TL;DR To unlock all cutscenes, focus on replaying specific chapters and making key decisions. Chapters 3 and 8 are crucial for unlocking resolution scenes, while other chapters may influence dress choices and additional content.
Resolution Scenes
Unlocking the resolution scenes in Chapter 14 requires strategic replaying of earlier chapters. Players have found success by focusing primarily on Chapters 3 and 8. For example, replaying Chapter 3 with all side quests completed and Chapter 8 with no side quests can lead to a Tifa resolution scene [1:1]. Conversely, skipping certain interactions in these chapters can result in Aerith or Barret's scenes
[1:2]. It's important to note that interactions in Chapter 2 and decisions made during side quests can also impact which resolution scene you receive
[1:3].
Dress Choices and Manuscripts
For those aiming to unlock all dresses and manuscripts, the strategy involves completing specific side quests and making particular choices during playthroughs. On your first playthrough, focus on Tifa's side quests to unlock her Sporty or Exotic dress [3]. In subsequent playthroughs, adjust your approach to complete different quest lines and ensure you engage in both quest lines on hard mode to collect all manuscripts
[3:2].
Cinematic Cutscenes
While players often express a desire for more cinematic cutscenes, it's important to differentiate between in-game cutscenes and pre-rendered CGI cinematics. The game includes several cinematic moments, but they are interspersed with interactive gameplay sequences [2:1]. Some players appreciate the balance between gameplay and storytelling, while others wish for more CGI scenes
[2:2]
[2:7].
Additional Tips
To efficiently unlock all cutscenes, dresses, and manuscripts, consider creating a checklist of decisions and side quests to track your progress across multiple playthroughs. Additionally, watching guides or walkthroughs can provide insights into optimizing your strategy and ensuring you don't miss any critical content [4:1]
[5:5].
I have a loose idea of what decisions throughout the game influence the scene. But is there a step-by-step guide somewhere on how to get all 3 while replaying as few chapters as possible?
Can i just replay 3, 8 and 10 and ignore all the other chapters, just then skipping to 14?
Do I have to also replay 2 or will the sidequest decisions override how nice i was to aerith when I first meet her?
And what about barret? Is there nothing i can do to turn the tides to his favor if i was already nice to aerith on the street?
I know the safest way to ensure hit all the factors would be to replay the entire game up until 14, but surely there’s a more efficient way
I only replayed chapters 3 and 8. 3 All, 8 nothing=Tifa. 3 Nothing, 8 all=Aeris. 3 Nothing, 8 nothing=Barret. I hope it works for you.
So you didn’t replay and finish chapter 2 where you decide whether or not to take aerith’s flower? Or 9 where you’re asked by Sam to describe tifa and asked by Aerith if her dress looks nice? And you skipped replaying 10 where you have to choose who to help up first after you fall into the sewers?
My experience was the same as /u/CCCarter87 Skipped all chapters except 3 and 8 in replays and got all 3 scenes in Chapter 14 that way.
EDIT: Misspoke, sorry. No chapter 9. Got it mixed up with the dresses
Exactly, Just replayed chapters 3 and 8 all the time, and then select chapter 14 to see the results.
Hey bro what happens if I just legit play chapter 8 first then chapter 3? Does that still work cause I'm halfway through chapter I and I wanna do chapter 3 again and do nothing.
Don’t you have to do some of the side quests in three to get Tifas dress choice though? I feel like I’ll have replay these chapters two more times to get the dress and the resolution I need.
I’m nitpicking at this point so please don’t judge, I love this game 😂
But I was suprised there wasn’t more cinematic cutscenes in this game, like the scene with Tifa at the Corel reactor, I think instead of making it interactive I would of loved to have been a cinematic.
Can anyone actually remember how many cinematic cutscenes were in the game?
Just replaying on hard mode and just now realizing that there's actually a huge amount of cutscenes now that I'm easing out of the honeymoon period so I'm gonna have to go with no.
It's a game first and foremost and the subject matter is not as heavy as in something like Metal gear to be spending that much time on cutscenes. I'd rather that the story was mostly something I could experience by actually playing the game.
At least almost all cutscenes are shippable
Cutscenes aren't the same thing as cinematics.
Most of the cutscenes use the ingame graphics, but there are a few cutscenes that are fully pre-rendered CG cinematics. You can usually tell because Cloud's equipped weapon changed to the Buster Sword.
OP is saying he wishes there were more of the CG cutscenes.
Ah I see. I misunderstood what they meant. I did notice that there weren't that many CGI scenes as well. I have no doubt that they'll go all out in them in part 3 however since even in the OG , disc 3 had the largest amount of cutscenes.
That’s because XVI had no CGI cutscenes. There’s only some pre-rendered scenes with background CGI effects. XVI is beautiful but I would have loved to see CGI cutscenes on par with the quality seen in XIV trailers and the cutscenes from the XIII trilogy.
Weirdly enough, I didn't really liked the CGI Cinematics very much. They look very different from the rest of the game, both in character models and art direction, even the post processing?
I do think that the in-game cutscenes in Remake were a little notch above the ones in Rebirth
They made em look low-key Asian in the face during cinematics but throughout gameplay everybody is white except Barret and Yuffie obviously lol
I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice, lol. This has been going ever since FF10 if I recall correctly. The characters would suddenly turn totally asian in CGI cutscenes, which I always found charming lol.
But on 4k/Full HD Games like Remake/Rebirth where the characters already do emote during in-game cutscenes, the difference is jarring lol.
Barret is a funny example because in the CGI Cutscenes he turns basically into a docile cat or something, guy looks cute and adorable lol
Idk man, Tifa looks pretty Asian to me too. I think the only white people are Cloud and Aerith (but I guess it'd be a little weird if the hero and heroine also happened to be the only white people, so maybe I'm wrong.) That said, everyone definitely looks MORE Asian in cinematics.
Same. I wouldn't it looks bad or worse than in game but my main issue is that because the CG cutscenes aren't bound to game engine/hardware restraints, they have more wiggle room when it comes to lighting and how surfaces react to lighting, which in turn they can put in more detail and that can lead to different colour values for certain objects (an example is Cloud's hair. His hair is more shinny that the in-game model). I also think there is a softness, blooms, and airbrush look to the cutscene, which there isn't anything wrong, it's just again different to the in game stuff where there isn't nearly as much light blooms. This is particullarly true for the face of characters, they look more airbrushed compared to the in-game models. To me it's not so much the CG cutscene is bad as it is more the CG and in-game don't match that well. The sweet spot for me is probably pulling back the quality of the CG renders (think in game cutscenes but with better hair and cloth simulations) and I still think a good example is the opening for Kingdom Hearts 0.2. It's still looks like it could be rendered out in-game but there are a lot of effects and simulations that give it that extra punch a CG cutscene can have that in-game can't.
Yep, just finished it and I was absolutely blown away with how that looked. I've played a lot of video games and that one was by far the best looking cutscene I've ever seen.
Last cinematic of the game. It looked uncanny.
Please, correct me if I’m wrong on any of this, or add ideas in the comments!
Let’s face it, getting all those achievements and stuff is a pain but it’s actually something I’m trying to do (which is something I’ve never done before, that’s how much I love this game!).
So, first playthrough (Normal), do all of the Tifa side quests and choose either her Sporty or Exotic dress (not Mature!). Then, do only 3-4 of the Aerith side quests in chapter 8 (?), snagging her middle dress. In chapter 9, don’t do any of the sidequests. In the sewers, pick Tifa to get her extra scene later.
Second playthrough (Hard mode). Do all of the Tifa side quests again, choosing whichever of the two you didn’t pick before (again, not Mature!), while also snagging those much needed manuscripts. Then with Aerith, do all her missions to get her best dress and those manuscripts as well. In chapter 9, do either Sam or Madame M’s quests, getting Cloud’s second dress and one set of manuscripts. In the sewers, pick Aerith to break that tie and get her scene.
Last playthrough, doing whichever mode you want (maybe normal or easy to make it go faster). Go for speed. Don’t do any sidequests with Tifa, getting her default Mature dress. Don’t do any of Aerith’s, getting her worst dress. However, on Chapter 9, change to Hard mode and do whichever of the quests you didn’t do last time (either Sam or Madame M’s), to get that manuscript. After, you can change back to whichever mode you were playing before. The lack of attention to either girl hopefully nets you Barret’s scene later.
No, you don’t have to play through the whole game all three times. You just have to play completely through Hard mode once to get that achievement. After that, just replay whichever chapter you need on whatever mode you’re missing.
I’m not sure how the Coliseum or training center fits into all this. Do you get manuscripts for participating in Hard mode? If so, do that on your second playthrough when Tifa and Barret are with you to get those.
Please, let me know if I got anything wrong or if I should add stuff!
Edit: changed the order of obtaining Cloud’s dresses per u/sempercardinal57. Thank you!
I wouldn’t do any side quests in chapter 9 on your first playthrough since you have to do both quest lines at least once on hard to get all the manuscripts. Might as well ignore them both your first time through
Oh good idea! Thank you! I’ll change it :)
You can’t ignore the girls in the sewers I think so you will need to go get points for Barret throughout the chapters
Good to know! Thank you ☺️
I waited almost 5 years after release to play this and I wasn’t disappointed. 90 hours enjoyably spent, especially after playing both OG FF7 and Crisis Core last year. I screamed at my TV more than once while attempting Yuffie and Sonon vs Top Secrets. After that, I had a surprisingly easy time with Weiss.
I’m going back to PS3 to platinum a few old games, but I’m watching Rebirth, just waiting for it to go on sale again so I can jump back into this world. I don’t know if I have it in my to go earn Rebirth’s platinum but I’ll sure as hell try, and I’ll be ready for Part 3 at launch.
I’m stuck with the Yuffie vs Top Secret fight for two days now. Which guide did you follow?
https://youtu.be/50XJg68HJMw?si=AcM3gpVceZddRKT3
I tried to use a pure aggression no healing approach but I couldn’t execute that strategy consistently. A safe setup suits my lack of skill much better.
I just beat it after complaining here 😅 that was the hardest fight. My thumbs are all sore now
I gave up on this coz my power went out in the middle of the Pride and Joy fight and I didn't save, so ive gotta go back and do some combat challenges again.
Congratulations🔥
FF7 OG is my favorite game of all time and I have a plat for rebirth but getting the plat is brutal. Good luck🏆
Congrats! Now get ready for Rebirth.. and good luck!
I'm interested in the series and this is free on ps+, do you think it's a good place to start the series?
It’s got a great combat system, characters and world, so the answer could be yes. But I always recommend that people play the original FF7 before this. Without spoiling anything, Remake is kind of a misnomer for this game. The story that FF7 Remake tells is more like a sequel than an actual 1-to-1 retelling of the original story. If you’re at all interested in turn-based JRPGs and can handle the PS1 graphics, then you should play OG FF7 before you play FF7 Remake. I think having that context will make the overall story more interesting to you, although my nostalgia for the original certainly plays a role in my recommendation.
I’m never sure if this whole spiel actually helps anyone make a decision. You have free access to the game so go ahead and give it a try. If you get a few hours in and get curious about the original, then pick that up too, I think it’s usually $16 and well worth it at that price. Either way, I hope you find an entry point to Final Fantasy that works for you! There are also a free demoes of FF14 (the MMO) and FF16.
Thank you so much, I will give it a try then! :) appreciate the in-depth response!
Introduction

One of the most frequently asked questions I see about Final Fantasy XV is something like "How do I experience this game? What order do I play the DLC in? When do I watch the anime?" This guide is my attempt to help answers those questions and to present a playthrough order that will give players the most well rounded and complete experience of the game. In addition to the game's DLC & multimedia, the story is also presented in a more non-linear fashion than previous games in the series. There are several dungeons, cutscenes and character interactions that can be missed if one simply goes through the main story quests. The Royal Arms dungeons and camp site cutscenes are all included here. My hope that this breakdown can help lend itself to a more full experience of the story whether you're a returning player or this is your first time with the game. Please feel free to give comments or pointers on how this guide might be improved or where I may have made any errors. This is my first attempt at any sort of guide for anything, so hopefully it's not horrible. Some things to address beforehand:

Let me know if there's anything I can improve or correct, hopefully this can help someone out there!

EDIT 1: I added a section about the multiplayer expansion, Comrades. I also added the unlockable camp site cutscenes, dispersed throughout where they would naturally occur while exploring in the story. Other than that just minor editing and cleaning up. Thanks everyone or all your great suggestions!

EDIT 2: Added the option to read the prologue novel "Parting Ways." Also streamlined and clarified some things, especially in regards to Episode Ignis & Episode Ardyn. Also added a Chapter 15 post game section!

EDIT 3: Added more thanks and acknowldgements as well as a note about the Platinum Demo. Also added some more post-game content suggestions.

EDIT 4: Added A King's Tale to the prologue section. Simplified and streamlined a lot of stuff, especially when to play Episode Ignis, making it more safe for first time players not to get spoiled. Thanks to u/Arrion_Eldaciel
"There is however, one missable cutscene involving Lunafreya. When prompted by Ardyn, stop at the outpost to rest. Go up to the radio that everyone's gathered around and listen to it to unlock the cutscene."
I did this way back when but i dint remember a cutscene. What was it? Anyonr have a link?
You have to kind of hang around the radio for a bit before it triggers. I missed it too on my first 2 playthroughs. Here’s a link to the scene itself:
Got it, thanks. I actually did see this scene in my playthrough.
What about the story material for Comrades? Comrades itself is grindy, but the story and speaking with the characters gives you more information about what's going on past Chapter 13 once Noctis is sleeping in the crystal. You get to see redemption regarding the Kingsglaive after their acts in the movie.
I know there isn't a ton of story, but there is some good things here. You also get to see Libertus and Noctis waking up on Angelgard.
Thank you for your input!
I’m going to edit it in at the start of chapter 14 and make it a note as optional, and at the least suggest watching the cutscenes on YouTube or something.
How long would you say a story play through of comrades is? I feel I should note that so people can decide for themselves about pacing
I'm really not sure. I don't remember exactly what the story missions were or what level they were. I don't think it takes that much grinding and weapon customization to complete it. I believe my avatar was only level 30 or so when I did the Bahamut fight.
SE really should have integrated the DLC with the main game after EPA came out
This is great! Nice work.
Thank you!
Thank you OP. A+ work
Thank u so much!
I am trying to figure out how to get all the scenes in floor 10 and feel like I am missing a whole bunch. I have completed the main story and used the fate sheets on the winter node and the last node but can’t seem to find where some of the scenes are from videos I have seen online. If anyone could offer their experience that would be great.
How far through have you gotten after using the shears on the Winter Node? Is it up to the point where the last node you've unlocked is where the dojo has surrendered?
Yeah everyone surrendered and that’s it
I played Rebirth when it first was released, and I loved the story, but quickly grew frustrated with all the mini games, side quests, etc. I’m now doing another playthrough, and since I don’t have all the pressure to mainline the story, I can really enjoy the game. I don’t mind doing all the world data stuff, or the fiend fights, or chocobo stops, etc.
Apparently the secret is just taking your time. Who knew? 😂
Yep. I adore Rebirth. The mini games could be frustrating at times, but I did feel a nice personal sense of accomplishment when I beat them. I really enjoyed gathering data for the areas too. Remake is still my favourite but Rebirth is a very close second. I think as long as you go into it without trying to rush through, it can be really fun and satisfying. I'm glad you found you enjoyed it more when you slowed down.
Yup. The game is supposed to not be played with a 100% mindset on the first playthrough. Ch 12 heavily punishes it anyway. The mini games and checkpoint exploration is only tedious because of the pressure to move the (IMO insanely good) story along. I guess platinuming is a different story though. But honestly all the extra content is a blast without the pressure from the main story.
>Apparently the secret is just taking your time. Who knew?
The obsession with completionism ruined a lot of players’ enjoyment of the game.
I don’t have a lot of free time anymore as an adult so I just stayed in a region until I got bored. And then I moved on. I also never unlocked another chadley tower after the first two and just explored the maps naturally.
Took me a long time to get my platinum trophy, but I never experienced the kind of anger that some players say they felt. Just play at your own pace and if you aren’t having fun with a challenge, just turn the game off and do something else.
The anger doesn't come from the presence of minigames but the fact that some of them are MANDATORY to progress in the MAIN quest.
We don't mind that there are minigames as long as we're not forced to play them. Because we came here to play final fantasy. Not minigames.
Costa del Sol has a lot of tedious and mandatory minigames to collect vouchers to exchange for beach clothes to progress in the main quest. Gold saucer has mandatory minigames but at least you can quit them and lose and move on in the main quest.
FF7 OG has a ton of minigames. Saying you came here to play Final Fantasy and not minigames means you didn’t play the OG. Old FF games were stuffed full of little minigames and puzzles to either let you have goof around or just supplement the gameplay.
And those mandatory minigames you are talking about at Costa Del Sol and Gold Saucer are intentional to the plot. Those are vacation spots where the party is meant to have fun and bond. For crying out loud, it’s a beach town and an amusement park!
Tell me, what would it have looked like for the game to have those areas be nothing but glorified eye candy without stuff to do. You might be happy, but I guarantee you that there would be plenty of complaints from other players about how Square didn’t even bother trying to add things to do.
Also, none of those mandatory mingames take particularly long to finish. I suspect you, like many players, are a victim of taking too long to get Rank 3 rewards or something. All of them take less than 5 minutes each at most.
I'm still on Remake playing through on Hard mode.
There are so many little things in the design of the game. I was trying to figure out which chapters to do first initially, but then found out I couldn't get the second elemental materia (which I missed on my normal mode file) unless you complete all of the quests leading up to that point. So I just decided to do them in order lol.
I'm currently trying to do the Hell House fight and it's tough. I'll probably tackle that today sometime to get through it lol.
Honestly, I thought it was super smart to cram a bunch of replayable stuff into the part of the game where everything is how we remember before the final darker chapter where things get real serious. It makes you want to relive the adventures when everyone was alive and getting along.
Sure it's annoying on launch day when everyone is rushing to find out what happens before some random YouTube thumbnail or reddit post threatens to ruin everything and then BAM! A mini game comes to slow you down before you can experience things for yourself...
But after that, on second play through, go back and see all the extra Lore they're putting in to things you can miss. It's brilliant
So I restarted ffx on my ps2 and my ps2 broke right after I got out of Luca so now I'm debating buying the remaster for switch..please tell me I can skip cutscenese in remaster because I really don't wanna go through all that again to catch up to where I was 😭😭
If you have a pc (even a cheap laptop), take it on PC ! There’s a mod to speed up the game to x8) and I think the new version can skip cut scene Check it
Negative. All 8.5 hours of them are there for your viewing pleasure…but it is pretty epic. I just finished it and now grinding playing blitzball tile I die.
I still kinda don't mind them, but after so many playthroughs the sphere grid tutorial is killing me. XD
Ahh. I just wanna play I only get 1 day off a week and and the cut scenes that I literally just watched, really take up valuable time.
I was able to skip the tutorial for the sphere grid on the remastered version with my Switch.
That stuff is just from leveling up. Memoria can be earned just by clearing AI battles and leveling up from them, so basically just Gauntlet Mode.
You can unlock them by playing against AI. I don't think that needs any server connection.
Yeah, you can unlock cutscenes with offline battles just fine. I’ve never played online.
Just play the game. You get memoria tokens as long as you play matches, regardless of whether or not it's online.
Network service is only relevant for online matchmaking. And the arcade version no longer receiving additional content updates is not an end-all sign for the home port. Network services go down eventually for the majority of MP games. Don't go confusing the completion of content updates for an end of service.
YouTube
Huh. Isthereanydeal states that humble bundle has FF7:Rebirth currently at an all time low of 34.99, but I see it as $42 with $2.10 back. Am I missing something? is the website considering a full humble choice discount or something?
I have the full Humble discount and I see the price as $35.69. Not sure how it gets to $34.99.
My assumption is that Humble put them up with the wrong discounts, corrected them right away, and the algorithm didn't update for whatever reason
This is probably as good as it'll get for steam prices but I'll wait for the next Greenmangaming sale since those tend to have the best prices for Square enix games.
I’m brazilian and the last nuuvem sale they added square enix games and I think all of them hit new lows because all the cupoms nuuvem has. gmg is pretty good as well.
> nuuvem
I haven't really kept track of them, I'll have to give them a look next time I'm hoping to buy a Squeenix game. ;P
5 years from now Actraiser Renaissance will still be 15 dollars i think XD
Depending on game you might want to check Humble's store to, as some of them like the Dragon Quest games are at all time lows there.
I wish Square Enix was more like Capcom and would just discount their games way more heavily. I think it's ridiculous to pay $15 for a 10-yo game, or 30-yo remake.
Not to mention their many Overwhelmingly Negative games aren't just sold for pennies.
Rant Over.
Anyways - I'm here to shill for Dragon Quest Builders series. I never understood Minecraft/open-world building games. The Builder series are based on the original DQ games, and follow a narrative story, which made it so much more approachable for me.
Kingdom hearts store page says its part of the sale but theres no price discount lol
New all time low for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, as well as a few others at lower-than-usual Squenix sale prices.
I might be tempted to get this since the switch 2 version will be $40, only thing is I don’t enjoy playing controller on my pc since it doesn’t feel the same as console
How to unlock all the cutscenes in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
To unlock all the cutscenes in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, consider the following tips:
Complete Main Story Missions: Progress through the main storyline as cutscenes are often tied to specific story events. Make sure to finish all chapters to experience the full narrative.
Side Quests: Engage in side quests and optional missions. Many cutscenes are unlocked by completing these additional tasks, which often provide deeper character development and lore.
Character Interactions: Explore the world and interact with various NPCs. Some cutscenes are triggered by conversations or specific actions in the game.
Collectibles and Secrets: Look for collectibles, such as items or lore entries, that may unlock additional cutscenes or enhance your understanding of the story.
Replay Chapters: If you miss any cutscenes, check if the game allows you to replay chapters or specific segments to view missed content.
Check Game Menus: Some games have a cutscene gallery or log in the menu where you can view unlocked cutscenes. This can help you track what you’ve missed.
Recommendation: Focus on thorough exploration and completing all available quests to ensure you unlock every cutscene. This not only enriches your experience but also provides a comprehensive understanding of the story and characters.
