Zoom filters can enhance your video calls by adding fun effects or improving your appearance. Here are some steps and considerations for using Zoom filters effectively:
Accessing Zoom Filters
To access Zoom filters, ensure you're using the latest version of the Zoom app, as older versions may not support this feature [1:3]. If you are using a browser version of Zoom, note that certain features like virtual backgrounds and filters might not be available
[3:2]. It's recommended to use the Zoom client (app) for full functionality.
Enabling Filters
Once in the Zoom app, go to the lower-left-hand corner of the screen during a call and find "Video Settings." From there, you can check the box marked “Touch Up My Appearance” to apply a subtle filter that smooths out your skin tone [2:1]. This feature is particularly popular for making users feel more confident during video calls
[2:2].
Device Compatibility
Your device's hardware can impact whether you can use Zoom filters. Some underpowered computers may not support advanced video options [1:3]. Make sure your computer meets the necessary specifications for running Zoom with all its features. If you encounter issues, try logging in with an email address, as some features might require account authentication
[1:1].
Troubleshooting Tips
If you can't access filters or virtual backgrounds, consider these troubleshooting tips:
By following these steps, you should be able to access and enjoy Zoom filters to enhance your video conferencing experience.
I am on the latest version ( 5.5.4) and I still don't have filters, anyone knows how to help?
What kind of computer and processor are you using?
Some underpowered computers don't get the new video options.
Sorry for the late reply, but I use a ThinkPad E480, Core i5 8250U processor
Log in with an email address.
I'll try that, thanks
I found this hilarious and awesome and thought it was worth a share. For everyone using Zoom, there's a "Touch Up My Appearance" filter so we can all look at least partially put together when answering video calls. From the article:

>Please do this immediately if you’re working from home and using the video conferencing service Zoom: Go to the lower-left-hand corner of the screen, find Video Settings, and check the box marked “Touch Up My Appearance.”
>
>The filter has the transformative effect of making it look you are wearing the tiniest bit of no-makeup-makeup, rather than full Kardashian spackle. Your face will look slightly more dewy, but not so much that your boss will suspect you’ve been spending all your time at home slathering on Good Genes instead of working. Your skin will look more even-toned and smooth. If your work-from-home setup is not properly lit, it helps with that too, subtly brightening both the overall picture and your dark eye circles.
>
>Unfortunately, the filter has limits and will not make it look like you’ve washed your hair or brushed your teeth. It also can’t make you look like you’re wearing a nice, work-appropriate sweater, rather than your pajamas. But you still don’t need to put on a bra or unnecessarily touch your face.
I accidentally discovered this the other day! Thanks for sharing, the article is hilarious.
Came here to say I just accidentally found it this morning! Too funny because I was not using video for my online classes either. Now I can feel a little more confident for my 8am classes.
I’m using zoom everyday for school. I saw they added video filters, and when I open the menu, there are no filters at all - just a “None” filter, which is the default. Same goes for virtual backgrounds, although I was able to use them a few months ago.
What device are you using PC, Mac or tablet, phone?
Couple thoughts include make sure you have the most recent version. If you have a school account, you may need to confirm that they have not restricted use of anything from an administration stand point. Try logging in on another device and see if the backgrounds etc show up.
And of course, reboot if you have not done that yet.
I'm using a Mac. I don't have any account - in fact Zoom says I'm not eligible to use Zoom (I'm 14) and yes, I keep updating it
The only way I could recreate the virtual backgrounds NOT working is to use the browser option. When I log out and use the client (the app) on my mac, the virtual backgrounds and filters show up. If I use the browser option on my mac (using chrome), the filters and backgrounds did not show up.
I have a mac. I will test it later today when I get home from work.
I know virtual backgrounds and filters are working on mac. But, I am logged in, so I will try it without logging in and see if there is a difference.
just got the avermedia pw313. works great! though i am wondering if i can get the filters and other settings to work with zoom
Hi kickpuncherman,
Do you mean you want to adjust the video quality? If you are using Windows 10 or macOS 10.15, you can install our CamEngine, you can see below the support page and video if answer your questions:
https://www.avermedia.com/us/PW313-Webcam-Support
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm4OhmOoPdXGP3svXCnG5DQ
If not, please let me know. Looking forward to hearing from you.
-DS.
Your comment about adjusting video quality for Zoom out Skype use false. Selecting the Camengine camera option in those apps results in a distorted image.
Zoom Player MAX and Zoom Player IPTV v21 release candidate 2 have been released.
Download Zoom Player MAX:
https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_beta.shtml
Download Zoom Player IPTV:
https://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_iptv_beta.shtml
Changes in this beta:
* New feature!
+ Changed feature!
- Fixed feature!
* New snap zones feature that allows you to instantly snap Zoom Player's
window to 10 predefined screen positions and sizes.
The snap zones feature uses a similar interface to the video position
presets used in fullscreen mode. In fact, they share the same Zoom Player
function and keyboard shortcuts.
There is no conflict as snap zones only work in windowed mode while video
position presets only work in fullscreen mode.
There are two ways to set snap zones. The advanced options dialog under
"Interface / Position & Size" or by using keyboard shortcuts. To use
keyboard shortcuts, first position and size Zoom Player's window and then
use the Ctrl+"0-9" keyboard shortcut to set one of the desired zones.
For example, Ctrl+"5" will set the current window size and position to
snap zone #5. To snap Zoom Player's window back to snap zone #5, all you
need to do is press the "5" key in Windowed mode.
* New Setting (Adv. Options / Playback / IPTV) that controls whether
the stream/program filtering works when pressing enter or when typing
in each key stroke.
The new default is to require pressing enter. On older PCs or some
laptops the experience of filtering on every key stroke was not optimal.
* New right-click context menu "Help" usage guide images for the Media
Server Browser and the new Modern UI control overlay.
+ Replaced the Audio mode button with an Options button in the Control
Overlay's title area.
+ Reduced CPU overhead when dragging Zoom Player's window with the
control overlay visible.
- Fixed an issue where the control overlay did not disappear automatically
after the specified time period.
- Fixed a bug after playing certain media files and then opening the
media library would open the media library in the wrong mode
(e.g. media scanner).
- Fixed an issue where partially downloaded IPTV metadata was used instead
of keeping the previously downloaded metadata, causing the IPTV stream
list to disappear or appear partially with no error being reported in
the IPTV settings section of the advanced options dialog.
- Fixed some DPI scaling issues on the "please upgrade" window.
- When fixing a unicode date issue with Japanese/Chinese languages in a
previous beta, I accidentally broke the IPTV EPG's date listing.

hello, I have zoom player IPTV, everything is ok, but there is a small problem, I can't see series. In IPTV smarters player I have a separate tab for movies and series, In zoom I don't see it. I have the series on Smarters, but I don't have it on Zoom IPTV. Can you help?
Hi,
I answered in the other thread you created:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ZoomPlayer/comments/1jht5on/iptv_series_and_movies/
Note 2:
Need icon for new Fullscreen Media Library Search feature in Late Sunset 4K
See: https://imgur.com/O8f9gsX
Sorry if you sent it before, but I may have missed the message as reddit is giving me errors/problems lately
The non-default skins will be updated with the new features 1-3 weeks after the initial release of v21, I don't have the resources to do it sooner.
Great!, try to message me or something when you do, please, but reddit hasn't been working reliably for me, so I might have to ask again later, thank you.
Note 3:
New Fullscreen/HomeTheater Media Library Search box/feature doesn't action when hitting the tick button or enter keyboard key after entering some text.
Only actions/applies after hitting refresh button, see:
https://imgur.com/YYVzY5C
Needs fixing.
That's enough beta testing from me for a bit, keep up the great work, and thanks
Are you sure about this one?
Did you try clicking it twice. The first time applies a search and the second time closes the dialog.
Same for the "X", the first click clears the search and the second click should close the dialog, is this not the case?
You should also be able to close the search dialog by clicking anywhere outside of it.
yep, just tried again and it's the same after a zp re-launch/re-start:
I didn't really play with the x/clear button well, but maybe can try tomorrow sometime
till then, all the best!
Notes:
Had ZPs Control Bar all setup and good in v20.
Installing this gave a double-up of new Control Overlay and Control Bar on top of each other, unfunctional setup.
Not good for v21 final release situation.
Need to ask enduser if want to switch? and give screenshots as demo when asking?
Need master control for switching in ZP settings.
Had to turn off all the "show control overlay when..." tick-box options in ZP settings to continue to use my previously setup Control Bar, my fav.
Thanks
I tried to reset the settings so only the control overlay is seen. Which setting was it that continued showing the control bar?
I can't do too many screens on start-up, there are already 2 and adding a third can be scary. I did create keyboard shortcuts for switching between the previous "Classic UI" and the new "Modern UI", but it only covers the default settings. If you enabled other control-bar showing settings, it will may work perfectly.
Ctrl+Shift+"F10" - Switch to Classic mode
Ctrl+Shift+"F11" - Switch to Modern mode
I get the "scary" and I understand what you tried to do re "settings inversion on install".
But maybe you simply need something like this in zp settings: "Use for controlling playback/timeline-seeking master switch = Control Bar (classic) or Control Overlay (new)", and a newer zp version install switches this master switch to Overlay.
...
Sorry, I use the control bar, so I only played with the settings to get rid of the overlay, but if I had to guess it was probably
"show control bar on mouse movement" ticked that kept control bar showing up after install
Thanks!, but your dl website still says millibits as mb, instead of megabytes as MB
I knos how to aim in the game, but how do these youtubers zoom? before someone saying "these are edited in the video" I thought that, too, but they're not, I saw other youtubers do that, too, and some of them were showing unedited gameplay of their gaming session
so please somebody tell me how if possible, please
and if someone said it's shift, that works for ironsight only and it doesn't zoom that much
ig control or shift does it
for marksman rifles, deploy the bipod
Well I hope no one bites and decides to share a method of cheating on this thread, but I respect the innocence of curiosity, if that be it
I was fooled, sorry I checked, they are inded video editing
Thanks for sharing ;)
Can you share the link for these vídeos?
Because I swear it looks like video editing.
forget it, I fooled myself and thought these are not by tge same youtuber, turbed out to be all made by slorgs
sorry
video editing. you can get a slight "zoom" on iron sights and red dots by holding shift but that's it. Everything else is video editing.
When did that start? I don't remember that.
When did what start
oh.... well, thank you for telling me
Monitors are a very big and real advantage that the average player will not likely have in any FPS game. Im not talking about framerates but just sheer screen size.
Play in a bigger monitor and you will immediately see things you cant normally see in your smaller one.
However dont mistake it as an end all be all advantage - it is really only marginal in the grand scheme of things since veteran players will still play relatively well in smaller monitors. Its the experience that tells you where exactly to look. Even with a bigger monitor, if you dont know where you should be looking - you wont be getting better at any FPS game.
In a game especially as old as PR, you can definitely predict what enemy players are going to do even intuitively. You can have this almost sixth sense feeling that there is definitely an enemy there even when you cant actually see them.
>a game especially as old as PR, you can definitely predict what enemy players are going to do even intuitively. You can have this almost sixth sense feeling that there is definitely an enemy there even when you cant actually see them.
sadly that won't wor for me as I actually just knew about the game a few days ago and came in I'm almost turning 18
Hello all! Got a set of flash filters like the picture and I am currently experimenting. Got a few test shots but I can't think of many scenarios to use them in. So, I thought before finishing the roll I could get some advice. Do you have any suggestions on how and when to use these? Would they work under good light conditions or should I mainly use them under dark. Also, would they affect the power of the flash and should I have a wider aperture than usual?
Like all things analog these days… use your digital camera to get a feel for this maybe? Some of the yellow ones are likely useful to colour correct your flash to be closer to ambient light. Those you could use on camera. The more extreme ones are fun to use with a radio controlled flash, to change the look of your scene.
Look up ‘strobist’ online and you’ll find plenty of examples.
But as a first foray into this on analog… make super accurate notes of your scene and flash power. Otherwise you’ll have no idea what you did and how to improve.
Thanks for the comment, I'll certainly look it up! I am afraid I don't have a digital camera however I tried a few shots with my phone and noticed that it significantly reduces the flash power so I'll make sure to overexposure at least a stop until I find the best fit!
I used to make kits like this for my flashes. Late 90s news was film and you never knew what lighting you’d be under, and editorial used pretty intense colors so you could jazz up a scene by popping some color in it.
I would buy or sometimes find free a demo book of lighting gels and cut them down to size plus a little tab. Then 2 small holes on either side of the front bezel just in front of the flash’s fresnel lens. A tiny tread (dental floss, fishing line) through creates 2 string gates to hold the gel in place. Flip down wide lens and Omnibounce all worked fine with it. Then I’d make a gaffer’s tape pocket on the top of the flash to hold the gels.
I feel both old and comforted by this memory
The most common use for one would be to warm on camera flash to match warm ambient light.
Colors I'd leave for off camera flash to add color coming from an angle, splashing a background, or a rim light.
They will have varying degree of effect on the flash power, which should be noted by the manufacturer. If you're using a thyristor or TTL flash, it should compensate on its own but understand that the maximum range of your flash is reduced. Also make sure it doesn't bounce any light back into the thyristor sensor or it will cut the flash early and severely underexpose.
I don't work with flash enough to have used flash gels, but I know you can do some creative lighting especially with off-camera flash.
I have a Tumax 116 which is quite primitive I can say. Thank you for the comment!
"To access the filter, all you have to do is you open it up, click on the gear icon in the top right and go to the video tab. From there, you'll see yourself through your webcam and there will be an option to 'touch up my appearance'."
I was on a zoom hangout with some friends and they were talking about how you could use the “soften” feature and change your background. I couldn’t find the settings on the app on my iPad but one friend changed her settings and looked (more like) Brit circa 1999.
I wasn’t aware there was a filter on vipkid?
When you are in the classroom, you will see three buttons on the right side. One is for blush, one is for softening, and one is for dark vs light classroom.
a filter for VIP kid? Are you trying to impress the children?
Where is the filter for V IP kids?.. I don't really understand filters at all… lol… however I do have to say the picture on the left is much more appealing than the one on the right haha
It makes the poor lighting less noticeable before sunrise.
No I'm just a narcissist
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Apparently zoom does have a filter option! Sadly I haven’t been able to figure it out.
Go to settings-video-my video-touch up my appearance It was the first thing I looked for before teaching with it lol
New classroom Vs old classroom (no filter). I always take a deep breath before I open my camera whenever I’m switched to the old classroom.
there's a field for "other tags to include/exclude", you can just write the tag you want there
No is not that, sorry I meant shortening it to only show the first 10 tags and hide the rest with a scroller.
If you start typing in the Other tags to exclude box you'll get suggestions
You can also do something like "-fluff" in the Search within results box. Tap the "?" by the box for more tips
