Best Weapons to Use in Hades

TL;DR

  • Chiron Bow: Great for quick kills and safe distance [1:2].
  • Shield of Chaos: Versatile with blocking ability, good for beginners [1:2].
  • Twin Fists: High synergy with boons and powerful upgrades [1:2].

Heart-Seeking Bow

The Heart-Seeking Bow, particularly with the Chiron aspect, is frequently mentioned as a top choice. It allows players to maintain a safe distance while dealing significant damage. The Chiron aspect is noted for its power and utility, especially in early runs, though some players find it less effective at higher heat levels due to its clunkiness [1:1][1:3]. Other aspects like Hera and Rama are also recommended for speed and high heat runs respectively [4:1].

Shield of Chaos

The Shield of Chaos is another popular weapon, praised for its versatility and defensive capabilities. The Zeus aspect, in particular, is highlighted for its effectiveness [1:5]. The shield's ability to block attacks makes it a great option for beginners, and its various aspects allow for different playstyles, from aggressive to defensive [1:2].

Twin Fists of Malphon

The Twin Fists are favored for their fast-paced combat style and strong synergy with boons. The Demeter aspect is particularly noted for its power, making it a favorite among players who prefer close combat [3:1][3:2]. The fists are often chosen for quick runs and are considered one of the most fun weapons to use due to their dynamic gameplay [1:6].

Spear and Rail

The spear, especially with the Achilles aspect, is another weapon that players enjoy due to its reach and balanced stats [3]. The Adamant Rail, with aspects like Eris and Hestia, is recommended for both speed and high heat runs, offering a unique ranged combat experience [4:1].

Playstyle and Preferences

Ultimately, the best weapon often depends on personal playstyle and preferences. Some players prioritize weapons that "cheat" damage calculations, like those with multi-hit capabilities [4:3]. Others suggest focusing on weapons that align with your preferred combat loop and experimenting with different aspects to find what works best for you [2:2].

I say Bow over all first because of the aspect of chiron- its really powerfull and gets you quick kills at early skill. And it keeps you at a safe distance!

Then shield, zags and zues aspects are good, this weapon also comes with the added bonus of blocking for newbies in the game! And younjust feel so cool dashing around and chucking your shield like captain america!

Finally the fists, they have amazing synergy with most of the boon givers and its dadelous hammer upgrades make the weapon disgustingly powerfull, lile the reach or stacking damage stuff. However this weapon can be kinda hard to utilize it the best without dying.

On thenother weapons, i hate the spear because its so slow and really doesnt do any decent damage, also all its aspects are " bad"- the sword is like the fists but slower.- and the adamanet rail is the bow but you have to reload, shorter range, and it doesnt knock back enemies... except the hidden aspect is kinda good.

Chiron falls off hard the more you play, honestly. It's super clunky to use when you have Benefits Package, Forced Overtime, Damage Control, and Jury Summons turned up. I honestly sometimes feel like Zag Bow might be better sometimes simply bc you don't have to also use the Special. Rama's Special is great bc it's fast, does a good amount of damage, its usefulness is not inexorably linked to the Attack, and is great for crowd control. It doesn't just focus on single target damage, but that can be great too if you have good Hammers and/or big Attack boon(s). Rama is easily better than Chiron, and these days I find Hera to be too.

I will agree that if you're playing on lower Heat (like 10-20 or so), Chiron can be really strong and a lot of fun to use. It just doesn't feel that way as much as you raise the Heat more.

Well yeah if you have Damage Control it’s going to really hamper its effectiveness. But I think Chiron is the best aspect. It’s the only weapon I’ve beat heat 32 with, and it is by far the most clears overall for me.

1 Heart Seeking Bow

2 Shield of Chaos

3 Twin Fists

The first time I cleared the game was with the shield. I definitely have more fun with the bow though, and the fists are great for when I wanna go fast

Ranking's pretty much the same for me, although shield of chaos is only in spot #2 for me because of the existence of Zeus aspect.

While bow is perfect in all of its aspects.

Hades's 2 weapons

i don't know if i'm the only one, but i'm having a hard time connecting to half the weapon roster i just don't get the skull, the torches and the coat. I love the sister blades, the staff and the axe, but i just don't get the others, what the combat loop for them looks like, what boons would work with them. wanted to know if i'm alone in this or not, or get some pointers.

Very briefly:

Torches you Omega special, then hold attack. It’s not a ranged weapon get in baddies’ faces. You can cast and dash while attacking so dance around to not get hit. Anything works on attack/special but Hera/Zeus is probably optimal. The “Clean” hammers are best. Moros plays the same but you really prefer a +% attack and it’s insanely strong. Eos the loop is the other way: Omega attack, then O special and spam specials. Triple Comet is fun here.

Skulls mash attack, as close as you are comfortable. When you’re empty, tap special to retrieve the ammo. Honestly that’s it. Hera or Apollo are good on attack. You can O special to safely gather your skulls but I’ve found that less necessary this patch. You want Huntress arcana. Possessed Array is the best hammer but you need a ton of magick. Fetching lets you machine gun skulls so that’s nice. Medea you attack then special through to pop it, back and forth. You want Zeus special and a percent attack. Persephone O cast to build the gauge then O special to mop up. You can steer during the O special and you’re invulnerable. Twisting Crash is excellent, or you can do good things with Wide Grin.

Mel/Nyx coats the base combo is special attack attack but hammers or boons might effect the balance. Any combo of Ares, Poseidon, Hera, Zeus, Hestia on attack/special should be fine. Exhaust Riser Hammer makes your dash-strike hit 6x so run towards Poseidon or Hestia or Static Shock if that shows up. The O attack blocks, which is handy. Shimmering and Ripper Rockets are the best hammers. Selene start the moon beam keepsake to power up your hex immediately. Alternate Omegas to torch magick and light it up. Can either do big percentages on attack/special with Night, or Origination and statuses to power up the space lasers.

The coat has increased sprint speed by default and very solid damage output from the special. Generally I just run around really fast and spam omega specials while occasionally dashing in and using my cast (or melee to apply blitz/Hephaestus/wound if I have them). Generally I have found the block too slow/awkward to use to really be useful but with the +100 power hammer it can do pretty solid damage especially with Aphrodite on the attack.

If it's an especially difficult fight I try to keep my distance and just spam specials until everything dies.

I struggled with them as well, took a while to get a handle on any of them. Now I'm fine using all except the torches and coat. They're definitely less straightforward than weapons from the first game, but I've come to appreciate the depth. The Melinoe skulls at least function like the gun in the first game with the rocket hammer, plus the shield dash on special. Had my first win using them with Zeus chain lightning boons and the hammers that give you more skulls, and auto recollect.

So I think it's all very playstyle based.

There is no meta, unless you're interested in speed running, I guess. The best weapons and aspects are whichever ones you personally enjoy using.

1 upvotes on reddit
AdIll3932 · 1 year ago

i honestly think that the best weapons are the ones that "cheat" damage calculation, so basically the multi hit stuff(Demeter Fist/Chaos Shield/Chiron Bow) because it is a X times boost in a game of additive percentages, but you have to maybe build around it with flat damge boons( Zeus/Ares/Dio) and hope you also get some %boosts to damage with maybe chaos, ares %boost on all attacks, dio %boost on fountains and zeus %boosts on calls. So as you can see that's a lotta work for maybe not very efficient especially because luck is involved.

fuck all that, just put artemis attack on Arthur Sword and crit in the thousands

ALSO speaking of math, artemis special on the multi hit weapons is basically a guaranteed crit (20% chance to crit on 6 attacks[8 on bow])

It's a good starter weapon due to ease of use (it's bow but most damage doesn't really need aiming, and has good distance), but it falls off a cliff when decently optimized and up against the other decently optimized aspects in ability to handle high heat and speedrun.

The first three links should be what you need to get past Redacted. The rest are for after you beat him and unlock the pact of punishment.

Leereamsnyder’s Hades 1 Build Guide!

Widely considered the Hades 1 Bible(jokingly but for good reasons). It is one of, if not the best Hades 1 guide out there.

Here is an old comment of mine going over the mirror options and my opinion on them in extensive detail.

YT: Haelian’s O to 32 Heat Guide. This video explains the Pact Of Punishment, really well in the first few minutes of the video.

It's really nice. It will initially reduce all damage you take by 20%. Then, each time you die, it will increase the damage reduction by 2%. So if you die 5 times, you will have 30% damage reduction, etc. And you can turn it on and off at will in the menu without losing your "progression".

Your health is a resource, don’t be afraid to use it.

Consider the number of hits per button press. The more hits that come out, the more effective on-hit damage effects are (like Poseidon on the bow’s special, or Zeus attack on the rail). Attacks that have a higher base damage benefit more from percentage based increases. Like the shield’s charged attack, for instance. Put Aphrodite on the shield’s attack and it will almost single handedly carry you through the first three areas.

Also on the shield - you can predict REDACTED’s attacks are going to come because there’s always a buffer between when he ends an attack and when he selects a new one. You can hold attack with the shield to block, fully mitigating the damage, then use the window of opportunity to nail some damage.

Artemis has synergy with damn near every single other god, so if you are getting to Elysium and haven’t seen her yet, swap to her trinket at the end of asphodel and pick up some of her boons. Pressure Points specifically can be difference maker, as critical hits do TRIPLE damage.

If you aren’t certain about weapons, give the Rail a try. Zeus or Poseidon on attack, Artemis on special, Dionysus on cast for the stun. Lob bombs and if you get any hammers, look for rocket bomb and spread bomb. Those two go crazy together.

And don’t be afraid to change up your keybinds to make the game more ergonomic to play - I play on my keyboard and mouse on computer and moved my cast button and it made the game a much more pleasant experience.

Hope you get it! Good luck!

I love the rail. Especially aspect of Lucifer. My main build for it is; lightning strike, static discharge, support fire, chain lightning, Artemis’ aid, cold fusion, concentrated beam, and piercing fire. It just melts everything in its path. On the other hand though, I hate the spear and shield. They are such a pain to use and I just don’t like how they handle.

Spear is the perfect weapon for me, it’s so extremely versatile. Long range attacks, short range, instant movement(with Achilles’ aspect) and it’s extremely amazing all around. Most of its upgrades are amazing, especially flurry jab. Although I’ve never been able to utilise spinning attack fully. It’s too slow. My second favourites are the fists, I have my fastest runs with those. Just dash attack constantly, moving from one end of the map to the other non stop. With Hermes feather and the Zagreus aspect, I don’t fear just anything.

3 upvotes on reddit
floryan23 · 2 years ago

I use the spear's aspect of Hades a lot, and that one is essentially all about spinning. At Legendary level, hitting an enemy with its spin attack makes them take +150% more attack and special damage. Luckily the spin does not need to be fully charged for that, meaning spinning is low risk and high reward with that aspect.

While charging up the spin fully does take long, you can shorten the time it takes to charge fully or make the spin bigger with an additional +125% damage bonus with hammer upgrades, which both have a similar effect. Good thing is, the charge time is not an issue if you charge it while enemies are spawning in. Whenever a new wave of enemies is about to spawn, I look where the sigils on the floor appear, quickly dash to that spot and start charging my spin. As soon as they spawn, they immediately get hit with damage in the hundreds (amplified also by a +75% damage bonus from the mirror) while subsequently being weaker to my attack due to the spin's effect. In both regular chambers and boss battles I like to hide behind barriers to load up my spin, so enemies don't target me so quickly and then release the spin as soon as they get close enough.

Getting both the quick spin and the big spin hammers in one run is basically a jackpot, however either one of them may be replaced by the spin hammer that makes you Sturdy if you struggle to charge up the spin without getting hit during it. The spear's special is usually useless in runs like this, but if you're unlucky with hammers, the special can come in useful. You could combine Aphrodite's or Ares' special with the special hammer upgrade that makes the special go between 7 enemies like a chain lightning or with the upgrade that changes the special into an exploding shot dealing 50 base damage. Here the special damage is largely irrelevant, it's more about the added effects. If you're lucky, you could exit Tartarus with Aphrodite's special/dash, Artemis' attack (which makes crit damage from the spin easily hit 500) and their duo and then haul ass in Asphodel. An honorable mention is also Dionysus' attack with Aphrodite's special/dash (and perhaps their duo and Dionysus' call later on), which also benefits from +40% extra damage from the mirror due to Weak and Hangover being applied at the same time.

In my opinion Melee is quite risky on higher heats, so investing in a cast may be useful there as well.

Are Hades I weapons better than Hades II?

Posted by hikmaet · in r/HadesTheGame · 7 months ago

Is it just me or the first game had weapons that are more fun to use and their aspects offer more options?

For context , I have clocked 100+ hrs in first and 200+ hrs in second game.

In Hades I, I am enjoying every weapon maybe except the rail, I can scale the damage up and get a decent build. I think Rail is also good but I just haven’t played it enough.

In Hades II however, I only ever play with the Axe (by a mile) , Blades and the Staff( in this order). I never finished a run with Skulls or the Coat, played the torches a bit very early in EA ( few patches ago). I just don’t seem to find a way to make the other weapons good if it makes sense. Even with weapons I enjoy, I only ever use 1 aspect ( Pan and Momus), except the Axe.

I am wondering if others also feel this way? I think Hades I had more classical weapons ( Sword, Bow, Spear and Shield - straight outta ancient Greece) and much more divers aspects ( Cast-linked aspects are so much fun).

Maybe the hidden aspects will save it for me.

I think at this point I would take the H2 weapons, overall. I would take the axe and daggers over anything from H1 except maybe the bow. The skulls feel a lot better with the latest update. The torches, staff, and mech suit all have an aspect or two that I have fun using.

That being said, the hidden aspects will obviously have a big impact on the outlook of each weapon and there is still more balancing to be done. If they can make some aspects feel more impactful and really flesh out the hammer upgrades, then I think this weapon set could easily clear the H1 set in total.

One thing i’d keep in mind is we don’t have the hidden aspects yet in 2, and those were the ones that really radically changed how weapons worked in 1.

Nah, I’m with you. I’m basically the same on which weapons I use, order and everything, the only difference being that I don’t have any of the non-Meli aspects unlocked. And I don’t have the coat yet. But I agree that the aspects (and the weapons in general) feel a bit less than Hades I. I can enjoy the skull, but the only serious run that I’ve played with it was a bit of a brawler build, running into enemies and hitting them with skulls from a close range (I had the Hammer upgrade that made them explode on return). It might just be that I prefer melee weapons though; I always have. That’s why I’m on heat 10 with Stygius in Hades I and 7 with the gauntlets and rest are under five.

Also, total side note, I miss the blocking special on the axe :(

The spear is my go to. Love the recall on the special for the backstabs.

If you get the “hit multiple targets” boon you can really start melting through rooms

Hestia! I just love reloading, especially after remapping the reload trigger. Stacking crits on it is great fun.

New player here. Farthest I've gotten (4th level) was with the shield. Shield throw with lightning and jolt was pretty strong. The spear is great to.

Love any aspect of the gloves for their fast pace and because it's fun to punch monsters.

Love any aspect of the bow because you need a bit more strategy and placement to not be overwhelmed.

Really like the hidden form of the sword because it really feel like you're handling a legendary weapon and it's so satisfying.

The others are fine with me to switch up a bit and challenging myself. I thought the gun was pretty weak but it reveals an incredible weapon with a bit of updates and the right boosts.

Team Malphon all day. When I finish an encounter, my hands better be feeling the early onset of arthritis...

Arthritis, never heard of him. What are his best boons? ;) So I unlock him playing 100s of hours with fists?

best weapons to use in Hades

Key Considerations for Weapons in Hades

  1. Weapon Types: Hades features six primary weapons (called Infernal Arms), each with unique playstyles:

    • Stygian Blade: Balanced melee weapon, great for beginners.
    • Heart-Seeking Bow: Excellent for ranged attacks and critical hits.
    • Shield of Chaos: Offers both offense and defense, with a unique block mechanic.
    • Twin Fists of Malphon: Fast-paced melee weapon, ideal for aggressive play.
    • Eternal Spear: Versatile with long-range capabilities and a powerful throw.
    • Railgun (Exagryph): High damage output with a unique charge mechanic.
  2. Aspect Upgrades: Each weapon has different aspects that can significantly change their abilities. Experiment with these to find the one that suits your playstyle:

    • Aspect of Zagreus: Basic version, good for beginners.
    • Aspect of Poseidon (for the spear): Adds a powerful throw ability.
    • Aspect of Demeter (for the railgun): Increases damage and adds a special attack.
  3. Boons Synergy: The effectiveness of a weapon can be greatly enhanced by the boons you choose from the gods. Look for synergies that complement your weapon's strengths:

    • For example, pairing the Heart-Seeking Bow with Artemis' critical hit boons can lead to devastating damage.
  4. Playstyle Preference: Choose a weapon that matches your preferred playstyle:

    • If you enjoy fast-paced combat, the Twin Fists are ideal.
    • If you prefer a more strategic approach, the Shield of Chaos or the Bow might be better suited.

Recommendation:

  • Best Overall Weapon: The Stygian Blade is often recommended for its versatility and ease of use, making it great for beginners while still being effective for experienced players.
  • Best for Damage: The Heart-Seeking Bow with Artemis boons can deal massive damage, especially with critical hits.
  • Best for Defense: The Shield of Chaos allows for both offense and defense, making it a solid choice for players who want to mitigate damage while attacking.

Experiment with different weapons and their aspects to find what feels best for you!
