TL;DR
Naruto Kai
A popular method for watching Naruto without fillers is through Naruto Kai, a fan-edited version that removes all filler content and unnecessary flashbacks. This version streamlines the viewing experience and focuses solely on the main storyline [1:1],
[2:1],
[4:2].
Filler Lists
Another approach is to use online filler guides, such as Anime Filler List, which detail which episodes are fillers and can be skipped. These lists help viewers focus on the canon episodes that contribute to the story's progression [1:8],
[4:6].
Noteworthy Fillers
While most fillers can be skipped without impacting the main narrative, some arcs and episodes are considered worthwhile by fans. The Chikara Arc (Power Arc) is often recommended due to its high-quality animation and engaging fights [1:6]. Additionally, episodes focusing on characters like Itachi and Kakashi provide valuable backstory and are worth watching
[1:4],
[4:3].
Reading the Manga
For those who want to avoid fillers entirely, reading the manga is an option. The manga contains no filler content and provides the original storyline as intended by the creator [2:2],
[3:3].
Personal Preference
Ultimately, whether to watch fillers depends on personal preference. Some viewers enjoy the additional character development and side stories provided by fillers, while others find them distracting from the main plot. A common recommendation is to skip fillers initially and return to them later if desired [5:1],
[5:5].
I was wondering if I can skip all filler episodes completely, or is that going to affect the whole process of understanding the story ? I watched it way before but the filler made me take a lot of brakes and stopped watching it at the end And now I wanna watch it again and save some time
In r/naruto there's an naruto ultimate or something like that they cut the fillers and everything that doesn't matter and u have only the good. Sorry I don't remember the right name
i have been rewatching all of naruto kai and it actually makes it bearable, even the parts that were so boring all got neatly trimmed or even removed to make a great experience
Its better to watch kai now a days, since the original naruto is just crumped up with filler, there are some fine filler episodes but the amount of filler episodes naruto has is rly boring
You can watch it without wasting time on the fillers, most of them are waste of time and doesn't add anything to the story.
The only filler I wouldn’t skip is Itachi and Kakashi stuff.
Do you know what episodes those are? I was planning on skipping filler but that sounds interesting
Ya you can skip all fillers no problem, but except Chikara Arc/Power Arc that one you can't skip it's just too good. and has a lot of cool fights with movie quality.
This list should help you out.
Look up Naruto Kai. It's a fan cut version that takes out all the flash backs and filler.
It seems that more than half of every episode is the intro or recap of the previous episode. Anyway to watch a cut version that takes this hoopla out?
Read the manga. Has no intros, outros, and no fillers
Im here to tell you that even after 4 years this is the most dickish of responses. Ass.
Hm, why? I find reading the manga is the best way to cut off the fillers and all unnecessary content. I was answering the question, why was it bad?
Netflix
I've been rewatching it through Naruto Kai. It's a little janky at parts and most of the openings are cut out which is a little bit of a bummer but over all the best way to watch the series.

Thank you good sir. Godsent
Titel. In missed out on my childhood now at 27 i want to watch whole Naruto series but it's said to be too big with filler episodes (side characters stories etc) which is like 40% of the series so can I just watch the main/canon episodes or do most of the people watched filler episodes while growing up?
Skip fillers. Watch them later if you feel like watching some additional side stories.
Skip the filler, go back to it later. I read all of the manga first, then watched all of the anime. Trust me, the canon story is what's important.
Just watch at your own pace. I have watched each and every episode and all the films over the period of 1 year or more. I highly recommend it.
I watched all the episodes, also the filler ones, when I was 18 and 19 years old.
I grew up watching og naruto so definitely watched some fillers but largely skipped most of em once I could tell it's fillerm.
I know there's some good ones but for the most part the series is already incredibly long, if you want you can look up the best fillers and include them during your watches.
I really want to binge watch Naruto again but bruh there's so many filler arcs I guess. I only want the good stuff. The things I see in the internet are completely different and I don't know if this link is correct either? https://quotetheanime.com/filler-list/naruto/
Look up NarutoKai. Ita free to download and its basically someone who has edited all of Naruto anime so it only follows the canon story. It's actually really good.
Only fillers I watched tbh were the early naruto ones, and the backstory fillers of clans or characters like kakashi obito or itachi ans shisui. Other ones were dragging it imo I might’ve missed a couple nice fillers
I mean, you don’t really have to worry about fillers for Part 1. You just watch episodes 1-135 and then watch the second half of episode 220. Or you can watch that last filler arc, episodes 216 to 220, because it transitions nicely into the Gaara Retrieval Arc in Shippuden and gives some screen-time to a background character in that canon story arc.
When you get to Shippuden, you have to decide whether or not to skip canon’ish fillers, like the 3 Tails filler that basically fills in the gaps left by the manga. It’s a little tricky to skip that arc because it mixes in some canon scenes.
You really only need a filler guide for Shippuden. This one here seems fine https://www.animefillerlist.com/shows/naruto-shippuden
I see, thanks for the advice. It does make sense that some fillers fill in some plot holes
Just watch the filllers. It's good Fer ya.
If only Naruto had a beach episode😢
Go to animefillerlist.com. You'll see all the filler episodes and canon episodes there.
i don’t want to but every time i start watching filler episodes i stop bc i get bored.
Watch fillers when ur done watching them without
Watching them ruins the suspense
o bet, this makes sense
Don't watch them, trust me i thought the same thing, like would i be missing out on anything, trust me dont, just save yourself from all that pain, dont listen to anyone else, listen to me and trust me, do not watch it
bet thank u 🙏🏼
No worries man, i watched like half of the filler in shippuden and idk why, i would literally watch it in 2x speed, idk wtf the point was, such a waste of time, do yourself a huge favor and enjoy the cannon arcs of naruto buddy :)
Some fillers are pretty good, dont watch all of them though
kimoi.
Honestly, if you just want to see only what applies to the core story as adapted from the manga?
Yeah, probably best.
If you just like content that displays characters on unique and sometimes weird journeys?
Honestly, I don't think most of the filler is nearly as bad as most make it out to be.
Regardless, I personally would say watch it all, but maybe go back for the filler after the rest, if you'd prefer.
Recently, I decided to revisit the whole Naruto anime. Back then I was watching some episodes here and there but was never fully invested. Then I just read the manga up until the end of Shippuden. Since then I’ve forgotten a lot about what happened. So far watching the anime has been fun and nostalgic, and I can’t wait for what’s next.
I’m currently in the arc where the 3rd Hokage is clashing with Orichimaru, and where Naruto is about to fight Gaara. I plan to go straight to ep 220 right after they finish the Sasuke retrieval arc to save time. Are the episodes in between worth watching?
90% of the filler is straight up dookie, but some of it is genuinely amusing and interesting to watch.
It’s only funny if you acknowledge how dumb most of it is, like the Mecha Naruto one or the fake Naruto as well.
Only a few, especially the kakashi anbu arc
No
There’s a few I found pretty good, but for the most part a lot aren’t. I love that filler episode where the team tries to find out what’s under Kakashi’s mask lol.
Boruto Fillerless is a fan edit version of Boruto thst cuts out all the unnecessary filler and makes it 1:1 with the manga! 293 episodes have been trimmed down to 22 episodes.
Is bullshit like Urashiki also cut?
yeah but people like iwabe are still there pierrot really loves putting him in canon material
That's great. I don't mind Iwabe and the rest of the class, atleast they don't embarrasse the older cast like Urashiki did with Gaara
Cringe.
How? Anime filler is Nickelodeon b-roll garbage.
The more peaceful era is the point of Boruto's era
How is it different from boruto kai
im pretty sure boruto kais momoshiki design comes from the movie and the red momo isnt the canon momo
There’s a difference between anime canon and filler.
There is more than 22 episodes worth of manga canon content. Plus, the episodes based off of the novels are not filler
it only covers the main storyline(boruto manga) not the novels
22? Damn.
Shippuden episodes 349 through 361 are not filler they are one of the best arcs in Naruto the kakashi gaiden arc.😭😭😭
I'll link a few lists that are easier to use.
Is the canon/filler episodes ones i should watch?
I’ve been trying to get back on Naruto after many years but this time WITHOUT the fillers. I’m currently on “Assassin of the Moonlit Night,” (ep. 76) with Gaara’s backstory . Thank you!
Have a look at Naruto Kai. Haven't seen it myself but it's supposed to be good, and fits what you're looking for.
Naruto Part 1 (Manga Canon Only)
Land of Waves (ep. 1 – 19)
Chunin Exams (ep. 20 – 25, 27 – 67)
Konoha Crush (ep. 68 – 80)
Search for Tsunade (ep. 81 – 100)
Sasuke Recovery Mission (ep. 107 – 135)
You can continue Shippuden after ep. 135 of OG Naruto or you can skip to minute 12:00 on ep. 220 where Naruto will be under Jiraiya's guidance for 3 years after ep. 135
Episode 26 and 101 is fillers
Fact: You only got the right to skip filler after watching every single episode once first.
I've watched all the episodes before and it feels mighty boring to rewatch the fillers
There are some fillers that are awesome though. But for Naruto, it's just a handful. Haha.
Yes i watched all i will watch again without fillers
I've really enjoyed a lot of the fillers!
But the fillers are not part of the storyline...
There’s enough canon on its own. If you are finding you like it enough to watch all of it, then you can start thinking about fillers too
If it’s your first watch, you should watch the fillers. It’s long and annoying sometimes, but some fillers are great.
A lot of the people who complain about certain characters not getting enough screen time are some of the same who skip fillers. Regardless of whether it’s canon or not.

fillers are great. my fav is the one in og when they're trying to figure out what's under kakashis mask
I low-key kinda have a "haha lil bastard" reaction to the boat arc... I forget but I remember thinking, "fuck man a war is happening or about to, and this hella long ass boat filler arc been going on so long it's starting to get hysterically funny. Coupled with at that time the eng dub was still being released, so a few episodes then months for the next few...
That and the cat arc with Sasuke were low-key such a different vibe it felt unique. Also the one with Lee and Gaara fking up the fake tails if that was filler...
Even the 2nd one is fun. There are 2 episodes.
Nah, they break the pacing of the story. It comes to a point when something big is going to happen, and a single line starts a filler saga of an unrelated past event for over +10 episodes, then they go back canon for 2 episodes, and then another +10 episodes filler saga of flashbacks starts. All of these in the middle of what is supposed to be a single fight.
Just watch Naruto episode 101, it's so funny.
Alright, well. My friend talked me into watching this Anime and Ive been convinced but I know that it has gained certain reputation due to its fillers, then, I found a lot of guides where you watch it skipping these episodes and almost all of them coincide. Now would you reccomend me watching the fillers any way or it isnt worth it?
Ive read on these guides that fillere in there take away some good escence from the series and makes it confusing and spoils yo some stuff.
i started off watching all the filler, but at the end there’s like 77 straight filler episodes and after like 40 of them i had to give up.
How to watch Naruto without the filler episodes
Here are some key considerations for watching Naruto without filler episodes:
Understand the Filler Content: The original Naruto series has a significant amount of filler episodes, especially in the first part. The filler episodes do not contribute to the main storyline.
Use Filler Guides: There are several online guides that list which episodes are filler. Websites like Anime Filler List provide comprehensive episode guides for both Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden.
Watch the Main Story Arcs: Focus on the episodes that are part of the main story arcs. For Naruto, the essential episodes are primarily from the manga source material.
Consider Watching Only Naruto: Shippuden: If you want to skip most of the filler, you might consider starting directly with Naruto: Shippuden, which has fewer filler episodes compared to the original series.

Naruto: Shippuden:
Recommendation: Use a filler episode guide to streamline your viewing experience. This way, you can enjoy the core story without the distractions of filler content. If you're looking for a more concise experience, consider watching the "Naruto: The Last" movie after finishing Shippuden for a satisfying conclusion.
