Kultura at SM Malls
Kultura is a popular choice for buying Filipino souvenirs and can be found in SM malls across the country. It offers a wide range of items, from traditional crafts like kalesa and jeepney replicas to clothing and accessories [1:1]
[2:1]. While prices may be on the higher side, the quality is often praised by shoppers
[2:4].
Local and Indie Stores
For those interested in local and indie shopping experiences, Frankie General Store and the Filipino wing at Greenbelt 5 are recommended. These places offer a variety of local brands and artisanal products, surrounded by good food choices [4:1]. Additionally, Cubao Expo and Escolta are known for their artsy and independent vibe, offering unique finds
[4:4]
[4:5].
Traditional Markets and Tiangge
Visiting traditional markets or tiangge can provide an authentic shopping experience. Baclaran and Taytay tiangge are mentioned as places where you can find clothes and other items at reasonable prices, though caution is advised due to crowded conditions [3:4]
[4:3]. Quiapo is another option, but it's important to be vigilant with personal belongings
[5:2].
Specialty Shops and Handicrafts
Balikbayan Handicrafts is noted for offering discounts on various items, making it a good spot for purchasing souvenirs [5:1]. Dapitan Arcade is also suggested for home decor and other unique pieces, although its location may not be convenient for everyone
[5:4].
Online Shopping
For convenience, Shopee is a platform where many local manufacturers sell their products. This can be a great way to explore and purchase Philippine-made souvenirs without having to visit physical stores [5:3].
These options provide a diverse range of places to shop for souvenirs in the Philippines, catering to different tastes and preferences. Whether you're looking for traditional crafts, local delicacies, or contemporary artisanal goods, there's something for everyone.
Staying in Makati for few days but can’t seem to see much souvenir shops around. What’s some places to shop for souvenirs for tourists ? (Philippines related t shirts, keychains, etc.)
Kultura
Go to any SM (mall) and look for “Kultura” 🙂 For artsy hand crafted things, you can also check @commonroomph (they have branches in different malls)
Hello everyone :) I'll be revisiting the Philippines on a trip with my family and I'd like to take home some Filipino Souvenirs for my friends. However, I'm not that familiar with Filipino culture and I'm quite stumped on what to buy. Any suggestions?
For reference, I'm 19f and I was born in the Philippines but raised in NZ, with kiwi and Filipino friends. I'm looking for something that is hard to find anywhere else. Your help will be greatly appreciated :D 🙏
If your friends are fellow Filipinos, local delicacies would always be welcome. For the Kiwis, maybe some knickknacks and keychains featuring PH locations? Apologies, I based this off of my own souvenirs that I bought for my officemates. But if it's a close group of friends with mixed races, it'd be best to get them something similar - so no drama.
A malong would be nice. If you're into knives, get a balisong if NZ allows it. Get carvings from the cordillera region. You can find lots of those in Market Market and in Tiendesitas
I would recommend Kultura which is available in SM just to warn you that things are a little bit expensive. I like their kalesa and jeepney replicas. The good thing is they have a lot of items and of course the convenience especially if you are staying here in Metro Manila.
Second this. They’re expensive but quality is way above most things I’ve bought in the Philippines.
Pero mahal talaga..lol cute din yung mga alak nila na nakalagay sa super liit na bote.. yung dried mangoes nila ang layo ng presyo sa labas..
The giant wooden penises that double as an ashtray in Baguio are hard to find.
This with the barrelman couple
Get a bunch of those barrel men. Gave one to one of my friends in LA and he loooved it.
Hey there fellow Filipinos and Filipinas! My family is finally planning to visit Philippines after 6 years of last being there, which was basically when we left! Being a teenager, the first thing that came to mind was where to go shopping (of course). So I’m looking for any advice, any tips or any thing that I should know about where to buy clothes. I have done some research and know a couple stores already but I need some more personal from you guys!
While we’re on the subject of visiting, is there anything I should try or anywhere to visit before I go back, keeping in mind that I’ll be visiting around Christmas and New Years?
Any input is appreciated, thanks guys!
Christmas season in the metro? Good luck with traffic.
Mapapagod ka kaka ikot ng mall sa shopping. Where specifically will you be staying?
My family and I will be staying at Cavite, close to Tagaytay from what my parents have told me :)
I'm from the area in Laguna real close to Tagaytay so I suggest for malling, go to Alabang Town Center, or go the other way and go to Manila at.....SM MOA? I kinda can't stand SM malls in general tho cuz of how crowded they are and the maintenance of the facilities are usually dismal. For a pleasant experience and to enjoy the ambience, I suggest an Ayala mall like Alabang Town Center (ATC), or the new Filinvest complex (which is super close to ATC anyway). Nuvali is super nice to go around but I find the shops to be limited, it's more of a place to enjoy the architecture/ambience.
In terms of shopping, idk what you wanna buy! Clothes, I'd say Oxygen is pretty good, it's a Filipino brand and the quality is aight, the designs are modern too. Other PH owned clothing stores just aren't as good as the internationals. I know Makati area has some pretty independent clothing shops with some unique finds. For souvenirs I second SM Kultura, or if you're much fancier Rustan's in ATC. DAISO is always a nice visit to find things you didn't know you needed. I think the US has DAISO? But I reckon the PH selection will be a bit wider.
For restaurants, I suggest Manam/Crisostomo's. They're on the upper scale of choices but their execution of Filipino food is really good. If you wanna consider budget more, a must-try is Mang Inasal (be warned, the crowds, the insufficient ventilation, the noise), it really is good. For a nice place near Tagaytay go to Kanin Club in Paseo, they do Filipino food too and people flock there, it's a local favourite (make sure to get Alamang rice to change your life). You can sample alot of Japanese places too cuz Filipino made Japanese food is quite faithful to the native stuff, if not a tad bit more savoury (tho avoid Tokyo Tokyo, it's subpar imo). If you're missing American food, Yellow Cab makes the best pizzas ever, better than ones I've had in the UK (though they're not known for their pizzas). Pastries and desserts are also quite good here. Red Ribbon makes some pretty good cakes for real cheap. Manila Creamery has some interesting ice cream flavours. Milk Tea places are mostly good (go for Gong Cha, or Coco if you're indulging).
Almost all the places I mentioned can be found in malls since that's the main shopping medium here.
- a Millenial
P.S. If you want more bespoke places, Poblacion Makati and BGC have some real fancy shit. Maginhawa and Kapitolyo on the other hand have the most interesting food choices but these are all places further north, I'd say 2-3 hours from Tagaytay.
Hmmm. Malls aren't big there but do try going to MOA for your shopping needs. Nuvali would also be a good place to shop.
If youre near tagaytay, do visit caleruega. Its a retreat center with a very nice chapel. A lot of people get married there. Also try hiking to mt Batulao or hiking to the taal crater.
Try Kultura in SM stores, also good for Philippine souvenirs
This one has been recommended quite a few times and sounds like something I really do need to visit! Thanks!
3 of the world's largest shopping malls are in the Philippines: SM Megamall in Mandaluyong, SM North Edsa in Quezon City and SM Mall of Asia in Pasay (this is the closest to Cavite). You can visit Baclaran which isn't too far away from Cavite for an authentic tianggean experience just be wary of theives. You can go to Ayala in Makati for Christmas light shows.
I'm from the metro so I can only recommend places here, sorry.
No need to be sorry! My cousins in the Philippines told me we could easily drive to those places, although it will just take a little longer haha!
Thanks for your input friend!
Aling Nena's Store. Mura na at sari sari pa ang itinitinda.
pero yung gusto niya di mabibili ng pera :(
In tagaytay i suggest ALMIRAS for sweets and buko pie and tarts.
For candies, pastillias from puregold named "LOYDI" this one is good just for 1usd for a whole packed this is the best pasalubong to your home country.
For clothes i suggest if you plan to go to tagaytay (palace in the sky or picnic grove) thier will be a lor of stalls the offer good quaility shirts and their price are regulated with local goverment. Also you can try inside the SM malls the "kultura".
Sounds quite interesting!
> buko pie
I remember having one of these back at the Philippines and will definitely be trying it out!
> this one is good just for 1usd for a whole packed
Sounds like a plan!
> palace in the sky or picnic grove
Those places look unique and interesting, will definitely ask my parents about that for sure!
Thanks for your input sir!
Hi! I'm a balikbayan visiting Metro Manila again after many years. Looking to go to areas with lots of shopping from local/independent/artsy apparel, homegoods, souvenirs etc (and hopefully eat some good food too). 😊 Thanks!
Filipiniana, SM department store is good enough.
Taytay tiangge for clothes and whatnots
Hmm not sure kung same padin yung vibe but try cubao expo near gateway
+1 sa Cubao Expo and also Escolta https://www.98-b.org/
I just visited Philippines and brought back some stuff like this!
Check out Frankie General Store (they have different branches) and the Filipino wing at Greenbelt 5 where you'll find different local brands, designers and makers concentrated in an area surrounded with good food choices. On weekends, check out BGC highstreet (specially that 5th Avenue area that gets turned into a market and closed to traffic). I found amazing bayongs and abaca items made by a local group in Quezon and local makers that sell home pieces and cute pots. Nearby is a hidden gem for me: inside Market Market mall, go up a couple levels to the triangge sections. I know they're known for the outdoor stalls but seriously, go inside instead. It's at least a couple floors of sellers that might look like Greenhills but without the fake designer bags. There you'll find real pearls, local handicrafts, massage stalls, native products, custom tailors and dressmaker. Sanry's money changer is in there as well (great reliable money changer with great rates). I love that place. Market Market also has those Euronet ATMs that I love because I can take cash out using my foreign debit card, I found them more reliabke than BPI and BDO ATMs. Try to go to the Makati weekend markets like Legazpi Sunday market and Salcedo Saturday Market for local finds and great food. These suggestions are in a safe ish area connected to loads of other shopping you can check out later. Also try going to Cubao X and Escolta for a different experience with surprising finds. Also a friend turned me to Joy in the Philippines. I really like the locally made "The OG" oil in a roller dispenser, you have to order online though. It's a good souvenir, everyone I've given it to loves it, it comes a little fabric bag. If all else fails, go to Kultura in SM malls but save it as a last resort, you'll definitely find stuff here but yeah, it's SM.
Yehey thank you for such a detailed response!!
Just want something to remind me of home hehehe.
Meron po ba mga store where I can buy some PH-made souvenirs? Looking for one in Pasay and Bacolod area. I’ve heard of Kultura at SM and Negros Showroom! I’m looking for pamaypays, home decor, clothing, jewelry, bags, etc.
Quiapo. Yung mga nasa ilalim ng tulay or sa tawid. Doble ingat lang sa bag, wallet and other valuables. Nakuha cp ni mama sa bag dati while nag iikot ikot.
Try Shopee and search for the terms. There are a lot of local manufacturers selling there already.
Hndi ko lang sure pero napapanood ko sa tiktoks ung Dapitan Arcade
My bad, di pala to sa pasay area. 🥲😂
Balikbayan Handicrafts. 50% off on most items rn :)
Hello! First post in this sub, hopefully one of many. I've traveled to the Philippines a few times and have ventured into a few comic book shops. I've seen some pretty rad action figures and was wondering do they get some there that we may not have access to in America. I want to start collecting and possibly selling and those are the ones I want to go for. Tbh I dont even know where to start as far as identifying sought-after hard to get action figures. Any help would be appreciated.

Check out Shoppesville at Greenhills Shopping Center. They pretty much have everything (statues, action figures, comic books, etc.). You can also check out Filbar's as well. There's multiple locations throughout Manila. They have comic books, action figures (mostly Mc Farlane, Marvel Legends, and Hot Toys) and lots of Funko pop.
Saan po maganda bumili ng pasalubong and souvenirs sa Puerto?
The “pasalubong center” north highway near the airport. Huge gift selection and best prices in town. Can be found on google maps. We take all our family visitors there.

Here
Tapos kung gusto mo naman ng mura ng mga dried fish products, sa Old Public Market naman
Baker's Hill for bread and pastries. Lalo na ang famous hopia.
If you are looking for dried fish, cashew nuts, and other food products, go to the Old Market in Puerto Princesa City. It's much cheaper than going to a souvenir shop.
Hi folks!
I am traveling to Manila for 3-4 days during a longer trip in October and am looking for recommendations for local shopping. I want to support Filipino creators and am not interested in international brands or products.
I buy:
I'm interested in anything made by an artisan of their craft regardless of its category (e.g.: home goods, ingredients, tools, really anything). I don't buy trinkets or things considered 'souvenirs'.
For the clothes though, I am a size 10 in American women's sizes so I'm unclear if I'm too big for most shops. I suspect I don't have enough time for anything custom-made.
If you know of a shop, a person, a place or an IG handle I could check out to create a shopping list -- that would be wonderful and deeply appreciated!
Try Frankie General Store, they house various independent homegrown local artisans. They have handwoven bags and clothings, jewelries/accessories, local coffee blends, chocolates.
https://frankiegeneralstore.com/ Branches: inside the malls - SM Aura, Mitsukoshi, Podium
Although, I personally find KULTURA’s offerings a bit on the spendy side. They are also conveniently located inside SM malls so you might want to check them out as well if ever you’re in the area.
Handbags Aranaz & Zarah Juan
Balikbayan handicrafts in Makati and beside it is Tesoro's. Both offer various Filipino products.
Hello po! I’ll be visiting Davao for work soon. Do you have any recos on any souvenirs or pasalubong I can buy for my fam back home? Thank youu
Dry goods (clothing, malong, etc) at Poblacion Market Central, Bangoy St.
Durian candy, Mangosteen candy, pomelo, etc at Apo ni Lola, San Miguel Village Matina
Pomelo & mangosteen at Bankerohan Market
Malapit lang ba to sa Waterfront Insular Hotel? How do I get to these places from here?
Malayo po. Grab car or taxi. Skip the Matina & Bankerohan. Go directly to Poblacion Market for the dry goods, there are also pomelo vendors outside. Pomelos are also available in Mamay Road, going to the airport. Try the Apo ni Lola Waterfront branch if it's still there. They have another one at Abreeza Mall.
Check out poblacion market they have a lot of goodies there
Might try to visit there!! Thanks for the suggestions!
Durian candy, durian jam, anything gawa sa durian.😂
I really liked durian pastillas that I tried years ago, I wonder if it was from Davao too. Haha thanks sa suggestions!
Np op! :)
pomelo po, the best ang pomelo sa davao plus it is x2 or 3 way cheaper compared to visayas ang luzon
I was gonna ask if anyone knows a souvenir shop that sells post cards? :)
Soo, drop down nalang din ng suggestions!
