TL;DR
Popular Platforms
Google Flights and Skyscanner are frequently mentioned as reliable platforms for finding last-minute travel deals. They allow users to explore various destinations from their home airport and compare prices across different airlines [5:1],
[4:1]. Priceline is another popular choice, especially for those looking for good deals on flights and hotels
[1:1].
Specialized Deal Sites
Scott's Cheap Flights, now known as Going, is highly recommended for finding deals on flights. It offers a range of options, including local, domestic, business, and first-class deals [5:2]. Another site worth exploring is Momondo, which provides an extensive map view of possible destinations from your airport, making it easier to visualize and choose your next trip
[5:3].
Apps for Last-Minute Bookings
For last-minute hotel bookings, apps like HotelTonight are particularly useful. They specialize in offering discounted rates for same-day hotel reservations, making them ideal for spontaneous trips [1].
Lesser-Known Options
Atrápalo is a lesser-known platform that offers a variety of last-minute deals, not just limited to travel but also entertainment and dining [3:1]. Additionally, Rome2Rio is a great tool for planning transportation routes and can help find alternative travel methods if flights are too expensive or unavailable
[5:4].
International Focus
For those traveling internationally, particularly to Spain, consider checking out regional deal sites similar to YUL Deals or YYZ Deals in Canada. These sites often offer specialized deals that might not appear on larger platforms [3].
By utilizing a combination of these platforms, travelers can maximize their chances of finding affordable last-minute travel deals tailored to their needs.
Hey r/travel,
I’m looking for the best websites or apps for scoring last-minute travel deals. Whether it’s flights, hotels, or entire vacation packages, I’d love to hear what’s worked best for you!
I know there are a ton of options out there—Google Flights, Skyscanner, Kayak, Scott’s Cheap Flights (now Going), Hotwire, Priceline, and even apps like Hopper and HotelTonight. But I’m curious about your personal experiences: • Which website has saved you the most money on a last-minute trip? • Have you had better luck with domestic or international deals? • Any hidden gem websites or lesser-known hacks you’d recommend?
Would love to hear your success stories, horror stories, and best tips for spontaneous travel.
I like Priceline. I can usually find a good deal there.
I’m scrambling to book a last-minute trip to NYC, and after wading through a swamp of shady travel sites demanding upfront payments for deals that seem too good to be true, I’m done with the sketchy vibes. The big booking sites hit you with hidden fees that make my wallet cry, so I’m hunting for a legit platform to score flights or hotels without getting scammed. I came across https://www.startickets.com/, which seems solid with a 4.7 rating and a 100% buyer guarantee, promising secure bookings and refunds if plans fall through. Their mobile-friendly setup looks like a lifesaver for quick travel grabs, but I’ve also heard SeatGeek tossed around for event bookings - any chance they do travel too?
Anyone had luck with Startickets or other platforms for last-minute travel? How do you spot the real deals and dodge the scam traps? I’m aiming for affordable flights or hotels without crazy markups - any tips for navigating this mess or sites worth checking? Share your wins or horror stories; I need to make this trip happen without blowing my budget.

From Miami? JetBlue as long as you're not flying peak routes.
We all know Google and Skyscanner and Expedia, but are there relatively ‘unknown’ or very effective sites or mailing list for last minute flights for Spain (travelling internationally especially)?
For example, in Canada we had YUL Deals or YYZ Deals… are there are any similar ones or recommended sites that might not be as popular as the ‘big ones?’
Gracias!
Booking.com has always been my friend
Not focused only on travel, but Atrápalo has a bit of last minute everything.
Thanks! That’s a good one :)
Bonjour !
Ah oui, pardon ! Merci d’avoir corrigé !
For all questions related to tourism try r/Francetourisme

Is there a consensus on this yet? My partner and I seem to often be in a position of not planning for vacations that are right around the corner, and a site that listed all the places we could fly to from our home airport would be incredibly useful!
We love Scott's cheap flights. Almost all the stuff they post is from great Airlines and completely searchable. They have local and domestic and even business and first class deals. Feel free to use my link if you want no worries if you don't. I think you get a month free and I do too but no worries. Have a great time wherever you go. Our motto is live small so we can live big. We travel everywhere! https://joinscotts.com/c7aeqgrm
I like Momondo’s explore feature better than Google Flights because they will literally show you every. single. possible. destination from your airport if you go by map view, which I prefer to the list anyway.
For all sorts of transportation stuff I like Rome2Rio.com
Google flights
How do you have an open ended destination in Google flights?
You click on the Explore tab. From there, you can put in your origin and your dates (or something flexible like "2 weeks vacation in January"). The cheapest prices will show up on the map and you can click on them for more details.
>a site that listed all the places we could fly to from our home airport would be incredibly useful!
Google Flights, Skyscanner, in fact most of the flight search engines.
Skyskanner allows “ anywhere “ in search
Skyscanner (correct spelling) and try also [Scott’s Cheap Flights](https://app.scottscheapflights.com
I’d look into signing up for “Scott’s cheap flights” for the future. I think it’s an email list, and whoever runs it sends out super cheap flights, flights posted by mistake (like half off, or $100 round trips instead of $1,000 that then have to be honored, etc).
My buddies and I have found round trips to a few destinations for dirt cheap. Great for impulse buying flights.
Is it city specific? I don’t need cheap flights out CLE lol
Haven’t used it in a long time. But turns out it’s no longer free (14 day free trial, or $49 / year cheapest plan).
You pick the cities / airports you want to follow and primarily receive deals from, then the different paid plans give you other perks and a greater selection of the flights found by the app.
Try google, add dates and origin and click explore (leave destination empty).
This is the way.
Also don’t book on any website but the airlines, you arnt going to get a better deal and you are SOL if something happens mid transit.
I have had booking problems when I book through Expedia and they were very helpful in resolving them.
Agree on the booking. If you buy through another site and there’s a problem, that company and the airline will blame each other.
And there’s always the map view for Google Flights.
The best imo
Mighty Travels works well for finding good last-minute flight deals without requiring a specific destination. Give it a try!
I was wondering if anyone has a website or resource they use to find ultra last-minute flight deals. I’m talking like the scene from a movie where you decide to go to the airport with your bags packed last minute. I was hoping to find something where I type in the starting airport and dates I need with no destination just to see what comes up with the cheapest price. I tried to find something like that online with no success.
I don’t really have a destination in mind, and I’m flying out of NYC. I realize it may not work out for this weekend, but in the future it would be cool and it may help someone else too. Thanks y’all!
Last second flights are almost invariably the most expensive. Good luck.
This is asked a lot, and it isn't a thing. It almost always way more expensive to book things last minute.
This is especially true in that most flights now are overbooked, and even if they aren't, there tend to be last minute passengers due to other flight IRROPs.
And a lot of business travellers need to go last minute. I booked a one way 800 (Canadian) Toronto to Philly flight this year, when a client was having serious issue . I paid less to go to China than that.
But when travelling for work, price is secondary, timings are most important.
>I’m talking like the scene from a movie where you decide to go to the airport with your bags packed last minute.
It's the movies, not real life. In movies people always find a convenient parking spot right in front of the place they're going to.
Do a search. This gets asked all the time.
That is not a thing.
We are recently retired, and now have much more flexibility to take advantage of last minute airline tickets and hotel stays. Anyone have recommendations that have proven successful for you?
My professor at school has used travelzoo at length and tells us abt his trips. Can’t speak for it personally. Others will suggest Skyscanner.
Secret flying. They have an app and website. Choose your airport and go from there.
Edit: this is mostly flights only.
It would help if you said where you've retired to as obviously there are region and location specific sites/services. For e.g. I have had a lot of success with https://jacksflightclub.com/
This is a nice site if you're flexible. Timeshare owners renting out their properties 45 days or less into the future. Maximum rental rate is $800/week or $115/day. Often less.
You'll need to register to respond to listings, but there's no fee to do so.
https://tugbbs.com/forums/forums/timeshare-rentals-offered.45/
Tripmasters. Let’s you customize your vacation and has very reasonable prices. I’ve booked my trips to Italy, Switzerland, Germany and Budapest with them. Very easy to use.
Hello all,
I used to see individual resorts or flights have advertisements of special one-time deals. What are the websites your go to find really good travel deals?
Scott’s Cheap Flights for flight deals and mistake fares, which apparently still happen once in a while.
Sign up to the newsletters of different travel agencies. If you are too lazy just use Travelletters.com.
I've found great deals with www.travelzoo.com over the years. I subscribe to their mailing list and get notified of sweet deals often.
You don't.
Go read on r/travel about everyone who found a "deal" and how it worked out for them.
Book direct. Always. Being cheap is not a travel hack.
I'm biased being the developer of usecheep.com The trick is being flexible on dates and places to score a great travel deal.
usecheep.com
this. dates are everything. it can be 1000 a night versus 200.
Hey! This site is pretty cool! Maybe there are some collab ops we can do. DM me!
For some reason it wont let me set my desired airport?
Back in the day, pre-9/11, there used to be sites like TravelZoo where you could book a trip to Europe, including air, hotel, and car for $500. I'm super flexible and don't really care where I go. Do these types of deals and sites still exist?
TravelZoo still exists. Tons of travel sites, a google search will help you.
Cheapcaribbean.com
Scott's cheap flights or skiplagged, kayak has a cool explore feature you set a budget and starting point it tells you where you can fly.
The deals aren’t so great now. Rising costs but yea it there is still Deals on sites. Try sky scanner for cheap flights and trip adviser for accommodation deals.
