TL;DR The Pontiac Torrent is the best-known SUV from Pontiac, offering a balance of comfort and utility.
Pontiac Torrent Overview
The Pontiac Torrent was produced between 2005 and 2009 and is considered the best SUV option from Pontiac. It offered a midsize crossover experience with a focus on practicality and comfort. The Torrent shared its platform with the Chevrolet Equinox, which provided it with a reliable build and decent performance for its time. It came equipped with a V6 engine and had options for front-wheel or all-wheel drive, making it versatile for different driving conditions.
Features and Performance
The Torrent was praised for its spacious interior and comfortable ride quality. It featured adjustable rear seats that could slide to increase cargo space or legroom, depending on the need. While not particularly sporty, the Torrent's handling was adequate for everyday driving, and its V6 engine provided enough power for most situations. It also included standard features like air conditioning, power windows, and CD player, with options for upgraded sound systems and leather upholstery.
Considerations for Purchase
Given its production period, any Pontiac Torrent available today would be a used vehicle. When considering purchasing a Torrent, it's important to check for common issues such as transmission problems or electrical faults, which can be prevalent in older models. It's advisable to look for one with a comprehensive service history and possibly have a mechanic inspect it before purchase.
Alternative Options
If you're looking for a similar SUV experience but with more modern features, you might consider other GM vehicles like the Chevrolet Equinox or GMC Terrain, which have continued to evolve and improve since the Torrent's discontinuation. These models offer updated technology, improved fuel efficiency, and enhanced safety features compared to the older Pontiac Torrent.

En propiedades, luego redondee y seleccione Aura y las ventanas del Explorador y elimine las transparencias.
In properties, then round and select Aura and Explorer windows and remove transparency.
Wallpaper?
I changed the fonts in Windows from Segoe UI to Lato, which are more modern, and the font configuration in Chrome and Vivaldi. I also installed all the fonts from macOS, Ubuntu, and the most commonly used Google fonts for compatibility with Western fonts.
Nord and Dracula are my favorite palettes, congratulations on that.
Oh… well that is a list of movies… yes it is. Have you ever thought about watching more movies?
Stop telling me that, I've seen a lot of movies, this is my opinion
Look you came on here and shared your list. If you’ve seen lots of movies, great. I just wish I could say the same about this list.
With that said, it’s your list. So if you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
Watch more movies.
wdym? I've seen A LOT movies, those r just my fav
Yeah unless you include some niche unreleased silent film from early 20th century France, these people aren’t going to respect your list😂
Babies first writing comprehension.
Which civil war? Captain America:Civil war? Or the movie from 2024?
mmm, if I wanted to list the MCU civil war I would have stated so
A list so white and tragic that Oscar Schindler's gonna save it.
I personally loved Haunted Tomb! 💙💛
"I am a vessel without hinges--lock or lid--yet within my walls, a golden treasure is hidden. What am I?"
I can't believe this isn't a more popular answer! I love this level.
Gotta be Crystal Islands
Agreed. Can't go wrong with bismuth trees. Also, I love pretty rocks.
Edit: I should clarify that I forgot these were about the original games, not the Reignited versions. My bad, y'all.
While I love it, the Bentley minigame ruins it a bit for me :/ (at least the reignited version)
Just becouse of it's style, it's really looks charming. Personally, i think i'm not like any of Midnight Mountain levels...
Even if I don’t find the level design to be as good as Desert Ruins, I love that you can get access to free-flight at the end of the level.
Desert Ruins: great variety of minigames, no jank, and a fun balance of environmental effects from the level enemies. Plus there are some shoutouts to other PS1 mascot franchises (Lara Croft and Crash Bandicoot)
It’s a tough choice between this and Dino mines for me. I think Desert Ruins is a bit better though. The secret key is satisfyingly hidden, and there are a few glides that require some thoughts and/or awareness of one’s surroundings.
It's gotta be the treasure chest! Right? 😄
I suppose Super Bonus Round may fill that position (I don’t believe that I’ve seen anybody mention that level here yet which is interesting)
Crystal Islands for me. Music, atmosphere, enemies, perfect to me.
However Midnight Mountain had a strong line up of levels in general. I love Haunted Tomb as well but Crystal Islands is my favorite of the five.
Hey Leasehackrs,
I’m looking to score a great lease this Labor Day and would appreciate your intel. With the EV tax credit ending soon, my options are wide open—EVs, hybrids, or gas SUVs—whatever delivers the most value.
Here’s what I’m after:
Any SUV (compact or midsize) that offers the best “bang for your buck”
Low DAS (drive-off amount) and attractive monthly payments
Mileage around 10k–12k/year
Reliable options preferred (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Hyundai, etc.), but I’m flexible if the deal is compelling
If you’ve seen noteworthy offers—especially from recent Labor Day promotions—drop the details: MSRP, selling price, MF, RV, incentives, your region, and any dealer tricks you used to get them.
Thanks in advance for any leads or inspiration!
Why would you care if it’s reliable. It’s a lease. If it breaks, demand a loaner.
Mazda CX-70 and 90 PHEVs Dodge Hornet / Alfa Romeo Tonale
What have you found CX-90 wise? Everyone in the Bay Area is asking 5-600 per month which seems insane given what’s been posted on here.
Different areas have different rebates. Earlier this month and last month, getting 8% off MSRP was possible but now with less inventory 7% is more likely. Base money factor and residual. They’re different for each trim. Sweet spot is 24mo with whatever mileage you need. $300-400 for the base preferred
Trust me, reliability counts when the battery stops working in the middle of the highway and the hybrid lights come on. Experience EV Lisa.
Audi has some great deals on their EVs this month.
Northeast Q6 PP Quattro $74.5k MSRP 10k in rebates (there a bunch more available but I didn’t qualify) 12.5% off msrp 54% RV 0.00032 MF 36/10 $600 month, with only first month down.
Mazda also has some great deals on their CX90s plug in.
I just contacted a bunch of dealers and they competed. There’s better deals posted on leasehacker but I’m happy with what I got.
Anyone come across any NJ EV deals?
Pretty much am also on the same boat so tagging this thread along with
Let me know if you find any ,currently thinking ionic 5 might be good
Just make sure stay away from Jeep the worst EV cars are From Jeep and Dodge. They can give those away. I seen deals for like 100 bucks a month. Low miles, but who cares it’s gonna be in the dealership most of the time I have seven months left on my lease and I cannot wait for it to finish already
“Best Sport Sport Utility Vehicle?”
SUVs have “sport” in the name to make them feel more sporty. But there is nothing sporty about SUVs, they’re just heavy with high centre of gravity.
I’ve driven some pretty sporty SUVs 🤷♂️some that even outperform cars that would traditionally be considered “sporty”
Sporty sporty Utility Vehicle (SSUV)
Maybe best Super SUV
Yea honeslty, having a v12 in a suv is just insane
There’s the Cullinan aswell
Don't forget the og LM002
I'm sorry Urus, team Purosangue here...
Not the Mazda CX-30?
r/whatcarshouldibuy is very upset right now
This and the DBX 707 are my favorites
I'm looking for a decently new mid-size SUV, and can't decide which to buy! They all seem like a really good deal!
If I were you, I'd go on Marketplace and look for an old Ford Aspire. You find these for anywhere between 400-600K. You'll need to stretch your budget a bit, but it's not like you're getting anything good these days for under $500k anyway.
I'm kinda liking the 260k Honda lolol
260k FOR A HONDA? Wowowow...
Please tell me that's not in US currency cause holy hell...
Inspect element final boss
Wow these prices are like snatching a Ferrari for the price of a Happy Meal! Great finds OP! LOL
What the hell??? This can’t be U.S currency…..
Alphabetical the Acadia is number one!!!
I feel sorry for Yukon owners who are rated number 25.
But seriously I love it.
I owned a 2012 and 2017. The 2012 had an electrical short somewhere in the radio that gave me years of trouble and it took some part time semi retired guy at the dealer to finally be there on one of the many many many visits it was in there to figure it out. Once they replaced the radio I never had a problem again (it would literally stop moving and not respond to the gas pedal or gear shifter or basically anything for several minutes, and then be absolutely fine).
My 2017 was a great vehicle and while I felt a bit cramped in the smaller size, I drove it for 7 years and had no major issues aside from the thermostat needing to be replaced at 80k miles. I loved that car and while my new vehicle is amazing, sometimes I think - should’ve kept the $0 payment! lol
The new ones look great but I am not a fan of the powertrain. I drove a Traverse rental recently and it actually isn’t terrible but it’s definitely a 4 cylinder. That said, I moved into a Sierra last year instead of going to the new Acadia.
Wait until yours breaks two months into owning it, and then it sits at the dealership for a month and counting....
Yep. We really liked the new Acadia and have a 21 Acadia now. We just finished shopping for a new car and the issues pushed us away, especially the brake issues. We are just beta testers for anything less than 2 years old.
Really like my 2023 AT4. I have owned it for 3 years with zero issues. It rides great and very comfortable.
Oh yeah? Hmmm 42 days in the shop after 1153 miles... Not to satisfying!
Think how much you saved on gas ⛽️
🖕
I like my 2013 Acadia Denali. About 165,000+ miles. Replaced the battery, Starter, Alternator, Temperature sensor and hose assemblies, Front Brakes and Struts, Evaporator value and Spark plugs (not all at once mind you) and I enjoy this vehicle. Just need to replace the driver side headlight assembly and fix the passenger side running light and I'll be golden. Might even replace the audio unit when I can find one that works for my car...
mine, because i can drive it whenever i want
3rd one hands down - GTO Judge!
Super duty tempest wagon!
Trans AM
And Super Duty 455
My preference is maybe 1973 SD
GTO Hands down IMO tho.
It is almost a joke among my family and friends how me and my husband only drive Buicks. Right now my husband drives a 2006 Lacrosse CXS turbo and he will drive that car until his last breath, he loves that car so much. Right now I’m driving an Envision and I’m ready to get something different. But I say that every time I’m looking for a new car, and always seem to come home with a Buick. I’m always drawn to Buick because I think they generally have nice styling, are reliable, and they seem to balance of luxury and affordability. And I’m never worried about anyone stealing a Buick! I’d like to get another midsize SUV, does not need to be brand new but something new-ish (2023+). Looking for something that is under $30k and I can still get in a nice upgraded, trim level (leather seats, sunroof, good audio, etc.). Do any other brands offer that? Or am I stuck with another Buick?
Truthfully if you like styling of buick I would look at Lincoln and the Nautilus or the Corsair. I loved the corsair if I wasn't getting a truck at the time .
Stay with Buick. If you need a change get a GMC or Chevy. You won’t like the feel of a foreign car since you’re so used to Buick. I am currently considering a Buick. I think they have done a nice job of modernizing them, even the emblems. Good luck.
Yes. Buick is the pinnacle of luxury. Foreign cars will feel like crap after having a GM. I mean, Buick.
Stick with Buick. Someday they won’t be as available as they are now. Find a good used one if you can.
The Lincoln Nautilus and Lexus RX are the natural competition here.
Stick with Buick, I think your price point might make it harder to get a Cadillac XT5 which kinda fits the midsize segment you’re looking for.
Apparently the XT4 shares the same platform as the Envision but I view them as more compact vs midsize. But could be found at your price target.
best pontiac SUV
Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Pontiac SUV:
Model Availability: Pontiac is no longer in production, so you'll be looking at used models. The most notable Pontiac SUVs are the Pontiac Torrent and the Pontiac Aztek.
Performance: Consider the engine options and performance ratings. The Pontiac Torrent typically comes with a V6 engine, providing decent power for daily driving.
Interior Space and Comfort: Evaluate the interior space, cargo capacity, and comfort features. The Aztek is known for its unique design and versatile cargo space, while the Torrent offers a more traditional SUV layout.
Reliability and Maintenance: Research the reliability ratings and common issues for each model. The Torrent generally has better reliability ratings compared to the Aztek.
Fuel Efficiency: Look at the fuel economy ratings, especially if you plan to use the SUV for daily commuting. The Torrent offers better fuel efficiency compared to the Aztek.
Recommendation: If you're looking for a Pontiac SUV, the Pontiac Torrent is often considered the better option due to its more conventional design, better reliability, and overall performance. However, if you need unique cargo solutions and don’t mind a quirky design, the Pontiac Aztek could be a fun choice. Just ensure to have a trusted mechanic inspect any used vehicle before purchasing.
