How to Send a Message on KakaoTalk

TL;DR To send a message on KakaoTalk, ensure you have an active account and internet connection. If facing issues, try force stopping the app, clearing cache, or contacting KakaoTalk support.

Account Setup and Restrictions

Some users have reported difficulties in sending messages due to user protection policies that prevent messaging users they haven't previously chatted with [3:1], [4:1]. This is a measure to protect users from unsolicited messages. If you encounter this issue, it may resolve itself over time or after your account has been inactive for a period [3:1].

Technical Issues and Solutions

For technical issues where messages fail to send, especially on Android devices using T-Mobile, a common solution involves force stopping the app, clearing cache and data, uninstalling, restarting the phone, and then reinstalling KakaoTalk [2:1]. Some users found success using a VPN when their cellular network was causing issues [2:4].

Contacting Support

If these steps do not resolve the issue, contacting KakaoTalk support via email can be helpful [1:1]. Users have reported that their messaging capabilities were restored after reaching out to support.

Managing Spam Messages

For those dealing with spam messages, KakaoTalk offers features to block unwanted contacts and marketing push notifications [5:1], [5:2]. You can block spam by accessing the chat room, tapping the profile picture, and selecting the block option (차단) [5:6]. Pinning important chat rooms can help ensure you don't miss messages from friends or coworkers [5:3].

Additional Recommendations

Ensure your app is updated to the latest version, as updates often fix bugs and improve functionality. Additionally, check your internet connection, as a stable connection is necessary for sending messages on KakaoTalk.

can't send messages in kkt

Posted by stonebuddhism · in r/KakaoTalk · 4 years ago

I've been having this issue since maybe a week or two ago? Originally, it would start off with my messages in my group chats being very slow to send but it would eventually go through. This didn't happen very often so I was able to brush it off as a slight inconvenience, but now I'm not able to send any messages at all. Anytime I sent a message, it would just not go through.

So I force stopped the app (I have a samsung), and when that didn't work, I uninstalled and reinstalled it but that seems to have made the problem worse. Now I can't access my group chats even though I still get the notifications for them?? The notification banner would appear, but everytime I try to click on it to transfer me over to the groupchat, it would just pull up my kkt homepage instead.

Has anyone had a similar problem recently or have any ideas on how to fix it? Much thanks!

I GOT IT TO WORK

Can't belive the most simple solution worked. Guys, if you are on T mobile on an android phone, I think you can fix the issue by forcing kakao to stop, clear cache and data, Uninstall, restart phone, then reinstall kakao. It worked for me, hopefully it stays this way.

I'm on tmobile. Pixel 3. Only works on wifi. On lte it's receive only.

I've cleared cache, data, uninstalled, reinstalled, reboot.

Only way I got it to work is if I use my private internet access vpn. So must be some tmobile glitch.

Im looking for an answer to this as well. I heard that some people left their account alone for some time and it automatically fixed itself. I haven't touched my account since November, and im too nervous to message someone and then it resets itself or something. I tried contacting Kakao, but no help.

Help with managing Kakao messages

Posted by lonelady75 · in r/Living_in_Korea · 1 year ago

In the last year or so, my kakao has gotten out of hand. I get spam all the time, and the spam is all in Korean, so I have (without meaning to) developed this sort of reflex of just ignoring Korean messages coming in. But what has started happening is that I'm starting to miss messages from important people. I have Korean friends and coworkers who message me in a mix of Korean and English and if they happen to use Korean, it's kind of a 50/50 shot that I'll actually see it.

There's got to be a way to block or stop these messages (literally, I get dozens of them every day) so I can actually see the important messages when they come in. I've looked up how to block, but that only seems to apply to people on my friends list. I'm talking -- I'm getting messages from Samsung, and Burger King and stuff, these are not 'friends', this is spam. How do I stop it?

Thanks!

What’s happening is that you haven’t turned off marketing push notifications from when you sign up for these websites and they will send messages constantly now

In Kakao, click the home button on the business chat - then find 체널 차단 and it blocks the marketing spam

1 upvotes on reddit
meow-ma · 1 year ago

There's also a function that allows you to pin the chat rooms you want so that you don't miss their messages. How about using this ? As for the spam, like you said, Samsung or Burger King things.. every though I exit those chat rooms, they just keep sending it repeatedly, which is so annoying. When you enter the chat rooms, you can click on the profile, and you'll find a button to block them

There’s definitely a block feature for all contacts on Kakao, including the business ones. Pretty sure it’s at the top right of the chat room. If it’s Korean, block is 차단

3 upvotes on reddit
lonelady75 · OP · 1 year ago

the issue is these messages are not from people in my contacts. it's spam. They aren't in my contacts. I literally just clicked on everything looking for block or 차단, and it's just not there.

Are they ads from open channels? You can block them by opening the chatroom, tapping the pfp, tapping the 💬 with a ch in it, and blocking them.

This is a document issued by the National Tax Service of the Republic of Korea. It contains information about taxes.

Acceptable_Sale_3106 · 4 months ago

You probably received a call on your verified phone number because you’re required to file your comprehensive income tax return. You can file it either online or by phone. If your income isn’t high, you’ll likely get a refund.

1 upvotes on reddit
Murky_Safety_2315 · 4 months ago

It tells you to read the notice on your tax return. Do you have any income in Korea other than working income? For freelancers, private businesses, and monthly rent as a building owner. You have to file a final report on your income by the end of July. If you can't do it alone, so visit a tax office.

Greedy_Baseball_925 · OP · 4 months ago

I don’t have any working or freelancing income at the moment. I did do a “summer camp mentor” type of gig last August though, could it be a tax refund for that? It was my first time with that gig and it is also my first time getting this message

1 upvotes on reddit
Murky_Safety_2315 · 4 months ago

If you had a small income last year, it would be refundable.

1 upvotes on reddit
sunatoyo · 4 months ago

It's a tax refund for the 3.3% automatically deducted from your earnings(종합소득세), it's automatically issued in march. You can just open the notice, click through the tax filing and you should probably get a small return

I recommend using Google Translate to quickly translate phone screenshots from KR to EN in order to get the gist of things while living in Korea. This Google translation is good and tells you everything you need to know: https://imgur.com/a/zKIujf4 I have Papago installed as well on my phone, but I mainly use it for EN to KR when I need to more accurately type in Korean in Kakaotalk msgs.

I work for the Time-Traveling Messaging Agency (TTMA) and I'm offering a trial service. You can have ONE paragraph of information sent to ANYONE at ANY point in time, including fictional depictions of the past or future. Who do you send the message to and what does the message say?

Posted by BrianScottGregory · in r/hypotheticalsituation · 10 days ago

How it works:

A one (1) paragraph message translated to the language of the recipient will be guaranteed in delivery. There are no limits or restrictions to what the message can contain other than your standard paragraph length (half a page). The message will be translated to era-relevant media - for example, if it's sent to the 1700s, it will be sent on paper through neutral courier, if it's sent to grandpa in the 1960s - it will be received by Us Diplomatic Courier Service, if it's sent to Captain Picard on the Enterprise, it will be received as a Priority Starfleet Transmission, and if it's sent to Sarah Connor before the Terminator arrives in 1984, it will arrive as Fedex priority message.

ANY fictional changes WILL change the tv show/movie/comic book/book accordingly.

What do you send and who to?

I’m going to send a message to myself around age 14. I’m going to try to urge myself to take better care of myself regarding diet and exercise. Also I’m going to say to keep an eye on tech stuff around 2010 and to try to gather up as much Bitcoin as possible. I’ll put specific info in about the 10k Bitcoin pizza transaction and see if I can be the one to get that. I think if I worked at it I could condense that to half a page.
