TL;DR
Raid Release Date
The release date for the raid associated with The Final Shape DLC is anticipated to be shortly after the DLC itself launches. Historically, raids have been released on the Friday following the DLC launch week, but it appears that Bungie may be pushing for an earlier release this time around due to storyline considerations [2:1]. Multiple comments suggest June 7th as the likely date
[2:8]
[2:10].
Story Completion Without Raid
A significant concern among players is whether completing the raid is necessary to finish the story of The Final Shape. Bungie has clarified that while the confrontation with The Witness will occur in the raid, non-raiders will still be able to experience the climax of the story through a separate mission or activity. This ensures that all players can enjoy the narrative conclusion without needing a raid team [4:2]
[4:3]
[4:5].
Raid Requirements and Preparation
To participate in the raid, players should ensure they meet certain requirements, such as reaching a light level of 1965 [3:2]. Additionally, completing campaign steps up to a certain point may be necessary, though specifics are still emerging
[3].
Community Concerns and Clarifications
There has been some confusion and concern within the community about the necessity of a raid team to see the story's end. However, Bungie's communication suggests that while the raid offers a deeper challenge and perhaps a more traditional "true fight," the main campaign will provide a satisfying conclusion accessible to all players [4:8]
[4:10].
Speculation on Raid Length
While there is interest in whether The Final Shape will feature the longest raid ever, details remain speculative at this stage. The number of encounters and the overall length are yet to be confirmed by Bungie [5:5].
So I'm seeing a lot of players running around with guardian ranks above 7, but part of getting past that is completing the final shape campaign. My campaign step is just a countdown to the raid. Am i missing something? I feel like I'm missing something that should be obvious lol how are people completing the campaign?
It shows the highest rank you’ve reached in past seasons I believe
Idk, I've been to rank 10 but mine started this season at like 6. Even last season I was at 8
It displays last season’s rank if it’s higher than your current one
For example I am 6 now but last season I reached 9 so it’s displaying 9 until next season, if I reach 10 it will increase immediately and will also be displayed next season too
basically the higher number will be displayed and linger for two seasons, unless you surpass it
Idk where exactly you can see your rank history and your display led rank, the menu has been changed but it’s in the journey tap somewhere
It will still start you at 6 in the journey menu at the beginning of every season. But the number next to your name will still be 10 I think. If you have someone to play with ask them what number it says next to your name.
I know the Final Shape DLC is coming out on June 4th but does anyone know what date the actual raid will release
No bungie has stated the official launch date. But given how previous raids have launched, my guess would be Friday, June 14th. That's just my guess.
LOL NOPE JUNE 7TH!!!!
no. June 7th
Normally it’s the Friday after launch week
LOL NOPE JUNE 7TH 🤣🤣
after final shape
June 6th i think
Not a chance. That's just 2 days after launch. Give it a week or two.
I think they said they'd wanna release it earlier because its going to finish the campaign
HAHAAA JUNE 7TH
It’s basically always the 2nd weekend, but apparently they announced that this one will be the first weekend. There’s some storyline stuff they need to push along quickly.
i did the campaign to step 31 and wild card mission was that all or anything else wanted to make sure?
Be 1965 light level
Does that include or exclude the artifact?
So not only is final shape only having a measly 7 story missions, but if you don’t have a raid team you just don’t get to finish the story.
I mean I hopefully this will push more people to use an lfg system and we can have more people get to have an ending to the story and not just watch it on YouTube
I’m aware this news dropped a few days ago wasn’t fully caught up with the news cycle
All due respect, but you're basically completely wrong. TFS will very specifically have a conclusion that is available and playable by all players and NOT just people who can raid. This has already been clarified specifically because of concerns about how past expansions have featured a conclusion that was locked behind a raid
Bungie has already confirmed that the confrontation with The Witness will take place in The Final Shape's raid, but also promised that non-raiders will experience the climax of the story in full, including the defeat of The Witness. (Assuming we win, of course.) Blackburn says that the denouement won't just be a cut-scene. He explains that whereas The Witch Queen and Lightfall campaigns each had eight missions, The Final Shape will ship with seven "on day one". The implication being that the eighth mission unlocks for everyone once the raid has been beaten. He also indicates that the format of that mission will be different to the boss encounters against Savathun and Calus from previous campaigns. "When we did The Witness it just didn't pass the sniff test, so we knew we needed a different strategy."
So basiclly everyone gets to kill the witness (assuming we win obviously) but the raid is like “true fight” type of thing where yes you do defeat them in the main campaign and it’s different and hard and awesome but the raid is like the “actual way” but both player types are able to get a defeat on the witness… im hesitantly optimistic about that just cause this is bungie we’re taking about
What’s prob gonna happen is we weaken the witness in the raid or something along those lines, then the final campaign mission opens where he gets truly defeated.
Calm your outrage, I think in an interview somebody said that when the raid is beaten, a final activity or mission opens where everyone experiences the ending.
If I’m reading what your saying correctly
once the raid is beaten as in ANYONE beating it like a first clear is done a event becomes available so that everyone can experience the actual ending regardless of raid completion ?
Have you read literally anything about Final Shape.
Joe said, in like 5 different ways, INCLUDING IN THE MAIN REVEAL ITSELF, this isn't the case.
Raid team is not necessary to see the story end.
Also, shocker, you have to play content? To see the end?
In the main reveal I forget her name but she explicitly states that the witness is a raid boss and there is no other ending that is satisfying than kill the witness the big bad we’ve been waiting to fight for so long so idk what joe means by what he said
Did you play The Taken King? The story missions ended with a pretty cool fight against Oryx where you force him to retreat to his Throne World. You'd have to run King's Fall if you wanted to see him Kaiju-sized or to send him spiraling down toward Saturn, but just playing the story missions still gave you a satisfying fight against the boss of the expansion.
I mean… about 83% of the player base has never even finished a single raid encounter and bungie knows that so idk why they’d do that
I love when we just pull random false statisitics out of thin air
Stay mad dude. Keep finding shit to be upset about. Learn to read.
cause that would be cool and if so how many encounters would it be
Yea let me just boot up my Vex technology and go into the year 2024 to check
Literally how is anybody supposed to know. Who is the question directed at. Bungie themselves wouldn't even know since it's literally 2 years from now.
ok
My guy, you need to stop being so obsessed with raids that don’t exist.
Your post history is hilarious, just talking about the same things. Try live in the now rather than constantly spoiling stuff for yourself.
One sec, let me grab my Crystal Ball...
Can I get some lotto numbers while you're at it?
Your lucky numbers are 6, 9, 4, and 20
ok
It could be and I would assume that it will have several encounters.
Please seriously? we dont know nothing about next raid and you are asking about a raid that we'll see around 2024! 🤦♂️
I finished the campaign, I think. I got the cutscene. Then the cutscene where I sit in front of the traveler. I waited for about 5 mins, after Ikora and all them finished talking and skipped the cutscene. Game crashed. Then bitted up next day, threw me into the Echoes quest mission immediately. Now I go to the helm, and I got the warning message saying I didn’t finish the campaign. I don’t have the campaign quest anymore so… I have the sword, Goldie sniper, Hunter Chest piece for Prismatic. I don’t have khvostov. Or whatever other new exotics r out as I just started the new… Season?… I did check my triumphs to see that the campaign tab is missing a triumphs. Says I haven’t discovered it. Nor did I finish the find all the ghosts quest from Micah. Is that y?
Far right of the pale heart map, to the right of the salvation edge raid mission you will find the final mission..... (it's good)
The 12 man mission? I already did that. Unless u mean I gotta do it again, or complete the actual raid.
Try talking to ikora
Did you do all the pale heart quests that give you the rest of your prismatic abilities?
Everything but the Fragments are unlocked. I’m missing like 70% of the fragments
Nah that’s not it then. Idk man, sorry I can’t help.
The only reason I thought maybe those quests would be it is because they take place before the raid but after the main campaign story wise. The fragments don’t have any story aspects to them.
I'm guessing it didn't process the Excision mission ending for you. If you go to launch it, is the only option "Narrative" ? If so, you'll have to run it again. If the replay difficulty is on the mission then you should just have to talk to ghost in the pale heart.
In case I need to specify, I got the actual ENDING cutscene. The one where u sit with your ghost on a ship, in front of the traveler and have Crow talk to Zavala about investigating the paracausal blips that flew to Nessus. Yet, it still says I didn’t complete the Campaign when I went to the helm
What if you land at the Tower instead?
Sorry if this has been asked, I have not seen a definitive answer yet. I know supposedly a solo way to finish the campaign is coming. Do we know when? I want to finish the story before doing the episodes. I am a pretty bad newb and don’t want to do the raid, and I hear matchmaking is bad….i would prob be one of the bad players lol.
Also do we know what kind of solo mission it will be?
The excision activity is the "ending" of the story, and takes place after the raid. You do not need to have personally cleared the raid to see the ending.
Thank you everyone for the quick replies. I thought it was the raid but I see it says mission. I appreciate it!
It is very cool too! And I could do it and I've never raided!
The solo way is there. Play the campaign through on normal then start the mission on the far right of the Pale Heart. It’s called Excision and will pair you with 11 other Guardians to defeat the Witness
It's a 12 man matchmade mission tats outs already, called excision.
The raid is not required. Just the normal campaign missions and the new 12 man activity that opened once the worlds first groups beat the raid.
If you are having trouble with Iconoclasm or Dissent and aren't restricted because of (lack of) PS+, use fireteam finder. Don't feel bad even on the normal difficulty version. Iconoclasm sucks solo.
Hi, I'm kind of new to destiny and I heard about the new raid, but I couldn't figure out how or where to start them. I searched online and couldn't find anything, so does anyone know to start the new raid or any in general?
Kings fall and vault of glass raid are in legends tab
Raids are harder difficulty that HIGHLY recommends 6 players
Thank you
The new one is found in the legends section under destinations in your director. Vault of glass is also located there, there’s one in the dreaming city, one on the throne world, one on Europa, and one on the moon.
Thank you, kind stupid I didn't check there lmao
You need a group of 6 to raid
Sorry if I missed it but I saw that they said they were switching from 4 seasons to 3 episodes a year. Did they provide any info on how they are going to keep the same level of content?
More importantly did they say if there would still be 2 dungeons and 2 raids in the year (1 with final shape and 1 reworked)?
There’s still dungeon keys with the special edition that says 2 dungeons per year. Not sure on raids.
Thanks, I can't find details on the special edition yet. The steam page just says dungeon key but doesn't specify the number it unlocks.
Episodes are divided into acts that add new activities, loot etc. which last for 6 weeks if I ain't wrong. Every episode will have 3 acts, which will conclude into 3 content updates per episode
Level 20 power 257, how do I raid? Idk where the button is or if I’m too low level
You’re also gonna need 5 other people in your party before starting it.
I don’t have any friends that play this, doesn’t it just search and match me up with others like it does in the strikes?
It doesn’t. If you’re interested in completing it, I’d watch a video of how the raid works, and then look for a post on the100.io. Just make sure everyone knows it’s your first time going through it.
Nope, raids are a completely different experience that requires a lot of communication and teamwork. Trust me you’ll want to be as high as you can before you even attempt a raid. But if that doesn’t stop you then I’d recommend downloading the destiny app and using LFG on that to get 5 other people. One more thing, you’ll have to be 270+ to begin the raid.
You'll need at least 300. The raid is on Nessus. There's a special spot on Nessus that you click on to load into it.
You can go "look at it" solo, but you won't be able to make any progress of course.
I don't wanna spoil anything, but there's multiple secret entrances that will let you explore the underbelly of the Leviathan. It's like a goddamn maze down there.
You have to beat the red war campaign, then the first raid will be located on nessus, area called nessus orbit. It has a 300 power level recommended though
Yeah I beat campaign and got origin story is that it?
Yea, but i think you need to be at least 270 to access it.
