Kultura and Local Crafts
Kultura, a store found in SM malls, offers a wide range of Filipino-themed souvenirs. While some items may be on the pricier side, they are known for their quality. Popular items include replicas of traditional Filipino transportation like kalesas and jeepneys [1:1]. Additionally, local crafts such as malongs (traditional tube skirts) and carvings from the Cordillera region are highly recommended for their cultural significance and uniqueness
[1:3].
Food and Delicacies
Local delicacies make excellent souvenirs, especially for fellow Filipinos or those interested in trying authentic Filipino flavors. Dried mangoes are a popular choice due to their distinct taste and affordability compared to international prices [1:6]. Other food-related souvenirs include miniature bottles of local spirits, which can serve as both a unique gift and a taste of Filipino culture
[1:6].
Quirky and Humorous Items
For a more humorous take on souvenirs, consider the "barrel man," a wooden figure that reveals an amusing surprise when lifted. This item is often mentioned as a fun and memorable gift [1:7]. Another quirky option is the giant wooden penises that double as ashtrays, commonly found in Baguio
[1:4].
Artistic and Handmade Souvenirs
Handmade and artistic souvenirs offer a personal touch and are often more meaningful. For example, Bacolod magnets featuring local dishes like chicken inasal and cansi have been well-received by tourists and locals alike [3:3]. These items not only represent the destination but also showcase the creativity of local artisans.
Souvenir Shops and Locations
For those visiting Bacolod, Bongbong's and the Negros Showroom are popular spots to buy shirts and refrigerator magnets [4:1]
[4:2]. In Metro Manila, Kultura at SM stores and various local markets provide a wide selection of souvenirs. It's advisable to check the designs for authenticity, as some might feature generic or AI-generated patterns
[4:3].
Hello everyone :) I'll be revisiting the Philippines on a trip with my family and I'd like to take home some Filipino Souvenirs for my friends. However, I'm not that familiar with Filipino culture and I'm quite stumped on what to buy. Any suggestions?
For reference, I'm 19f and I was born in the Philippines but raised in NZ, with kiwi and Filipino friends. I'm looking for something that is hard to find anywhere else. Your help will be greatly appreciated :D 🙏
If your friends are fellow Filipinos, local delicacies would always be welcome. For the Kiwis, maybe some knickknacks and keychains featuring PH locations? Apologies, I based this off of my own souvenirs that I bought for my officemates. But if it's a close group of friends with mixed races, it'd be best to get them something similar - so no drama.
A malong would be nice. If you're into knives, get a balisong if NZ allows it. Get carvings from the cordillera region. You can find lots of those in Market Market and in Tiendesitas
The giant wooden penises that double as an ashtray in Baguio are hard to find.
This with the barrelman couple
I would recommend Kultura which is available in SM just to warn you that things are a little bit expensive. I like their kalesa and jeepney replicas. The good thing is they have a lot of items and of course the convenience especially if you are staying here in Metro Manila.
Second this. They’re expensive but quality is way above most things I’ve bought in the Philippines.
Pero mahal talaga..lol cute din yung mga alak nila na nakalagay sa super liit na bote.. yung dried mangoes nila ang layo ng presyo sa labas..
Get a bunch of those barrel men. Gave one to one of my friends in LA and he loooved it.
So I’m planning to buy gifts for a friend. He’s Filipino but currently residing abroad and magbabakasyon sila sa August. Balak ko siya bilhan ng souvenir before going back abroad. May alam po ba kayong local shop and gift ideas?
i already bought 1 hat from Legazy PH. Unfortunately, sobrang limited ng available stocks nila sa shirt maganda pa naman.
May alam po ba kayong shop like Legazy? Thanks!
OP may Specific design ka ba na hinahanp?
Nothing in particular but something i can gift for a guy
OP please check Vcamo store At Facebook I personally designed the Shirt hope you like It :)
So far yung best at most artistic ref magnets ay sa Batanes! Super ganda lahat na more than 1 yung nabili namin.
I feel the same way!
Share ko lang—I painted these chicken inasal and cansi, and made them into Bacolod magnets! A lot of tourists buy them (even locals). In fact, it was a tourist who bought the original painting. ❤️
i love these kasi nakikita mo talaga sya sa bacolod.
It makes me wonder. If Akma ba yung wooden souvenirs na galing sa bagyo/benguet area?
Especially yung nga bottle openers. ;)
baka daks mga taga doon hahah
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA PAMBANSANG SOUVENIR YAN!!! KAHIT SAAN MAY NALILIGAW NA TITE!!
I have seen wind-up dancing penises sold on the streets in Pattaya
Yan yung tinatanong ko if akma.
Hahahah.
Agree! Kaya as a ref magnet collector, I make sure na kapag bibili ako, relevant yung design sa destination and may pangalan ng place.
Hi everyone. We just landed here at Bacolod and wondering where can we buy shirts and ref magnets? TIA.
SM Store (Kultura) and Negros Showroom OP!

Hello! First post in this sub, hopefully one of many. I've traveled to the Philippines a few times and have ventured into a few comic book shops. I've seen some pretty rad action figures and was wondering do they get some there that we may not have access to in America. I want to start collecting and possibly selling and those are the ones I want to go for. Tbh I dont even know where to start as far as identifying sought-after hard to get action figures. Any help would be appreciated.

Check out Shoppesville at Greenhills Shopping Center. They pretty much have everything (statues, action figures, comic books, etc.). You can also check out Filbar's as well. There's multiple locations throughout Manila. They have comic books, action figures (mostly Mc Farlane, Marvel Legends, and Hot Toys) and lots of Funko pop.
Good evening po, we'll be travelling to Bacolod soon and just want to inquire if saan po ang mga bilihan ng Bacolod shirts and ref magnets for pasalubong? Thank you po!
Might not be your typical Bacolod pasalubong but check out werever at art district. I bought a couple of inasal magnets and cute shirts made by artists from Bacolod/Negros for my friends in Manila. https://www.facebook.com/share/1AzXxbUrds/
Bong bong’s Pasalubong along Lacson St, across L’Fisher Hotel.
Thank you po.
bong bongs def has Bacolod Shirts, you could also check out Negros Museum's souvenir shop
Thank you po.
Headed to the Philippine soon, looking to bring back some fun stuff for my family. Anything I should be on the lookout for?
The plushie keychain if they still have it! I heard that as a PH exclusive.
Jewelry and perfume. As a sentimental person, I like to carry memories of places I've been to. Lalo na sa perfume, the smell reminds me of what I felt during the trip.
iron-on patches from different souvenir shops abroad. Tapos nilalagay ko sa denim jacket ko pag napuno na tsaka ko ipapatahi to secure them
Nice, buti madali lang maghanap nito? But nice one kasi mas magaan to kesa sa magnets!
aside from ref magnet, the country’s money/currency
Hahaha same. Pero I prefer ref magnet na buong likod dumidikit. Ayoko nung dinikitan lang ng bilog na magnet.
same! i follow what a reel did. the creator wrote a good memory from the trip on the postcards so when they look back, they can read that entry! i try as much as possible to buy a postcard of a place i did visit,.
I’d like to do this on my next travel! But how do you do it? You just buy a postcard.. where? From others, I saw them mailing it to themselves..
Buy post card and stamps, then I ask san dinodrop, so far yung from chiang mai thailand lang hindi dumating hahaha
Most souvenir shops meron! For me, i specifically look for illustration of the city. Something cutesy.
Stamps! Meron akong dedicated stamp book para dito :)
Free lang siya sa train stations, airports, and other landmarks. I'm talking about eki stamps po ah not yung mail stamps.
I always send a postcard to my friend based in Malaysia everytime I travel. She does the same to me.
