TL;DR
Character Affinity and Side Quest Timing
In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, certain side quests impact your affinity with characters, which can influence scenes in Chapters 8 and 12. To ensure these scenes occur with Tifa, focus on completing her specific quests while avoiding those that boost affinity with other characters until after Chapter 12. Notably, some of Tifa's quests require unlocking through other characters' quests, such as Yuffie's quest in Nibelheim and Aerith's quest in Costa Del Sol [1:1].
Access to Side Quests
All side quests become accessible after the Chapter 12 event but before entering the final dungeon. This allows players to complete any missed quests without affecting the storyline's progression [1:3]. It's important to note the point of no return occurs after the Chapter 12 event, so plan your quest completion accordingly
[1:5].
Chronological Order and Tracking
For players aiming to complete every side quest, it's helpful to track them by chapter. You can view the side quest list in your original save file, organized by chapter [2:1]. Additionally, some users have compiled lists detailing side quests in chronological order, which can aid in ensuring none are missed during gameplay
[2:2].
Enjoyment and Completion
While some players find completing all side quests enhances their enjoyment of the game, others suggest prioritizing personal enjoyment over completionism. If you find certain quests challenging or unenjoyable, consider focusing on the ones you enjoy most [5:1]
[5:3]. However, many players appreciate the additional content and character development provided by completing all side quests
[5:4].
Technical Considerations
When using chapter select to complete side quests, ensure you finish the entire chapter for the quests to register as complete [4:1]. Skipping parts of a chapter may result in quests being marked as failed
[4:3], so it's crucial to play through each chapter fully when revisiting quests.
I want to do every side quest, but my priority is to have the Chapter 8 and 12 scenes happen with Tifa. So, I am not planning on doing side quests that affect the affinity with other characters until that point, at least, not all of them. Will they be available until the end of the game?
Yes. You will be able to access all the sidequests after the chapter 12 date but before the final dungeon.
You can do all the sidequests after chapter 12. There is a point of no return that makes all side content unavailable. But after finishing the story, side quests are again available.
If you do all the tifa choices good and match with her swimsuit, the only one in danger of being higher than her is Red.
So all you really would have to do is refrain from doing 1 or 2 Red quests and don't convo him once or twice (Also don't rematch him in Queens blood) until after chapter 12 date
This is a very good response.
The point of no return is after the chapter 12 event, you'll have the chance to do all side quest after
You can do all the sidequests until chapter 12, then only do the Tifa quests. Some of her quests have to be unlocked through other characters. You have to do Yuffie's quest in Nibelheim to unlock the chocobos Tifa quest in ch 12. And you have to do Aerith's quest in Costa Del Sol to unlock Tifa's quest in the same region.
This is also very good advice.
I'm doing a second play through of the game but I wanna make sure I don't miss any side quests
•Turtles Paradise #1: Sector 5 slums

Spent like an hour on this. I hope its helpful
I want to let you know that you did a great fuckin job on this list, and I was going to give you an award until I saw that it cost money. But I'll upvote this. Thank you for taking the time to help someone. Your awesome.
Thank you!
Wow thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
Go to your original save file and check the side quest list (options, R2). They’re organized by chapter
Edit: look up the dress choices because there’s a trophy for all 9 (3 for Cloud, 3 for Aeris, and 3 for Tifa) and they’re affected by choices you make as early as chapter 3.
Edit: thanks for the down votes. I didn’t look at the flair and see it was for the original game. Everyone makes mistakes
I'm talking about the original but thanks anyways
I've gotta give it to Aerith's last side quest from Cosmo Canyon. It's so precious, but I'd like to know yours!
While I don’t think it’s the strongest (or most enjoyable) side quest in the game, “Flowers from the Hill” took me by surprise.
Between the Sector 5 callbacks (Aerith/Cloud dialogue, instrumental version of Hollow, etc.) and its proximity to Midgar, this quest just put me a very specific headspace that went on to color how I viewed the Kalm/Grasslands area as a whole.
I also lost my mother unexpectedly the year prior to release, so everything with Billy, Chloe, and the context of what the quest is having you do 100% made me cry.
Cloud and Tifa being cat parents was great. I also really liked Barret's sidequest he did finding Cloud Jr for those kids, great stuff in there. Nibelheim's Cloud and Yuffie one was really good too.
fluffy bow wow wow and taking pics of aerith
Kyrie mission where the “theres a new merc” song was playing
Probably the cat side quest in Nibelheim just for the ending where Cloud and Tifa get to actually talk about their past for a bit. That conversation is almost a prelude to the lifestream segment as Tifa finally gets to understand bit of how Cloud really felt as a kid, being very standoffish but not wanting to be alone. And it doesn’t overdo it so the lifestream segment still has room to talk about it.
going though with chapter select and doing all the side quests but they say i failed them
Pretty sure you have to finish the chapter for it to register
damn
Yea gotta finish the chapter for them to be marked complete. All those chapters are not too long tho can't cheese it.
i’m currently on chapter 8, and wondering if I should continue to do every side quest. i did. them all in chapter 3 and on one in chapter 8 called paying respects. i’m having a hard time with it because the enemies have a ton of health. is it worth continuing? i know it does something abt a character’s appearance later on or something. thanks in advance :D
Just to throw in my two cents, of course you shouldn’t force yourself to do it if you’re not enjoying yourself, but by completing all of the side quests in that chapter, that particular characters appearance in my opinion is the best one.
Not required. Play how you’ll enjoy it. Will you miss out on some minor stuff? Sure. But if you don’t enjoy them, don’t force yourself to do them.
i love the game, so i did it all
For me personally, half the fun in any FF game is doing the side quests and going on that extra bit of adventure. I reccomend everyone do it.
yeah, i rly wanna do it because i find them enjoyable. it’s just kinda tough
Just finished remake. About to fire up rebirth. I see lots of post about the tedium of side quests. I'm a bit worried about getting distracted/burned out which is something I easily fall prey too.
Is there a good guide out there sharing which side quests are worth doing and which ones are worth skipping?
I don't think all the side quests are equal, but some of them - a bunch of them, even - are really great for character relationship building. I mean literally, for the game's affection mechanic, but also, some of them are really just nice scenes that help you get to know them better.
Know that none of the sidequests are missable - you can always do them later, even at the end of the game (before the point of no return, that is - you'll know it when you get there.)
The ‘mellow out’ follow the dogs ones were strangely my favorite. Scenic and beautiful breaks from the norm.
I'm playing through rebirth for the first time currently. There are definitely parts that feel slow but the side quests add so much depth to the world and the characters. Most quests have one of the characters deeply involved and I find it cute and fun to see how they react. I'm a huge fan of the original and I'm just taking my time and enjoying it. Only get that first play feel once.
I will add that I am taking mini breaks and playing other games as well to space it out. Hope you enjoy it
IMO the side quests are pretty good in Rebirth. Much better than in Remake or XVI.
Getting 3 stars on all the mini games can be tedious. I Just get 1 star and move on if you are not feeling the mini game
The green side quests are better because they bring more lore and complicity with your crew.
The Chadley side quests are a huge drag though. Most of the time you just run around chasing goose. From time to time it's a long mini game that you enjoy once and have to repeat 4 times!! And there are the times you just don't want to bother doing it at all. Especially to have Chadley say "it's been a while you haven't BLA BLA BLA" Dude! I finished the area already!
And then you have to get 3 stars for completion. God help us.
There's a difference between side quests and world Intel. When people are talking about burn out it's usually referring to the world Intel.
You don't need a guide or a reddit post to tell you what to do. Once you start playing you clearly see what you wanna do vs what you don't wanna do.
Nice ok ty. Already begun. Walking down memory lane presently.
Just played what’s fun, and when it’s not fun, do main quest.
I'm playing Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth for PS5 and I am trying to do all the side quests for the game, but I just cannot do it anymore. I have spent about 111 hours on this game and there are still more side quests to do, but I just don't want to do them anymore. I have other games that I want to play, so I think I will just play the main story and beat the game.
Has anyone else feel this way with games that have too many side quests that you get burned out? Side quests are fun, but too many of them can ruin the whole experience.
That's the one thing I hate about many JRPGs (and many games in general): when I progress through the story, and suddenly, 12 "New Sidequest Available!" markers appear on the map.
Most of them just amount to "Talk to this person, run to all of the Objective Markers, maybe fight two enemies or a boss if you're really lucky." And I have to do all of them, in case they have some good rewards or are necessary to unlock some more quests later on.
Quest boards are the worst, because you know the sidequests are just going to be "find 12 generic items" or "kill 20 monsters" which poses zero challenge and is just a huge waste of time.
Quality is really more important than quantity with sidequests. Chrono Trigger's endgame is the king, with its sidequests that feature unique dungeons, bosses, and give the party important character development.
I usually get burned out on side quests and I don't even aim to do them all lol. I'll set out doing a healthy amount in a game like xenoblade, then halfway through just stop doing any and mainline the story because I just wanna reach the end.
Gumball: NOOOO! A super-tedious sidequest that preys on every gamer's weakness!
Anais: Tortilla chips and sugary drinks?
Darwin: The sun?
Gumball: No, the compulsive need to complete every game to one hundred percent!
I have this with SMTVV. Way too many dull side quests.
I felt the same with Rebirth. I did the quests in each area as they happened. Then at the end of the game, when you can freely travel anywhere and more quests open up at all previous locations, I nope'd out of it and went to the final dungeon. There is nothing wrong with skipping things if you're growing tired of the game.
I'm currently playing through Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and i am loving the game, i just got done with the story at cosmo canyon and after i'm done with bahamut and the protorelic quest i'm planning on backtracking and tackling some of the previous protorelic quests that i conveniently didn't do before heading to nibelheim.
I know that i won't probably want to do all of the missed quests before continuing with the story so just to be sure i wanted to ask, what is the last possible point to do the sidequests? I know that there's going to be a "point of no return" before the final chapter somewhere so i'd like to generally know where that point is so i know when to tie up loose ends/make an extra save. I've played the original so i know where the story is generally heading but please don't spoil any Rebirth exclusive story beats. Thanks.
Chapter 13 has a point of no return prompt.
In chapters 12 and 13, the world opens up via ocean travel. You can then go back to all previous areas. If you go where the story tells you to go in chapter 13, there will be a point where it warns you that you can't go back if you choose to land at that place.
Chapter 12 will be your opportunity to cleanup and do it all 👍
Relax, the game lets you know when that happens, and it’s near the end (you still have a long way to go).
Chapter 13 but I recommend doing the side quests in chapter 12 as >!Cait Sith leaves the party in chapter 13!<
I was wondering if it already if I skip all the side quest if not almost all of them because from I what I heard this game can take over 100 hours to complete if I do all the side quest. So far I’m at chapter 5 and 10 hour into the game and I plan to beat it in average of 40-50. Edit- No spoiler please and I plan to play 13-2 and lighting return after I’m done with this game.
Side quests are called side quests precisely because they are skippable/optional.
Would they affect gameplay if I do it? Sorry, this is my first final fantasy so I’m a total noob.
The difficulty curve of the game is structured in a way that assumes you'll do a few of the side quests when they become available in chapter 11. If you skip all the sidequests and push on with the story, you'll be a little underdeveloped for the subsequent area.
If your strategies are good, this will barely cause a blip--you might have to equip some defensive accessories or adopt a somewhat more defensive paradigm deck. However, a lot of players end up grinding around this point in the game. If you feel like you'd want to grind, I encourage you to do some of the sidequests.
I don't think you get side quests until chapter 11. Those are optional hunt missions and they really just get you extra items and CP. You don't have to do them but they will sometimes give you decent items
You do get some very useful items from the harder side quests, but you really can’t do those until post-game anyway.
Doing a couple of them before leaving the wide open area will make the difference between a challenging endgame and a very neutral difficulty of endgame. But there’s really no way for you to do so many side quests that you’re overpowered. The side quests are harder than the story, for the most part. And some of them are superbosses.
I would say that you should experience them. Speaking about the Cieth Missions, the Titan trials and so on. While these specific FFXIII quests dont have a lot of story related stuff (they have lore that appears when you accept the missions and they do have a connection with the lore/world of FFXIII), they do have unique-looking enemies. Since they are designed to be hard, if you are enjoying the combat/gameplay but you are stumped its ok if you look strategies about how beating them. My point is that you should at least try those fights.
Lastly, I would say that you should really do them in FFXIII-2 and FFXIII-3 because they do add quite a lot to the story.
Side quests don't add anything to the story if that's what your asking.
Just so you know, it's XIII. Roman numerals is uppercase i, not a lowercase l.
Yeah I know I just didn’t bother with it too much.
Most of the sidequests are after you beat the game, so if you want to stop after the final boss, that's totally up to you.
So I'm going head to agate city and I know I will be trapped there until reborn is restored so can y'all tell me every side quests I can only complete before reborn being restored.
Theres a really in depth walkthrough you can use online that shows everything like secret items, Pokémon like events/wild grass encounters, and every quest in the game. The way I usually used it so I wouldn’t get spoiled since it’s set up by chapters is by going through an area then using the guide to go back and get everything that I thought would be really useful!
How to complete all side quests in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Here are some key considerations for completing all side quests in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth:
Explore Thoroughly: Side quests are often hidden in various locations. Make sure to explore every area, talk to NPCs, and check for any glowing icons or markers that indicate a quest.
Follow the Main Story: Some side quests may become available only after progressing through the main storyline. Keep advancing the plot to unlock new quests.
Check Your Journal: Use the in-game journal to track active side quests. This will help you keep tabs on what you’ve completed and what still needs attention.
Pay Attention to Dialogue: NPCs often provide hints or clues about side quests. Listen carefully to their conversations to uncover potential quests.
Utilize Guides: If you're having trouble finding specific quests or completing them, consider using online guides or walkthroughs. They can provide detailed locations and strategies.
Complete All Character-Specific Quests: Some side quests are tied to specific characters. Make sure to complete these to fully develop character arcs and gain unique rewards.
Timing Matters: Certain quests may only be available during specific chapters or after certain events. Keep track of your progress and revisit areas as needed.
Recommendation: To ensure you don’t miss any side quests, consider playing through the game at a leisurely pace, taking time to explore each area fully. Engaging with all NPCs and completing side quests as they become available will enhance your overall experience and provide valuable rewards.
