Coachella Festival Tips

TL;DR

  • Buy presale tickets for flexibility and potential resale.
  • Focus on discovering new music rather than specific headliners.
  • Prepare for the festival experience with lodging and travel arrangements.

Ticket Purchasing and Resale

When considering attending Coachella, buying tickets during presale is recommended to avoid the rush and uncertainty of general sales [5:4]. While the lineup might not be known at the time of purchase, many attendees find value in the overall experience rather than specific artists [5:1]. If you decide not to attend, selling your tickets is possible, though you may take a loss if the lineup isn't popular [5:6]. Preferred camping passes can sometimes sell for a profit [5:7].

Lineup Expectations

Coachella's lineup is often diverse and offers opportunities to discover new artists. Attendees are encouraged to embrace the festival atmosphere and explore different performances rather than focusing solely on headliners [5:3][5:5]. The festival is likened to trying new foods at a restaurant—it's about the experience and discovery [5:1]. However, if specific artists are crucial to your decision, waiting for the lineup announcement might be wise [5:3].

Festival Experience

The Coachella experience goes beyond the music. It's an opportunity to enjoy the atmosphere, meet new people, and immerse yourself in the festival culture [5:1]. Preparing for the event by booking refundable flights and lodging can help mitigate risks if plans change [5:3]. Long-time attendees emphasize that even if the lineup doesn't initially excite you, exploring the festival can lead to memorable discoveries [5:8].

Potential High-Demand Artists

Certain artists can significantly impact ticket resale values, with names like Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, and Adele mentioned as potential high-demand performers [5:9][5:10]. These artists have the potential to drive up resale prices due to their popularity and influence.

Democrats hate it but that won't stop the state of Hawaii from taxing their tips as income! LOL

Those who work for tips or get a big percentage of their income from tips are better off leaving this state for a TAX FREE state where they can enjoy 100% of their tips!

Coachella 2026

Posted by ezbz10 · in r/Coachella · 4 months ago

Hi All! My wife and I are really debating on going to Coachella next year and buying the tickets when they go on presale tomorrow. We are just a little hesitant because we don’t know the lineup yet and might want to back out if it’s not what we’re looking for. This is such a big investment that I want to ensure we are 100% set on going. Have people found success reselling their passes (including car camping pass)? If so, how did you go about doing this? The passes being non-refundable kinda sucks but I get it. I wouldn’t even be looking to make a profit if I did decide to resell. Just get my money back. This is only if we get the tickets and are really disappointed with the lineup! We really want to cross this off our bucket list, so really hope the lineup is fire 😭

UPDATE WE GOT THE TICKETS, LFG!!!

I've gone to Coachella 16 times. The lineup is always phenomenal. If not about the headliners it's about exploring and learning new music. Think of going to a restaurant experiencing different foods for the first time in an amazing atmosphere with really cool people. That's what it's all about. Book it get your lodging go all in and you will not regret it!

100% agreed

We go to local fests and concerts for artists we specifically want to see. We go to Coachella to discover all new awesome artists and sets that we never would’ve went out of our way to see or possibly found out about otherwise

viir · 4 months ago

If you go expecting very specific artists to be there you will 100% be disappointed. If that’s what will make you want to sell your tickets just wait until the lineup is announced and avoid the headache. Maybe get flights/lodging figured out if you can find something that is refundable.

Been going since 2010 and this was the first year I wasn’t that excited about the lineup when it first dropped as I didn’t know that many artists. That changed as soon as I started exploring the lineup and my top two performances this year (Ca7riel & Paco Amoroso and Gustavo Dudamel) were artists that I hadn’t even heard about before Coachella.

I buy on presale, always, because that way I minimize risk and don't have to deal with the onsale scrum in January. I know I will have a great time regardless of lineup, and I trust the lineup will allow me to fill out my days with great music.

Usually you can sell weekend 1 for face and weekend 2 at a loss. The year Bey headlined was an exception --- tickets went for well above face both weekends --- but there are only 2-3 artists in the world likely to cause that.

Thanks r/Coachella

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on this subreddit for all the advice and information you've put together over the years! This was my first Coachella (and first music festival ever!) and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life, in large part because I was able to research and learn so much from all of you. Our campsite was especially comfortable thanks to the numerous packing lists and camp setups I was able to find.

In an attempt to pay it forward, here are some tips and tricks we learned:

  1. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Listen to your body and take breaks when you need to. Being out in the sun drains your energy so be sure to refuel and recharge regularly.

  2. Stay plugged into this subreddit throughout the weekend. If I hadn't been monitoring the updates y'all shared about getting into camping on Thursday, we definitely would've taken the wrong route and who knows how long we would've been in line.

  3. Definitely do a trial run of your camp site setup. Our group went so far as to chalk up a 10x30 space in our driveway to see how everything would fit, but at the very least, practice setting stuff up before you arrive. This is even more important if you don't camp regularly.

  4. Bring 2 canopies. Shade is a precious commodity and it's so nice to be able to spread out. Thank me later.

  5. We brought a power bank with solar panels and it was perfect for charging our phones as well as blowing up air mattresses. They're a little pricey, but not having to sit by the charging ports was worth it to us.

  6. The wind is no joke. Make sure everything at your campsite is secured before heading out. You don't want to come back to find your stuff has blown away. The plastic stakes we brought were too big for the canopy feet so we used zip ties to connect everything together, and we used extra large binder clips to attach tapestries and string lights. Fortunately, everything stayed put all weekend.

  7. Having some kind of hanging organizer (like for shoes) is super helpful, especially if you have multiple people at your site. We put a bunch of shared items (i.e. tissues, hand sanitizer, first aid kit) in there so everyone could easily find stuff.

  8. Speaking of multiple people at a site...we fit 4 people in 1 spot (2 in a tent, 1 in the back of the car on an air mattress, and 1 on the back seat of the car). We made it work, but it was tight and I'd say 4 is the maximum number for 1 site to be comfortable.

  9. Bring one of those changing tents people use for showers. We did not do this so we had to get dressed inside our tent which was not ideal (especially with an air mattress). It would have been so nice to stand and get dressed normally rather than awkwardly bending over in the tent.

  10. Don't forget ear protection!!!! Obviously for the shows, but also for when you get back to camp. Our neighbors kept the party going until at least 3 AM each night, but I had no problem sleeping with ear plugs and a sleep mask.

  11. Top off your water whenever you get the opportunity. If you get dehydrated, you're going to have a bad time.

  12. Wear a mask/bandana/gaiter to protect yourself from the dust. Saline nasal spray is also a lifesaver.

  13. You can't truly appreciate how large the festival grounds are until you're there. If you have conflicting sets, it's going to be a challenge to get from one to the other unless the stages are close to each other. Study the map and use the app to plan out each day.

  14. Everyone says this, but it's so true: WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES. Make sure they're broken in before you arrive and always have Bandaids on hand in case you do get blisters. I saw way too many people struggling to walk at the end of the night because they chose the wrong footwear.

  15. Identify your top must-see, cannot-miss acts and be flexible with the rest. We wandered into several sets we never would have planned to see which just made the experience even better. Likewise, if you're at a stage and the vibes just aren't hitting, go somewhere else. Don't go to a set just because someone might bring out a surprise guest. I almost went to see Mustard in case he brought out Kendrick, but I would've never forgiven myself if I'd missed Gaga's set.

  16. Go with the right group. My friends and I have known each other for years and we've done many camping trips together so I knew they would bring the right vibes, but some of our neighbors clearly didn't heed this advice and it really seemed to ruin the experience for everyone.

  17. Be nice!! Thankfully, everyone I interacted with was friendly and respectful, but I know some folks weren't so lucky. Everyone is at Coachella to have a good time and hear some amazing music. Don't be a jerk, be patient, and have fun!!!!

Going to Coachella has been a dream of mine for SO long! It was insanely fun and I understand the hype of it now and why people go back every year. This thread has been so helpful (and I managed not to get the Coachella flu thanks to tips on here so shoutout). Got exposed to so much new good music (Sara Landry, Chris Lorenzo, Horsegiirl, Polo & Pan etc.) also getting to see Gaga headline, PLSSSSSSSS an iconic experience. So to anyone who’s being a hater, literally stop it’s truly what you make of it. I fear I am past the era of camping but used the shuttle to/from my hotel in Palm Springs and it was super easy! Might have to come back next year, maybe even solochella 🫣

10 things I wish I knew at my first Coachella (after 10 years of going)

Posted by jtarver · in r/Coachella · 4 months ago
post image

I started going to Coachella in 2013 and hadn’t missed a year until this one. First time not being at the greatest party in the desert in over 10 years.

Here are 10 things I wish I knew at my first year:

  1. Your experience is heavily influenced by the people you’re with. If you wanna have a solid time at Coachella, be with positive people. This means if you’re not vibing on the people around you at any given moment, take care of yourself and create some space

  2. To see the best production, don’t go up to the railing. While the front railing may be exhilarating, you’ll get the best view of the lights etc from just behind the first speakers

  3. DO NOT stand right in front of the first speaker stands. It will be really quiet. If you’re not way up in the front, be sure to be behind the first speaker stands (not in front) for good sound

  4. Drink water before booze. I know you’re gonna be excited to drink with all your homies, but this weekend is a MARATHON and you just take care of yourself. Hydrate to start the day and get some water throughout the festival last the entire time

  5. Fanny packs are ELITE. Highly recommend keeping your bag in front of you and not on your back so you don’t get pickpocketed.

  6. Chapstick, gum, hand sanitizer on you at all times. This may sounds silly or not necessary, but I’m telling you, you’ll be so glad you have all of these

  7. If you’re going on a water run, ask your homies if they need water! Again, this is a marathon and we gotta look out for those around us. I had a friend who did this a lot in our group and it really made it so much better

  8. If you have a schedule conflict, choose the artist you may never have the chance to see in concert ever again. I’m not big on splitting sets tbh. I’ve found it to be way more enjoyable to choose a set and stay their the whole time instead of trying to run from one stage to another to see two artists especially with how big the festival grounds are now

  9. If you don’t feel good or if something is making you feel…. funny, speak up and ask someone for help. That is not a sign of weakness. People won’t know you need help unless you speak up

  10. LET LOOSE, DANCE, HAVE FUN. No one is judging you. This is the most freedom you’ll feel in your life if you let yourself run wild and enjoy yourself

BONUS for the MEN: Keep an eye out for your lady friends. Take care of them. Make sure no weirdos are making them feel uncomfortable

Happy Coachella!! Stay safe. Keep on dancing ❤️

If I had advice to share with the new generation of Coachella attendees, I'd say choose your own adventure. No need to always stick with your group. If you wanna see someone and your friends don't, just go on your own adventure and meet back up with them after. Don't sacrifice artists you wanna see just to stick with the group.

There’s a gated (sometimes elevated) area situated around the center or rear of the stages and tents. The sound and light techs work the mix from there within the crowd so they know what it’s sounding like to the audience. Naturally the sets sound best around these areas, and if you can get right in front of them there’s no one behind you pushing through

Mask up

Posted by lItsAutomaticl · in r/Coachella · 4 months ago

It gets dusty AF out there and it seems to get worse every year since they stopped watering much of the grass outside of the actual festival. The only path in/out that doesn't get extremely dusty is Green.

Go in with N95 masks, i.e. the kind that people use for working with drywall and construction. Cloth bandanas don't do jack squat against fine desert dust. Nothing wrong with leaving the mask off to watch a set or taking it off for most of the day (the inside of the festival itself isn't that dusty) but having it ready when people or wind start kicking dust up, especially when you're walking down Red or Yellow path. Better to have them and not need them, you can get 2 for like $10 at any hardware store.

Also, sunblock sunblock sunblock all day.

Honestly doing the Nettie bottle every night after the festival has kept the Coachella flu away for the past few years. The bottle version is easier to use than the pot while in the shower, highly recommend

Honestly even if you don’t have an N95, a bandana or a cloth mask will save you from the black boogers and Coachella cough. Especially when it’s windy or when walking in and out of the festival. It’s gonna be so damn hot, so if a breathable mask is what it takes its way better than nothing.

Coachella cough is REAL

Ive used regular bandannas for the past 3 years and I’ve been fine, people have to remember to put it over your face when walking from stage to stage. That’s when the dust kicks up and most of the time I leave it on during the set since people are dancing around me. But definitely wear a face covering most of the day walking into and inside the festival

Had 0 issue in 2019 not having a mask. In 2023 I had the festival flu for a month and i was so miserable that I now see 2019 as an anomaly lol.

Mask up and nasal spray nightly! A bandana was plenty for me last year but yes an N95 is for sure better. Especially out in the open like OP said

WK1. Wind was only really bad on day 0 if I recall, but yeah the dust got me BAD. I tested for COVID like 3 times over 2 weeks and was never positive, but that was a long month post-Chella. It was the first year I really was walking all around the fest non stop out in the open so I’m sure that plays a huge factor.

In 2019 I was mostly main stage and AMEX lounge.

Had a similar experience, in 13 I was okay and mostly felt like my sinuses were a bit irritated, 14 was completely fine, then 15 fucked me up. After that I made sure to wear a mask especially at the end of the night and saline spray. No issues since aside from the black boogers but that’s manageable.

It only takes one festival fly to completely change your perspective on masking up properly haha. Protection from the dust absolutely factors in to my outfit choices now

While I agree about the caution, n95 is simply not a great fashion choice that most people won’t wanna take lol. A bandana or cloth mask or gaiter is a good middle ground that still makes a HUGE difference. Bring sinus rinse too

That's why I said you don't have to wear it all day. Does/should anyone really give AF what they look like when walking to the Uber pickup? People can barely see you through the dust anyway.

And if you use a valved mask it's not too bad with a covering over.

coachella festival tips

Here are some essential tips for attending Coachella Festival:

  1. Plan Your Schedule: Review the lineup and set a schedule for the artists you want to see. Use the festival app to keep track of set times and stages.

  2. Stay Hydrated: Bring a reusable water bottle and take advantage of the free water refill stations throughout the venue. Staying hydrated is crucial, especially in the desert heat.

  3. Dress Comfortably: Wear comfortable clothing and shoes, as you'll be walking and standing a lot. Consider breathable fabrics and layers for temperature changes.

  4. Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen regularly, wear a wide-brimmed hat, and bring sunglasses to protect yourself from the sun.

  5. Portable Charger: Bring a portable charger for your phone to ensure you can stay connected and capture memories without worrying about battery life.

  6. Cash and Cards: While many vendors accept cards, it's a good idea to have some cash on hand for smaller purchases or tips.

  7. Plan Your Arrival: Arrive early to avoid long lines and secure a good spot for your favorite acts. Consider carpooling or using rideshare services to ease parking hassles.

  8. Explore Beyond Music: Take time to enjoy art installations, food vendors, and other activities around the festival grounds. Coachella is known for its immersive experiences.

  9. Stay Safe: Keep an eye on your belongings and be aware of your surroundings. If you feel overwhelmed, find a quiet area to relax.

  10. Have Fun: Embrace the experience, meet new people, and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere!

Recommendation: Consider bringing a small backpack to carry essentials like water, snacks, sunscreen, and a light jacket for the evening. This will help you stay organized and comfortable throughout the festival.
