TL;DR: Explore thoroughly, balance leveling with boss challenges, and enjoy the DLC content included in the Shadow of the Erdtree edition.
Exploration and Leveling
Exploration is a key part of Elden Ring, and many players find themselves over-leveled for boss fights due to extensive exploration [3:2]. While exploring, players often encounter difficult non-boss enemies, such as the bear in the cave where you get the Golden Scarab, which can provide unexpected challenges
[3:4]. It's important to balance exploration with leveling to ensure boss fights remain challenging and rewarding.
Combat Strategy
Players have varied experiences with combat strategies. Some opt for pure melee builds, avoiding shields, spells, and other aids [3]. This approach can lead to a unique experience but may also result in missing out on some of the game's depth and challenge. For those looking to increase difficulty, trying boss fights at appropriate levels or without summons can enhance the experience
[3:3].
DLC Content
The "Shadow of the Erdtree" edition includes both the base game and expansion, offering additional content for players to explore [5:1]. Purchasing this edition can be a good way to access new areas and challenges, and it's available at various price points, including discounts for used copies
[5:3]. Ensure that any DLC codes are valid when purchasing from resale sources.
Community Resources
For further assistance, players can engage with community resources such as subreddits dedicated to co-op, trade, and PVP action [3:1]. Additionally, online wikis and Discord servers provide valuable information and support for navigating the game
[3:1].
Additional Considerations
While playing through Elden Ring and its expansions, consider experimenting with different builds and strategies to fully experience the game's mechanics. Engaging with the community can also offer insights and tips to enhance your gameplay experience.
It’s a goofball comedy so >!I imagine we’ll get the questline ending where Rya lives, but I’m wondering what shenanigans we can get with the Tonic of Forgetfulness!<
>!Someone sneaks it into Tanith's drink and she just ends up going into herpetology.!<
Lmao did they just skip >!Godskin Noble!<? The rolling ball attack should be ripe for comedy!
Gotta save him for the duo I guess
Awwwww Rya questline is almost over.
It was pretty funny seeing her pull the pickaxe out and start bashing the wall like a souls veteran looking for hidden walls haha

You going to inflict destined death on your enemies?
Godwyn specifically
I know the game has been out a while, but it took me forever to find the time to get and play it (Thank you Black Myth Wukong). Cool game, some say it is super hard. I seemed to die the most out in the open world, not in the Boss fights. Most Boss fights only took about 5 tries.
I never equipped a single shield. Never cast a single spell. Never used a Rune Arc. Never used my flask of physik.
I was pure melee, got to level 285 or so, owned pretty much every weapon and armor set available. Mainly used a Twinblade weapon, until I got Star Fists. The only real Ash of War I ever used were two: Endure and Lion's Claw. I would get up close and personal and just hammer on foes. In the DLC I had a short love affair with the Backhand blade, which I would occasionally use in place of Star Fist. Never used any consumables to buff myself.
Used the horse (of course), heals, and a flask for AOW attacks. I usually summoned Mimic Tear when available for boss fights.
Finished everything the game is over and I have no plans to do a NG+ run. I occasionally get on and let others summon me so I can put my Star Fist into a boss' face.
I'm assuming you already know this, but the reason you considered the bosses "easy" is because you were massively overleveled. Which is a shame, because you deprived yourself of a huge part of the experience and one of the main reasons people love the game. If you take the challenge away, your experience is essentially just exploring and checking things off your to-do list.
Youll also get no street cred on these threads. I'd recommend trying again at appropriate levels for each boss (you can Google what level you should be for each boss/area). It will be an entirely different play experience, and it will be way more rewarding.
That happened to me my first run through the game. I am someone who sticks to the same character almost pathetically out of comfort and was over leveled plus used summons a lot (I scoured the map for goodies). Once I hit ng5 or 6 I started using no summons for bosses and the whiplash of the scaling difficulty and me being left naked with only my skill taught me how truly massive my crutches were. I am past messmer summonless on ng7 and I am hating my life, but learning!
One last bit of my experience. The hardest thing I ever fought was some stupid bear in a cave where I believe you get the Golden Scarab. Not sure why he was so difficult, I do not even think he was a boss. Ended up having to go back and open a can of whoop azz several levels later, where he was till dicey. Go figure.
Sounds like you had a great time! How’d you get that high level? I think even my near 100% ng+ run is lower level than 280.

I know about the Garden of Eyes mod and have looked into it, however most of the other stuff on the mod I'm not really into. Just want the bosses from previous games
I don't think so. Nightreign has a few examples of this though
Sounds like its time to give nightreign a try
Hello! I have been wanting to play something new in a while and i’m in a really hard spot choosing! I own elden ring base game and played it 3 rounds when it released, but i haven’t touched it after i got stuck at the final boss on my last one. I have more than 200 hours in the game and i loved it, but i lack a lot of skill and mostly advanced thanks to my friends and kind strangers 😔 the DLC seems really interesting to me and i would love to try it, but i fear getting stuck and not being able to keep on as i don’t have PS plus for co op at the moment. On the other hand, i have never played any resident evil game and i really like the design of the remake! But i’m not sure if it will be my taste. I played the demo and i thought the scenary was very pretty. Which one should i get? I want to spend my money wisely as it came from a birthday gift haha. I love exploring, entertaining games but i lack skill fighting. I would appreciate any help! Thanks a lot in advance :)
Resi 4 remake is one of my fav games, really fun game. I found shadow of the erdtree to be a miserable slog.
I would get RE4, for something new. You should've gotten a feel for the combat during the demo, it'll be the same throughout the game.
Elden Ring DLC is great, but if you can't get past the final boss of the base game, I'm not sure you could take on like half the bosses in the DLC
I cast my vote for Elden Ring
Really though decision, both games are in my top 3 for sure , both are great in their own ways . But if you don’t have access to coop I would suggest go for re4 mostly because SOTE is harder than the base game for sure so not having access to coop aid makes it way harder . You can’t go wrong by picking re4 , awesome game with a lot of replay value if you like going for the achievements, also the dlc is really good (more action pace) and often you can grab both at a good price.
Both are great. Most of the ER DLC bosses are considerably more difficult than anything in the base game. You might get hard stuck really quickly. But if you're up for the challenge go for it. It is awesome.
Its been so long since I got this quest and still I think the quest is unbeatable until I presume i need to upgrade the needolin? The area below bellhart I saw seen in the trailer map is inaccessible for me, blocked by a big face in the marrow. My needolin does not open it. And I've looked through all of the area above bellhart and not a single silver bell.
Am I stupid? Is this completable right away? Or am I right and that I need some kind of upgrade or skill to be able to collect the bells. Please don't spoil where I need to go to get the upgrade/skill/whatever if thats the case, I would just like to know if that's what I need or not. And if not tell me exactly what to do because I might be dumb :/
The path that connects Bellhart with The Marrow >!is blocked by a hidden destructible wall all the way to the right in the Bell Beast station room. There are like 4 or 5 silver bells in that area!<. It is completable with all the abilities you have at the moment.
ah man. I thought it was a special skill but also I doubt I ever would have tried to look in that bellbeast room. thanks!
I just realized the big face is a completely different thing blocking off the lower part of shellwood. I'm gonna look around to see if theres some kind of hidding thing I missed there too.
I think the way into the tunnel under Bellhart is in the fast travel building. The bells just spawn randomly in there. You kinda just have to walk around until they start to drop from the ceiling.
they fall randomly in the area above bellhart
This is the only gather quest I didn’t like so far. Best place is hidden room to the right of Bellhart Bellbeast room. The silver bells randomly drop throughout the level. Once you’ve explored every part of the level they seem to stop dropping. Leaving the level and coming back in helped
I recently played through elden ring for the first time after getting into it through nightreign, and I’ve enjoyed fighting all the bosses at their recommended level n I don’t want to end up overleveled going into SOTE. Should I go into the DLC in basic NG with my Elden lord title or is it a better experience to go into it with the slight ng+ difficulty bump to balance out the fact I’m over level 150. Ignore stats I’m going to renalla before starting again lol.
The DLC has a separate scaling mechanic for damage and defense, so level matters truthfully a lot less. With the build you have, you'll be fine. I'd actually recommend against going into the DLC on NG+ considering you'll just be making it harder for no reason.
This. I played SotE on NG+ and NG and NG was considerably easier, TBH. Those were on play throughs 4 and 5 so I had overcome the early skill issue. I will say, I explored almost the entire map the second time around in the DLC before going into the mid and late game bosses, but even the comparably leveled bosses were quite different on the difficulty scale.
NG+3 was a total bitch but is it true that bosses will still 2 shot me on a fresh DLC play through? Im about to start it soon.
Level 185.
So true. I went into the DLC at NG4 and it was tough.
Go into the DLC before NG+ trust me. It's scaled differently so it won't be too easy and you won't have to play through a second NG+ if you want to get multiple of one item in the DLC
At very least, if you started NG+, you'd have to clear 60% of the game again in order to access the DLC. I'd recommend heading into it in NG.
After. The. DLC
Don't worry about overleveling. When the DLC came out we have lots of folks getting into SOTE with LVL200+ build and still getting two shot. The Scadutree blessing system will give you a unique scaling for damage and defense so what matters is really the blessing level instead of just a few soul levels.
