TL;DR
Main Series Order
The consensus across discussions is clear: begin with "Naruto," then proceed to "Naruto Shippuden." These two series form the core of the Naruto storyline and are essential for understanding the main plot and character development [1:1],
[2:1],
[5:1].
Movies and Canon
Most movies in the Naruto universe are not considered canon and can be watched at your discretion. However, "The Last: Naruto the Movie" is an exception as it is canon and should be watched after completing "Naruto Shippuden" but before starting "Boruto" [1:6],
[2:1]. The other movies can be enjoyed for additional entertainment but do not impact the main storyline
[1:7].
Boruto Series
After completing "The Last: Naruto the Movie," you can move on to "Boruto: Naruto Next Generations." This series follows the adventures of Naruto's son, Boruto, and introduces a new generation of ninjas [1:3],
[5:3].
Filler Episodes
Both "Naruto" and "Naruto Shippuden" contain filler episodes that some viewers may find less engaging. Many fans recommend using a filler guide to skip these episodes if desired. Websites like http://animefillerlist.com can help identify which episodes are fillers [2:2],
[5:1].
Additional Resources
For those interested in a more streamlined viewing experience, "Naruto Kai" is a fan-made edit that removes filler content from both "Naruto" and "Shippuden" [1:5]. Additionally, checking out the watch order wiki or subreddit FAQs can provide further guidance on watching the series
[1:4],
[4:1].
I have just found time to start watching Naruto after heavy recommendations from everyone I know even remotely watching Anime. But there are just so many titles that I am confused. I want to know the right order to watch the series including all the movies, Shippuden and Boruto (which I understand is the latest installment of Naruto universe) TL:DR; want to know the correct order to watch everything in the Naruto universe to properly enjoy the show in all its glory.
EDIT: Found a decent chronological order in the wiki page of subreddit. General order seems to be Naruto->Shippuden->The Last (movie)->Boruto Also only the last movie is canon and others are not.
I'm not quite sure how this is complicated. But Naruto -> Shippuden -> Boruto. Movies whenever, they're not canon like 99% of shounen jump movies
The Last (Shippuden movie 7) is canon
Oh yeah. Well then I guess OP watches it before Boruto
Well the movies had me baffled. But I just learned that they aren't Canon, except for the last shippuden movie
Naruto > Naruto Shippuden til episode 479 > The Last: Naruto the movie > the rest of Naruto Shippuden > Boruto: Naruto the movie > Boruto series
Hi saiyan_prince1998, it seems like you might be looking for a show's watch order!
On our watch order wiki you can find suggested orders for a ton of shows (hopefully including the one you're looking for), as well as information that will help you decide on what to watch for the more complicated series <cough> Gundam <cough>.

Actually if you look for something called Naruto Kai (not conventionally found) its a fanmade combination of all of Naruto and Shippuden that excludes filler.
Wow! That is really interesting. Will check it out too. Thanks!
Naruto then Naruto Shippuden. Then the Naruto the last movie (its the only canon movie). Then Boruto.
Naruto, then Nartuo Shippuden, then the movie Naruto the Last. Other movies aren't required.
Oh!1!1 ok!!!
There are also a lot of filler episodes you can skip if you find them boring. I might try watching them first but some of them don't make any sense and you'll probably know when you stumble across a filler arc. You can always check at animefillerlist.com
It gets worse in Shippuden I find because they will just go back like 5 years for no reason to pad for run time
Lucky man wish I could restart 😭
You can!
I’ve rewatched it like three times 😂🤦🏾 ( skipped fillet the second and third )
Heehhe 😼‼️
I’ve never ever watched Naruto in my life but I’ve always been interested in it. I personally like to watch things in timeline order so I can see the entire story from beginning to end. From my understanding there’s a couple movies and shows for Naruto so what’s the order I would watch them all to have that perfect straight timeline? Thank you in advance!
First decide if you want to watch the filler, of not you may skip all the movies besides the last one and skip filler episode of the animes (can find filler list online)
Thank you soldier 🫡

Read the manga!!!
Nartuo --- Naruto Shippuden ( that's the order you need to watch it in ) . Have never watched movies so , can't comment about them .
[removed]
Road To Ninja is not meant to be watch for another 100 episodes or so.
Try to look up (on Wikipedia) when the movies were released, and then check when the episodes were released. That's the best way to avoid being spoiled by a movie
I'll check, thanks!

Hi guys, I just started watching Naruto. I am on third season. I need help to watch Naruto and shipudien in chronological. Can someone please explain.
Thanks
Watch Naruto.... then Shippuden
Naruto
Shippuden
The Last movie
Boruto
Naruto, Naruto Shippuden
Naruto, Naruto shipudien, the last, then Boruto Just follow the ep order or find a filler guide. The movies have no real impact on the story except the last, but that's after shipudien.
I’m currently watching it on Netflix and I was wondering what I should watch after
Complete Naruto (Part 1) on Netflix then
if you can use vpn, switch to Canada and watch Naruto Shippuden (it has only first 222 eps, ie s10)
After that use any pirated site
If you wish to see SUB you can just use crunchyroll, above is for Dub
What movies would u recommend watching
I love Naruto too much, and I personally think every movie is worth watching and entertaining.
But only The Last: Naruto The Movie is Canon
“Naruto: The Last” is a canon movie that’s meant to be watched before episode 494 of Shippuden. I’ve seen “Road to Ninja” and “Bonds” which were pretty good
Here’s a guide to figure out where the movies fall into the Naruto timeline
Hulu has all of Shippuden in sub and the first 140 or so eps in dub
I started naruto not long ago and im only 15 episodes away from finishing in what order do i watch the rest of the movies/series
Series: Naruto - Naruto Shippuden
Copy Pasta

P.S: only The Last is canon
Do you want to continue on to boruto?
Sure i guess
Watch Naruto, then Shippuden, then the movie The Last. The other movies aren't canon so you can kinda watch them after
Just wanted to watch Naruto but I don't know it's order and google is very confusing so can anybody please help with the correct order of the anime.
Naruto (episodes 1 - 220)
Naruto Shippuden (episodes 1 - 479)
The Last: Naruto the Movie
Naruto Shippuden (episodes 480 - 500)
Boruto: Naruto Next Generations (episodes 1 - present)
... or just read;
Naruto (chapters 1 - 699)
The Last: Naruto the Movie (Shippuden Movie 7, officially considered Chapter 699.5)
Naruto (chapter 700)
The Seventh Hokage and the Scarlet Spring
Boruto (chapters 1 - present)
(I haven’t included all the light novels to keep it as basic as possible)
Boruto then original, then shippuden, then kai
Naruto
Naruto shippuden
Skip all fillers of course
Naruto
Naruto: Shippuden
Boruto: Next Generations
Naruto, Naruto Shippuden, and the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations if you care about that.
There is a lot of filler in Naruto and Shippuden, so look up "Naruto filler list" or "Naruto Shippuden filler list" and you'll see which episodes are canon and filler. I personally suggest to skip all of the filler, because I think it's boring, and it obviously adds nothing to the story, but there are many people who like it as well. But to be clear, watch the episodes that are marked 'mixed canon/filler.' That pretty much just means that there are scenes that happened in the manga, and other added in by the people who made the anime most likely to add comedic value.
I’ve just started to watch Naruto and I just noticed there is a special order one chick I should watch the series and movies. Which would be the right order because I really like the show and want to know everything.
Here’s a watch guide for you.

PS: All the movies and the Ova’s aren’t Canon at all, except of course the movie The Last and the ova The Day Naruto became Hokage , but still i have put them in the timeline to make them at least somewhat relevant, tho some characters shouldn’t be there and some are irrelevant.
Refer to Naruto Filler List and Shippuden Filler List if you wish to see only the CANON eps
Naruto, and naruto shippuden. Make sure to avoid filler episodes. There are many lists online to help you but don't look too far ahead as there could be spoilers in the titles
And after I watch both of these can I watch the movies in any order
Probably. All of the movies, except for movies 7 and 8 in shippuden arent canon, so you should be fine. Make sure to watch shippuden movie 7 after ep 484(?). Shippuden movie 8 takes place after the series ends but there's no point in watching if you intend to watch boruto, as there's an arc that covers and expands that same movie
What are the filler episodes and would it be fine if i watch them anyways
The dude below already answered in full detail but I would like to add, just dont watch boruto
Filler episodes don't follow the main plot and are irrelevant to the main story. It would be a waste of time to watch them since they're written by the anime studio and not the original series's author so they don't advance the plot at all and are never mentioned again so it's safe to skip them. However, mixed episodes (ones that include both manga canon and a little filler) should not be skipped.
Use this filler guide for Naruto and skip the red highlighted episodes and only watch the green.
After you finish Naruto, you can start watching Naruto Shippuden. Use this guide for Shippuden
Now, the only relevant and canon movie in the series is The Last: Naruto the Movie. Watch this movie after episode 493 of Naruto Shippuden.
After you finish Naruto Shippuden, you can start Boruto: Naruto Next Gen. Boruto Filler guide
As for the other movies, they are not relevant or canon to the story so you can watch them after you finish the series. Here's the order of the movies:
hello! i've never seen naruto, but i've heard lots of good things and im wanting to get into it when i have time. thing is, theres a lot of content for it, and i'm wondering what order i should watch it in as a first time viewer?
i'm hoping to do it in release order, because i feel most anime's are intended to be viewed that way on the first watch, but im struggling to find the release orders that include the movies lol. does anyone have a guide? should i watch the shows first, then move onto the movies? or will the content make less sense? thank you!
I mean just go from episode 1 then 2 and so on. Movies and many episodes are filler (not part of actual story) thus after watching the full series if you really interested you can go back to those movies and filler episodes if you want.
Just google Naruto Filler guide and you should be good. Or go with release order if you want to watch everything.

This is how I watched. Skipped all 100% filler and movies. Would recommend. Naruto was rough for me. Ship was much better, and got better every episode.
As someone who does love the show it's totally fine to skip filler if you're not feeling it. Depending on what you like though there are some actually good filler episodes so at least give some a try. Just don't feel like you have to watch a specific filler arc.
Also if you do get to Boruto, there is a really neat story there but you have to watch the manga canon episodes rather exclusively. It's where all of the character and story development happens. Also the vibes are quite different but give it some time to start cooking and you can get some rewarding stories.

No watch something shorter instead like Hunter x Hunter or Vinland Saga
Dragon ball z
In my opinion you should start but watching Naruto Shonen Jump ( All episodes on Netflix) and then work your way to Naruto Shippuden. I’ve watched all the movies but only a couple to me are really worth watching and I don’t believe there’s any correlation to the actual cannon part of the story. It’s a long watch but it’s my favorite anime and I wish I could watch it all over again for the first time. P.S. there’s a lot of filler in Shippuden so if you don’t care to watch all 500 episodes you can look up which episodes are fillers, some of em are pretty cool though and funny.
