Understanding Weapon Rarity
In Elden Ring, rarity is often associated with weapons that have a low drop rate from non-unique enemies. For instance, the Noble's Slender Sword and Cleanrot Spear are considered rare because they drop at a very low percentage [1:2],
[1:3]. These weapons require farming specific enemies until the weapon drops. The Magma Curved Sword is another example of a rare weapon, which has a low drop rate from enemies in Volcano Manor
[1:9].
Farming Techniques
To increase your chances of obtaining rare weapons, you can enhance your item discovery by raising your Arcane stat or using consumables like Silver-Pickled Fowl Foot [1:5]. Farming locations repeatedly where these enemies spawn will eventually yield the desired drop. For example, farming at Windmill Village for celebrant weapons or targeting wandering nobles for their rare weapon drops
[1:6],
[1:7].
Exploring Specific Locations
Certain areas in the game are known for having valuable loot, including rare weapons. Caravans pulled by giants in Limgrave often contain useful items in their chests [4:2]. Additionally, Castle Morne contains a chest with a claymore, accessible without engaging enemies if approached stealthily
[4:5].
Utilizing Merchants and Secret Shops
While some players prefer not to spoil themselves by looking up guides, merchants and secret shops can be a source of powerful equipment. For instance, the Secret Shop/Township offers unique talismans and smithing stones that can enhance your weaponry [5:3]. Exploring different map icons and points of interest can lead to discovering these hidden vendors.
Community Trading and Assistance
Engaging with the community through forums or subreddits like r/EldenRingHelp can provide opportunities for trading items with other players [3:1]. This can be a way to acquire rare weapons if you're struggling to find them on your own. Participating in discussions and co-op gameplay can also offer insights into effective farming strategies and locations.
By combining these methods—understanding rarity, employing farming techniques, exploring key locations, utilizing merchants, and engaging with the community—you can increase your chances of finding rare weapons in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree.
I’ve collected everything in the game. As have many others I’d imagine as doing a 100% play through is a thing. The rarest weapons in my opinion are the ones that drop from mobs. Some have only a 1-2% drop rate. The noble slender sword took me forever to get for instance.
Hmm, never heard of this weapon. Any good?
It was my favorite for a long time, its the longest straight sword. It has a .5% drop rate from wandering nobles. You have seen them many times and have probably been hit by one at least once. There is also a noble's estoc.
you find the rotten crystal sword in a chest... that's technically not rare...
rare weapons are weapons that drop from non-unique enemies, as another user said, the noble's slender sword is rare so are weapons like the cleanrot spear, and the many horns/greathorns.
I found the Cleanrot Spear, Halo Scythe (also a Cleanrot weapon) and a rapier from the wandering nobles...had to farm for all three.
There's quite a lot. Specially the celebrant weapons at the windmill village are very hard to farm, but I got them all eventually.
Low-key still trying to farm that location and all I’ve gotten was some dress lol. I’ll raise my arcane to 80/ eat a sliver foot and try again for the weapons. Thanks!
Elden Ring adopted a "rarity" system to trick you into picking up arteria leafs from dungeon chests 47 times in a row, so you'll still go "huh, oh wow cool!"
but rarity means literally nothing, some things you can get once per playthrough (buckler) and they'll be common, and then the legendary endgame sword forged by the soul of literal god is legendary, but you can get several from in-game remembrance dupes.
It's very stupid they're is no way to buy more "common" normal weapons tbf. Like I can't get 2nd broadsword without starting as confessor.
And enemy drops is just a terrible design in general.
they have mines full of raw material.
they have wooded groves and forests full of raw material.
they have underground caverns full of raw material.
they have a crafting system.
......why can't i craft a buckler...
i would argue that enemy drops are an ok design because they've been in souls games for so long, but then i realized i take tons of actions to circumvent participating in that aspect of game design.
i always keep a mule character save with one of everything upgraded and one of everything unupgraded
..even in bloodborne, I'd upload right in front of the chalice boss i needed a specific gem from.
The magma curved sword is super rare, low drop rate from goons in volcano manor iirc

Why aren't the Shadow of the Erdtree weapons in game? We have some of the enemies (also why not more of them?) so why not the weapons q(give me my light great sword it's such a perfect moveset), where's the talismans, and the consumables (this one matters less but point stands).
The only thing we have is the Golden Hippo. I would love the throwable weapons and heal from afar incantation
Well we have more characters and bosses coming. Maybe they'll make a dryleaf art/fist/monk sort of character.
Omg I didn’t even think of that. New dream unlocked.
Yeah, was just trying to think what sort of archetypes/styles we don't have. Like only revenant has a "fist" weapon (which feels more like claws, but they are fist).
Ha, maybe a Belmont style character (starts with whip and has passive or something related to using throwables like daggers and pots, maybe make them consume FP instead and picking up stuff restores some FP). Maybe make the ultimate the item crash based on what you're holding in usable slot (like throwing dagger style weapons just throws out a ton of them).
That would be neat otherwise if for whatever reason they are against adding to much shadow or the Erdtree stuff because of spoilers I would totally be down for them to make new weapon types for this game but I know that's a lot more work.
Could anyone drop me Shadow of the Erdtree items please? I'm looking for armor pieces, talismans and weapons. I could give some runes if needed
Hey what type do you want
hi anything you don't mind dropping I'll gladly take! but I'm mainly looking for Rellana's set, Solitude set, Fire knight set, Leda's armor. Weapons: great katana, milady, euporia and ashes of war/talismans maybe two handed sword talisman, two headed turtle talisman and fire spear for the ash of war
Hmm I think I have some duplicate of them but I’m heading to bed now so maybe around 12:00 you can message me again and I’ll drop some stuff

Im at 20h already, at least 700h in the souls game already, but I can say, to my shame, that I have no idea where to buy a claymore from. I reached the 1st boss before the castle but I do 55dmg per hit with a +3 mace that I was able to buy from the Round table area, which was the best available weapon in the shop Any tips about buying weapons? Is there an npc I need to find?
The big caravans always have a chest in the back with something useful, especially the one being pulled by 2 giants across the bridge in the starting area. I think that one will have a good weapon for you if you’re using STR
I’m a “veteran” souls player, and I love a good claymore. That being said, I’ve put 35 hours into Elden Ring, and I’ve only just recently found a really nice claymore that dropped from one of the caravan of wrested villager types that wander in groups on the roads in Limgrave. Other than that, I haven’t seen one.
Thanks for the tip! I’m gonna farm those guys. I’m in no rush to finish the game, tbh. I love it and want this to last for as long as possible. Thats why I asked here and didnt search online, so I dont spoil myself as much as possible.
If you go to the Castle of Morne and after going up in the lift to the courtyard, sneak\crouch around the right hand wall, past the enemies. Go past the heap of bonfire stuff and turn right into a smaller courtyard, right again and in the room throught the arched door is a claymore in a chest. No need to fight, and you have two claymores to dual wield. Hope this helps.
Traveling merchants, open world bosses, dungeons, caves, and quests.
Most obvious map points of interest will have a boss, npc quest or dungeon.
Go buy Dragon Crest Shield Talisman (+15% DMG negation, 15k runes) and maybe even a higher tier smithing stone so you don't have to go in a cave orrrr infinite star shards or anything. It's amazing, stop ignoring it.
Ritual sword talisman is also quite strong for Recluse and Revenant, and to a lesser degree Ironeye.
Yeah but you get that on items occasionally, I agree it's just spending the money never feels worth it compared to just picking up flat damage negation and adding a ton of effective HP to yourself.
Still learning some of the ins and outs of the game,
What exactly am I looking for if trying to spot the Secret Shop or Township?
It's just like a weird little wooden longhouse/town icon on the map where a special merchant is.
Yep, negation damage and resistance is absurdly strong in this game. People have no idea how much they can tank with just a couple of those boosts or weapons with perks like getting improve damage negation on weapons.
People keep telling new Adel's tornado is something so horrible they try to cancel it with ult but actually I don't even care for the thing anymore. I just get a weapon or a talisman during the run with thunder damage resistance between 15-20% and I always choose the dormant powers that up physical damage negation and elemental damage negation and the tornado is absolutely nothing but a cool wind. I can pretty much go and hit Adel while in the tornado for quite a while and that thing will do nearly no damage.
I want some rare shit
Dark sickle and machete are rare
They are not rare, but can only be looted at certain levels. Once you level up too much, you will stop receiving them.
And there are 1 of a kind weapons that can only get from quests but theyre guaranted ,idk if you count those as rare
Any other RNG loot?
I’ve been looking for weapons from vendors, blacksmith, chests and enemy drops all over the map. Not sure if there are chests in entropy worlds as there are no chest icon in the map. Help me. You are my only hope!
Anybody knows how to get the bolt of gransax weapon ? Saw it on a vid but can’t find anything on it
This weapon requires you to be far into the capital. Teleport to the Erdtree Sanctuary Grace, and then head towards the elevator. You will see two perfumers, kill them, and the champion knight (optional, but makes the jump easier)
Then look over the edge directly in front of the door of the building you fight the champion next to, and jump down directly onto the giant weapon that is the Bolt of Gransax or the nearby terrain. Climb up the weapon and you’ll be able to get the smaller version with the same name.
You may fall once or twice as it’s bumpy terrain but if you feel yourself slipping just jump.
Sorry to bring up a 2 day old post but I can't find anything on this Weapon. The wiki says you can get it before killing Godfrey. Is that what your comment is referring to?
Thank you so much, would never have found it lol
I miss just like 25/30 weapons but some has really low drop rates. I'm asking the eldenring community to help me in that challenge by tradiong some weapons!!
Anything in particular you are missing?
If you have any spare magma blades I would trade something I have
I have a spare +9 magma blade that you’re welcome to have
Playstation?
Try r/patchesemporium
thank you so much!
Do you happen to be on Playstation? I could give you the missing weapons at +0 or max (+10/+25)
i'm on pc :c
between my three characters i have found a whole lot of weapons but most of them are special weapons or boss weapons, so my question is where are all the common weapons?
I've found like 6 normal weapons after 100+ hours and exploring all the areas
Vendors sell them. A vendor in Roundtable Hold has several of them.
like the traveling merchants? like kale?
Kalé has the leather shield. The merchant in East Limgrave has the hand axe and a few more shields. The merchant in North Limgrave has the short sword and halberd.
Most mobs can drop there wepons/armour, multiple shops all around the maps.
Vendors, minor dungeon loot, enemy drops. There's plenty out there, they just aren't super common.
