General Political Discussion
For engaging political discussions that cover a variety of topics, subreddits like r/PoliticalDebate are recommended. This subreddit is known for facilitating debates and discussions across different political perspectives [1:1]. Another subreddit mentioned is r/anime_titties, which restricts news involving India, China, and the US, focusing instead on global news
[1:2].
Bipartisan and Educational Communities
Subreddits like r/Presidents have been praised for their bipartisan nature and educational content. Users appreciate the respectful conversations and the community vibe, making it a favorite among those seeking less biased political discourse [2:1]
[2:2]. This subreddit focuses mainly on historical politics but maintains a balanced approach to discussions.
Conservative Perspectives
For those interested in conservative viewpoints, r/Conservative and its sister subreddit r/askaconservative are good options. These communities offer spaces for logical discussions and perspectives from the right [5:1]. Additionally, r/Tuesday is composed of Republicans, Centre-Rightists, and Conservatives who oppose Trump, providing a nuanced conservative perspective
[5:3].
Moderate and Diverse Political Views
Subreddits like r/moderatepolitics include people from all political spectrums, fostering discussions that aim to bridge divides between different ideologies [5:3]. This subreddit is appreciated for its mix of both sides and attempts to avoid echo chambers.
Specialized Political Content
For more specialized political content, users have suggested subreddits like r/stupidpol, which provides commentary on current events and political issues [3:1]. Additionally, r/ar15, while apolitical, often carries a conservative vibe due to its focus on firearms
[5:5].
These subreddits offer a range of political discussions, from general debates to specific ideological perspectives, catering to various interests and preferences within the realm of politics.
Looking for a political discussion subreddit (with more than 5 users) that doesn’t entirely evolve around a single figure (you know). I’d like to have engaging discussions about a variety of topics.
r/anime_titties has restrictions on news involving India, China, and the US which generally prohibits domestic news of those countries, and restricts news when those countries make world headlines.
r/PoliticalDebate
This is quite frankly,my favourite sub on all of Reddit,I spent most of my time here, more so than any other subs I’ve been to.
And there is a very good reason to that, its bipartisanship, sure, biases exist but come on,we all have biases, right?
I want to thank the Mods for handling this sub very well.
I also want to thank the many members of this sub who have respectful conversations and admit that they are wrong whenever they lose an argument but play it respectfully.
More subs should be like r/Presidents
May God Bless us all!
Yeah, its amazing how a sub as inheritly political as this one manages to be so relatively unbiased and educational. This is one of the few subs I think has very good moderation and a very good community (although I'm still salty they banned Jeb jokes), which contributes to why I comment here so often
I've been here for just a day and I agree! There will be some random meme or game sub that gets super political to the point where it devolves into angry, argumentative people yelling at each other. And a presidents sub of all places has one of the most respectful communities.
You’re in for a wild Cholera-Jumbo-Peanut-Genocide rollercoaster and that’s the best part
Out of all the subs I'm on this is by far one of my favorites. It's probably in my top 3 for posts I look for.
Probably 90% of all my reddit activity occurs on this sub
I describe this sub as being the closest to "a community" cause most other subs fail to have that "community" vibe
And the most incredible part is the fact that this sub is politically based (historical mainly) yet as you said ,there is that bipartisan peace and barely any fights
i mean... you are left leaning, and I'm right leaning, yet we always get along
Bipartisanship on reddit….who knew that was possible
I don’t think I even am all that left leaning, recently I began to try to be as centrist as possible
I agree! And I like this sub because I learned a lot here, get to know everyone’s opinions, and have fun with everyone! I also appreciate the Mods too and they did a good job!
I've just watched a good political video that I want to recommend and it just came to my mind that I wouldn't even know where I'd share it since it's not related to the sub
Are there still any subs that are not completely overran with identity politics or that will not ban you for the smallest offence?
Almost all left subs consider it a sacred duty to whittle down the elect so that only enlightened, morally uncorrupted beings can participate. For the mods of these subs, left-wing politics is a sort of online roleplay game whereby they can self-aggrandize.
I got banned from r/news for replying to a comment stating they already knew the slant of an article about a (likely) right-wing person attacking a "candidate Running for State House Seat Attacked in Fayette County Home"
Initial comment:
>Completely bizarre that I didn't even have to click the article to know which party the attacked candidate was representing in the election.
Mine:
>It's highly upvoted on Reddit. You're only ever going to see this type of content.
>I thought the same thing specifically because it was on this subreddit, highly upvoted and lots of comments. If it were the other way around it'd have 200 comments, most of them deleted, and the comments locked.
No broken rules. No foul language. Just a thought that a particular jannie got real upset about.
I got banned from /r/news for commenting that /r/news is the least informative part of reddit. I take that as a badge of honor.
Regrettably this is true
I've been banned from many for even just participating in verboten subs - sometimes even when going against their grain
I said vaccines are not so bad in "nonewnormal" for example - and one of my first comments on "the_donald" was how strawmanning socialism helps no one
I got marvel movie spoilers in my inbox for stuff like that lmao
> I got marvel movie spoilers in my inbox for stuff like that lmao
Peak reddit villainy
Aside from this one, no. Spend less time on reddit.
Yeah, I’ve never figured out the story behind the sub name, but it’s easily the best news sub on Reddit.
I'd just recommend finding like minded people in a smaller place or on decentralized social media like the fediverse
I'm not sure about such subs still existing, this is the only sane one I found, if any others does, it's probably not gonna be long until they're gone
r/anime_titties is my go-to (yes really)
That sub is completely infested by shills and the jannies think that's fine
Yeah, from a cursory glance it’s just worldnews but actually worldnews and not “redditors angry about Ukraine”
r/stupidpol is pretty good.
Other than that r/BigCatGifs is my primary source of political commentary.
Any other political Reddit communities you'd recommend?
r/Conservative
Reddit is captured by the left. The only option is to increase conversation here or create your own
Revamping my Reddit use and I’m trying to join as many subreddits as I can that I enjoy, can have logical discussions in, and use to take in more conservative perspectives. So far, I’ve joined the Conservative and Republican subreddits, as well as the one for Trump. Any others? Non-political subreddit recommendations are welcome as well. Thank you!
(Also, if this post is not allowed, I apologize!)
I’m afraid I haven’t found it. This is the only political subreddit I follow. It’s a pretty special place actually.
The others are either too tribal, or are basically left attacking right for expressing their opinions.
I would X is an alternative and has some really good opinions - but with a big caveat - be very choosy about who you follow and mute those pesky sensitive keywords aggressively.
(For example I mute all Palestine Israel related tweets not because I’m not interested because 99% of tweets there are shit)
Thank you for your response!! I don’t use X a ton, but it sounds like Instagram is for me what X is for you - I’ve been very good about muting words/phrases I don’t like and have curated a pretty good feed. What I like about Reddit, though, is it’s a little more inconspicuous and easier to scroll.
As a Democrat I've asked myself the same question. I used to look at the intellectual dark web and centrist but those can be incredibly hit or miss. I tend to stay away from the more left-leaning subs because they tend to be an echo chamber even ask a liberal or whatever tends to have mostly Democrat input. I like this sub because you get a pretty good mix of both sides.
I wish there was more subreddits like this. I think we need more places were different sides can come together for logical and open conversations to understand each other more. We're so divided today and it wasn't this bad when I was a kid. It's just awful, I hate it and wish we could put an end to the political battles.
There's r/Tuesday, which is largely composed of Republicans, Centre-Rightists, and Conservatives who oppose Trump.
There's also r/CanadianConservative of Conservatism subreddit from a Canadian perspective. Plus, since they're Canadian (As am I), they have different priorities and are focused on Canadian affairs.
And then r/moderatepolitics, which includes people from all political spectrums.
There are a few:
r/ar15 is Apolitical, but usually there is a lot of Conservative vibe, and guns have more conservative marketing tactics. Sometimes the boys over on r/liberalgunowners go onto the ar15 sub to show off their rifles, and that’s completely fine.
r/PoliticalDebate if you want to have some good debates
If you find this utopia please let us know. I've not found it and I don't know any good other good subs like this one.
I didn’t realize I was searching for utopia🤣 I just want subreddits that align with me politically/lifestyle-wise!
The sister sub of this one, r/askaconservative, is also pretty good.
If you're looking for political discussions across the aisle between Conservatives and Liberals, I like r/Askpolitics. It's still mostly Liberals like a lot of Reddit, but there's a significant Conservative minority, and there are definitely a lot of good faith discussions there. There are plenty of bad ones too, but I find it to be worth weeding through for the good discussions.
Wait r/askaconservative is a sister sub of this one??? I always thought they had an intense rivalry going on. What’s the difference?
Well, that sub calls this one its sister sub, so I guess I just took its word for it. I don't know why there are two different ones. I believe this one has slightly stricter rules.
That is somewhat true. If you look at the Blue Tory and Red Tory currents within the Conservative Party of Canada, their programs aren't too dissimilar to the Democrats, albeit more Right-leaning. I would say our general attitudes would mirror the Rockefeller Republicans more.
Even then, our Conservatives still receive flak from the Left and the Liberals since we aren't woke, plus we still support limits on immigration.
I’m searching for a community that has civil discourse regarding topics relating to politics.
r/PoliticalDebate
Thanks!
/r/NeutralPolitics
Are there any that are more active?
How about r/PoliticalDebate?
Thank you
Most of the subs are biased and/or disrespecting to a side. So is there a neutral one ?
Not really, the best you can hope for is stumbling over decent people now and then.
Nope
I’ve been searching for the same type of discussions and this post was the top result, if that tells you anything. It seems that r/politics and r/conservative spend more time and effort talking shit about each other than actually discussing the platforms.
Edit : Possibly r/neutralpolitics
Thank you
I am over seeing politics in every sub. What are some solid communities where there isn't much politics but still has great info.
Actually, I'm now just actively removing myself from those subreddit. Noticed it's a bunch of old 5m+ meme subreddit posting the same shit

Maybe I'll just unsub from em all. But then I see a bunch show up on my feed lmao
if you find one let me know
You can block all the bot subs that have 1000s of ai bots posting and commenting for bill gates. Well not all since you can only block 100 subs and its not enough anymore with all this ai bot spam
I doubt there is one for respectful debate. I've only had one or two encounters of respectful debates where the person I was debating against just wanted to see my view, and I wanted to see theirs.
I wish these debates could happen respectfully, but many people get all nasty when politics is involved, for whatever reason.
Right!? Unfortunately it’s in these respectful debates that we can become less polarized.
Exactly! Civility means that people are more likely to listen, thus causing them to see your side! But people think screaming and crying is gonna do that, like toddlers.
r/changemyview
That seems to be more structured than others
Yeah I liked it a lot. Might even appeal my ban sometime, it's been a couple months.
Sir, this is Reddit
IT’S MA’AM! (In my deepest raspy voice 🤣)
/r/AskPolitics though it’s geared towards American politics only
I feel like r/politics doesn't have room for healthy, civil, understanding conversations. I like understanding people and seeing multiple point of views - and not just a single hivemind of redditor after redditor bandwagoning off of the same naarative that Trump is completely terrible and needs to die immediately. That's at least how I feel the majority of political subreddits are. Okay... some don't wish for his death but at the very least 99% of comments portray the man as some evil, heartless, narcissitic, man and in need of serious psychological help. While I do believe there is a possibility that they have good and even amazing reason for saying so, I enjoy hearing alternative points of view. I don't like the 'black and whiteness' that a person (or their policies) are all good (r/the_donald), or all bad (r/politics).
So.. I don't mind hearing some other right leaning or left leaning subreddits. Mention them all please, in fact! However, idealistically I'd like a nice ratio of NS v TS.
Thanks in advance!
Edit: none of the subreddits mentioned in the automods comment were helpful.
