When searching for the best powder highlighter, it's important to consider factors such as finish (glittery vs. non-glittery), tone (cool vs. warm), and personal preferences like skin type and desired effect. Below are some popular recommendations based on various user experiences.
Non-Glittery Options
For those seeking a highlighter with a natural sheen and minimal glitter, several options stand out. Melt Cosmetics' Digital Dust in Stargazer is highly recommended for its glossy, non-glittery finish and suitability for fair skin [1:1]
[2:1]. The Benefit Cookie highlighter is also praised for providing a beautiful sheen without glitter, making it suitable for various skin tones
[1:3]
[2:2].
Affordable and Natural Choices
If affordability is a key factor, Wet & Wild MegaGlo highlighting powder in Blossom Glow is a favorite for its excellent performance at a low price point [3:1]
[3:5]. Essence Pure Nude is another budget-friendly option known for its natural, glowy finish without shimmer or glitter
[3:2]
[3:6].
Luxury and High-End Picks
For those willing to invest in a higher-end product, Dior's Backstage Glow Palette offers a beautiful, non-glittery glow [1:5]. Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance Baked Powder in shade 01 is another luxurious choice, providing a subtle highlight that users rave about for its longevity and smooth application
[4:2].
Wet-Look Finish
For a highlighter that mimics a wet look, Clio Prism Air Highlighter is recommended for its glossy glow without chunky glitter [5:4]
[5:5]. Another option is the Rom&ND Veilighter, which offers a glass skin effect while remaining subtle
[5:5].
Conclusion
Ultimately, the best powder highlighter will depend on your specific needs and preferences. Whether you're looking for something budget-friendly, luxurious, or with a particular finish, there's a wide range of products available to suit different tastes. Consider trying samples or visiting stores to see how these highlighters perform on your skin before making a purchase.
Rare beauty's new highlighters look gorgeous. I haven't bought one... Yet. I have a tray full of highlighters that I couldn't use up in 30 years if I use them everyday. I typically reach for my Dior backstage highlighter quad. Oh also the new Hourglass highlighter and blush combo. I have the elephant one.
I’m obsessed with the RB powder in Flaunt and getting the new rose gold one, Mesmerize!
I bit the bullet and ordered the white one 🙄🤣
def avoid the dior luminizer if you don’t want glitter. I recommend benefit’s cookie highlighter! it gives such a gorgeous sheen and i feel like it just works so well on so many different skintones. it’s beautiful
I love the cookie highlighter
The Dior Forever Pearlescent Glow definitely has very fine glitters! I love the Backstage Glow Palette is beautiful and not glittery!
I have the Natasha Denona My Dream Trio and I love it, especially the center one! I recently saw the Iconic London one used in an IG Reel though and it was beautiful!
Melt Cosmetics Digital Dust in Stargazer.
The photo online makes it look like it would be too deep for fair skin - but it’s not. Super glossy non-glittery highlighter in a beautiful baked gelee formula. I wish their shadows were this formul.
Came here to say exactly this!
I used to use the Tarte Amazonian Clay Highlight in Exposed and it was my absolute FAVOURITE.
Is there anything similar to that? I’m light/neutral toned. I have the becca rose gold highlight currently and I’m not liking the warmth, definitely need something more cool toned.
I personally like Benefit's Cookie highlighter. I also have the ABH Sugar Glow Kit palette and use that frequently.
I really like Jouer’s powder highter, I think it’s so underrated. Benefit’s cookie one is also really nice
For a liquid one i’d say Rare. They have a nice range too.
I just recently found what I will now call my holy grail powder highlighter at Sephora. I wish I had discovered it sooner!! Melt Cosmetics “Digital Dust Highlight”. They have gorgeous shades, my favorite is “Stargazer”. I think it would actually be a good dupe for the tarte shade you liked! I also think it’s flattering on every skin tone. I love it because it’s beautifully pigmented and reflective, with a super smooth application. (And no glitter chunks!) I highly recommend. I can’t believe (but I’m kind of relieved) it’s not super famous!
Have you seen the beehive/honeycomb duo?! OMG it looks incredible!
YES!! Gorgeous gorgeous. I’ve fallen in love with this line! I even made a solo post recently in this sub raving about the highlighter lol blows my mind how unknown this brand is. Everything is so pigmented and luxurious. The packaging is mega minimalistic and maybe that’s why it hasn’t grabbed attention? (I actually really like it) but ugh so good!! All of it!
Makeup by Mario, just launched new Sephora Collection, Charlotte Tilbury's latest drop, Melt Cosmetics, Dior Luminizer...
Check out Temptalia for shade dupes! :)
My current makeup fixation is highlighter. Powder highlighters specifically. What's your favorite? Glimmery, shimmery, natural, alien, affordable, expensive. I'm interested in any powder highlighter and why it's your favorite.
Essence pure nude is so natural and glowy, not shimmery or glittery. It’s the only highlight I keep coming back to.
It’s really good. I like sparkly crazy highlighters but when I’m feeling more sedate or doing something professional this one is absolutely perfect!
Just ordered!
Wet & Wild MegaGlo highlighting powder. I've replaced mine multiple times since I've used it up. It is my holy Grail over my high end ones.
Second this!
Thirding! I use it on my collarbones & deltoids, too, and it is so subtle but effective. Not glittery at all & the pan is kinda huge.
The Wet n Wild MegaGlo highlighter in the shade Blossom Glow is my absolute favorite and also one of the most affordable. I bought it as my first ever highlighter and it’s still my go to.
This is my holy Grail!
I love this one and it's like $5.
Essence pure nude is chefs kiss for natural. More extreme, colourpop flexitarian. Wet n wild precious petals is in between.
Essence
I’m hoping to find a nice subtle highlighter powder - I often use as a blending eyeshadow but every one I buy seems so ‘glittery’. I was recommended MAC skinfinish soft and gentle but I find it a bit glittery and not very ‘smooth’ if that makes sense? Thanks in advance 💜
Obsessed with the Laura mercier matte radiance baked powder in the shade 01 highlighter. Actually such a lovely nice subtle highlight powder, it’s my HG! Expensive but I’ve had it for years and I think it will last longer than I will 😂 Go try it out at Mecca if you’ve got access to it.
It’s expensive but the Dior forever couture luminizers are beautiful. I’m talking about the ones that come in just a single pan and not the backstage one!
Ugh yes, I have one of these - Pink Glow - and it is gorgeous. I'd buy Nude Glow too if not for the price.
The only thing I don't like about the Dior highlighters is the fragrance, though that may be a plus for some.
I've heard the hourglass powders are nice. I've never personally tried. I don't wear makeup enough to drop the coin. The Vegan w7 powder used to be lovely but a quick search seems it's not available anymore, which is a shame. All my others do have glitter (which I'm not a fan of either)
Vegan W7 highlight powder can still be found in several Chemist Warehouses in their "last chance" bins for a few dollars. If you want it, go hunting and stock up before they're completely gone!
W7's Glowcomotion highlight powder is still available as normal, and apparently is a dupe for a Charlotte Tilbury highlighter. (Can't confirm, never owned any CT makeup.)
I use Nars liquid highlighter and find it more subtle than most others in my collection, so could be worth checking their powders.
Ooo thanks for the tip!
I wish I loved the hourglass powders (I sure spent a fortune on them) but they highlight every imperfection and fine line. The hourglass vanish flash stick is much better! Non glittery. I couldn’t believe I was spending so much on a highlighter, but, I’ve had it for years and not even halfway through it so it lasts forever.
I love the Mary Lou-manizer from The Balm! Got mine at priceline and it's my everyday go to!
I quite like the Maybelline Master Chrome. Nice colour and one of the smoothest I’ve found personally, I don’t like the glittery look either
i know it is virtually impossible to get a totally not makeupy powder highlighter as all of them have shimmers or glitters that are scattered to some degree, but i really don’t enjoy using balms even though they give a true wet, not glittery look. what are some powder highlighters that can emulate that effect the best?
The Dior quad highlighter is seriously so pretty. I saw it in-store and it had the most beautiful soft glow—super natural, not glittery at all.
The highlighters from 2an and Glint are very fine and give me a more natural/smooth looking glow.
If you are looking for a smooth , wet look highlighter Clio prism air highlighter would be great it has almost glossy glow without chunky glitter another one can be Etude glow beam highlighter.
I love the Clio Prism but only the one on the left. The one on the right is glittery. I wish they'd sell them separately.
they do! they have 6 shades, but only #1 gold sheer, #4 grace opal and #6 violet ruby are the smooth ones without glittery particles
If you want smooth and wet look without chunky glitter some options can be Clio prism air highlighter ,Rom&ND veilighter. They have glass skin effect without being too shimmery
Seconding this post because I'm extremely picky about highlighters and only ever end up liking powder or cream-to-powder formulas. I could use more product recs, particularly in cooler tones.
I did purchase one of the more natural shades in 2an's lineup though (ND01) and I really like the natural sheen it gives despite still having a slight shimmer. However, I did find that the product wore off on the quicker side in comparison to my non-AB highlighters that gave a more dramatic effect.
Going to a wedding in Ibiza and I want to look glowy and natural! I’m not into very shimmery / fake looking stuff. Can anyone recommend any good ones?
Merit's day glow highlighting balm is really pretty and looks very natural!
This! It’s absolutely gorgeous.
I love the rare beauty highlighter. I use a ever so slightly damp sponge to apply on cheek bones and my fingers to tap on brow bone and nose. It’s lovely.
I found it very chalky and think Benefit High Beam is way better 🫠
Love benefit high beam.
The liquid or the one that comes in a pan?
The powder one in the pan
Chanel luminizer. 10/10
Benefit High Beam
The OG subtle highlighter ✨️
If you want more subtle glow: Clinique’s chubby highlighter stick or Jane Iredale’s highlighter stick. If you want something with a little more oomph try Benefit’s Cookie.
Powder highlights only please! 🥰
I love the Rare Beauty powder highlighters! Take note they’re very fragile tho. If you drop it on a hard floor, it’ll shatter instantly. A little goes a long way, and it works immediately! It’s very finely-milled, so the texture is like silk. Not chunky at all!
Are there visible glittery particles to the rare beauty ones?
I swatched them all in stores and IMO they're very sparkly.
Not in my opinion
Kevin Aucoin Glass glow! The best!!!
Yes! I can agree with this..I love it. I have it in bronze.. recently got Inner Beauty Project Face Glaze, I like it as well, a little less tacky feeling..but Aucoin does shine a bit more!
I'm currently using the L'Oréal lumi le glass sticks and they give the glass dewy look perfectly.
I have tried the hince and the espoir kbeauty options and the L'Oréal by far is the best
I use the 610 shade
I love these!
Wet'n'Wild Mega Glo, it's great to use with a slightly wet make up sponge, and yes, it's mega glow
I swear sometimes cheap is the best
fenty diamond bomb 100%
THIS. Like wet diamonds on the face 🥰😁
Essence ColourPop Relove by revolution and more expensive my favorite ofra
Essence pure nude highlighter
This 100 times.

&be luminizing powder
Hince true dimension balm and cezanne pearl glow highlighter, both super natural
i have the chanel balm and i heard cezanne is pretty glittery too
clio prism highlighter. Go onto YT to see the video, 5:16
i saw many reviews that says it is too glittery and reflects pink-gold which i reaaally dislike
There are two formulas within that product line. One is intentionally more glittery/wet/sparkly and the other is a more smooth, dewy finish. I don’t remember off the top of my head which colors are which but there’s 6 colors now and 3 of each in each finish.
Their shade gold sheer isn't that glittery

I love the look of the hince/glint/chanel stick balm highlighters but I absolutely despise the feeling of stickiness. Does anyone have any reccs for the most “natural” powder or cream powder highlighter? No glitters! I reckon the most natural it would get is a super fine shimmer
canmake munyutto highlighter in color 01 its the best !!
I’ve seen so much about this and the cezanne highlighter! This is a long shot but have you tried both before?
I’ve swatched them before and personally prefer the canmake as the cezanne ones had a white base that I felt like didn’t suit my warm-medium skin tone. I also found the sheglam (I know they have a bad rep, but this was purely based on in person swatching on my Japan trip) highlighting powder to be ever more finely milled and natural for my warm undertone. I don’t think either give you the shiny, “plump” effect of hince stick but it is a natural finish. And even with the hince stick, once it dries (<30min) there’s no shine so I find that to be a negative too. Can’t win them all ;-;
The cezanne ones come in different 'shades', not just white. There's a beautiful rose champagne colour that has amazing colour payoff, hence just a v light swipe would give a lit from within feel.
no 😭 im sorry
this one ⬆️ it's not glittery and very high shine putty formula
HERA Healthy Glow Dewy Balm
INOUI Highlighter
Red Chamber New Wandering Multi-Purpose Stick in Closing
Those with no sticky feeling, esp. Red Chamber's.
Cezanne Pearl Glow Highlight in 01 Champagne Beige 🍾✨️ has super fine shimmers that gives a beautiful, natural looking glow on the skin
It’s hard to get the wet look with a powder highlighter, the finer the shimmer the wetter the look, but at some point it starts to look metallic instead of wet. It’ll look wet in pictures but in real life it’ll look metallic, iykwim?
If you must have powder perhaps the wakemake one that is a dupe for the Dior quad that all the celebrity makeup artists in Korea use?
You might have better luck with cream highlighters that aren’t sticky, it’ll give a more natural look than a wet glossy look but paired with a dewy base and setting spray it’ll work better than powder I think.
Finally, you can try experimenting with wrapping masks such as the medipeel one. It’s what aespa had on in one of the MVs. Once it’s dried it won’t be sticky, but the corners might lift if you move your face too much.
Girlscrush is the answer - it went viral on xhs for giving that wet look while being a powder
best powder highlighters
Key Considerations for Choosing Powder Highlighters:
Formula: Look for finely milled powders that blend easily into the skin for a smooth finish. Avoid overly chunky or glittery formulas unless that's the look you want.
Shade Range: Choose shades that complement your skin tone. For fair skin, opt for champagne or icy tones; medium skin can go for peachy or golden hues; deeper skin tones look great with bronze or rich golds.
Pigmentation: A good highlighter should be highly pigmented, allowing for buildable intensity. Test swatches to see how much glow you can achieve.
Finish: Decide if you prefer a subtle sheen or a more intense glow. Some highlighters offer a natural finish, while others provide a more reflective, metallic look.
Longevity: Look for products that claim long-lasting wear, especially if you need your makeup to last throughout the day.
Recommendations:
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter: Known for its creamy texture and stunning glow, it comes in various shades that suit different skin tones.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter: This highlighter is highly pigmented and provides a beautiful, luminous finish that works well on many skin tones.
Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter: Offers a unique range of shades and a dual-pan option for versatility. The formula is smooth and blends beautifully.
Wet n Wild MegaGlo Highlighting Powder: A budget-friendly option that delivers impressive pigmentation and a beautiful glow without breaking the bank.
Choosing the right powder highlighter can elevate your makeup look, so consider your preferences for finish and shade to find the perfect match!
