Best PUBG Strategies

TL;DR

  • Stay mobile and avoid buildings late game.
  • Use the edge of the circle strategically.
  • Practice gunplay in training grounds and solo matches.

Mobility and Positioning

Staying mobile is crucial in PUBG, especially in the late game. Players recommend avoiding buildings and maintaining an aggressive stance to keep opponents on their toes [1:1]. Utilizing the edge of the circle allows you to clear areas as you move and provides a strategic advantage by minimizing threats from behind [1:2]. This approach can help control engagements and maintain a tactical advantage.

Training and Skill Development

Improving your shooting skills and looting efficiency are essential for success in PUBG. Training Grounds offer a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with different guns and attachments, which can enhance your combat effectiveness [1:3]. Playing solo matches helps refine gunplay, while solo squad matches improve rotation, movement, and engagement choices [4:2].

Strategic Engagements

Engaging wisely is key to survival and victory. Shooting more often, even when the shot isn't perfect, can desensitize you to the sound and improve gun control [5:2]. When using a sniper, it's important to keep your head moving to avoid getting picked off [5:3]. Additionally, having plenty of smokes and grenades for the final circle can provide a tactical edge [3:5].

Circle Management

Managing your position relative to the circle is another critical strategy. Moving towards the center as the blue zone closes in ensures that you're not caught off guard by players coming from behind [2:7]. This approach also helps maintain awareness of potential threats and reduces the likelihood of being ambushed.

Mindset and Adaptability

Maintaining a relaxed mindset and adapting to the situation can significantly impact performance. Some players find they perform better when slightly tipsy or high, as it reduces hesitation and increases boldness [5:6][5:10]. However, this varies greatly among individuals and should be approached with caution. The key is to remain adaptable and open to learning from each match.

Stay on the edge of the circle and move around it, clearing as you go, hold areas with good topography, keep out of buildings late game, only shoot if you can kill them outright, remember suppressed weapons can still be heard 200 metres away.

Step One: Training Grounds. Get good at shooting with different guns and attachments, work on your looting (especially tab looting). Learn when to tab loot and when to action grab things. Also, get in the habit of clicking when looting death crates. There's no animation so it's quicker, but drags you down when looting.

Step Two: Be aware. I play solos and the first thing I do is mark the plane path with the marker on the map. It's become habit, and helps me remember the plane path. When landing in a town, look around and know, at the very least, a rough count of how many people are landing with you. Passively pay attention to the kill feed and try and match any kills with shots you can hear.

Step Three: Get to zone early in the early game. Getting near center zone early game let's you be in control. People will be coming to you. You won't stumble over people and can make smaller/no dangerous rotations when there's a ton of people left.

Step Four: Late game, work the outer edges of the zone, pushing for the near side (side of circle closest to the blue). People generally won't be hanging out in the blue past zone three, so you can have a wall against one side. Most people wrap this way, so stay alert ahead and behind and move with cover between you and the middle.

Step Five: Be AWARE. If there are ten players left, you need to have an idea where as many are. As you get more experienced, you learn the way people generally will coming, but listen for shots. If it's a sniper, you have two people with some separation. If you hear a whizz, you're the second player.

General tips: Never not be moving, especially in the open. Looting a body? Don't care if you have a smoke out, be tapping that WASD circle and crouching as you look for what you need.

Don't be greedy. It's often better to push a fight with your first non-pistol and 1-lid than try and find full L2 gear and bag and M4 and K9. Make other players into loot delivery men.

If you go inside a building don't be afraid to stop (in a safe spot) and listen. I've been accused of cheating so many times because I heard the subtle shuffle sound when you turn or move and was able to surprise the camper by shooting at them as I pushed instead of being surprised.

Practice and repeat until things become second nature. Find places you like to land and go there regularly. You'll learn the common tactics people use there and can set up to counter them.

Don't. Drop. Hot. School and Pochinki and Hacienda and Castle and Bootcamp make great streamer vids for 5kd streamers chasing content. Unless you wanna be one of the kids the streamer mows down, drop elsewhere.

Drop drop cold, either. There's a reason nobody goes to those two room shacks in the asshole corner of the map. The loot is trash, it's covered by sniper lanes, it's too far from a secondary loot spot, etc. A nice mid-heat drop, like Yasnaya, or Sunken City, or any of the edge towns on Sanhok, same, plus San Martin for Miramar, make for good, generally fair engagements, with time to get a starting loot set up.

Always be aware and attentive of your surroundings. Cannot stress this enough.

The best strategy to play?

Posted by Training-Market-2065 · in r/PUBGMobile · 1 year ago

What's your best strategy? This can be a simple question but me and my friend got into this question after some wins, we're in 7 wins streak after making the hide and seek strategy where we hide and the other players ""seek"" for fight, we're always hiding ourselves from useless fight and always playing to protect each other, it's being easy to play like that.

i generally jump as far from the plane as i can, then work my way into the center of the circle as the blue starts creeping in. i always try to keep the blue 100-200m behind me so i know there won't be people coming in from my back.

We (DerLANGClan) are S1 players, including conqueror and investigator majors. We have made it our mission to defend a spot no matter what the flight route is, the main spot remains. In our case it is Georgopool City (Zharkie Side). Because we are always there, we know all the routes, tactics and other things like the key card, the recall, the numerous vehicle spawns, coin boxes, weapon boxes and much more. It is also important to be able to control the place, sting traps have become an indispensable part of our work, every route to the recall is occupied by them, even just driving through is almost impossible because we divide the city into four parts so that no one can enter the city yet can leave. One person is always on recall, as soon as a teammate is dead, they are back within a few seconds. These are things that you have to learn with your team over the years; communication is the most important factor.

On Miramar it is always Puerto Paraiso, every squad member can loot a number of things there, once everyone has reached the end they go to the shop and the game begins.

6 upvotes on reddit
blaydesofchaos · 1 year ago

I'm very familiar with your spot in Georgopol and get the key card almost every time I land there. Was very interested to see that you mentioned coin boxes, are they always in the same locations or do you mean you know most of the locations they randomly spawn in? Miramar I love to drop just below Los Leones and loot the multiple sheds, gets me a sniper 8x and enough loot for the endgame.

3 upvotes on reddit
Either_Resource2480 · 1 year ago

The locations of the boxes are always the same, it's just a coincidence whether they are available in the respective match. There is one box in the middle of the intersection, one at the back bridge and one in the recall building. The key for the locked room is always a maximum of 300m away. On average we need about 1-5 minutes to find the key and of course we leave the famas behind. For bots...

Los Leonis? Have you ever been to the mountain of Los Leonis? Our reserve loot is there in case Puerto is just lying around. (Below the city there are 3 entrances into a mountain) Only a few people know the spot, even experienced players are amazed at what else Miramar has to offer.

We also tested all the other spots but stuck with Georgopool & Puerto Paraiso. The fact that a flare gun is ready to loot in both cities within 1 minute is phenomenal. We don't have to wait until the plane has flown over half the map and brings 12 more teams with it.

Posted by Mynameistowelie · in r/PUBG · 6 years ago

Here’s a guideline of mine and I hope to learn from some yours! I play on Xbox. - 1) Be the first on the ground, land together and always watch the circle!!. (Obviously). 2) Try to find a weapon first, then backpack 3) Get lucky or see you in the lobby. 4) Always keep weapon on auto until situation calls to be put on burst or single fire. 5) Stay Sharp at all times and don’t trust buildings even with closed doors. ( Very important). 6) If your teammate looks like their pointing their weapon at you or following you ALWAYS stay behind them! 7) Do your best to be the driver unless u can’t drive and don’t trust other people to drive for you. 8) M4s fully kitted are better than the Scar. ( hate incoming). 9) Always stay close to your team and don’t be a team killer!. 10) Always have the high ground specially when the circle is small and let the enemies come to you. 11) Have fun but remember to use each game as a learning experience to improve knowledge, aim, and tactics. 12) Get those Chicken Dinners!!

How did you get better at playing PUBG

Posted by These_Professor5067 · in r/PUBG · 3 months ago

I’ve been playing this game on and off for quite some time now. I know I haven’t played enough as my playtime is only like 80hrs or so, but I’m just curious as to how most of the players who are good got good at this game effectively. Like apart from grinding you guys’ ass off. How exactly did you build the courage to pick up fights and how did you prepare for matches. I know I’ve framed this so badly but yes looking forward to reading all your responses. Thank you.

Play lots of solos to work on your gunplay, then solo squads to work on your rotation/movement/engagement choices. I never got great but I’ve probably got 1,200 hours or so in this game and I never cared to learn the extra sweaty slide canceling or jiggle peaking, lean spamming, I just play the game and get a chicken every once in a while. Random squads will screw you so half the time I play with randoms i just treat it like solo squads and if they want to join and play as a team, so be it.

The only way to get good at a game is to first have true passion for the game itself and then play it as much as you can. Because once you play it too much, you will eventually learn everything there is to learn about the game and the grind will keep improving your game.

There are people who play this game for like 8 hours a day and those mfs are absolutely demons. Thats why you see people talking about how high the skill gap is and how the game is really difficult for a new player and then most of these new players (or returning players) accuse every player of cheating because the experienced players are just too good at this game.

P.S. I know Cheaters do exist and some regions are literally just Cheaters vs Cheaters.

Ima disagree with this - to AN EXTENT. I fecking love this game. I watch multiple streamers, all the events and I know pretty much all I need to know to in theory win every game. Have I ever won a game? No not even once - why? BECAUSE I CANNOT USE A CONTROLLER AND CANT AFFORD A PC.. This is me saying XBOX PUBG NEEDS PERIPHERAL SUPPORT!!!!!

1 upvotes on reddit
CharlehPock2 · 2 months ago

When you say you can't use a controller, you mean you suck with one or you just can't physically use one?

If they added peripheral support to Xbox PUBG, it would split the player base in half.

Mnk adapter players (cheaters) have a reasonable advantage over controller players. It's not HUGE but it's enough in a game where gunfights are down to 30-40ms windows.

Having mouse in the same lobby as controller is just unfair, so there would need to be two sets of lobbies.

Honestly you can easily tell a good demon player from a cheater, this game has TOO MANY cheaters, especially on console with the Cronus and Zen. Demon players are still able to get rekt if a less good player could pull a slick move off, a cheater on top of the fact that they’re a half decent player is most likely always going to call you

1 upvotes on reddit
CharlehPock2 · 2 months ago

Jesus Christ the cronus/zen...

The cheating on console is barely a fraction of the cheating on PC and a cronus etc doesn't make someone a laser beam.

Saying "especially on console" is just a laugh.

Console has fuck all recoil anyway and those scripting devices only help with vertical recoil, not horizontal, so even someone with all the cheats isn't going to be aimbotting or lasering you from forever away, at least not much better than a decent player could.

The worst ones mnk adapter players. Those are more of a problem on console since they can crank their in game sensitivity to the max and be able to snap onto you way quicker than any controller player could.

They are still killable though, they just have pretty damn fast aim compared to the average player.

1 upvotes on reddit
Bill-Justicles · 3 months ago

The shooting range is surprisingly helpful. The long ranges with moving targets helps learn how to lead shots. The still ones help control your recoil. Then try out all the gun combos. After that, just play matches. Get in gun fights.

Shoot more bullets. I know it sounds sarcastic, but honestly just shoot more.

Someone’s driving by, but you don’t have a clean shot: shoot more.

Enemy running through a field way too far to land consistent shots: Shoot more.

Glider flying overhead: shoot more.

It sometimes means someone will try to sneak up on you, but when that happens: shoot more.

This helps with gun control. Helps with desensitizing yourself to the sound. Helps get you warmed up for the real engagement. And you would be surprised how often you land the ridiculous shots.

I rarely go after gliders. Decided to on Miramar yesterday. Got a hit or two, the guy tried landing, as I swapped to my sniper I took a shot at the same time he decided to hop out the vehicle, got him in the back for the kill. Went on to win the match, glad I went for it because you never know if that one guy you let get away is the one who kills you later.

When using a sniper, basically always be bobbing your head left and right. All it takes is holding a peak for a second too long to get your head taken off so its good practice to always keep that head moving and utilize quick pot shots.

"a second too long"? You mean a second, period. Peaking for a complete second is far too long if you're playing against average to above average players.

As an add-on to this, if you can see the enemy is peeking for ages, try and line up your crosshairs to where his head is whilst behind cover, then you can pop out whilst in ADS and fire off a quick round. I've had countless kills where I've done this, especially satisfying on Miramar when the glider sweats get on top of the mountains 😂

Eight tips to improve your playstyle - From a top 500 player.

Posted by Justlikethegypsysaid · in r/PUBATTLEGROUNDS · 7 years ago
  • 1 - Pay attention to how you are playing in the moment, don't "Phase out" and do what you'd normally do.

To expand upon this point, imagine you are commentating over your own gameplay. Take note of everything you are doing mentally. Focusing a point to much? Identify that and change accordingly.

The worst mistake you can make is trusting yourself to make the right call. You need to be your own voice of doubt. It's better to run away from a fight than to die in one.

  • 2 - Pay attention to your surroundings, and get used to identifying positions by sound.

One thing I use for training this is the following site ; https://www.pubg8x.com/gunfire?lang=english

You want to get used to knowing exactly where you are being shot from by sound alone. If you hear a shot whiz past your head, you want to be able to look to where the shot came from and identify high risk points.

Broken windows, sides of trees, tops of buildings, anywhere you would want to be if you were the shooter. The first step to winning a fight is finding out where your enemy is, the better you are at this, the better you'll be at Pubg.

  • 3 - Risk assessment.

You hear a massive gunfight in a compound nearby, what do you do?

Take note of your weapons, meds, grenades and assess if you'll actually stand a chance in those fights - No sense going up against a team with crate weapons if you only have a 1911.

After you have made this assessment, survey the landscape, are there any elevated positions you can shoot from, or anywhere you can fall back for cover if they notice you? If not, it might be best to leave it alone.

  • 4 - Hotkeys.

For the love of all that is holy, set hot keys for meds/grenades. Too many times have I died because I have accidentally clicked on the wrong med, or that few seconds that it took me was enough for me to be pushed.

The faster you can heal, the faster you can get back into the fight.

  • 5 - Leaning.

Get used to leaning around corners, or even in head-to-head gunfights.

The more your head moves, the less likely that you are to be headshot. Avoiding that much damage will often be what wins you the fight.

  • 6 - Looting.

Everybody knows a loot goblin. Most only need to look in a mirror to find one.

If you hear somebody nearby and you don't have a weapon, don't go for the medkits. Grab a gun and rip them a new one, then go back to looting. Sure that helmet might look tempting, but it won't matter if somebody is lining up a shot on you already.

And unless you need to, never loot in the top 10. It's a death sentence.

  • 7 - Stances.

Did you know that crouching reduces horizontal and vertical recoil equally to the vertical grip? And going prone reduces it more than a fully kitted M4?

Crouching should be your go-to stance in firefights, as its recoil reduction comes at a very low cost, that being, slightly reduced movement speed.

Going prone is a fine art, as doing it at the wrong time will get you killed, but doing it at the right time will allow you to easily wipe full squads like swatting a fly.

The right time to prone is when you have a visual on an enemy/group of enemies that haven't noticed you. Ensure that you have visual on the maximum amount of people (1 in Solo, 2 in Duo, 3-4 in Squads).

If you are confident in your abilities, simply prone, line up your shots and rip into them. Provided you were on target, either the entire squad or atleast half of it should be dead. That gives you the oppertunity to push on the survivors, finish off the downed, or retreat and reposition in the ensuing chaos.

Never, and I mean never, prone in a direct firefight, you will be dead before you hit the floor.

Pay attention to your surroundings and assess what stance is best for you at the time

  • 8 - Accepting defeat.

You won't win every game. Sometimes there are just too many random factors that you can't take into account. Dying should not be a point of frustration, it should be a point of learning. Take note of how you died, and you won't die to it again in the future.

Even the best pro players only have a 25% win rate, that means that the other 75% of the time, they get their ass beat. Accept defeat for what it is and try again, don't get angry, as that will only perpetuate any issues you have when playing. And when you spend too long doing the wrong thing, it makes learning the right thing even harder.

I'm number 1 on Duo FPP right now. Let me go ahead and suggest three more points.

  1. Don't throw random grenades on people whose exact location is unknown or that you are pushing up on (and they are unaware of you pushing). I kill SOOO many people because they do these two things and it is absurd. Just last night I was having an Duo engagement with 2 people. One pushed up smartly without being seen and the other hung back and was providing sniper fire. We were unaware of the pusher until he tried random nade spamming over our berm. He could have simply flanked and downed one of us or any number of better things.

  2. Don't carry an absurd amount of grenades and carry some smokes. You really don't need more than 3. I regularly see people with 6-9 grenades and no smokes. Smokes win games. Carry some. Personally I carry 5 smokes and 2 grenades and so does my teammate.

  3. Use fake shooting to lure people out of safety. If I'm 100m away from a team in a compound with a field between us and I'm on a ridge or whatever, My teammate and I will go over the ridge so we are unable to be seen and we will just shoot into the air at intervals like we are fighting. We will wait 10 or so seconds and then peek over the ridge and 75% of the time the enemy team will be sprinting in the open towards us and we will melt them.

I'm rank 11,949 right now. I'll throw my hat in on some advice:

  1. Make sure your bullets shoot from your gun. If you aren't shooting bullets then you are probably not hitting enemies with them.
  2. Use a mouse and keyboard. You don't want to use a controller on PC PUBG my friend!
  3. A healthy amount of bitching is completely "ok" after the third shotgun hit to the face doesn't down an opponent. It's fuel for your next top 10 and possible chicken dinner.

One bonus tip:

Don't quit until you get a chicken dinner. If that means you miss work the next day so be it. You don't want to end on a low point.

I'm rank 174,678 here are my tips:

-Are you mad that you die early in every game? Just drop on that one little hut in the middle of a field. You can't die in the early game if noone is near you taps head

-If your teammate fucks up something yell at them furiously. This will make sure they know that they are bad at the game and will motivate them to become better and improve. There's no better motivation then being constantly reminded that you are the worst player ever.

-If you want to win a game all you have to do is be the last one alive. The key word is alive. I see so many people complaining that they can't win a game when really all you have to do is not die, it's easy. If you are alive when there are only 1 people left, congratulations, you've won.

I absolutely agree on all three points, primarily points two and three.

Smoke grenades are an absolute life saver in the top 10s, and even before. I can't count how many chicken dinners I owe to them.

On the third point, I have a reccomendation. Have your teammate move a little ways away, the small audio difference makes it sound far more like an actual engagement and will have players flocking to you 9 times out of 10.

Top 200 solo and top 100 duo FPP player here. Disagree 100%.

Strategy is highly dependent on how confident you are in gunfights. If you are a top 500 player, the average player (there is no real matchmaking in PUBG) has almost no chance against you in a fair 1on1 fight, so there is pretty much negligible risk. Most of your deaths will be due to being pinched by second player when you are engaging a first player.

I always land in a smaller compound near the center of map. I will NEVER, EVER land in some remote fringe area.

If you are confident in your gunplay, you immediately kill the 1 (or 2 at most) other players around you and gain a huge positional lead going into the midgame.

BTW, I'm NOT an aggressive player at all, and I play for wins not frags. Most of my solo FPP wins are with 4-8 kills. I am always evaluating the risk vs reward of every movement, I almost never go for crates, and I do not engage for no reason.

Yeah I'm gonna call bullshit to that. You don't consistently rank up by playing the "who found the AR" early game. Early game fights are about much more about luck than skill, so you're far better off not rolling that dice.

eh, only if you are extraordinarily confident in your ability to win shootouts. As far as I'm concerned all this does is delay you getting the experience in PUBG head to heads you need to win critical end circle battles

I'm top 1000 in NA with a 10% winrate, and this is exactly how I play. Anecdotal, I know, but if you're cool with a longer midgame long range dropping is really good for the w/l ratio.

Top 200-500 player here and I think this is a quality post. People are unnessecary hung up on the prone thing. It is a tool. The point is add it to your toolkit and use it situationally. Didn't Liquid prone for like half a game in an open field when they were down 2 players??

No, these are possibly the worst grip options for me.

There are no best grips, only the most fitting grips for each player. Personally, I use angled on g36 (would use thumb and light but vikendi don’t have those).

However, half grip is probably the worst for big scope spraying, since it makes the scope so shaky it’s hard to aim, and further away when you need to single tap, it against doesn’t make the gun good.

The best grip is probably vertical for starters, for intermediate angle grip, for pros thumb grip or light grip.

Started playing for the win again

For some reason I noticed that when I started playing the game (solo) I was super careful with rotations and positioning, and over time I just started pushing everything and going for fights and kills. It was fun! lots of fights, lots of kills, but it gets monotonous.

Last week I decided to start playing solos for the win, paying attention to my rotations and positioning, etc etc.

Games are fun again! And I ended up doing even more kills hahaha Here I won the match with 13k and killing the last 5 players.

I definitely recommend not pushing for every fight and play for the win, if you also forgot what’s the point in PUBG.

The point of pubg is different for each player. As you may know, taking chicken dinner might be fun for a lot of people, but becoming top frag can be fun for others as well. I'm not sure how someone can associate lots of fights with monotony, as there are infinite possibilities to every fight and no two engagements are ever the same.

Brave_Baby979 · OP · 2 months ago

Yes, but the strats for fighting are always the same in the first circles, and hot dropping is literally shoot and survive, there’s not much complexity apart from being good at close range. Very “basic” fights in my opinion.

Fights evolve and change through the match, as the circles force different situations. Also endgame fights are a completely different thing so, as I see it, hotdropping and going just for the kills is indeed monotonous.

It’s just how I see it anyway! We all enjoy and get tired of different things

[Guide]: Squad Tactics and Strategies

Posted by Danklord_Ezio · in r/PUBGMobile · 5 years ago

I have been playing PUBG Mobile with my mates for quite some time and figured out a few strategies and tactics to push up and get chicken dinners regularly.

  • Make the sniper or the marksman your in-game leader and scout (vice versa).
  • If you have a carry fragger additionally mark him as your flanker.
  • It's always important to have a spoiler in your squad, so if you can’t use your sniper as a whistleblower use your supporter.
  • For the snipers. Make sure you have a level 3 helmet.
  • Have a skilled marksman, remember at most times than few he will decide your squad’s fate in-game.
  • Ensure both of your fragger(s) are in proper synergy with each other, otherwise, it will lead to your doom.
  • Utilize your supporter as he is the only one without a fixed role to his full extent. Make sure he never stays idle. A fully vigilant supporter is nothing short of having a skilled marksman at times.

Pardon my English, one of my squadmates had put up an article containing all the long and short of this points. Please do join in with your comments and suggestions. Cheers!

From my experience, when you start to play for rank, it stops being fun.

My usual crew is pushing towards Conqueror every season. They play 3h+ every day, they got good, always in sync.

It's not the same as before, (no more goofing around), because they can't lose rank.

What's your favorite thing about pubg?

Posted by AiapaecGaming · in r/PUBGMobile · 7 months ago

Seems like most people use the internet to complain about stuff.

Why don't we try thinking about something positive, like what we like best about pubg.

For me one of the things that I really enjoy is how every game is a new opportunity to create and overcome challenges.

I love making the game as hard as humanly possible and then figuring out how to win anyways.

best PUBG strategies

Key Considerations for PUBG Strategies

  1. Map Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the map layout, including loot locations, vehicle spawns, and high-ground areas. Understanding the terrain can give you a tactical advantage.

  2. Landing Spots: Choose your landing spot wisely. Popular areas may have better loot but also attract more players. Consider quieter locations for a safer start.

  3. Looting Efficiently: Prioritize essential items like weapons, armor, and healing supplies. Be quick but thorough in your looting to avoid being caught off-guard.

  4. Sound Awareness: Use headphones to listen for footsteps, gunfire, and vehicle sounds. Sound cues can help you locate enemies and avoid ambushes.

  5. Positioning and Cover: Always be aware of your surroundings. Use natural cover (trees, rocks) and buildings to shield yourself from enemy fire. High ground can provide a tactical advantage.

  6. Team Communication: If playing in squads, communicate effectively with your teammates. Share loot, call out enemy positions, and coordinate movements.

  7. Zone Awareness: Keep an eye on the shrinking play zone. Plan your movements to stay within the safe area while avoiding open ground where you can be easily spotted.

  8. Engagement Decisions: Assess whether to engage or avoid fights. Sometimes it's better to let other players eliminate each other before moving in.

Recommendations:

  • Practice Regularly: The more you play, the better you'll understand the mechanics and strategies.
  • Watch Pro Players: Learn from streamers and professional players to pick up advanced tactics and positioning strategies.
  • Adapt Your Playstyle: Be flexible in your approach based on the situation. Sometimes aggressive play works, while other times a stealthy approach is best.

By focusing on these strategies, you'll improve your chances of surviving and winning in PUBG. Happy gaming!
