one RV resort that has a shuttle.
Airbnb or hotel near a shuttle stop.
Don’t Uber/Lyft!
in 2016 i spent some time investigating finding walking distance options (i switched weekends away from my normal camping crew because a friend was getting married. i hooked up with a new crew, and later our crews merged, but for a while i wasn't sure it would pan out).
the walking traffic restrictions really get in the way of that working well.
camping on site is the best
First, I’d recommend searching the subreddit. Tons of great tips about this from previous years.
Generally, I wouldn’t expect to walk. I tried that my first year. Everything is MUCH further than you think since people are routed to specific exits. Plus you’ve likely been on your feet for 12 hours, jumped around, and walked miles without realizing it.
I’ve personally found a lot of success with Airbnb’s in La Quinta (south of the grounds). Most traffic heads north to Palm Springs so it is the least painful / least time consuming way to get home after a long day.
I also tend to drive in each day (vs Uber which is a shit show). Get in early each day and parking is a breeze; plus exploring the grounds and new artists is one of the best parts). I also pick my closing artists. I’m not there for headliners so I tend to dip out around that time unless I have to stay for someone really special. I’m usually out of the parking lot in 10 min.
Everyone has their own approach though so I definitely recommend checking old posts with a similar question!
I get out of the parking lot within 2 minutes, and I stay for headliners, so YMMV
> Plus you’ve likely been on your feet for 12 hours, jumped around, and walked miles without realizing it.
my phone usually records on the order of 30,000 steps a day. This is while camping.
Do lab to outdoor theatre is half a mile. the sahara is even further.
you rack up a lot of miles just walking around.
Hey everyone!
Wifey & me would love to go to Coachella (Weekend 1) for the first time and we are still looking for an affordable option for sleep / private bathroom.
Cheapest hotel package deals we've found are around 2000 $ + per person, including festival & shuttle tickets.
Airbnb near the festival site seem to be not that much cheaper + need shuttle tickets extra then or go with pricey Uber.
Was also looking for rooms in Palms Springs, but there seem to be nothing near the shuttle bus station (45+ min walking distance).
Do you guys have any better ideas / options /tips maybe? :)
We are coming from Vienna / Austria so this would be quite a crazy trip for us & any help is VERY appreciated 🔥
Thanks in advance! ❤️
I know friends who would rent out a room, not on Airbnb because of HOA regulations. But if you’re interested message me. In La Quinta, just a short drive to the festival.
hey if this offer still stands can you dm me?
No matter where you stay, you can count on 2 out of 3 of the following: 1) wind blown sand in your eyes all day followed by chilly evenings, 2) sweltering heat, 3) warm drinking water that tastes like a garden hose …pick 2
Additionally, traffic coming into the valley is horrible Thursday/Friday and then out of the valley on Monday morning is bumper to bumper for about 25 miles westbound. Repeat for each new festival week.
Enjoy
Way better festival's to attend. This would be like attending the beginnings to an end of fyre festival.
Still looking?
definitely try staying within indio, coachella, and la quinta for your airbnb. anything past those cities is gonna have you have a big commute. one option would be staying in the Yucca Valley area for a cheaper option but it is about a 45 minute drive. sometimes people let you pay to park close to the festivals in their driveways, but most airbnbs/hotels are going to unfortunately be 1,500-2,500. good luck! and i live in the area so ill let you know if i hear of anything available!
Last year I found a hotel that Friday, the day of weekend 2. The price was astronomical but it is what it is. Its really the only trip my husband & I do to get away and also have a break from the kids. This year I'm late on hotel reservations as well. With that being said, what area would be best to look at? Any tips on if it's better to just call the hotels vs looking online? Thanks for any tips you can throw my way. I hate being a last minute person.
I would recommend OASIS PALMS RV RESORT. Prices there are actually reasonable. A bit further out but they have a shuttle service.
I mean hotels.com is what I usually use because you get price, rating, etc etc all at once. I was looking at it this morning and there is a decent selection left if you're willing to pay.
any booking site, and find the cheapest rate for the best hotel.
I have a hotel room at the JW that I no longer need! 3 nights, weekend 1 and 2 queen beds. Message me for price and other info!
I’m staying Palm Springs. I was considering moving closer and really couldn’t find much of anything in palm desert or rancho mirage. Palm Springs did have quite a few spots still open when I checked earlier this week. Crazy expensive of course and 40 minutes from the polo field but I guess it is what is. I’m paying $2500 for 5 nights at a boutique motel called L3 oasis. Not far from shuttle stops. Looks like still some availability for week 2. Good luck!
me and my friend bought tickets to coachella but absolutely cannot afford a hotel around there as the prices were $3-4k. is there any optimal airbnb area at least semi close to coachella festival??
Anything less than an hour away, expect to pay at least $1k for 2 nights. Around 2k as you get closer. So you gotta choose between driving an hour+ or forking up several hundreds more. The map on Airbnb’s app will give you an idea of it
Not for less than 3-4k. Air bnbs will cost the same if not more than a hotel, but you can invite fit more people to save costs
Yeah I just got my Airbnb b it was 2k for four nights
Camping passes are still available for both weekends. It’s by far the most affordable way to do Coachella, and in my biased opinion also the most fun.
I’ve flown to Coachella multiple times with gear (hiking tent, sleep pad, sleeping bag) and rented a car. Shade is huge plus and thankfully I had friends going that had shade, but you can also just buy a pop up when you get there and gift it to someone along with a cheap cooler. If you’re driving distance it’s even easier.
I can’t really understand dropping hotel money for a place that you just sleep at, unless you just have that money to burn, which is sounds like you dont.
You can even rent a campervan that has almost everything you need for a lot less than the price of a hotel.
What sleeping pad do you use? Do you sleep in rental or outside car?
I don’t remember the brand, just the style that roll up really small and are meant for hiking. You can use whatever you have room for in your bags.
I slept in the vehicle once. Rented a minivan that was the same price as a car and had the fold flat seats. That was nice but it does get a bit hot in the mornings. Crack the windows and cover the front windows with towels or shirts for a little less heat.
Exped sleeping pads are really comfortable.
Camping is the way of you can tolerate it. It’s not bad but some people absolutely can’t manage.
You don’t even NEED anything really besides shade , seating area and a place to sleep. You can buy food at the vendors and anything you may have forgot at the general store. One year the wife and I didn’t bring any food outside snacks. We just ate our meals at the festival and camping hub and actually spent less money then we have buying food to camp.
It's my first time.

Do you guys have any recommendation of where to stay? where to get closer to the festival and what time we should get there? I know some people camping but feel like it's going to be non stop partying . Does stay outside requires you to wake up super early to get there? and leave late?
Would love to hear all of your experiences. Thank you :D
Try here https://www.coachellacamping.com/accommodations/ which is also on the shuttle route, assuming you don't want to be inside.
thank you !!
I'd try to stick to the Southern California region if you can
haha yes ofc. u mean palm spring area?
Been doing airbnb’s. Usually split it with a couple of people, comes out to around $300-350 per person for 4 nights! Booked homes near the polo grounds. We usually just walked or took the car (warning, long waiting line of cars just to get in to park)
But been super aware of how sketchy booking an airbnb recently so might do the hotel route this time around and drive to the fest.
Cities to book: Palm Springs, Palm Desert, La Quinta, Indian Wells
thank youo for this details !! much appreciated
