Character Interactions and Story Elements
Characters in Hades 2 are not only important for gameplay mechanics but also contribute to the game's rich narrative. For example, Ares' appearance is contingent on meeting Typhon on the surface route, similar to Demeter in the first game [3:1]. These story elements add depth to the game and provide context for character development.

How a centry bot can have more hitpoints then a zombie HEAVY is beyond me.
I'm about to grab sheets of notebook paper like I'm writing down chao recipes in SA2B
I honestly thought Charybdis wasn’t even an encounter in surface route anymore. I was so happy they got rid of him
The boar’s hp pool is ridiculous given how early he appears and how simple his move set is
Poseidon does have some builds that go nuts to butts, I'd at least bump him up a tier for his duo potential with zues. If you've tried aspect of lucifer on the rail try for a super soaker build with zues call and hope for the duo that strikes an enemy with 40 lightning damage every time you knock them back. Absolutely melts. Luck does play a big roll for a lot of the Gods you have ranked lower I admit so it does make them 'worse' in terms of ease of use.
You're sleeping on Artemis though she should be at least A tier if not higher since crits are busted in Hades. I agree that aphro call is best when using the full call but the lesser calls are still good if you can mind control the right enemy or even use it to stall out certain bosses. For example you can immune Asterius' whirlwind ability with aphro call if you want, works on any boss really to give yourself some indirect invulnerability to boss damage.
Personally I would put Poseidon way higher simply because he has the best dash and one of the best casts in the game. Zeus is also very strong with the right secondary boons and has probably the best duos (lightning rod, sea storm, smoldering air, vengeful mood, etc).
Maxed out Poseidon call in any phase at [REDACTED] and phase is over.
My issue with Zeus is he prefers if you stack his boons, and sometimes i only see his boons pop up once or twice or when i have to decide between him or the hammer (i almost always go for hammer when it pops up)
Dionysus is actually super good as well, especially on anything that attacks quickly. Hangover is a great mechanic that can just melt people. Premium Vintage also makes your health pool godly if grabbed early enough. Also, pairs will with Athena for their duo or Demeter for stacking debugs.
Demeter's cast plus Artemis duo is gas. Also the other Demeter cast upgrades are sick. Aphrodite's duo with Demeter is actually pretty good too.
Dio was always top 3 with me. Although i will say as time went on i used him less. I still like hangover, but it doesnt mix well with my favorite builds anymore. I tend to go one hit haymaker builds, so anything you need multiple stacks of loses viability fast. His cast is my overall fav, but i never liked his dash or call. Also his support boons are only useful before you get good at playing. I couldnt tell you the last time i had to take one of those from him or athena for that matter.
I'd argue Poseidon is only really good for his Dash, a couple of his Duo Boons, and his call and cast being on the stronger end. His attack is arguably the worst of all of them, his special is kind of mid, and outside of Hydraulic Might, his utility is lacking. I grab Poseidon a lot, but it's only because I want Mirage Shot or Sea Storm. I think gods like Ares, Zeus, Artemis, and Aphrodite are just better "pure damage" gods, and Dionysus, Athena, and Demeter have better support boons.
I'd still rank Poseidon higher than Demeter, but he's like 2nd worst to me.
Could you help me make Zeus work? I did basically everything you can do in the game, and have never had a run that primarily relies on his boons.
Sure, first thing to know is Zeus is a god whom synergizes well with fast attacking weapons. Zeus shield combined with Zeus special boon is a famous combo that beat the highest heat possible in the game. Zeus attack works well with both fists and rail due to their high attack speed, and suffers more on bow and sword. Not that you can't make those combos work if you're experienced, just that they don't produce the absolute meltiest builds.
Zeus does need quite a few boons to start really comboing well, often my Zeus builds don't come fully online until Elysium or even Styx chambers dif I'm particularly unlucky.
Zeus also benefits greatly from higher rarity boons, with an epic boon in some cases being doubled in effectiveness when compared to their common incarnations. Poms are still effective, giving very good bonuses for the first couple on each Zeus boon but then diminishing returns heavily reduce any further gains.
Try and figure out who is in your run's God pool early so you know which duos are feasible, Artemis and Zeus for example giving the always appreciated lightning strikes on your cast stones, or Aphrodite+Zeus call duo which isn't too strong on some calls but absolutely chunks with Zeus as your call. Zeus pretty much has one of the best calls in the game too so if I can I usually pick him as my call boon in almost all cases. Dio also has a very strong call which combos well with the Zues+Aphro duo.
I could go on but these are good tips. Good luck on your runs and remember it's a game so fun is the goal!
Aphrodite’s call’s charm effect interrupts bosses and can be used frequently on Hades basically stun lock him. I actually really like it.
Pretty much agreed here. After playing this game for years, I've grown comfortable with pretty much every single god.
I don't like every god, e.g. Dio and Ares main mechanics are kinda meh to me. But they do have things that can scale ridiculously well. Dio's cast might be the best in the game, and Ares blades and revenge damage mechanics are a lot of fun. No matter who I pick I'm pretty happy with how I can scale them.
I rate his cast right up there with Demeter's cast. Very good. If I've gotten Demeter first... I'll avoid him completely during the run and go for artemis instead.
If I get him first... I'll go for her as much as possible. Love their duo boon.
I think his boons are not as good as in hades 1.
Ps5 player still waiting for hades 2 to come out
Iirc you have to atleast MEET the last guardian of the surface for his boons to start spawning
The battlecry everytime his boon appears is… marvelous
Guardian of the Globe?
WHERE IS OMNI-MAN!? WHERE IS HE!?
He’s like >!Demeter!< in hades 1. Only appears after you meet >!Typhon!< on the surface route
I did not know that liking Theseus was legal yet
I'm so obsessed with Theseus! Both in mythology and in game. He's marvelous and spectacular. I'm his number one fan. I wish I was Hippolyta so I could have married him and nearly killed Phaedra
I got the game recently and I think he’s one of my favorites. I hate him but they did an amazing job at making him comically unlikeable. Especially in extreme measures
Theseus is the funniest character in the game, only challenged by Hypnos and Skelly
Cerberus in 2nd tier, this entire list is null and void
Did you want op to call a dog hot?
All my homies love that one shade cheering for us in the third bossfight
Never noticed this or that map thing lol.
Supportive shade is so far at the top you can’t see him.
This is Tis slander
Truly, I believe OP has gotten to the point where Tis becomes.... [[nicer?]]
Preach! Tisiphone deserves better!
A decent Tier 2 teams. He stepped up slightly in the end.
I think it's hard to accurately judge his performance while being a stand-in for a dead and unstable team. It wouldn't hurt for some tier 2 teams to give him a tryout.
It felt like he was too scared of missing shots and looking bad doing it that he just ran away from multiple fights. Never saw him actively look to be aggressive with the awp and then when you needed him to make those awp shots he kept missing the easy shots or just randomly getting caught out of position.
He definitely did not have the supportsystem to be aggressive/dynamic. The hell g2 couldn’t even adjust to the same cat play over and over
I feel people are being a bit harsh, he’s coming on a already struggling team that lost its two biggest players, then while the rest of the team is filling up and taking over those old roles he’s being expected to replace monesy and igl in 1 month (14 series and 3 of them bo1s)
Safe to say he didn’t have a very easy odds to settle in and still put decent numbers and showed he has the ability on some maps
In this particularly game it was obvious he doesn't have the awareness, gamesense and i can also say the skills for such a high level stages. He had at least 2 mistakes every single round and the fact he was repeating them again and again..not also misses the thousands shots but he also was giving a lot of space especially on that long fights..he kept falling back on the corner and just holding even when the team of g2 were retaking he again was always far away back long..but the thing that pissed me a lot was that he kept buying awp again and again...to me..he is the only responsible for that loss..when you see 30-40 k/d..yeah good but watching the game..absolutely terrible performance.
Agreed he had a absolute stinker on this map but his calling imo actually pretty good too vs navi he put good numbers and performance imo
Guangdong Tigers, ni hao
Missed a lot of sitters, that 1v1 vs Senzu was embarassing he’s just lucky there’s no kit
From G2 to T2.
g2 is almost tier 2 themselves. either tier 1.5 or tier 2
hades is at best tier 3 player. maybe not even.
You did worse than them at the major 😭
Decent. I like his design and his boons are great. But in the second game, Dionysus hangs out partying in a bathhouse while the rest of Olympus is literally at war. I know the devs needed an excuse for him to stay out of the main gameplay so they could use a different set of gods, but I’m pretty pissed that they didn’t acknowledge his warlike aspect at all. He’s reduced to “lol drunk frat boy” again.
If Olympus were at war, Dionysus would be on the front line with his army of maenads and panthers, dismembering his enemies and driving them mad. Give me scary Dionysus!!!
That's a bummer. Really liked the first game and being able to use his and Aphrodites' boons in conjunction was my favorite part.
Agreed! I wonder, though, if he shall play a more prominent role post EA? I would certainly love to see more of him than just...well, drunk frat bro.
Yeah. They eventually brought Ares in, so they might bring Dio in too. I keep treating each update like a free DLC, I forget that it’s literally an unfinished game.
100% this. I always felt this way and that’s why I’m so sad I’m not as attached to him in the second game as the first. It’s actually what introduced me to him. It sorta feels like a caricature of him which is so disappointing.
Tbh a lot of gods and goddesses in pop culture are reduced to their “lol omg what a himbo!/Goddess of beauty and sex” aspects and it’s like ummm their war and knowledge aspects? Hello?! Did we forget a lot of the Lords and Ladies of Olympus are actually scary as hell? wtf
Yeah. That, or people use the fact that they’re scary as hell as a reason to hate them.
Hades Dionysus is how I got into hellenism. I went "damn, Dio is hot! What's with all the leopard stuff? And he's gotta be more than just the god of wine." And then I started to do research. One thing led to another and now I'm here lol
He's so fun, I agree. The Hades II redesign of him tho is just...something else lol
Hoooly hell hes rocking out with his cock(almost!) out
I love it, I haven't played the second one, but I have... concerns. And I'm not only talking about him having a whole leopard under the leopard underwear, but also that he looks very drunk and I dislike when media portrays him that way. It's too simplistic. I wish we could see his wild madness aspect more often.
Hades Dionysus is fine. I like the design, and his conversations in the first game are fun (Orphic Dionysian myths are apparently a collab between him and Zagreus to prank Orpheus).
I don't, however, like his depiction in Hades 2. He has so many epithets that aren't just 'drunk god of parties', and he even has a war aspect. Why is he not helping Olympus?
I wanted to do a guide that showcases 4 beginner-friendly builds and provides some general guidelines that I wish I knew as a beginner.
I never noticed before but it's really interesting that only two of Demeter's duo boons aren't based on a specific Cast.
And even then, Cold Fusion is based on a specific Boon. Stubborn Roots is the only "generic" duo boon she has.
Wow I never noticed that, great observation. Her Duo Boons are kinda too specialized, you have to really build into them to really make them shine, which for me always ends up being not powerful enough or missing 1~2 crucial boons. Most of the time I just skipped them.
I usually try to avoid Demeter unless I want to build around her cast and get the Artemis duo.

Not a big fan of many of these cheatsheets but this one is pretty clear. Good job.
Thanks. I made these for my own reference, sharing it so more people can benefit from my efforts.
The game itself already has a cheat sheet. Bring up the notebook, go to the Olympian gods, and click whatever button it says to view boons, then scroll down to the duo boons. It shows how to obtain and even highlights green the required boons you already have.
Or just open this on my phone and then look at it whenever I want to see it during a run.
quicker and easier to do it in the run, also stops the timer.
Huh, I didn't know you couldn't get Freezing Vortex and Hunting Blades at the same time.
They require mutually exclusive casts. From my knowledge hunting blades only effects the cast blade rift, not the dash
I feel like I’ve had them at the same time but maybe my memory is foggy. Great sheet though!
I got the game yesterday, did 8 runs and wondered if there was any tips people had that I could use
So does anyone have tips for me?
Keep moving, talk to everyone, give away nectar often as possible, and there are more skills on your mirror than you probably realize (hint: left side of the skill theres a toggle button)
Might be confusing cause you only unlock it after a while
Concentrate on getting Keys! and enjoy, this game is awesome
Don’t get discouraged over dying a lot. You will get stronger and smarter as the runs will get longer. The boons will get better.
Not to mention, the story gets better and better. Have fun dying!
Ok thx
You are invulnerable when dashing, so with proper timing your can dash straight trough danger.
This only works when you are just dashing, if you dash-strike you can be hit.
Oh thanks I didn't know that
Athena's Divine Dash is amazing and you should always go for it.
Definitely an almost always pick for me if I haven't gotten a different boon. Athena, Poseidon, and Ares have solid dash boons that can make runs way easier.
Just want to share some of my tips: -Your Magick cannot be lowered than 0, use as many "prime" boons and vows then pick up item to increase max magick at later stage
Any of you have useful tips guys? Thank you
If someone in the main area is missing, or Hecate is hoarding the cauldron, just enter your training area and come back.
For those that don't like the limited use healing hex, there's an upgrade that allows you to stack additional uses per fountain, so you can fight Chronos with like 10 heals if you want.
All non-boss enemies with a red health bar (which includes mini bosses) are staggered long enough by any weapon (even the axe) that spamming your basic attack is always safe.
Breaking an enemy's armor staggers them just like if you hit their red health bar.
You basic cast is free and will snare enemies. This is huge by itself, but some of the cast improvements by boons are to the base cast, so it's free damage.
Arachne's boosts last the rest of the game, even if you lose the armor. not proven.
Frinos can absorb Hecate's morph hex and body-block a lot of hazardous fire from even bosses (anything that has a projectile and not an AoE graphic.)
Artemis and Icarus don't friendly fire, so feel free to pull enemies into their damage zones.
It can be easy to miss that you can upgrade your grasp with Psyche, just move past the aracana to the right (and expect the devs to fix this.)
Leaving the crossroads to the training ground and returning back won't expend any whiles, but it can change which NPCs are present/absent or skip past an incantation to free up the pot (alternatively, you can join the incantation.)
Ariadne's boosts last the rest of the game, even if you lose the armor.
Assume you mean Arachne but no, that is not true. You definitely lose the buff if you hit 0 armor
Ariadne's boosts last the rest of the game, even if you lose the armor.
Wait, WHAT? Holy crap I never checked.
Should be more precise, the rest of the run. But a lot of people assume the armor = the outfit and the bonus is ruined when it is lost, but that’s not the case.
You don't lose the buffs!!?? That changes everything.
I think the game should relay that information better.
The buff is there as long as you have armor. You can drop to zero, but if you gain armor later, the buff re activates.
The second best way is to bring his HP to 0 while under the effects of Moros' keepsake!
In that run I had bonk hammer and last attack in attack sequence hits twice which makes a double bonk. Aphrodite on attack (pommed up), the demeter boon which empowers your attacks but they cost 20 Magick, heartthrob for some extra damage, demeter cyclone cast + hestia cast for instant origination. It was an all stars aligned type of run.
I haven't beaten a run yet (I know, I know, I'm working on it) but I already know my first W will be with the axe
That might be it, theres the Hephaestus boon that generates armor.
God modes is very useful for learning enemy attack patterns. I had a lot easier time finishing runs immediately after the first and only time I used it
