General News
For general news, subreddits like r/news and r/todaysnews are popular choices. These subreddits focus on current events and provide a broad overview of what's happening around the world [1:1]. Additionally, r/worldnews is another subreddit that covers international news stories, offering a global perspective
[2:4].
Alternative News and Conspiracy Theories
If you're interested in news that might not be covered by mainstream media or topics related to conspiracy theories (excluding paranormal ones), r/FoxFiction tracks misinformation on right-wing media [3:1]. While not strictly news-focused, this subreddit can provide insights into media narratives and biases.
Political News
For political news, r/politics is a well-known subreddit, although it may have a particular bias depending on the prevailing opinions and voting patterns [5:2]. It's important to approach political subreddits with caution, as they can sometimes reflect extreme biases from both sides
[4:2]. Seeking news from multiple reputable sources outside Reddit is recommended to get a balanced view
[4:1].
Uplifting News
If you're looking for positive news, subreddits like r/UpliftingNews and r/goodnews focus on sharing uplifting stories and developments [5:1]. Another option is r/Positive_News, which also aims to highlight positive events and achievements around the world
[5:3].
Considerations Beyond the Discussions
While these subreddits can be useful for staying informed, it's crucial to cross-reference information with established news outlets to ensure accuracy and avoid misinformation. Engaging in discussions on Reddit can provide diverse perspectives, but always consider the potential biases inherent in user-generated content.
What’s the best Reddit page for keeping up with today’s events?
r/news or r/todaysnews probably
Thanks! Checking those out
New to reddit and I know nothing about reddit.
Need some interesting subreddits that I can enjoy and also gain new info.
Any kind of group is welcome I do t care about controversial news and have no problem with rants and hate against governments.
r/anime_titties, I think.
LMFAO what the hell? I genuinely thought you were trolling but then I checked it and its actually sub about news. Lmao what a wild name for a sub about news. Caught me off-guard.
I like trolling around with those sub names XD
I love being on r/OnlyFans too, the stuff there gets me all worked up. Almost as much as r/dragonporn
r/worldnews
Once upon a time but not these days.

i’m aware a few exist that post some people pretty non-biased content but i was wondering if there was a sub with stories that the media doesn’t speak about and stories kept under wraps other than conspiracy subreddits. or to be more specific, if any subreddits focus on the discussion of big pharma, media control, illuminati etc that would lean more towards conspiracy theories but without the paranormal ones (ex. aliens) if that makes any sense. because the conspiracy ones ive seen focus on ufos and i was wondering if there were any little communities looking at other topics or that are more diverse and maybe lesser known.
r/anime_titties ?
god i thought you were trolling for a solid minute, i’ll check it out thanks dude
If i were trolling i would've said r/worldpolitics
/r/FoxFiction tracks misinformation on right wing media, mostly Fox but others are included sometimes. Check the sidebar for related subs.
thank ya, i’ll definitely look into it
Really not many you’ll find the extreme bias of both sides, find an outside source
I already subscribe to multiple sources and try to follow both sides of the aisle and world news. I was just hoping for some discussion. Everyone in my life is sick of talking politics.
I'd be wary of such subs. You may get a distorted idea of what's going on or what opinions are popular/unpopular due to the way people up/down vote or the articles they choose to post. I know some people complain about the mods in some subs as they think they're trying to push an agenda by removing certain articles, etc.
It can be interesting to see what some peoples opinions are, but I do recommend you seek news from a variety of reputable sources.
I say all this as some people have told me in no uncertain terms that they want their entire online experience to be one giant echo chamber. They told me that they were aware of what that meant. They knew what an echo chamber was. But they did not want to see or hear anything or anyone that is different.
If they could make it happen some would willingly have their entire life like that, not just online.

Go anywhere else lmao
I know about r/UpliftingNews I just want similar subs
Lately, /r/politics
seeing all the articles about Trump losing day after day lifts my spirits and restores my faith in humanity.
r/Positive_News
How about r/goodnews

Kinda hard to be neutral at this point. It’s like asking for an honest and neutral opinion on Hitler.
An honest and neutral account of Hitler is just called… history.
WWII and the Holocaust have been incredibly well-documented, and the only conclusion to make was that Hitler was a bad dude.
None of them
none are
Literally none.
Subreddits are never going to be neutral. Just get your news from AP and Reuters, which are as unbiased as possible and where many ‘news’ sources get their news, before they spin it to match their narrative.
I use Reddit for a lot of my news updates on sports, gaming, movies. I have tried cutting Reddit back but often find myself coming back because it's still a very good aggregator.
What are some good ways to keep on top of things without having to come to this website?
Don't watch/listen to any news, its mostly just government propaganda anyway.
There is more than politics. Hard to tell on reddit, though
I am going to second this op. The reality is that unmolested news almost doesn't exist anymore. Almost all of it is like 90% PR with 10% truth so it's believable.
I really think that we're getting to a point where once it becomes custom made AI fear pron, there's going to be a part of society that will become consumed with it and will live out the rest of their lives in a nightmare matrix. You can already kinda see it with the boomers that live on Facebook with trump at the center of their lives.
I know it's hard, but you've either got to turn away from the "news" and deal with what's right in front of you, or be consumed by an addiction that didn't even give you a high to start with.
And if AI made the news that everybody reads, monopolizing information, then anything anyone would be reading would be constructed under the bias of whatever is feeding or training the AI model. We would have debates about Liberal vs Conservative, Blue vs. Red, Democrat vs. Republican AI news models!
Yeah let's just live like plants instead
Subscribe to the rss feeds of your favourite news sources and use an rss feed reader app.
Any good recommendations?
I use a rss app called feedly
Printed Newspaper, best are weekly newspaper to not have waste of concentration for daily news.
Subscribe to a real life newspaper! Get it delivered to your door
Second this. I got a newspaper subscription and love it
Don’t!
Seeing all the bad news about the climate and whatever bigoted BS US conservatives are doing now kind of ruins my mental health.
That said, I still want to be plugged in and have a general idea of what's going on. Especially the actually good news.
Are there any subs that fit that niche?
/r/upliftingnews?
r/MadeMeSmile
I needed this today. Thank you.
r/goodnews
I don't really care to see a story about everytime Trump farts.
I personally go to a subreddit I like, then click on the top 5 or 10 poster user profiles in that sub to see what other subs they're active in.
I've surprisingly found some good ones that way.
Oh that's a good strategy.
Yes, it's also great for boredom lol
I ask Google, "Does Reddit have a sub for <insert keywords>?" It's usually pretty good.
Sure. There's a search bar. Works great.
Also
r/ListOfSubreddits
and
r/findasubreddit
Thanks a lot (The search bar is terrible though)
r/wowthissubexists
Personally, I just search for keywords related to topics I'm already interested in. Then, when the results come up, click on the Communities tab to see a list of subreddits that discuss that topic.
I’m not on the Bird App and just wondering are there any good reddits aside from r/soccer.
Not an app/site but the United Stand have daily coverage of pretty much everything
Sky sports news is probably the most reliable up to date information. As a english person theres no better news outlet for information on the premier league
Getting a new app won’t make some news appear… There is no transfer news. We’re inept
Lol wishful thinking. Even just up to date rumours
The bird app is where it’s at, I’m afraid.
There’s also a lot of BS on there too with people putting statements out thinking they’re ITK when they’re not.
There’s Twitter because there are so many journalists like Romano ornstein etc I would advise twitter
