What Redditors are Saying

When it comes to choosing the best tall e-bike for someone who is 6'8", there are several factors to consider, including frame size, comfort, and specific features that cater to taller riders. Here’s a detailed look at what you should keep in mind based on discussions from various sources:

Frame Size and Fit

Finding an e-bike with a suitable frame size is crucial for taller riders. Many standard bike shops do not carry frames larger than 61 cm, which may be insufficient for someone who is 6'8" [2:1]. Some users suggest that even a 61cm frame might not fit well for someone of your height [2:3]. However, some brands like Canyon offer XL and XXL sizes, which could be more appropriate for individuals in the NBA height spectrum [2:5], [2:11].

Specific Bike Recommendations

Several specific models have been recommended by tall riders in the discussions. The Trek Domane AL 3 disc with a 61-inch frame was mentioned as a potential option for tall riders [2]. Additionally, the Dirtysixer brand offers bikes specifically designed for very tall people, with sizes available for those up to 7'5" [2:7]. Another recommendation for tall riders includes the XXL Santa Cruz Hightower LT, which has been praised for its suitability for tall individuals [3:2].

Customization Options

For those struggling to find a bike that fits perfectly, customizing an existing model can be a viable solution. This might involve getting an XL frame and swapping parts such as the stem or seat post to better accommodate a taller rider's body dimensions [3:1]. However, some commenters caution that this approach might not always result in a comfortable ride, especially if the bike is not purpose-built for taller individuals [3:4].

Considerations for Tall Riders

It's important for taller riders to consider both the frame size and the stack height when selecting an e-bike. Some brands, like Canyon, offer bikes with larger stack heights in their XL and XXL sizes, making them potentially suitable for taller riders [2:5], [2:11]. However, it's crucial to try out these bikes before purchasing to ensure they provide a comfortable fit.

Custom Solutions

For those who are significantly taller, custom-built bikes may be the best option. Brands like DirtySixer specialize in creating bikes for very tall individuals, although they tend to be more expensive [2:7]. If budget allows, investing in a custom bike can be worthwhile for ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable riding experience.

General Advice for Tall Riders

Some general advice for tall riders includes checking manufacturer sizing guides for leg length compatibility [1:3] and considering aftermarket modifications such as longer seat posts or stems to improve fit [1:5], [2:9]. Also, consulting with local bike shops to see if they can order larger frames for test rides is recommended [2:2].

In conclusion, finding the best e-bike for someone who is 6'8" involves exploring different brands and models, considering customization options, and prioritizing comfort and fit. Specific recommendations include the Trek Domane AL 3 disc, Canyon bikes in XXL sizes, and custom solutions like those offered by Dirtysixer.

Mid-Range Laptop for College?

Posted by Rade_Crazy · in r/laptops · 15 days ago

I have just started college and I'm on the hunt for a mid-range laptop that balances cost and performance. I need something that can handle light gaming and multitasking with multiple tabs open, without slowing down. Given my travel time, I’d prefer a slim, lightweight design for portability.

Although price isn’t my primary concern, it plays a role into purchasing.

The college post are all the rage lately. Look at the previous post for ones within your budget. People like to say will cost isn’t an issue, well can you buy a $5000 laptop? If the answer says yes, then no it’s not an issue, but if you can’t, it does play a role in this.

Best Laptop for a College Freshman 2025? Need Reliable Student Laptop Recommendations [Budget $800–$1,200, US]

Posted by mimamolletje · in r/SuggestALaptop · 1 month ago

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US:
$800–$1,200, US

Are you open to refurbs/used?
Prefer new, but open to refurbished laptops if they’re a great value for students

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life?
Battery life and build quality are top priority for college use, followed by performance; ultrabook or slim laptop style preferred

How important is weight and thinness to you?
Very important — I’ll be carrying it between classes and around campus daily, so a lightweight laptop is a must

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A.
13–15 inches for portability and comfort

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run.
Primarily note-taking, research, online classes, and streaming, plus light Adobe Photoshop and Premiere work

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? At what settings and FPS do you want?
Not a gaming laptop priority, but light indie or casual games at medium settings would be fine

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)?
Reliable build, comfortable keyboard for long writing sessions, responsive touchpad; touchscreen optional

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion.
I’m looking for the best laptop for a college freshman that can last through all four years without constant repairs. Strong battery life for all-day use, portability, and durability are essential. I’ve seen student laptop recommendations like the MacBook Air, Dell XPS, and Lenovo ThinkPad, but I’d love to hear from people who’ve used them in real college settings.

Since a reliable build and portability is a big factor, I would suggest a Lenovo T14. It is very portable at 2.9 pounds and has a battery life of around 10 hours doing general tasks like schoolwork. These T series laptops are especially durable and has great reliability. If you have any questions lmk :)

I was also wondering about that. Motherboard of my laptop died a few weeks ago and replacing it is almost as expansive as buying another one (like 750$ CAD). I also take laptop suggestions, same as OP, but 14" screen (so it's not too big) with HDMI and USB ports. Ideally something that'll last for years, since my current one lasted only 2 years.

Since you prioritize battery life, and build quality, and you are going to need good CPU and GPU for video editing , and gaming, I would recommend Acer Swift X 4060 because of the following :

Specs:

  • Screen: 14.5" OLED 2880 x 1800 120Hz Calman Verified
  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 Processor 155H which is very powerful and you care about performance.
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060
  • Ram: 16GB LPDDR5X
  • Storage: 1TB SSD

Why I am recommending it:

  • Powerful GPU in small form factor, 14 inch laptops with powerful GPU are rare breed, and this config/model hits a great balance between the two.

  • High-Quality Display*: This features a OLED 2880 x 1800 120Hz which is better resolution display, providing vibrant colors and sharp visuals.

  • Long battery life as it lasts for around 12hours *Very good GPU and CPU for Adobe Photoshop and Premiere.

  • Lightweight as it weighs 3lbs , so it matches your request of portability.

  • Premium build quality and material which ensures longevity and you care about build quality.

You can check out this Lenovo LOQ 15 for 1050 usd. It has CPU AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 8GB, 16GB DDR5 RAM, 1TB SSD, 15.6-inch 144Hz FHD IPS display (with 100% sRGB), backlit keyboard, and Windows 11 Home.

if your not doing engineering, go for the macbook pro, any model would be good but try to get 24gb ram or more and a chip based on what you need.

If your budget is 3K usd you can probably get the higher end ones. Battery life is awesome, better than windows, you can def have multiple tabs no issues. I saw a video where over 50 apps were open and it still worked fine, windows could never. and deltarune runs on mac pretty sure. And itll def last longer than a windows laptop.

TDLR: get a macbook, the higher the specs the better obviously, but most will last you for 6 years.

I'd say something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Predator-Display-AI-Powered-Processor-PHN14-51-797W/dp/B0D3M3D8KC

Battery is amazing cuz of the Ultra 7 155H. It has the 16gb version of the 4060 so that's good for games. The only downside is that it has 16gb ram (it's ddr5 though, you can also add a 2nd stick yourself). Probably the best deal you can get right now, unless you can find a 4070 for a similar price.

Any Windows laptop with 16+ GB of RAM, 512+ GB of storage, and either a Lunar Lake processor (Intel Core Ultra 2xxV processor) or AMD AI 300 series will be great for strong battery life and solid performance for light use.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-omnibook-x-flip-2-in-1-copilot-pc-14-2k-touch-screen-laptop-amd-ryzen-ai-5-16gb-memory-512gb-ssd-meteor-silver/6613861.p?skuId=6613861

  4. Display Quality: A Full HD (1920 x 1080) display is ideal for clear visuals, especially for reading and studying.
