What Redditors are Saying

Best Weapons for Hunters in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

TL;DR

  • Exotic Options: Queenbreaker, Rat King, Graviton Lance
  • Legendary Options: The Call, Khvostov, Midnight Coup
  • General Tips: Focus on weapons with good synergy with your build and subclass.

Exotic Weapons

The Queenbreaker is highlighted as a top DPS weapon this season, especially when used with its catalyst and the three-burst mode [1]. It benefits from particle reconstruction, making it a strong choice for high damage output [1:2]. Another exotic worth considering is the Rat King, which is noted for its effectiveness in both Crucible and PvE content due to its unique mechanics [3:2]. Graviton Lance is also mentioned as a powerful option, particularly effective in current meta [2:10].

Legendary Weapons

For legendary options, "The Call" is recommended as a versatile Strand sidearm that fits well in kinetic slots [2:1]. The Khvostov, available in both legendary and exotic versions, offers customization and is highly recommended [2:1]. Additionally, Midnight Coup is suggested for its excellent hand cannon performance [2:3].

Weapon Synergy and Builds

When selecting weapons, it's important to consider how they synergize with your Hunter build and subclass. For instance, the Queenbreaker pairs well with Void invisibility, enhancing its utility in various scenarios [1:6]. Additionally, focusing on weapons that complement your playstyle and the specific activities you engage in can greatly enhance your effectiveness. For example, combining The Call or Sunshot with Edge Transit or Pro Memoria provides a balanced loadout for standard PvE content [2:7].

PvE and PvP Considerations

In PvE, having a reliable heavy weapon like Gjallarhorn or crafting a Promemoria with recon/bait and switch can be crucial for dealing with bosses and large groups of enemies [2:4]. For PvP, weapons like Ace of Spades and Last Word are often cited as top choices due to their consistent performance and ease of use [5:2].

Final Thoughts

Ultimately, the best weapons for a Hunter will depend on personal preference and playstyle. Experimenting with different combinations and paying attention to how each weapon feels during gameplay can help you find the perfect setup. Keep an eye on seasonal changes and buffs, as these can significantly impact weapon viability and effectiveness.

Yes, the 3 round burst with particle reconstruct is fantastic

I got the catalyst and unlocked it, but I’m not sure how it works exactly?

Could anyone give some tips on the best way to use it? I’ve been putting it on the single-burst and it definitely shreds, but I feel like I’m missing something lol

Use the 3 round burst. Particle deconstruct on the artifact stacks up to 5x. Each pellet of Burt's adds +1 to the debuff

Only use the single shot for sniping / blinding a group of ads at range

Everybody said, " you gotta get it. " So i did. Some of you might like to know its like a fusion sniper rifle. Shoots in paused bursts. If i had known this i would not have wasted my strange coins on it. Its only as good as i will use it.

Final Shape, what weapons should I be using?

Posted by RedHawwk · in r/DestinyTheGame · 1 year ago

Returning player, I got the Still Hunt on hunter with celestial hawk but for everything else I just have no clue what to use. Every time I come back I go through this struggle, the amount of weapons and methods to acquire them is just totally overwhelming.

I typically just use whatever legendary primary and heavy I have picked up. Anytime I look up videos on best weapons or highest dps they’re all exotics.

What are a handful of good legendaries I should focus on getting? Anything from the arena breach? Or even exotics, are there any must haves?

For just standard PVE, The Call / Sunshot or Graviton / Edge Transit or Pro Memoria is a great all round combo.

What about for more advanced PvE?

I often feel like a dead weight in Nightfalls, Dungeons, Raids. Maybe the questions is more complex than “what gun?”. I know there are builds like the Still Hawk which go over super build, gear, and dps boss weapon but they don’t really go into the primary or heavy you pair with it.

I would aim for this:

The Call  Your choice of a kinetic

Then for heavies: Craft a promemoria with recon/bait and switch

Farm onslaught for edge transit with a good roll, look online

Keep an eye out on crux termination for good rolls, it's a world drop, or use gjallahorn

My list is not exhaustive, but rather covers the vast majority of situations and necessary components of loadouts. There are some weapons which are side-grades or work for specific strategies not listed below. (Ex. Cataphract is a sidegrade to edge transit, but strand). Here’s my list:

Rocket sidearms The Call - TFS destination Indebted Kindness - warlords ruin dungeon

Auto Rifles Khvostov - TFS quest (also has an exotic version) Rufus’ fury - Root Of Nightmares raid No Hesitation - TFS destination

Hand cannons Midnight Coup - onslaught Fatebringer - vault of glass raid Zaouli’s bane - kings fall raid Sun shot - exotic Malfeasance - exotic Wardens law - nightfalls (only needed if you’re a hunter) Ace of spades - exotic Thorn - exotic

Pulse rifles Blast furnace - onslaught Nullify - Salvation’s edge raid Outbreak perfected - exotic (zero hour mission)

SMGs Riskrunner - exotic Calus mini tool - season of the haunted/ banshee Submission - vow of the disciple raid

Sidearms Forerunner - exotic Drang - season of the haunted/ banshee

Scout rifles Hung Jury - onslaught

Bow Trinity ghoul - exotic No denouement - salvations edge raid Leviathans breath - exotic

Sniper rifles Supremacy - last wish raid Succession - deep stone crypt raid Izanagis burden - exotic Still hunt - TFS quest exotic Whisper of the worm - exotic (whisper mission)

Shotguns Heritage - deep stone crypt raid Conditional finality - root of nightmares exotic Ikelos SG - season do the seraph / banshee Tractor cannon - exotic

Trace rifles Agers Scepter - exotic Appetence - season of the wish / banshee Acasias deception - root of nightmares raid

Fusion rifles Riptide - crucible Cartesian coordinate - world drop/ banshee Bastion - exotic

Swords Ergo sum - exotic sword from TFS The other half - eager edge sword from 30th anniversary pack Falling guillotine - onslaught Lament - beyond light exotic

Grenade launchers Mountaintop - onslaught Forbearance - onslaught/ vow of the disciple raid Witherhoard - exotic Edge transit - onslaught

Machine guns Commemoration - deep stone crypt raid Xenophage - shadowkeep dungeon exotic THUNDERLORD - exotic

Linear fusion rifles Euphony - Salvation’s edge exotic Briars contempt - root of nightmares raid Cataclysmic - vow of the disciple raid Arbalest - exotic

Rocket launcher Apex predator - last wish raid Gjallarhorn - 30th anniversary

Hope this helps.

No prob. If you’re looking for general loot, my suggestion is to start with onslaught as there’s a lot of good loot there. Then move onto TFS destination weapons. Then try and get some raid weapons. Deep Stone Crypt and Root of Nightmares are the easiest raids to do and both have plenty of good loot. Then go for the Vow and Salvation’s Edge when you’ve got a bigger arsenal.

The Call is fantastic. It’s a strand sidearm that shoots grenades. It goes in the kinetic slot. Once you get one, you will see why. The Khvostov legendary and exotic are both great as well. The legendary is very customizable. They both take some work to get but I highly recommend acquiring them.

I feel like a lot of my time spent in this game is trying to find weapons that just feel good. It’s not weapons that are necessarily optimal, but they just click with you.

Weapons I clicked with are Death Adder and the now sunset Trophy Hunter. What are your weapons?

I got a subsistence/golden tricorn roll that's pretty good. I'd never actually tried rapid-fire shotguns until this one came out and when I did it was a bit of a mindblower, had no idea we had full-auto super fast firing shotguns.

I found it existed yesterday and I have to say it reminds me of the Black Armory weapons with how it sounds. Nice and chunky sounding and it's a rapid fire frame like the IKELOS SG plus it's arc too. Arc 3.0 around the corner I hope there is something good for arc weapons. : )

Discussion - What’s your IB Chase?

Posted by WFJohnRage · in r/CrucibleGuidebook · 6 months ago

Having pretty much gotten every IB weapon roll I wanted over the past season/episodes. I was just curious what everyone else is grinding. Any off meta or “sleeper” rolls that don’t get a lot of discussion? I figured it could help players with a ton of engrams that have already gotten there 5/5s in the final shape.

I’m personally looking for a strategist / slice Guiding Sight. Main reasons that I play warlock and the rift cool down is a bit longer than most other classes and the second reason was that I was absolutely getting my butt handed to me a few weeks ago by a player using it in comp. I felt like I was “severed” the entire match.

I feel stupid. I got a slide/adagio crimils a few days ago and broke up down because I thought adagio sounded stupid on a 120 HC. I thought everyone was going for a precision instrument one.

1 upvotes on reddit
detonater700 · 6 months ago

PI is also a popular choice, adagio is just better imo on 120s however since it turns it into a 2 tap (does the perfect amount of damage where it just about doesn’t break shield on the first hit too so people often don’t realise the next shot will kill). Even ignoring the 2 taps, for team shot purposes doing 120dmg on a crit with a HC is insane. It also allows you to headshot melee for a fast CQC kill. The snowball potential is just crazy too, it lasts for 9seconds enhanced IIRC. It can be helpful especially when you’re trying to do a bit of a carry when paired with OEM for example, winning a duel can give you a 2 tap + over shield which makes the next fight (even if it’s peek shooting against 2 people) quite winnable indeed.

It's always been amazing, but now you have 12 shots, which is really good. Also the damage fall off nerfed the other hand cannons, but the explosive rounds damage never falls off. So it inadvertently got a little buff.

I'm new to Destiny 2, only been playing for about over 2 months now, absolutely enjoying myself. Just thought I'd throw up a picture of where I'm at with my new Hunter build. Any recommendations on weapon choices and armor? I am really enjoying the Third Iteration, especially with the catalyst equipped. I'm not sure where to go from here, I have yet to finish The Edge of Fate, but I am almost finished everything up until The Finale Shape. I just need to finish a few things in that DLC then its on the The Edge of Fate! Let me know what you think of my Hunter!

As a hunter main not too shabby, but for solar hunter that exotic chest isn’t too shabby but id recommend shards of galanar, atheras embrace, celestial nighthawk, or star eaters scales just as other options for solar hunters. also id recommend not focusing on the health stat as it doesn’t increase your health just how much orbs heal you id put more into super and weapons cus extra damage is always helpful. otherwise youre doing good if you ever want help with anything you can hit me up i dont mind teaching anything, bungie name is Toxicdev#1028

Well dlc and story wise, The witch Queen was awesome! Build whatever you like or feels good! Maybe a build for each subclass is another goal? Maybe just 1 at a time?

Invisible void hunter? Mc'splosion gunpowder gamble throwin bomber boy? The darkness subclasses are fun too, but behind dlc stories, so just get em if there's a sale.

I got an ice titan whose sole job is frost armor from the ice fridge unit looking arms and ice everywhere for frost armor galore!

I dunno you can hunt down what weapons and exotic armor you want to make a fun build with, then fashion it up til it's something you love and enjoy.

Also the other classes eventually, I main titan, 2nd is my hunter, and my sad warlock is third, you can find something fun in each of them though! (Besides the warlock jump, I am ashamed to say I'm horrible with it :(

Weapons to farm before Final Shape

I already unlocked all seasonal patterns, but are there any good weapons that I should farm that are easier to get right now? Specifically, I was think of the reprised reckoning weapons from season of the deep or red war weapons from witch, but any weapon recommendations with fun perk combos is appreciated

I usually will only use the weapons that I get to drop during the campaign but starting loadout will be Midnite Coup with firefly + one for all (if I can get one to drop), Indebted Kindness with beacon rounds + voltshot, and Parasite. Guna start with arc titan with Cannon Brace. But I’ve got a full legendary set ready for when I get a solid exotic class item.

Really depends on what gets changed or buffed, what kind of champs we might have to deal with.

My gut response is le Monarque for gyrfalcons because it makes soloing content much easier and has great damage output. Being able to disappear and reposition when playing new content is a godsend.

Then there’s my trusty quicksilver/suspend strand warlock that has amazing damage and CC and lets me bring my volt shot indebted kindness which has proven to be one of the most clutch weapons in the game.

Finally there’s Titan. Lately been running a devour/banner build with old sterling and buried bloodline. You get banner going, threadlings for damage. Buried gives you devour and weaken for harder enemies. Pair with abeyant leap for more CC.

Really excited to run through the campaign on legend with these builds and tweak as needed.

Best weapons for hunters in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Key Considerations for Hunter Weapons in Destiny 2: The Final Shape

  1. Weapon Types: Hunters benefit from a mix of weapon types, including hand cannons, sniper rifles, and bows. Each type has its strengths depending on your playstyle.

  2. Exotic Weapons: Consider using exotic weapons that complement the Hunter's agility and playstyle. Some popular choices include:

    • Ace of Spades: A powerful hand cannon with high damage and a unique perk that enhances precision shots.
    • The Last Word: Great for close-range combat with its fast fire rate and hip-fire accuracy.
    • Succession (if available): A sniper rifle that can deal significant damage and is effective for long-range engagements.
  3. Legendary Weapons: Look for legendary weapons with perks that enhance your playstyle. Some recommended options include:

    • Fatebringer (Hand Cannon): Known for its versatility and damage output.
    • Trust (Hand Cannon): Offers a good balance of stability and damage.
    • Succession (Sniper Rifle): Excellent for precision shots and can be a game-changer in PvP.
  4. Modifications: Utilize weapon mods to enhance your weapons further. Mods that increase reload speed, stability, or damage can significantly improve performance.

  5. Activity Type: Consider the activities you'll be participating in (PvE vs. PvP) and choose weapons that suit those environments. For example, hand cannons are often favored in PvP, while sniper rifles can excel in PvE boss fights.

Recommendation: For a balanced loadout, consider pairing Ace of Spades with a sniper rifle like Fatebringer for versatility in both PvE and PvP. Additionally, keep an eye on seasonal weapons introduced in the latest expansions, as they may offer unique perks that can enhance your gameplay.
