TL;DR
Curated Collections
Several users have shared curated collections of Zoom virtual backgrounds. These include both static and animated backgrounds gathered from various websites [1]
[2]. You can find these collections on platforms like Google Drive, where users have compiled a range of options to bring joy to meetings
[1:3].
Community-Based Backgrounds
For fans of the TV show "Community," there are specific backgrounds available that feature iconic scenes and characters like Troy and Abed [3:1]. These themed backgrounds can add a fun and personalized touch to your Zoom calls, especially if you're a fan of the show.
Creative and Fun Options
Some users suggest using creative and humorous backgrounds, such as strip clubs or post-apocalyptic scenes with zombies [4]. These can be a playful way to lighten the mood during meetings. Additionally, backgrounds featuring courtroom settings or paradise murals can serve as unique conversation starters
[4:2]
[4:5].
Free Resources from Brands
Brands like Behr and West Elm offer free virtual backgrounds designed for Zoom, which can be particularly useful if you're looking for aesthetically pleasing options without spending money [5:5]. These backgrounds can help create a professional look, especially if your physical environment is less than ideal.
Personal Touches
Adding personal touches to your Zoom background can also make your calls more engaging. One user mentioned setting a rainforest background and placing their pet snake around their neck, which brightened the mood of their class [5:6]. This kind of personalization can make virtual interactions more memorable.
When selecting a Zoom background, consider the context of your meeting and choose something that aligns with your personality or the tone you wish to set. Whether opting for themed backgrounds, curated collections, or free resources, there's a wide variety of options to explore.
Hi folks, I've gathered some Zoom virtual backgrounds lately from a bunch of websites*—some animated, some static—to bring some joy to coworkers' and friends' days. You can find them shared here. I can't provide an open folder there because of potential abuse, but fell free to contribute with more sources here and I'll be adding them there over time.
*Thus I don't claim ownership or copyright over any of them. Caveat emptor.
I have a decent number of static images I have used. My company uses google, and the app I have can only do static. How would you like me to share them with you?
Thanks!! I've been collecting these too!
Here are mine: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1R9kIfGnK0XbvRkhwt8NDKrjQaN1Wl0gY
This is a great idea, thank you for sharing!
There's a great selection of premium Zoom backgrounds here: https://a.paddle.com/v2/click/111419/114413?link=2417

If I had gold it would be yours. Kudos for all the wonderful backgrounds! Edited for spelling
I have a picture, but I don’t know how to leave it here without using a link. I can’t find anything online, but someone posted here a while ago and I saved it.
are links illegal or something
Nah, I just can’t leave a link because I don’t have a link that leads to the wanted picture
There's an excellent troy/abed video here, some general Community ones here, here's one w/ Abed (if you sit in front of him, it's the empty room), and I'm currently trying to figure out where the empty study room scene from this excellent P+R intro (second 2) is from. I think there are a few good shots from S06E05 with sufficient space in the middle for a person at the end of the episode.
I've been playing around with adding a virtual background just for the hell of it. So when I log in and people see me I just might be at a strip club
You can put the courtroom of Royal Commission as background. That would be an awesome cosplay of Geoffrey Jackson.
Some post-apocalyptic scene with fire and ruined buildings and zombies and stuff would be cool.
What’s background vs you? Can you edit virtual meeting clothes over your PJs?
Nah. Shirtless and tie is formal enough
You should do one of the god awful paradise murals at the assembly halls. Extra creepy
Do it
Let's share your Zoom backgrounds you've used for online instruction and teaching. Feel free to also share your audience's reaction to your background(s)!
I was recently upgraded to the pro version of zoom. I googled the instructions on how to use backgrounds, but I can't figure it out. Any tips?
If you're using the app click the upwards facing arrow next to Start Video (whilst in a meeting), go to Video Settings, Click Virtual Background from the menu and select your background. You can add a new background by clicking the +.
Yes, and not only can you tick off green screen, you can keep it ticked but change the color it looks for by selecting a color from your background.
I taped a couple neon green poster boards together, attached them to poles, and attached them to my chair w a strap. I was determined to have a virtual background!
If you want, behr and west elm are offering free backgrounds for zoom... which is helpful because my apartment looks like shit!
Student here - I've taken to setting a rainforest as my background and placing my pet snake (a ball python) around my neck. Needless to say, it seems to brighten the mood of the class!
Here's mine
I'm so dumb, I can't even change it to these awesome stock photos.

The background should reflect a clean, modern, and professional environment with soft natural lighting and a calming neutral palette (greys, whites, warm woods). The center area must remain visually clean so the speaker stays in focus. Do not include any visible floors, desks, chairs, or foreground clutter.
Architectural, decorative, and stylistic choices are to be defined using the questions below.
Hello ,
Looking for the best backgrounds you all have come across. Whether they be screenshots or images, free or for purchase, all would be appreciated! The more memorable and unorthodox the better.
Thank you!
I actually had this problem myself working from home with three kids the background was always a mess so I started making my own backgrounds with my company logo. My clients noticed and wanted one for themselves so I made a website that turns your logo into a professional background https://www.brandwallpro.com
Pick your favourite: r/zoombackgrounds
If you amend the url to: https://www.redditp.com/r/zoombackgrounds/ you can flip through the images without the other stuff.
The trick is to change reddit to redditp in the URL. The rest stays the same.
this is so awesome do you have any more recommendations
ohh i like that one!
That is great! billionaires' row?
Made a folder myself of potential backgrounds. Then I find out the option doesn't work on my Chromebook.
Ah. Yup. Every semester when I have a new group of students, I tell them that regular PC laptops are a little more expensive than Chromebooks, but that you might as well spend the extra money because buying a Chromebook is just like throwing your money away if you already have a phone. It’s basically just a phone with a bigger screen and a keyboard. It doesn’t have enough functionality for most of the things you need to do in college (although, honestly, Zoom requires a little more power than even the basic PC, I think, to get virtual backgrounds working).
I need that BBC background. Anyone have a tutorial? It's genius.
I made it. Actually, I could just upload that video for people’s backgrounds, then you could go pop the link into viddit.red and it will let you download it, then you add video to your virtual backgrounds on Zoom and you’ve got it.
Even the viddit.red is way above my digital paygrade. I'm old and the metric system is a tool of the devil.
and again, you're a genius.
Kudos for your awesome zoom skills and humor
Thanks!
I like the laser background that just SCREAMS nineties school photo
The actual background
Right? I think the backgrounds are stupid. There is one guy who I have a weekly meeting with that has the most ridiculous backgrounds and 10 minutes of our meeting is always talking about it.
He sounds like a “high performing” dude
Saturns' Rings. I am an Astronomer though...
Interesting idea. I'll try something like that. Thanks!
Hiroshima aftermath.
A picture of myself so I can mute myself, leave, and no one will know
Best virtual backgrounds for Zoom
Key Considerations for Choosing Virtual Backgrounds for Zoom:
Professionalism: Select backgrounds that reflect a professional image, especially for work-related meetings. Neutral colors or simple office settings work well.
Clarity and Resolution: High-resolution images (at least 1920x1080 pixels) ensure that the background looks sharp and clear, avoiding pixelation.
Relevance: Choose backgrounds that are relevant to the meeting topic or your personal brand. For example, a library background for a book discussion or a nature scene for a wellness meeting.
Lighting and Contrast: Ensure the background contrasts well with your appearance. Avoid overly bright or busy backgrounds that can distract from your presence.
Personal Touch: Consider adding a personal element, like a favorite place or hobby, to make your virtual presence more relatable.
Recommendations for Virtual Backgrounds:
Professional Office Setting: A clean, modern office background conveys professionalism.
Nature Scenes: Calming landscapes, such as forests or beaches, can create a relaxed atmosphere.
Bookshelves: A virtual bookshelf can suggest knowledge and expertise, making it suitable for educational or professional settings.
Custom Backgrounds: Create a custom background that includes your logo or branding elements for a personalized touch.
Where to Find Backgrounds:
Tip: Test your chosen background before your meeting to ensure it looks good with your lighting and camera setup.
