TL;DR The final boss in the main game of Cuphead is The Devil. In the DLC, "The Delicious Last Course," the final boss is Chef Saltbaker.
Main Game Final Boss: The Devil
In the original Cuphead game, players face off against The Devil as the ultimate challenge. This battle is known for its intense difficulty and requires players to master attack patterns and utilize their skills effectively [1:2]. The Devil's fight is a culmination of the game's unique art style and challenging gameplay that tests everything players have learned throughout their journey.
DLC Final Boss: Chef Saltbaker
In "The Delicious Last Course" DLC, the final boss is Chef Saltbaker. Players have found this boss to be quite challenging, especially on expert mode, where additional phases and prolonged attacks add to the difficulty [4:1]
[4:5]. Tips for defeating Chef Saltbaker include using the crack shot to focus more on character movement and watching the background for attack cues
[3:2].
Expert Mode Challenges
Many players have noted the increased difficulty when facing bosses on expert mode. For example, expert mode adds additional bosses and extends the duration of attacks, making it more challenging to dodge and survive [4:2]
[4:6]. Despite these challenges, some players find going back to regular mode much easier after tackling expert mode
[4:5].
Community Tips and Strategies
Players often share strategies and tips to help others overcome these difficult encounters. For instance, using specific weapons or saving power for crucial moments can make a significant difference in the outcome of a fight [2:1]. Additionally, paying close attention to attack patterns and choosing the right items are crucial for success

I finished Cuphead in a week, and im pretty sure it's my second favourite game (rdr2 is first if you're wondering, but I enjoyed Cuphead so much that it's possible it was more enjoyable then rdr2 (didn't beat rdr2 yet.)).
And i will rate some of the bosses i enjoyed the most...
Werner Werman, something about this boss was so charming. It felt so simple and a breath of fresh air with the sound track absolutely killing it! Just beacuse he's the worst on the list doesn't mean he's an enjoyable bossfight.
Grim Matchstick, 6 or 7 years ago, when Matchstick was considered the hardest boss fight in the game.. his bossfight is probably the most unique out of the all normal bosses. His soundtrack is alright.. but his animations are just perfection. And his final intimidating phase is a cherry on top.
King Dice, he is just cool. The way the is the last bossfight before the last bossfight is pretty cool, and the way we fight his minions along the way? DAMN! And we all died atleast once because his cards were unexpected.. also, one of the best soundtracks in the game!
Cagney Carnation, do i even have to explain myself? The best bossfight in inkwell isle I, if not one of the best bossfights in the game. His soundtrack is pretty much the best and the most iconic, his bossfight fits the intense difficulty and soundtrack when we were fighting him for the firsts time. A beautiful flower, and a beautiful bossfight.
The devil, the last bossfight, the best visuals, attacks, difficulty, creativity etc.. for me. When i got on his second phase for the first time.. the soundtrack and bossfight got EVEN BETTER LIKE SHEESH!!! And harder.. ofc. And the way his final phase is so short and easy, but we would be 90% 1 hp would make the bossfight even more intense and stressful.. perfection!
And that would be it, if you did read all of this.. well thanks! I'm just very passionate about this game and i didn't regret typing all of this.
I hope for Cuphead 2
That can wait 😭
me too I think The Devil get Revenge on Cuphead Mugman and Ms Chalice
Yeah... Studio MDR already said that would never happen
Off you go with the DLC! Short but just as sweet
Congrats! I agree with your top bosses, i would have picked cala maria and beppi. I just finished the game about a month ago myself. I loved it so much I got the DLC and actually started watching the cuphead show on netflix, its so good!!! I recommend checking it out if you loved cuphead that much.
I finished watching it ever since it came out;]
Awesome :D glad you enjoyed the game :D. If you haven't. Please consider getting the DLC. Its incredible
gg
I always die on the last phase because of the rumor honeybottoms platforming. Edit: just beat it! Now for an expert run…
Everytime you see a long gap between the platforms use the dash, if the heart of Saltbaker is coming right to you parry, try to save your power to use Super 2 which grant you an extra hit. If you see that you are gonna fall anyway and you have more HP try to fall to the pit, this will cause you do a high jump which you can use it to comeback to the higher platform, also since Chalice jump more shortly than Cuphead & Mugman try to always use double Jump.
Ok thanks. Edit: I beat it tysm
If you aren’t already, for the first playthrough of the boss use the crack shot so you can focus more on your character. Also make sure to be checking the background for attack cues if you aren’t already. Other than that just keep on trying! You got this

Have you played it on expert yet? It adds two final bosses
Tell me your joking
Not even. Plus, it makes it so that every attack lasts longer, but not the time between him starting an article. You sometimes have the limes, suger, and berries all at once!
expert saltbaker made me rage more than i had in awhile, going back to regular was so easy afterwards
oh boy i WISH
These things on Expert take up so much free real estate on the screen, just to add upon all the other flying peices of sensory overload. I hated them. Now I’m already done with S rank Saltbaker so I won’t come back for expert of his fight again (probably)
Christ, this guy on Expert is a nightmare
Luckily the final two phases are not bad at all, so if you can get through the whirlwind of insane bullshit he throws at you in the first two phases, you’re good. Both expert and regular, I got him within a couple attempts that got to phase 3 — usually dying there just to being on 1HP and spazzing into the buzzsaw immediately
based
Bro this man is correct 💀
I have more deaths than that and I’m only on baroness von bon bon
Don't be disappointed. It's a pretty difficult game. You must pay special attention to the attack patterns of each boss. Another important issue is the items you choose.
I think I got just about the same as that :)
Congrats
Thanks, and the same to you!! :)
S-Ranking Saltbaker took me 7 and a half hours
S ranking that dude took me like 3 hours, him and Esther sucked s ranking
I 100% to DLC on the day of release and spent almost 13 hours on saltbaker
It took 5 tries but the DEVIL TOOK HOURS TO BEAT
It wasnt even that hard what LOL the only challenging part was the end
Fire guy in Saltbaker fight
I haven’t realized it until now but we never names the fire dude in salt bakers fight. What should his name be
Ok expert it's a damn nightmare. It takes over a minute to whittle down his health in the last phase, but the last phase is LITERALLY JUST BULLET HELL. So for a straight minute you cannot get hit by anything while trying to shoot st a ever moving Target
Listen, Cala Maria isnt unfair, you literally just need to be prepares for whats coming, in pre cabe phase you can kill the minions with ex attacks and bombs and keep moving and you will be fine. In cave phase you need to stick the far left and be prepared for the attacks.
...is overrated difficulty-wise.
Saltbaker, how are we supposed to fight without admiring that animation
Devil on base, Saltbaker on Expert.
My top five hardest bosses
The dragon guy
The dice person
The bee
The robot
The devil(got kinda lucky honestly)
We shall not talk about me taking like 8 days straight just beating the main game, DLC, and refighting bosses for like 40 second intervals
King dice and the devil took 5 of these hours btw
Nice pic, mate!
Don’t worry, mines 45 😭
You actually beat it quicker than me and I've seen the game
This game has 43 trophies: 24 bronze, 12 silver, 6 gold, and a platinum.
They are very hard (8/10) and take 25 - 35 hours to complete.
Price: $19.99
OpenCritic: 88 / 100 (based on 189 reviews)
Other region prices, wishlist, or buy | Trophy guides: PSNP, PS3T
I am a bot. More info about me
Even dice is more intimidating than the Devil
Yet his actual bossfight is actually pretty mundane if you ask me, he just spams this one attack over and over
According to the artbook, he was going to have a lot more attacks, and I assume that was from a point in development where he was still his own fight- originally Inkwell Hell would've had several boss fights, with Dice's minibosses being their own separate boss encounters, before later being changed to appear as minions during the fight against Dice, and finally as minibosses before Dice himself.
They probably cut Dice's other attacks because it would be extremely hard to go through a boss gauntlet and then have to fight an entire complicated boss. I know King Dice was hard enough for me even with the one card wave attack.
Ok but the ost’s for both fights go hard
The Devil's fight also incorporates several boss themes into the music.
Too bad the section it shows up in (the very start) doesn’t even remotely last long enough for you to even get a hint of that.
Chad Saltbaker has dynamic music with 3 separate phases. The third phase because it is its own track allows the player to hear the best parts as it SHOULD BE.
Devil is probably Lawful Evil, as for Saltbaker - Chaotic Evil
Baby Bottle is Chaotic Evil. Salt is Neutral as he ends up redeeming.
If Baby Bottle can destroy a house and almost kill two 10 year olds and a war veteran before knowing how to walk, I'm worried of what that thing may be capable of in a close future
The Devil theme is FIRE
The Devil is obviously LE. Satanic contracts and all.
Lawful Evil sounds actually more fitting. Thanks for opening my eyes
Unfortunately, I’ve already had it spoiled by plenty of other jerks. But I appreciate you doing this, OP!
Although Chef Saltbaker being the final boss was hinted at, it was still a great plot twist.
I just wish that stupid magazine article didn't basically flat out confirm it lmfao
"We won't say who the final boss is, but you could probably guess it" or some shit like that
Then they show the fucking FLAG at the bakery
Yeah it would have been a lot better if it was a surprise
