Best liquid highlight for natural Glossier lovers?

ORIGINAL POST

I'm looking for a non-glittery liquid highlighter that has the Glossier vibe. My natural MSBB powder highlighter doesn't stick to my dry skin and the haloscope just never dries down. I've heard the Rare Beauty liquid highlighter is good, but it's always sold out when I look on Sephora. While I'm looking around, does anyone have any suggestions?? Tnx <3

I’m not sure if this may work for you but Lush has a highlighter/skin tint called Feeling Younger that looks absolutely amazing and leaves your skin feeling soft. (I think it may have glitter in it but it’s definitely not chunky).

i have it and it def gives a beautiful glow but i would say it’s more like a toned down twilight vamp shimmer. i think it’s just super small mica but i like it because of the sparkle instead of some highlighters looking metallic

Not liquid so maybe not helpful, but fenty highlighters are... untouchable. They are so fantastic, you can brush it out so it's just a nice glow or leave it concentrated and you'll look like a spotlight. For a little more budget friendly, I like colourpop's super shock highlighters and their powders!

I am forever mourning Milk's holographic stick in stardust, it was such a beautiful natural pink, exactly what i think glossier is (or should be lol) going for with haloscope. They discontinued it literally a week before I ran out of my little mini, rip my angel lol.

I have been holding this liquid highlighter for probably 7 years. It is legit the best & one of my favorite products but it’s finally almost gone 😭 I am open to other shades too! Still have never found a liquid highlighter like this before. It never comes off plus the shine is unreal!

When you say breathtaking, do you want something super blinding and metallic a la 2016 YouTube, bright and glowy (but not with more oomph than a natural radiance effect), dewy and wet looking, or do you want something that looks more like a more natural radiant lit from within glow?

If it’s the last one, then Bobbi Brown Pink Glow ✨. You can even build it up to be more bright and glowy, and if you apply super heavily or with a more dense brush, you can make it pretty blinding!

I want to try Ofra highlighters but I tell myself no every time I see them at Marshall’s because I usually use eyeshadow as highlighter (with the exception of Bobbi Brown Pink Glow) 😭. I never tried them back in the day and I feel the feminine urge to do 2016 makeup with it 😂😂.

Highlighters without chunky glitter

Posted by DontMatronizeMe · in r/MakeupAddiction · 1 month ago

I’ve been on this search for so long and have bought and returned SO many things— I’m just so tired of looking and figured I’d come to the experts. Every highlighter I try has chunky pieces of glitter in it. I’m 34 and I just feel like glitter doesn’t have a place in my skincare routine anymore.

I have dry skin too so if there’s a liquid option that’s more Pearlescent and less disco-ball when you’re in the sun/harsh light, open to that as well. I’d of course love the ease of a powder option and have yet to find anything that isn’t crazy glittery. HALP!

Perricone No Makeup Highlighter is very subtle, pearlescent, and has no glitter. They also have a solid “balm” format that looks interesting.

I also like Rare Beauty Highlighter bc it packs a bit more shine. I do not find this glittery (hate glitter!) but you might disagree.

Hi everyone! I’ve been on the hunt for the best highlighter that gives a shiny, radiant finish on the face. I’ve tried Kiko, but it’s not shiny enough for me, and Fenty feels a bit too glittery.

I asked for recommendations in TikTok comments, and some girls suggested the Rare Beauty liquid highlighter, while others recommended Benefit. I’m still undecided and would really appreciate your advice!

I love the Rare Beauty powder highlighters! Take note they’re very fragile tho. If you drop it on a hard floor, it’ll shatter instantly. A little goes a long way, and it works immediately! It’s very finely-milled, so the texture is like silk. Not chunky at all!

dewy, glowy, lit from within highlighters

hi lovelies, i’ve been wanting to get back into highlighters after mainly focusing on blushes (love love love) and sometimes bronzers and need some help. i have oily skin but i want to achieve that dewy, glowy, lit from within look. should i go with powders, creams, or liquids? for example, rare beauty’s powder vs liquid highlighters (i’ve heard good things about both). do yall have favorites?

Skip rare beauty both the liquid and the powder. The liquid can bunch up in spots easily and the powder is not a lit from within look it’s metallic and intense.

With oily skin I’d go for powder. Baked highlights give that more natural look. I’d start there. Sephora collection makes baked gelées highlights so I’d maybe start there to see if you like the look of highlights on yourself.

Usually when I hear people talk about the lit from within look, it's not just on their cheeks but more so an all over glow for their makeup look. Is that what you're going for? Because if so, I'd be looking more at illuminating primers or all over glow type products like the Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filter.

Those type of products are designed for that. My current two favorite all over glow products that I apply before foundation/concealer are the Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Glow Serum (I'm about to finish my second Juice Boost) and the Saie Glowy Super Gel (Starglow is my go-to, but I like Rose Glow too).

4 upvotes on reddit
LucieFromNorth · 16 days ago

Underpaint with Charlotte Tilbury Flawless Filters. Highlighters are too intense for this look.

3 upvotes on reddit
R
rovingred · 15 days ago

I think this look comes from skin prep as much as products, ensuring your skin is moisturized. Something like the Rhode Glazing milk or Laneige Cream Skin is great to use as well before applying makeup.

For the makeup itself I think an all over product is more what you’re looking for than a highlighter. I like Saie glowy super gel for this personally, but plenty of brands make an all over glow product for a base.

I like rare powder highlighter but don’t think it has the look you want, it’s very shiny. For me the most lit from within is Westman Atelier stick highlight.

Liquid Highlighter Review

Posted by stresspacito_burrito · in r/glossier · 2 months ago

Hi! I got the new liquid highlighter from marketplace and thought I’d leave an early review. (I don’t leave reviews ever so bear with me)

PACKAGING The component are big and a little inconvenient. It’s a brush tip that dispenses the product somewhat thicker than I’d like personally. I wish it was like the Rare Beauty applicator to be honest

PRODUCT It’s definitely more shimmery than you’d expect. It looks prettier on a swatch than it does on your cheeks imo but that could also be personal preference! This highlighter is less subtle than the Haloscope but less oily looking too.

How’s the finish? Is it sticky/dewy to touch or dries down natural? Was it easy to blend out and is there a noticeable fragrance?

12 upvotes on reddit
melsautomatic · 1 month ago

The finish is very pretty and easy to build up. It’s not a lit from within glow, it definitely is reminiscent of Niteshine. It’s not sticky and it dries down well. No fragrance to be detected by my sensitive nose. Easy to blend out with my fingers and a little goes a very long way! The bottle will last forever. Lasted for most of the day on my combo skin.

To expand - for those who didn’t experience the Play line, I think this will feel like a cheap & unpolished version of the Rare Beauty liquid highlight. They really could’ve used the nostalgia aspect w/ OG packing to market the product and show people who are new to it that they did a liquid highlight back in the day. Idk 🤷🏻

Personal fave is Hourglass six-pan palette that comes out at Christmas which includes two blushes, a couple highlighters and two bronzers. It does my whole face and is amazing to travel with.

If you choose Dior, get the Dior Forever Couture Luminizer for that wet look you’re after.

Pump/liquid highlighters that are like Tower 28 Super Dew?

Posted by Sigmonkp · in r/MakeupAddiction · 5 years ago

I researched for days (weeks?) a highlighter that has absolutely no glitter, shimmer, sparkle, or special aesthetic texture whatsoever.

I'm pretty new to highlighters (and makeup in general) despite I'm almost 30 :) so at some point I started to think that maybe there is no such thing, and that highlighters by definition are shimmery.

But! I found one called Tower 28 Super Dew, which is 100% what I imagined and wanted. I really like it. There is no shimmer whatsoever, it seems to last for as long as I've wanted it on throughout the day.

But, it was a hot summer week when it shipped, and whether in-transit or my mailbox, it all melted inside the container. Given that this plastic square requires a little work to latch/unlatch open and close, it's a mess every time I use it - the product is spread all over the lid and originally it was coming out the sides before I cleaned it off.

It's not the end of the world, but is there any other product like this that comes in a pump or something? I tried a Marc Jacobs Dew drops before this, and I loved the "format" except that one is way too sparkly or shimmery. I have a Saie product on the way, but I think it's tinted. We'll see how it goes.

What else could I use, so that I won't have to time according to the weather to buy it, or use an air conditioner to keep in tact even on 90-100+ degree, humid days? (I don't always have air conditioning either)

I don't care that much about cost either - I don't like to shell out a fortune as much as the next gal, but for as often as I wear makeup I'm expecting this to last me possibly the next decade :) so I'd rather have quality and my problem solved than to limit myself to a cheap thing.

Edit (Again): I've found 2 that look like what I want, on different ends of the price spectrum. Any input?

Hi! I know this is old but I was wondering how you ended up liking your Saie product. Which one was it?

I’m looking for a gloss to go on my eyelids and can’t decide between the Saie Dew Balm Bouncy Marshmallow Highlighter or the Danessa Myricks Dew Wet Balm (which I see you also tried). Thank you for your help!

Best liquid highlighters

Key Considerations for Choosing Liquid Highlighters:

  1. Ink Quality: Look for highlighters with vibrant, smooth-flowing ink that dries quickly to prevent smudging.

  2. Tip Type: Consider the tip shape (chisel or fine) based on your needs. Chisel tips are great for broad highlighting, while fine tips offer precision for underlining or detailed notes.

  3. Color Variety: A good set should offer a range of colors for better organization and visual appeal.

  4. Transparency: Choose highlighters that are transparent enough to see the text underneath without obscuring it.

  5. Non-Toxic and Safe: If you're concerned about safety, especially for children, look for non-toxic, acid-free options.

Recommendations:

  • Sharpie Liquid Highlighters: Known for their bold colors and quick-drying ink, these highlighters come in various tip sizes and are great for both highlighting and underlining.

  • Stabilo Boss Original: These highlighters are renowned for their quality and come in a wide range of colors. They have a chisel tip that allows for both thick and thin lines.

  • Zebra Mildliner: If you prefer softer colors, the Mildliner offers a unique dual-tip design with a broad and fine tip, making them versatile for highlighting and note-taking.

  • BIC Brite Liner: A budget-friendly option that still provides good quality and a variety of colors, perfect for everyday use.

Choosing the right liquid highlighter depends on your specific needs, whether it's for studying, note-taking, or artistic purposes.
