How to Create a Group Chat on KakaoTalk

TL;DR To create a group chat on KakaoTalk, ensure you have messaged each participant individually first and check privacy settings. If issues persist, contact KakaoTalk support.

User Protection Policy

KakaoTalk has a user protection policy that may prevent new users from creating group chats immediately. This policy requires users to have sent messages to each participant individually before forming a group chat [2:2]. If you're encountering restrictions, it might be due to this policy or the privacy settings of other users [2:1].

Privacy Settings

When attempting to create a group chat, consider whether you are trying to start a regular group chat, secret chat, or open chat. Different types of chats may have different restrictions based on user privacy settings [2:1]. Ensure that all participants have their settings adjusted to allow group messaging.

Technical Issues and Support

If you're facing persistent issues with creating group chats or sending messages, contacting KakaoTalk support can be beneficial. Some users have resolved their problems by reaching out to support via email [5:1]. You can find contact information for KakaoTalk support through their official website or app help section [5:2].

Additional Tips

For those interested in joining specific group chats, such as language practice groups, it's often helpful to directly message the group creator or express interest in forums where the group is advertised [3:1][3:2]. This ensures you are added to the group once any technical issues are resolved.

ORIGINAL POST

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create a group chat with my classmate in it but I can't. It's saying that I'm not allowed to create a group chat.
Sorry if that's a stupid question, I'm a new kakaotalk user.

Creating a group chat with new friends

Posted by jeyjustgo · in r/KakaoTalk · 4 years ago

Hey, so I'm a new user to KakaoTalk and requested three friends to message me because it wouldn't let me message them first.

Now I can message them privately, but I want to create a group with all four of us.

Every time I try to create a group it says "You are currently not allowed to send messages to a user who you haven't sent messages before in accordance with our user protection policy."

These are people I know and are saved as my friends. Why isn't it letting me create a group chat?

Hmmm, strange. Have you messaged each one individually?

Are you making a regular group chat, a secret chat, or an open chat? Try all of them and if none work, then it could be because of the other party's privacy settings.

KakaoTalk group chat

Posted by pokelove · in r/Korean · 6 years ago

I have been a part of many KakaoTalk group chats, but unfortunately they always die and people stop talking.

I am making a group specifically for chatting in Korean and I'm looking to add about 10 Korean learners who are at least comfortable enough with making basic sentences in Korean, as well as about 10 native speakers. This chat is for speaking in Korean, but of course asking questions in English or questions about English is okay too!

If you are interested in joining, please leave a comment or send me a PM and I will link you. Only people are serious about learning and willing to be somewhat active, please!

Thanks :)

Edit: okay so I just woke up and I wasn't expecting so much interest! I will start by sending invite links to native speakers, since I'm assuming there are a lot less of them here, then I will send the link to some learners :)

Grup to share Information

Posted by PauG00_ · in r/dropshipping · 4 months ago

I’m getting into dropshipping and was wondering if anyone here would be open to sharing info, tips, or experiences. Do you know of any active WhatsApp or Telegram groups where people exchange advice or help each other out? If not, maybe we could create one ourselves to support each other and do a bit of networking too.

Thank uu

I saw your post about looking for a group to share dropshipping information. When I had the same question, I did a bit of personal research myself and came across a few helpful links. One that stood out was a Free 7-day crash course for beginners. They also offer a free 30-minute mentoring call that helped me streamline a lot of questions. If you're serious about building a solid dropshipping business, it's worth checking out.

All The Best.

There’s already a lot of them. Just search in open chat. In my (unpopular) opinion, they suck. No real learning or actual Korean speaking goes on.

If you can’t speak to native Korean speakers, next best thing is a chat for higher level learners that are very committed to speaking Korean only. You’ll learn a lot more.

I have to agree with the above, as you need to walk before you can run, and mostly english speaking happens in those groups and you will not learn much. My recommendation is to learn some basic korean grammar and some basic phrases or go with a course like talk to me in korean and pick out what you want to say, then go into hellotalk and try to talk with some native korean speaking friends. this is basically the way i have been learning korean. good luck!

That you’ll have to do on your own. Thankfully Korean is flooded with resources.

Your best bet is to find a Korean friend who needs to learn English (or any other language you speak) and help each other. HelloTalk is good, and so is Interpals (it’s really sketchy but if you weed through the creeps you’ll make amazing friends. I’ve met 2 friends 3+ years ago that I meet every time in Korea and I love them. You’ll find people like that too.

how to create a group chat on KakaoTalk

Creating a Group Chat on KakaoTalk: Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Open KakaoTalk: Launch the KakaoTalk app on your device.

  2. Go to Chats: Tap on the "Chats" tab at the bottom of the screen.

  3. Start a New Chat:

    • Tap the "+" icon or the "New Chat" button, usually located at the top right corner.
  4. Select Contacts:

    • Choose the contacts you want to add to the group chat. You can search for contacts or scroll through your list.
    • After selecting, tap "Next" or "OK."
  5. Create Group Chat:

    • Enter a group name (optional) and customize settings if needed (like group photo).
    • Tap "Create" or "Done" to finalize the group chat.
  6. Start Chatting: You can now send messages, photos, and more to your group!

Key Considerations:

  • Group Size: KakaoTalk allows you to create groups with up to 100 members.
  • Notifications: You can manage notification settings for the group chat to avoid being overwhelmed by messages.
  • Admin Controls: As the creator, you can manage group settings, add or remove members, and change the group name.

Tip: Encourage group members to customize their notification settings to ensure everyone stays engaged without being overwhelmed!
