Local Snacks and Delicacies
Filipino snacks and delicacies are a popular choice for souvenirs. Items such as dried mangoes, polvoron, and local candies like chocnut, hawhaw, and mickmick are frequently recommended [1:2]
[4:5]. These items are not only delicious but also unique to the Philippines, making them ideal gifts for friends abroad. Additionally, Filipino chips like Piattos, Nova, and Chippy can be found in local groceries and make for great snack souvenirs
[1:2].
Coffee and Chocolate
Kapeng Barako from Batangas is a well-loved coffee option that makes for a thoughtful gift [5:1]. Local chocolates from brands such as Auro, Malagos, and Theo and Philo are also highly recommended
[4:2]. Tablea, a type of pure chocolate used for making hot cocoa, is another traditional item to consider
[4:1].
Savory Treats
For those interested in savory options, various types of longganisa (Filipino sausage), bagnet (crispy pork belly), and tapa (cured beef) are available cooked and vacuum-sealed [4:1]. Tinapa flakes in olive oil or chili paste from Bicol are flavorful choices that can be used in cooking or as condiments
[4:4].
Unique Regional Specialties
Regional specialties offer a taste of the diverse culinary landscape of the Philippines. Ilocos Chicacorn, a crunchy corn snack, is a favorite from the northern region [4:3]. Other regional dishes like Sinigang, Munggo, Bicol Express, and Laing provide a more authentic experience of Filipino cuisine
[3:1]
[3:3].
Shopping Tips
Kultura, a store found in SM malls, offers a wide range of Filipino products including food items, though they can be on the pricier side [2:3]
[4:9]. For more affordable options, visiting local markets or grocery stores can yield a variety of traditional foods at better prices

Me and my family will be going on a vacation this year and I was wondering kung ano pa kaya ang pwede kong bilhin for friends as souvenir kasi nahihiya nako magbigay ng fridge magnets or keychains na may “I❤️(country)” baka meron kayong suggestion na ibang pwedeng bilhin hehe.
That country’s popular snacks from a local grocery. Usually you can buy them cheap:
So for example, if a foreigner would visit, they can buy
mickmick, hawhaw, chocnut, curly tops
nova, chippy, clover, piattos
lucky me instant noodles
tableas, barako grind
Food na specialty dun sa pupuntahan nyo
+1 sa grocery ka maghanap
Third this. Anything na flat and magaaan. I don't like to give shirts or ung mga "I ❤️..." , medjo all made in China.
When we went to SoKor, yung mga libreng facial masks yung inuwi ko sa mga friends ko 🤣🤣
Coffee or tea! Yung.medyo unique flavors
Tshirts. Easy to pack, sure magagamit (unless masikip so buy larger). Personally we bring back food na unique to the place/country
Hello everyone :) I'll be revisiting the Philippines on a trip with my family and I'd like to take home some Filipino Souvenirs for my friends. However, I'm not that familiar with Filipino culture and I'm quite stumped on what to buy. Any suggestions?
For reference, I'm 19f and I was born in the Philippines but raised in NZ, with kiwi and Filipino friends. I'm looking for something that is hard to find anywhere else. Your help will be greatly appreciated :D 🙏
A malong would be nice. If you're into knives, get a balisong if NZ allows it. Get carvings from the cordillera region. You can find lots of those in Market Market and in Tiendesitas
I would recommend Kultura which is available in SM just to warn you that things are a little bit expensive. I like their kalesa and jeepney replicas. The good thing is they have a lot of items and of course the convenience especially if you are staying here in Metro Manila.
Second this. They’re expensive but quality is way above most things I’ve bought in the Philippines.
The giant wooden penises that double as an ashtray in Baguio are hard to find.
This with the barrelman couple
Get a bunch of those barrel men. Gave one to one of my friends in LA and he loooved it.
If your friends are fellow Filipinos, local delicacies would always be welcome. For the Kiwis, maybe some knickknacks and keychains featuring PH locations? Apologies, I based this off of my own souvenirs that I bought for my officemates. But if it's a close group of friends with mixed races, it'd be best to get them something similar - so no drama.
I love food and I have heard goodies about the food there but have only heard a few ones. One that really drawing me in is Lechon.
Where in the Philippines would you be visiting? Speciality regional cuisine can vary from place to place.
Bicol Express, lechon kawali, laing
That sounds like an interesting combo Will definitely check it out
How did your visit go? What brings you to the Philippines ? :)
If you don't mind me asking, where in Africa are you from?
I am Nigerian
Okay cool. Umm I've been to Lagos before and had many different flavors from the main dishes (egusi soup and moi moi) so I don't think you'll have any trouble adapting to the radical flavors of Filipino food.
I suggest trying Sinigang, Munggo & Ginataang Bilo Bilo for dessert.
Any recommendation na pang gift sa foreign friend? Natry na niya dried mangoes and polvoron? Yung pwede sa checkin baggage din
Something sweet: Tablea, local chocolates from Auro, Malagos, Theo and Philo, etc., Piaya, Banana chips Something savory: Tinapang bangus (from Rosario, Cavite), Dried tuyo or Tinapa flakes in olive oil (jars from grocery), Baliwag chicharon
You can always check Kultura, any grocery, nearby palengke hehe
Thanks! I'll check sa kultura.
Ilocos Chicacorn
Kung pwede yung Tinapa Flakes in Olive Oil, pwede siguro yung Chili oil?
Winner yan!
Mga colleagues ko na Chinese and Singaporeans love Goldilocks Polovoron - safe choice kasi una maganda packaging as is, 2nd is halal (for my Muslim friends) and lastly, nasasarapan sila lalo na sa yellow.
Hehe 🤭
Cacao nibs with coco sugar is so good! Lalo na kung mahilig sa dark chocolate.
Mango jam, ube jam or fudgee bar
Kultura is my go to. Daming options
Hello everyone. I’d just like to ask suggestions ano po yung magandang pwede ipasalubong for my foreign in laws? I’m moving to Europe soon and gusto ko sana magbigay ng Pinoy products to them aside from the usual Pinoy food pasalubong. TIA!
A safe bet could be wooden kitchenware or house decor. My mom would take a quick trip to SM department Kultura section to find souvenirs for friends she'd visit overseas.
As a Batangueña, Kapeng Barako from Batangas would be nice. 🙂 I brought this to my future Canadian in laws and they loved it.
Also found this, i think it’s cute banana fiber bag
I’ve never been back in PH for a long time, but we usually buy pearl jewellery from Greenhills
Pearl jewellery for the mum.
Ohhh yeah. This would be nice.
Hi! We'll be visiting Luzon and I'm planning to give this as a pasalubong, I don't drink coffee so I am not sure with the quality of their products. Can anybody give me feedback?
*I was opting for Vjandep pero I want to give something nga dili dali madaot.
where’d you buy? :)
Monks Blend is okay. Just make sure what type because they have whole beans and ground beans. If whole the recepient should have at least a grinder at home or in the office. My only grip with Monks Blend there is not option or choice for different type of roast.
thank you, this is helpful.
It's cheaper when you buy from gaisano mall grocery
will check, thank you!
when we still brewed our coffee this was our fave
thank you!
Kani..
Been using this since Pandemic ( 2020 )
Makapabuhi jud ni sa akong bilar2x ug lami sad siya at the same time makatabang sad ta sa livelihood sa Malaybalay, without comprising the quality.
Sulit kaayo ni..
thank you 😊
Maupay nga aga everyone! BADLY NEED YOUR HELP HUHU! I've been in Leyte for almost 9 months, and next month, I'll finally be heading back to Taguig. I want to bring some sulit pasalubong for my family and friends! So far, I only have moron on my list, but I’d love to bring more—whether it’s food or unique local items.
Any must-buy recommendations? Also, if you know where I can get them, that would be super helpful! THANK YOUUUU DAAN!
Hopia de Pili from Charitos is always a hit pag ginpapasalubong ko
How much po kaya?
Meron silang store sa Rob Marasbaras near the Supermarket
Ay di ko sure. Around 200-300 ata isang pack of 6
(2)
Pastillas from Carigaraaaaa!
Saan po mabili and how much kaya?
Sa Carigara po nakakabili niyan, Lumen's Pastillas and Delicacies or doon sa Barangay Canal, Carigara, Leyte nagbebenta sila ng pastillas from PURE cow's milk kaya mas masarap.
Corioso, rosquillos, pastillas from Carigara
Binagol??
Food stuff: Binagol, Pastillas (Carigara, carabao milk version), Pili tarts, Kalamay (the one you can use as ingredients, not the bohol version), Bulad (especially varieties that are not common in Manila; make sure to wrap them well and store as checked in baggage); bottled tuba (but not sure how it can pass through airport security)
Non-food: Banig related items
Where to buy: Downtown zamora street, near Jollibee; Robinsons north, near grocery (at a marked up price); Mercado, facing the bay side area before the meat section building; whole block surrounding gaisano
I lived in the PH then left 10 year ago and am going back for the first time to visit. I’m visiting friends and community members in semi-rural Zambales and rural Negros.
Any recommendations for pasalubong/gifts to bring from the US? Something that won’t weigh my luggage down/take up too much space as I’m traveling around SEA for 2+ weeks. Chocolate?
Real Cheese was a big hit when I first traveled here.
Which cheese did you bring? Is it allowed from TSA?
Mostly Brie cheese from Wisconsin. Two fancy cheese sampler trays. In hindsight I should have brought more. I just threw them in my check bags. I had no issues with TSA or Philippine customs.
TSA doesn’t care what cheese you put in your checked luggage
Filipinos love cold hard cash in US $$$, give 'em $100 each and they'll ask for more! 💸🤑
Don't bring anything. Just go buy Hershey chocolate from the local 7-Eleven or grocery store after arriving, and tell them it's from the US. The response will be the same... trust me!
This is true although when I did this I ended up spending more. I was coming from the UK and wanting to bring things British for my extended cousins in the Philippines. I researched and saw that they had Marks and Spencers in BGC. Joke was on me as things cost 2-3 x more than what they would in the UK! 🤣
Sounds like a scummy thing to do.
Just huge bags of assorted chocolates from Costco
Can't go wrong with chocolate.
T shirts, caps and US souvenirs. Chocolate is cheaper in the US so I'm told. Candy for the kids. Spam. Toiletries from the US such as Dove soap. Yes many things available in PH but more expensive, and many cannot afford, so they make nice gifts
Hi! We'll be visiting Luzon and I'm planning to give this as a pasalubong, I don't drink coffee so I am not sure with the quality of their products. Can anybody give me feedback?
Yan din hinihingi kong pasalubong tapos yung pastel at yung BKDN Dark Chocolate 70% at yung may choco nibs
thank you!
>thank you!
You're welcome!
Go for beans and check the time of roasting. This is a decent coffee from bukidnon.
hi guys, i know this has been asked a hundred times bc I did check, but this is a teensy bit specific. do you have any non-perishable (so no cakes, inasal, napoleones 💔) or at least ang indi maglain from 5-ish days of purchase na pasalubong recos aside from shirts, magnets, and keychains? If amo man gid na sa 3, where to get good quality kag unique merch?
i'll be meeting colleagues in luzon next month, kaso will be arriving a week prior para mag gala by myself. I was thinking native/kanlaon coffee, v&w na snacks jar (?), usual bong bongs/merczi/virgies? Anything to add?
Also additional Q: ano gid ang pinaka namit na biscocho, barquiron, polvoron, and butterscotch? daw palarehas lang sila bi sakon, so need outsiders' opinion 🤪
TYIA
barquillos sa sugarlandia
+1! The best ila barquillos and piaya pero favorite ko gid ang pinasugbo
Truee! Not a fan of barquillos but sugarlandia’s is an exception!!
Bailon piaya. Lain nga klase sang piaya nga nasanayan from Bongbong's.
Where to buy?
Try the carinderia at their old location or their fb page https://m.facebook.com/crispy.piayita/
