Cuphead Game Walkthrough

Understanding the Challenge

Cuphead is known for its challenging gameplay, often described as very hard, with a difficulty rating of 8/10 [1:1]. Players frequently discuss the game's reputation for difficulty but also highlight that it becomes manageable with practice and perseverance. The key to success in Cuphead lies in understanding boss patterns and refining your reflexes over time [3:2]. Many players find satisfaction in their skill progression as they gradually master each level [3:4].

Starting Tips for New Players

For beginners, it's important to remember that every boss can be defeated. Changing strategies and equipment, such as using the Smoke Bomb and Charge Shot, can significantly impact your success [2:2][2:4]. Adjusting controls early on to better suit your playstyle is also recommended. While the game is challenging, practicing patience and perseverance will help you improve [2:5].

Boss Strategies and Progression

Each boss in Cuphead requires different tactics, and learning these through trial and error is essential. Some players suggest not relying too much on online walkthroughs initially, as discovering patterns yourself can be more rewarding [2:4]. Additionally, while Simple Mode might seem tempting, it skips crucial stages, and completing bosses on Normal is necessary to progress [2:3].

Community Insights and Personal Experiences

Players often share personal anecdotes about their journey through Cuphead. For instance, some find the DLC slightly harder than the base game but still manageable [1:9]. Others emphasize the importance of muscle memory and repeated attempts to conquer difficult sections [3:6]. Despite its challenges, many players express a deep appreciation for the game and recommend it for those who enjoy a tough but fair challenge [4].

Final Thoughts

Cuphead's difficulty is part of its charm, offering a rewarding experience for those willing to invest time and effort. Whether you're aiming for trophies or simply looking to complete the game, persistence is key. As one player put it, "Just git gud," highlighting the necessity of honing your skills through practice [3:10].

Definitely the kind of game you enjoy so much that you want to reward it by buying the DLC.

I love watching my plat vid for this. I was so locked in at the end I was just jumping around the falling chip perfectly and I love reliving that moment. I have no idea how many hours it took to finally beat him but it was a lot. Congrats 🎉

The fun thing is that I did that parry on the video by accident and so glad I did because it would have taken me out. I was so locked in that I didn't even noticed the super was charged

Don’t say that, it is that hard, u are very good playing and that’s it, I also got it 2 years ago, my 2nd favorite after Dark Souls 1

Not OP but took me approx 20 hrs including dlc. If I were to redo this I think I could do it under 10 hrs as there is def some stuff to get used to at first but once you get a hang of the concept it's not too bad.

Totally agree. I think it was the prefect level of difficulty for me.

I expected it to be way harder based on the stories i heard about it on release. It wasn't easy, but it wasn't some rage inducing impossible game either. Just a pleasant challenge

Any Starting Tips for a new player?

Posted by LevitarDoom · in r/Cuphead · 7 years ago

Just picked up the game yesterday. I’ve wanted this game since last year, and I finally got an Xbox this week. Obviously the game is massively difficult, so any tips to help a new player?

User the correct gun for every situation. If you get stuck, change inventory or try a new strategy. Smoke bomb is almost always the best item. Don't forget you can fall through platforms.

You also must change controls from the start. Utilize the bumpers and triggers.

Git gud

(Don’t get discouraged. Keep on practicing until you can kill.)

(Also, I think that Simple Mode is a waste of time, since it skips the last stage and you have to beat every boss on Normal to progress)

don't die.

Seriously though, no real tips for beating the bosses. You need different tips for different bosses, but I think it's better if you learn the pattern by yourself first, before resorting to online walkthrough.

Just one, learn the useful upgrades and avoid the potentially useless ones. I advise to get Smoke Bomb & Charge Shot first and foremost.

My brother just got Cuphead yesterday in hopes of adding to our list of indie games we've played; little did the two of us know that this game was hard as balls. Bro, y'all make this look so fucking easy doing it without taking damage. HOW DOES ONE BEAT THIS DAMN GAME!!!

>HOW DOES ONE BEAT THIS DAMN GAME!!!

Infinite amounts of trial and error, building skills more and more across a period of multiple hours a day, trying new strategies, retrying old strategies,

and a WHOLE lot of dying.

59 upvotes on reddit
decadentbirdgarden · 5 months ago

imo the most satisfying part of the game is in your own skill progression. I’m stuck on the Devil in the base game, but I know I will beat him eventually - the fight is fair and it’s just a matter of fine-tuning my reflexes and responses, as it was for every other fight in the game.

I was looking at my boss fight scores and noticed that I got a B- for Goopy Le Grande and an A- for Dr. Kahl’s Robot, lol. The game truly does get easier with practice (and a lot of patience).

Just kidding, the game is all about muscle memory, be cartain that these people that finish the game without taking damage, already died A LOT before being able to do this

I'll have to try several times before you remember "Now the boss will do this, now an enemy will appear here"

I'm currently s ranking the devil and king dice. P ranked and s ranked everyone else. I had a little under 500 deaths after a+ everything the first go round on normal (including the run n guns), and I did a ton of resetting. I'm sure I'm now over a thousand and I've still be resetting. It's also my first time playing lol

I bought this game in 2018 and have played it on and off for over 7 years now. More off than on 😅 but I finally beat it yesterday and it felt so good. I thought King Dice was easier than the devil, although I’ve seen most people think the opposite. Nonetheless, it’s completed ☑️

From the boss fights, the music, the art style, it’s all fantastic. Both the main game and the DLC.

There were 2 times I lost my shit playing this and that was when I was trying to get an A- or higher on Rumor Honeybottoms(I absolutely sucked at that fight) and S ranking The Howling Aces. But other than that I was able to keep my cool for the rest of the game.

Yes, as we know, Cuphead is not an easy game. Mainly because of the boss fights. You gotta have skill for sure. This game really puts you to the test. I’ve been playing this since 2020 and maaan.. it feels damn good to get an S rank, especially one handed. Cuphead and Sekiro are the two games that really tests my skill. Are you a fan?

Which was harder, the expert mode trophy or doing the run and gun levels as a pacifist?

3 upvotes on reddit
ItzRice · 1 year ago

Not OP, but I also have the plat.

Most expert mode bosses are fine, but some are really difficult, while the P-rank run and guns are honestly fairly easily, so long as you have twin hearts and the invincibility super art.

Perilous piers was horrible, especially as a pacifist. That octopus section just sucked.

The flying levels for bosses are really hard on expert, especially Kahl’s robot and Wally warbles

Key Considerations for a Cuphead Game Walkthrough:

  1. Game Structure: Cuphead is divided into several islands, each containing bosses and platforming levels. Familiarize yourself with the layout to plan your route effectively.

  2. Boss Strategies: Each boss has unique attack patterns. Study their moves and learn the best strategies to defeat them. Focus on dodging and learning when to attack.

  3. Weapon Choices: Experiment with different weapons and charms. Some bosses are easier with specific loadouts, so find what works best for your playstyle.
