TL;DR
Ticket Purchasing and Resale
When considering attending Coachella, buying tickets during presale is recommended to avoid the rush and uncertainty of general sales [5:4]. While the lineup might not be known at the time of purchase, many attendees find value in the overall experience rather than specific artists
[5:1]. If you decide not to attend, selling your tickets is possible, though you may take a loss if the lineup isn't popular
[5:6]. Preferred camping passes can sometimes sell for a profit
[5:7].
Lineup Expectations
Coachella's lineup is often diverse and offers opportunities to discover new artists. Attendees are encouraged to embrace the festival atmosphere and explore different performances rather than focusing solely on headliners [5:3]
[5:5]. The festival is likened to trying new foods at a restaurant—it's about the experience and discovery
[5:1]. However, if specific artists are crucial to your decision, waiting for the lineup announcement might be wise
[5:3].
Festival Experience
The Coachella experience goes beyond the music. It's an opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere, meet new people, and immerse yourself in the festival culture [5:1]. Preparing for the event by booking refundable flights and lodging can help mitigate risks if plans change
[5:3]. Long-time attendees emphasize that even if the lineup doesn't initially excite you, exploring the festival can lead to memorable discoveries
[5:8].
Potential High-Demand Artists
Certain artists can significantly impact ticket resale values, with names like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Adele mentioned as potential high-demand performers [5:9]
[5:10]. These artists have the potential to drive up resale prices due to their popularity and influence.
Democrats hate it but that won't stop the state of Hawaii from taxing their tips as income! LOL
Those who work for tips or get a big percentage of their income from tips are better off leaving this state for a TAX FREE state where they can enjoy 100% of their tips!
You need to get a job
these are federal taxes not state taxes
Federal not state taxes smart guy
Ugh just making the tax code more and more complicated.
I'd be interested in finding out how many tipped employees in Hawaii make less than the amount required to file a tax return.
nonsense article, tips are already reported in restaurants because of cc transactions
has been a w2 line item already.
if you work in a restaurant and get tips you absolutely will pay less tax this year
my favorite part of this article is when he says restaurant workers are so poor they never owe any tax

I went in 21' and I thought it was a shit show then, but holy shit how it got so much worse every year is incredible.
I’ve only heard the issues of ‘22 before I went to ‘23. All I can say about BRRF ‘23 was every band I saw fucking killed it
I’d say 22 was fine overall, only issue that year was shuttles for people not camping, which I honestly don’t think is an avoidable problem outside of doing parking on the grounds and reducing camping.
I nearly went along with my sister and her friends to that shitshow too... luckly, I happened to get hella sick that weekend and bailed.
I just read about it- what a mess, i would have died of heat exhaustion, probably
Coming up on two years with no official refunds for anyone.
Thanks John Slye. You truly are the cunty cunt
how did you do it? wear all black and lug a case of water through the front door?

Hi All! My wife and I are really debating on going to Coachella next year and buying the tickets when they go on presale tomorrow. We are just a little hesitant because we don’t know the lineup yet and might want to back out if it’s not what we’re looking for. This is such a big investment that I want to ensure we are 100% set on going. Have people found success reselling their passes (including car camping pass)? If so, how did you go about doing this? The passes being non-refundable kinda sucks but I get it. I wouldn’t even be looking to make a profit if I did decide to resell. Just get my money back. This is only if we get the tickets and are really disappointed with the lineup! We really want to cross this off our bucket list, so really hope the lineup is fire 😭
UPDATE WE GOT THE TICKETS, LFG!!!
I've gone to Coachella 16 times. The lineup is always phenomenal. If not about the headliners it's about exploring and learning new music. Think of going to a restaurant experiencing different foods for the first time in an amazing atmosphere with really cool people. That's what it's all about. Book it get your lodging go all in and you will not regret it!
Agree with this, if you love music you’re not going to be really disappointed in the lineup.
This is honestly what I’m looking to hear. I’m stoked to make this happen but hearing so many people saying Coachella was so overrated this year is scaring me lol
100% agreed
We go to local fests and concerts for artists we specifically want to see. We go to Coachella to discover all new awesome artists and sets that we never would’ve went out of our way to see or possibly found out about otherwise
If you go expecting very specific artists to be there you will 100% be disappointed. If that’s what will make you want to sell your tickets just wait until the lineup is announced and avoid the headache. Maybe get flights/lodging figured out if you can find something that is refundable.
Been going since 2010 and this was the first year I wasn’t that excited about the lineup when it first dropped as I didn’t know that many artists. That changed as soon as I started exploring the lineup and my top two performances this year (Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso and Gustavo Dudamel) were artists that I hadn’t even heard about before Coachella.
I buy on presale, always, because that way I minimize risk and don't have to deal with the onsale scrum in January. I know I will have a great time regardless of lineup, and I trust the lineup will allow me to fill out my days with great music.
Usually you can sell weekend 1 for face and weekend 2 at a loss. The year Bey headlined was an exception --- tickets went for well above face both weekends --- but there are only 2-3 artists in the world likely to cause that.
I totally agree with you but I'm curious on who you think the 2-3 artists that would make re-sale way above face
Taylor. Rihanna. Bieber. Adele.
Yes you can sell your tickets if you aren’t interested, you may take a hit if the lineup isn’t popular. But just go, there’s always quality
Tickets sell for a loss, preferred camping sell for 100% profit
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this subreddit for all the advice and information you've put together over the years! This was my first Coachella (and first music festival ever!) and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life, in large part because I was able to research and learn so much from all of you. Our campsite was especially comfortable thanks to the numerous packing lists and camp setups I was able to find.
In an attempt to pay it forward, here are some tips and tricks we learned:
It's a marathon, not a sprint. Listen to your body and take breaks when you need to. Being out in the sun drains your energy so be sure to refuel and recharge regularly.
Stay plugged into this subreddit throughout the weekend. If I hadn't been monitoring the updates y'all shared about getting into camping on Thursday, we definitely would've taken the wrong route and who knows how long we would've been in line.
Definitely do a trial run of your camp site setup. Our group went so far as to chalk up a 10x30 space in our driveway to see how everything would fit, but at the very least, practice setting stuff up before you arrive. This is even more important if you don't camp regularly.
Bring 2 canopies. Shade is a precious commodity and it's so nice to be able to spread out. Thank me later.
We brought a power bank with solar panels and it was perfect for charging our phones as well as blowing up air mattresses. They're a little pricey, but not having to sit by the charging ports was worth it to us.
The wind is no joke. Make sure everything at your campsite is secured before heading out. You don't want to come back to find your stuff has blown away. The plastic stakes we brought were too big for the canopy feet so we used zip ties to connect everything together, and we used extra large binder clips to attach tapestries and string lights. Fortunately, everything stayed put all weekend.
Having some kind of hanging organizer (like for shoes) is super helpful, especially if you have multiple people at your site. We put a bunch of shared items (i.e. tissues, hand sanitizer, first aid kit) in there so everyone could easily find stuff.
Speaking of multiple people at a site...we fit 4 people in 1 spot (2 in a tent, 1 in the back of the car on an air mattress, and 1 on the back seat of the car). We made it work, but it was tight and I'd say 4 is the maximum number for 1 site to be comfortable.
Bring one of those changing tents people use for showers. We did not do this so we had to get dressed inside our tent which was not ideal (especially with an air mattress). It would have been so nice to stand and get dressed normally rather than awkwardly bending over in the tent.
Don't forget ear protection!!!! Obviously for the shows, but also for when you get back to camp. Our neighbors kept the party going until at least 3 AM each night, but I had no problem sleeping with ear plugs and a sleep mask.
Top off your water whenever you get the opportunity. If you get dehydrated, you're going to have a bad time.
Wear a mask/bandana/gaiter to protect yourself from the dust. Saline nasal spray is also a lifesaver.
You can't truly appreciate how large the festival grounds are until you're there. If you have conflicting sets, it's going to be a challenge to get from one to the other unless the stages are close to each other. Study the map and use the app to plan out each day.
Everyone says this, but it's so true: WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. Make sure they're broken in before you arrive and always have Bandaids on hand in case you do get blisters. I saw way too many people struggling to walk at the end of the night because they chose the wrong footwear.
Identify your top must-see, cannot-miss acts and be flexible with the rest. We wandered into several sets we never would have planned to see which just made the experience even better. Likewise, if you're at a stage and the vibes just aren't hitting, go somewhere else. Don't go to a set just because someone might bring out a surprise guest. I almost went to see Mustard in case he brought out Kendrick, but I would've never forgiven myself if I'd missed Gaga's set.
Go with the right group. My friends and I have known each other for years and we've done many camping trips together so I knew they would bring the right vibes, but some of our neighbors clearly didn't heed this advice and it really seemed to ruin the experience for everyone.
Be nice!! Thankfully, everyone I interacted with was friendly and respectful, but I know some folks weren't so lucky. Everyone is at Coachella to have a good time and hear some amazing music. Don't be a jerk, be patient, and have fun!!!!
Was my second Coachella, first time camping. Our neighbors were awesome! So fun to talk to and the coolest people. Shout out Laurie & Fonzie!
Love your camp and jealous your planter got through! My discoball got taken during the car search on Thursday 😩 (would have tried harder to hide it if I knew they considered it glass)
Good call on Gaga over Mustard. Not that I don't like him, mind you.
Pic of our campsite for reference 😊
I love the hanging plant, definitely adding that to my packing list next year
This was my 6th Coachella and 6th time camping, usually in a group that gets camp sites all together. That hanging organizer will be a damn fine addition for 2026, thank you!
Glad you had a great first year!!
Going to Coachella has been a dream of mine for SO long! It was insanely fun and I understand the hype of it now and why people go back every year. This thread has been so helpful (and I managed not to get the Coachella flu thanks to tips on here so shoutout). Got exposed to so much new good music (Sara Landry, Chris Lorenzo, Horsegiirl, Polo & Pan etc.) also getting to see Gaga headline, PLSSSSSSSS an iconic experience. So to anyone who’s being a hater, literally stop it’s truly what you make of it. I fear I am past the era of camping but used the shuttle to/from my hotel in Palm Springs and it was super easy! Might have to come back next year, maybe even solochella 🫣

Duuudeee yesss!!
Definitely give camping a chance! Im 31 and camped for the second time this year and it's one of my best coachellas yet! You get so immersed in the festival and really end up in a totally new world for the weekend!
Your second time was this year???? Nooo! The heat was crazy lol. I didn't realize how nice last year really was until this year, that 100° heat was no joke! It felt so nice after 5pm though
Last year was my first and the weather really blessed is lol I had no idea how harsh the heat could be. Definitely slowed me down a bit on Friday but I'll plan better next year Saturday being cloudy was such a blessing. Right up until t pain and we started cooking at main lmao
come w2 young padawan
will def be the move in upcoming years 🫡
Same, I hope to be financially better that I can do Both chella in the future haha. This was an amazing lineup year too honestly. I wasn't blown away by last year's headliners, and my first year 2023 only Bad Bunny really threw down a huge party. This year it felt like 3/3 main headliners killed it!
bothchella is the next step in your development. lib will be in your near future, i envision.
Would love if you could check DM
yassss diva im glad u had a great time! coachella is really magic :)
I’m really surprised at how many first timers are shocked and appalled that they are experiencing, heat, lines, and exhaustion. LIKE THIS IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST MUSIC FESTIVALS IN ONE OF THE HOTTEST PLACES ??? I’m going for my first time next weekend but like I feel like It’s general knowledge that Coachella is this way. It’s for the music and vibes why are people just complaining and not trying to make the most out of the money they spent ?
I’m surprised at the amount of people showing up during peak hours and complaining about wait times lol
Literally. I’ve seen like 8 tik toks with people saying “don’t come “ and I’m just guessing they base their desire to come off of the influencers with artist access who are being payed to promote this festival ?? Just cuz it’s expensive doesn’t mean it’s luxury for all LOL
No like it’s fucking exhausting people always forget that, you’re literally in the desert lmao
Weekend 1 problems
It’s funny because all of the stages are literally named after deserts across the world haha

I started going to Coachella in 2013 and hadn’t missed a year until this one. First time not being at the greatest party in the desert in over 10 years.
Here are 10 things I wish I knew at my first year:
Your experience is heavily influenced by the people you’re with. If you wanna have a solid time at Coachella, be with positive people. This means if you’re not vibing on the people around you at any given moment, take care of yourself and create some space
To see the best production, don’t go up to the railing. While the front railing may be exhilarating, you’ll get the best view of the lights etc from just behind the first speakers
DO NOT stand right in front of the first speaker stands. It will be really quiet. If you’re not way up in the front, be sure to be behind the first speaker stands (not in front) for good sound
Drink water before booze. I know you’re gonna be excited to drink with all your homies, but this weekend is a MARATHON and you just take care of yourself. Hydrate to start the day and get some water throughout the festival last the entire time
Fanny packs are ELITE. Highly recommend keeping your bag in front of you and not on your back so you don’t get pickpocketed.
Chapstick, gum, hand sanitizer on you at all times. This may sounds silly or not necessary, but I’m telling you, you’ll be so glad you have all of these
If you’re going on a water run, ask your homies if they need water! Again, this is a marathon and we gotta look out for those around us. I had a friend who did this a lot in our group and it really made it so much better
If you have a schedule conflict, choose the artist you may never have the chance to see in concert ever again. I’m not big on splitting sets tbh. I’ve found it to be way more enjoyable to choose a set and stay their the whole time instead of trying to run from one stage to another to see two artists especially with how big the festival grounds are now
If you don’t feel good or if something is making you feel…. funny, speak up and ask someone for help. That is not a sign of weakness. People won’t know you need help unless you speak up
LET LOOSE, DANCE, HAVE FUN. No one is judging you. This is the most freedom you’ll feel in your life if you let yourself run wild and enjoy yourself
BONUS for the MEN: Keep an eye out for your lady friends. Take care of them. Make sure no weirdos are making them feel uncomfortable
Happy Coachella!! Stay safe. Keep on dancing ❤️
If I had advice to share with the new generation of Coachella attendees, I'd say choose your own adventure. No need to always stick with your group. If you wanna see someone and your friends don't, just go on your own adventure and meet back up with them after. Don't sacrifice artists you wanna see just to stick with the group.
We always tell new people it’s YOURchella, do what you want to do so there’s no regrets- we will always see you back at camp!
Everyone should enjoy the grounds alone for a bit. It’s a wild experience. But so freeing. And it’s ALWAYS going to be an adventure.
Yes this is me and my wife! One of the Coachella photographers took a pic of us two years ago. We cherish it so much :)
There’s a gated (sometimes elevated) area situated around the center or rear of the stages and tents. The sound and light techs work the mix from there within the crowd so they know what it’s sounding like to the audience. Naturally the sets sound best around these areas, and if you can get right in front of them there’s no one behind you pushing through
I wish! We’re taking the year off and throwing a Couchella instead. Hopefully we’ll be back next year. 🤞🏼
Anyone who brings gum. PLEASE save the wrapper and spit your gum into it when you're done, then throw it away in a trash can! I had like 8 pieces of gum stuck to my shoes from walking around last year. Absolutely disgusting.
I think they say no gum for this reason. I don't expect anyone to follow that rule, but please y'all! WE LIVE IN A SOCIETY! Dispose of your sticky ass gum properly.
to your second point, if you want the best sonic experience, find the sound booth.
Thanks for the tip! I've stood here previously in smaller shows without realizing all of the benefits. Good to know for this experience.
Solid advice, thanks for sharing
Was just going to say this. I'll take sound booth area over front row at almost any show ever.
Side note does anybody know what kind of camera that they will let in, that can take pictures like that?
It gets dusty AF out there and it seems to get worse every year since they stopped watering much of the grass outside of the actual festival. The only path in/out that doesn't get extremely dusty is Green.
Go in with N95 masks, i.e. the kind that people use for working with drywall and construction. Cloth bandanas don't do jack squat against fine desert dust. Nothing wrong with leaving the mask off to watch a set or taking it off for most of the day (the inside of the festival itself isn't that dusty) but having it ready when people or wind start kicking dust up, especially when you're walking down Red or Yellow path. Better to have them and not need them, you can get 2 for like $10 at any hardware store.
Also, sunblock sunblock sunblock all day.
Honestly doing the Nettie bottle every night after the festival has kept the Coachella flu away for the past few years. The bottle version is easier to use than the pot while in the shower, highly recommend
Honestly even if you don’t have an N95, a bandana or a cloth mask will save you from the black boogers and Coachella cough. Especially when it’s windy or when walking in and out of the festival. It’s gonna be so damn hot, so if a breathable mask is what it takes its way better than nothing.
Coachella cough is REAL
I used nasal spray each night & didn’t get the “Coachella cough” definitely recommend!!
Ive used regular bandannas for the past 3 years and I’ve been fine, people have to remember to put it over your face when walking from stage to stage. That’s when the dust kicks up and most of the time I leave it on during the set since people are dancing around me. But definitely wear a face covering most of the day walking into and inside the festival
Had 0 issue in 2019 not having a mask. In 2023 I had the festival flu for a month and i was so miserable that I now see 2019 as an anomaly lol.
Mask up and nasal spray nightly! A bandana was plenty for me last year but yes an N95 is for sure better. Especially out in the open like OP said
Was that w1 or w2? I went w2 2023 and I was fine
WK1. Wind was only really bad on day 0 if I recall, but yeah the dust got me BAD. I tested for COVID like 3 times over 2 weeks and was never positive, but that was a long month post-Chella. It was the first year I really was walking all around the fest non stop out in the open so I’m sure that plays a huge factor.
In 2019 I was mostly main stage and AMEX lounge.
Had a similar experience, in 13 I was okay and mostly felt like my sinuses were a bit irritated, 14 was completely fine, then 15 fucked me up. After that I made sure to wear a mask especially at the end of the night and saline spray. No issues since aside from the black boogers but that’s manageable.
It only takes one festival fly to completely change your perspective on masking up properly haha. Protection from the dust absolutely factors in to my outfit choices now
While I agree about the caution, n95 is simply not a great fashion choice that most people won’t wanna take lol. A bandana or cloth mask or gaiter is a good middle ground that still makes a HUGE difference. Bring sinus rinse too
That's why I said you don't have to wear it all day. Does/should anyone really give AF what they look like when walking to the Uber pickup? People can barely see you through the dust anyway.
And if you use a valved mask it's not too bad with a covering over.
coachella festival tips
Here are some essential tips for attending Coachella Festival:
Plan Your Schedule: Review the lineup and set a schedule for the artists you want to see. Use the festival app to keep track of set times and stages.
Stay Hydrated: Bring a reusable water bottle and take advantage of the free water refill stations throughout the venue. Staying hydrated is crucial, especially in the desert heat.
Dress Comfortably: Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as you'll be walking and standing a lot. Consider breathable fabrics and layers for temperature changes.
Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen regularly, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and bring sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun.
Portable Charger: Bring a portable charger for your phone to ensure you can stay connected and capture memories without worrying about battery life.
Cash and Cards: While many vendors accept cards, it's a good idea to have some cash on hand for smaller purchases or tips.
Plan Your Arrival: Arrive early to avoid long lines and secure a good spot for your favorite acts. Consider carpooling or using rideshare services to ease parking hassles.
