What Redditors are Saying

Best Toaster Ovens

TL;DR

  • Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro: Highly recommended for its versatility and reliability, despite being pricey [2:5].
  • Cosori CO130-AO: Known for durability and excellent cooking performance [1:3], [5:2].
  • Panasonic FlashXpress: Praised for its toasting capabilities and longevity [4:4].

Breville Toaster Ovens

Breville toaster ovens are frequently mentioned as top choices due to their quality and functionality. The Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro is particularly noted for its 13 cooking functions, including air frying and dehydrating, making it a versatile kitchen appliance [2:5]. Users have reported using their Breville ovens daily for years without issues, highlighting their durability and efficiency [3:3], [3:10]. However, some users noted that newer models might not last as long as older ones [3:4].

Cosori Toaster Ovens

The Cosori CO130-AO is another highly recommended option, praised for its durability, versatility, and superior cooking quality [1:2], [5:2]. It combines the functionalities of an air fryer and oven, making it a great investment for those looking for a multi-functional appliance. Despite being less known than Breville, it stands out as a reliable choice for long-term use.

Panasonic FlashXpress

For those focused on toasting capabilities, the Panasonic FlashXpress receives high praise. Users appreciate its even toasting and compact size, making it ideal for smaller kitchens [4:4], [4:9]. It's considered a standout option for those who prioritize toasting over other cooking functions.

Other Considerations

When selecting a toaster oven, consider your specific needs such as available counter space, desired cooking functions, and budget. For smaller kitchens, the Cuisinart TOA-70 offers a compact design with multiple cooking options [2:4]. Additionally, while Black+Decker is seen as a middle-tier brand, some users find their products satisfactory for basic needs [1:5], [5:2].

I would recommend the KitchenAid KCO211BM. It’s a great toaster oven that can toast, bake, broil, and warm up your food. It has a large capacity, a digital display, and a non-stick interior. It also comes with a baking pan and a rack. It’s easy to use and clean, and it looks nice on the countertop. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s worth it if you want a quality toaster oven that can handle any task.

Oh yeah, you gotta check out the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro. That thing’s a beast—13 cooking functions, air fry, dehydrate, and all that fancy stuff. It’s pricey, but man, it’s worth every dollar.

1 upvotes on reddit
Outrageous-Buffalo90 · 6 months ago

Hmm, sounds solid. But does it actually cook evenly? I’ve had toaster ovens before that heat up like a volcano on one side and barely warm on the other.

Present_Music_1556 · 6 months ago

Okay, real talk—my kitchen is the size of a shoebox. I need a solid toaster oven that won’t eat up all my counter space. Suggestions?

1 upvotes on reddit
denis_chang · OP · 6 months ago

Oh, easy! The Cuisinart TOA-70 is perfect for that. It’s small, but still has air frying, baking, grilling, all that good stuff.

1 upvotes on reddit
Present_Music_1556 · 6 months ago

Ooo, air frying too? That’s a win. But does it actually cook well, or is it just “good for a small oven” kinda thing?

What's the current best toaster oven BIFL favorite?

Posted by DinglerBerries · in r/BuyItForLife · 1 year ago

I posted this on another smaller sub and didnt get any responses. This is why I should just stick to asking questions here...

I have a few of my top choices in mind here... what is typically regarded as the best BIFL toaster oven? It looks like the Cosari air fryer/oven combo is good, if not the best. Wondering what people use, how long they have owned it for, and how they like it? Im also looking at the black and decker brand, but to me black and decker symbolizes middle tier equipment, so probably going to go with the cosari

Main things Id use for:

-Chicken :D

-Chicken wings

-more f'in chicken

-toast

I have had 4 breville toaster ovens (each one gifted to someone when I or they move) with the oldest being nearly 15 years old. they all still work with minimal maitinence (just normal cleaning) and the only real complaint being how hard it can be to clean the smell out of the air fry fan.

I go to a shop in Brooklyn that is a specialty grocery and cookbook store; they do toasted sandwiches for food and use this toaster. When I was considering, I asked the shopkeeper if they like it and she said “that thing is a beast”.

I ordered it as I left the shop and it’s been phenomenal ever since. It’s a little funky because the temperature increments are in Celsius, and you can’t modify your settings once it’s started, but otherwise it’s great. The hash brown setting is by far the most underrated toaster oven feature.

We've had the Brevelle smart oven Pro since 2019 it gets used daily and we love it and use it to cook so many things...we roast veggies in it, cook frozen pizzas, make toast, reheat pizza in it etc. We use it more often than our regular oven as it's great for cooking smaller amounts of things and saves energy instead of turning on the gas oven.

I would buy another one and recommend Brevelle to others.

The only thing I really hate about toaster ovens in general is you cannot really clean the insides of them. If someone has a solution for this that actually works, I am all ears. I haven't found any good ways to do this and searched high and low online for solutions.

If you’re willing to put up with the small slots and no bagel/defrost mode, and if you search around for one (eBay listings for these are nuts), the Sunbeam Radiant Control is a pretty darn nice unit. Not sure how old mine is, but it is definitely older than me, and I use it several times a week. Newer ones might be made a bit more cheaply though.

Your instinct about the Cosori is good. Based on my testing, the Cosori CO130-AO is indeed an excellent choice for a long-lasting toaster oven. It outperforms many competitors in durability, versatility, and cooking quality. It's a better investment than Black+Decker for long-term use.

I was leaning toward the Cosori too, but this smart toaster changed my mind. I am not a Kitchen person who care that much about a toaster, but the features are awesome than regular toasters. I promise you will love it.

I bought the the Breville Joule® Oven Air Fryer Pro and am not happy. It does not make toast worth a darn. I have never owned an air fryer but I don't think this feature works as it is supposed to. I have enjoyed it's baking feature. Loved my previous Breville model. I guess you too many bells and whistle's is not a good thing to wish for.

I've been searching for quite some time for a good toaster oven and I've found 3 models come up pretty consistently but coverage and comparisons online seem very lacking.

Breville BOV800XL Oster XL Digital Convection Oven w/ French Doors Ninja® Foodi™ 10-in-1 XL Pro Air Fry Oven, Large Countertop Convection Oven

Some have an air fryer, some don't. It'd be nice but I don't care about it all that much. Bigger is better but not at the expense of quality. Breville does make a model with an air sryer but it's crazy expensive and I'm at the end of my rope with this toaster oven thing so I'd appreciate genuine knowledge on the subject.

I've got the Breville BOV450XL and I love it.

It's been about 8 years now and it's still going strong. The start button occasionally changes the temperature from F to C instead of starting, but that's a very recent development. Even if that ends up killing the machine, that's lasted about 7 years longer than any other toaster oven I've owned.

It browns toast beautifully and does a great job as a small oven as well.

I haven't used that Oster, nor any in the past 8 years, but I had one before my Breville and it broke after a few months. It had good ratings on Amazon, so I might have just been unlucky.

What are the Best Toasters to Buy Now?

My trusty toaster of 10 years finally gave up the ghost this morning, i’m not looking for anything super fancy just something reliable, consistent, and budget-friendly let’s say under $50, but I’m flexible if it’s worth it.

I do want my bagels and bread to come out evenly toasted without burning one side and leaving the other side cold.

I found some good review regarding these and i also consider buying one on this list

  • Cuisinart CPT-122
  • KitchenAid KMT3115OB 2-Slice Toaster
  • Dash Clear View Toaster
  • Breville BTA830XL Die-Cast 2-Slice Toaster

The Cuisinart CPT-122 I got from Target a couple months ago is easily the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned, any category. Rickety construction and the basic lower bread lever fails to engage randomly 4-5 times in a row before finally staying down and toasting commences.

Unplug, remove screws from bottom, some may be hiding behind rubber feet

I bet you toast fell between the lever mechanism

I bought one yesterday based upon online reviews, and I’m going to return it tomorrow. One side of the bread is properly toasted while the other side is barely toasted.

Right? I sit AGHAST at the crapitude.

(And I appreciate the commenter tip on how to clear a mechanical blocking of the drop lever. My CPT-122 was failing in this way from the absolute start.)

If you like adventure, this toaster is for you. Will the toast pop or will it not? Will it keep toasting until the whole f'ing kitchen fills with smoke and sets off the GD fire alarm or will it not? Better results toasting over an open flame.

This is a hill I will die on.

Toasters are trash. They are among the most diabolical and useless inventions every conceived. Single function. Takes up space. Makes inferior products.

Butter up your bread and toast them in a pan the way nature intended.

I've come to agree. None of today's toaster last more than a year or so before the elements start failing. Some barely make it a few months. I bet there's one company making that crappy element wire for every toaster on the planet. Every toaster since the one we had when I was a kid can't toast properly. Under done. Burnt. Uneven. It's s crapshoot of what your toast will be every day.

I second a Dualit. I’ve had my Dualit Architect toaster (and kettle) for 7 years and going strong. The hospital that I work for has Dualit Vario toasters in the staff break rooms because they last a long time and are repairable (that specific model, not all Dualit toasters are repairable).

I wanted one of these but they do not make the single long slot version in North America . Big sad.

best toaster oven

Key Considerations for Choosing the Best Toaster Oven:

  1. Size and Capacity: Ensure the toaster oven fits your kitchen space and can accommodate the dishes you plan to cook. Look for models that can fit a standard 9x13 inch baking pan if you need more cooking capacity.

  2. Cooking Functions: Look for versatile cooking options such as baking, broiling, toasting, and air frying. Some models also offer rotisserie and dehydrating functions.

  3. Temperature Range: A good toaster oven should have a wide temperature range (typically 150°F to 500°F) to handle various cooking tasks.

  4. Ease of Use: Features like digital controls, easy-to-read displays, and intuitive settings can enhance usability. A removable crumb tray simplifies cleaning.

  5. Heating Elements: Consider models with convection heating for more even cooking and faster results. Some toaster ovens have multiple heating elements for better performance.

  6. Energy Efficiency: Toaster ovens generally use less energy than traditional ovens, but check for energy-efficient models to save on electricity.

Recommendations:

  • Breville BOV900BSS Smart Oven Air: This model is highly rated for its versatility, with 13 cooking functions, a large capacity, and smart features like an internal temperature probe. It also includes convection cooking for even results.

  • Hamilton Beach 31103DA: A budget-friendly option that offers good performance with multiple cooking functions and a spacious interior. It’s user-friendly and great for everyday use.

  • Cuisinart TOA-60 Air Fryer Toaster Oven: This model combines air frying with traditional toaster oven functions, making it a great all-in-one appliance. It has a decent capacity and is easy to operate.

Choosing the right toaster oven depends on your cooking needs and kitchen space, so consider what features are most important to you!
