How to Find Suppliers for Dropshipping

TL;DR

  • Utilize platforms like AliExpress, Google searches, and dropshipping directories.
  • Prioritize communication and reliability when selecting suppliers.

Using Online Platforms

AliExpress is a popular platform for finding dropshipping suppliers. The process involves searching for products, evaluating supplier reviews and ratings, and directly contacting them to ensure they offer dropshipping services [4:1], [2:2]. Other platforms like Alibaba and DHgate are also commonly used [2].

Competitor and Trade Data Research

Researching competitors can be a useful strategy to identify potential suppliers. By analyzing trade data, you can discover which suppliers other businesses use, providing insight into reliable partners with proven track records [3:1]. This method helps in finding suppliers that consistently ship products and maintain good communication.

Directories and Resources

Dropshipping directories can be valuable resources for finding suppliers. Websites like Dropshipping Hustle offer directories of domestic suppliers based in regions such as the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, and Europe [1:2]. These directories often list verified suppliers and provide insights into their services and reliability.

Building Relationships

Establishing strong relationships with suppliers is crucial. This involves clear communication, ensuring they understand your needs, and verifying their ability to fulfill orders reliably [5:1]. It's important to ask suppliers about their dropshipping capabilities, response times, and language proficiency to avoid potential issues [2:2].

Alternative Suggestions

For those looking for unique or less common products, conducting competitor research and exploring niche wholesalers through Google searches can be effective [1:1], [5:1]. Additionally, engaging with dropshipping communities on platforms like Facebook can provide insights and recommendations for suppliers [1:4].

How to find a supplier?

ORIGINAL POST

I've been reading up on the different apps you can use for order fulfillment like DSers and CJdropshipping ect..

From what's Ive read they're all pretty iffy at best.. For every positive comment on one of these apps you'll see 10 negative ones.

My question is, how do you go about finding a reliable supplier? Establishing a strong connection and building up a good rapport?

I wonder how many people in the space use a dropshipping app vs people who directly contact a supplier?

If you're looking for domestic dropshipping suppliers based in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada and Europe, I have a huge directory in my resources area of my website Dropshipping Hustle, which should help. Good luck with your business.

None of the "suppliers" people have listed below are even actual suppliers.

Look up "Trevor Zheng USA Supplier"

The video titled: How To ACTUALLY Find Shopify Dropshipping Suppliers (USA High Ticket Suppliers)

And then the video: "How To Close $1M Suppliers | High Ticket Dropshipping" to learn how to Close them.

> My question is, how do you go about finding a reliable supplier? Establishing a strong connection and building up a good rapport?

If you're looking for products that are a little less common (and perhaps a bit more attractive due to the fact that hardly anyone offers them), then you'll probably have to go a bit out of the box to find those suppliers.

One possible way is to conduct competitor research. There's a chance some of them aren't actual manufacturers, and may acquire those products from a common source. You can try searching via Google Image to see if you can id them. It's a bit of a long shot, but you might get lucky.

You could also get friendly with the owner of these stores, and ask if they can refer you. These referrals sometimes benefit them, so they'll gladly let you know. Other times, those suppliers may not even humor you, unless you have a reference from an existing client. That's exactly how I found one.

Another possible way is to visit trade shows & expos in your (hopefully large enough) city, typically hosted in some sort of exhibition center. If one exists in your city, you can check out their calendar or planned events, then choose which tickles your fancy. And when you visit, ask each booth about everything (products, samples, location, etc..), including whether they do dropship or not. Some may give you weird looks, but you could get lucky with a few that do manufacturing themselves. This is also exactly how I found a few, some didn't even have an online presence except for email.

You aren't limited to just those two either, you can try through other platforms & avenues. Obviously, it takes quite a bit of time and effort to find, get in touch with, and foster good relationships with these suppliers. They're not going to have everything you'll want in your store, which means you probably need a few suppliers to work with. So you want it to be worth it - make sure you build your store right, backed up with good and thorough customer & competitor research. None of that quick & dirty crap many Youtube "tutorials" spew.

How/Where to find suppliers?

Posted by xela7 · in r/dropship · 3 years ago

I’ve done research on dropshiping over the past couple of months and I have a good understanding on how everything works but my biggest issue is talking to suppliers. Was curious to know where people find their suppliers and if it’s usually just one or multiples that can fulfill your orders. I know about Alibaba/AliExpress and others ones like DHgate but is that where most people find their suppliers or are their others places to look or call.

Personally, I find products, not suppliers. Of course, a product is going to come from a supplier. Say, I want to sell this product, then I check out his/her reviews and ratings. If look OK, I'll approach him/her before deciding to work together.

I don't select a supplier first, and pick products from his/her store.

3 upvotes on reddit
X
xela7 · OP · 3 years ago

Yeah understandable, how do you go about talking to them. What do you usually ask?

2 upvotes on reddit
Q
QP_marketnetwork · 3 years ago

Say, for AliExpress (I only used it before), you find a product and check out the supplier's review and ratings, then you just message him/her.

I'll ask if he/she actually does dropshipping. Even from AliExpress or from Oberlo's suggested list, I did meet a few suppliers that actually don't do dropshipping. It would be a disaster if you find out this after receiving orders from your customers. You need to rush for another supplier...

I also want to see if they can speak reasonable English, and respond to messages promptly. In case things happen, I'll need to communicate with them, so they are important factors. If they only read and don't reply, or take a few days to reply, then you could be in trouble.

I may also ask if I can use the materials, like images and videos. They should agree if they do dropshipping, but it is being polite and to open a conversation.

If everything passes, then I'll start working... placing the products in my shop and working on the page and ads.

This is just my way... and you can make your own decision and do it your way.

How You Usually Find A Supplier

Posted by sethmcoplen · in r/dropship · 5 years ago

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and really intend to create a good relationship with you all!

I have been dropshipping for the last two years and am now opening a skincare niche store. I figured I would start by talking with you guys about my current issue which is HUGE for a dropshipping store.

So I already know what products I want but what I was wondering is: How do you guys regularly find your suppliers? Are their any special directories you guys use? Thanks guys

If we tell you how we find our suppliers, you would just take our products and undercut us lmao. Here's the basics though:

Step One: Google wholesalers for your niche
Step Two: Endless Hours of Emails back and forth with potential suppliers, calculations and comparisons until you stock your store.

Good luck!

Scrolling through suppliers, picking random shit, and then spinning up a store is the surest way to fail.

Figure out what you can compellingly and competitively sell—solve a problem, address underserviced demand, leverage the value you bring to this project—and then find a supplier.

Finding a supplier is easier than developing a compelling and competitive proposition.

If you’re just starting dropshipping, AliExpress is probably easier. Alibaba’s good later on if you’re scaling or building your own brand, but only if the supplier’s down to ship one order at a time.

I suggest DSers with AliExpress. DSers connects AliExpress to Shopify so you can automate the process. AliExpress is where you find your suppliers.

I tried that and I do have quite of a collection on my website. The only problem that I have with that method is that it’s inconsistent. I mean if you look at the catalog, every product has a different picture and it’s not a uniform presentation across the website. Then you have the shipping that is quite of a fuss. I guess I’m looking for someone that can bring a certain style and uniformity across the store. (To make it look better and classier)

Look for suppliers on platforms like Alibaba, AliExpress, or use services like Oberlo which can connect you to reliable suppliers. Make sure to read reviews and check supplier ratings. For a new store, focus on high-quality product photos and detailed descriptions. Customer trust is key, so make sure your store looks trustworthy and offers easy returns.

Sourcing Suppliers

Posted by CharacterPianist1673 · in r/AmazonFBA · 1 month ago

I would love to hear from those of you with experience identifying suppliers. For some context, I am a (soon to be) new seller and I have many years of global sourcing experience in a professional environment (maybe some of you saw my previous post). I know exactly how difficult it is to not just find a supplier but a supplier strong enough to make you competitive in the market.

The reason for my question is because it seems like most successful sellers are using research tools like Jungle Scout to identify niches and market opportunities but I just can’t understand how someone could start with a product they are completely unfamiliar with and just head out into a market they know nothing about, find a supplier, and be competitive/successful.

My question is are you guys REALLY constantly finding new suppliers to fill niche products you know practically nothing about or are successful sellers leveraging their existing supplier base in products they truly understand and specialize in?

how to find suppliers for dropshipping

Key Considerations for Finding Dropshipping Suppliers

  1. Research Platforms: Utilize popular dropshipping platforms like AliExpress, Oberlo, SaleHoo, or Spocket. These platforms connect you with suppliers and often provide product listings.

  2. Niche Selection: Focus on a specific niche to streamline your search for suppliers. This helps in finding specialized suppliers who understand your market better.

  3. Supplier Directories: Explore supplier directories such as Worldwide Brands or ThomasNet. These directories list verified suppliers and manufacturers across various industries.

  4. Contact Manufacturers: Reach out directly to manufacturers of products you want to sell. Many manufacturers offer dropshipping services or can connect you with wholesalers who do.

  5. Trade Shows: Attend trade shows related to your niche. This allows you to meet suppliers in person, build relationships, and negotiate terms.

  6. Online Marketplaces: Check platforms like Amazon, eBay, or Etsy for potential suppliers. Many sellers on these platforms may be open to dropshipping arrangements.

  7. Evaluate Supplier Reliability: Look for reviews, ratings, and testimonials from other dropshippers. Ensure the supplier has a good track record for shipping times and product quality.

Recommendation: Start with platforms like AliExpress or Spocket for a wide range of products and established suppliers. Once you find potential suppliers, order samples to evaluate product quality and shipping times before committing to a partnership. This will help ensure a positive experience for your customers.
