TL;DR
Product Research and Supplier Selection
The foundation of a successful dropshipping business begins with thorough product research. It's crucial to identify products that solve problems or spark impulse buying [1:1]. Once you have potential products, start testing them quickly rather than endlessly browsing. For suppliers, while AliExpress is a common starting point, consider CJdropshipping or Zendrop for faster shipping once you find a product that works
[1:1].
Marketing Strategies
Marketing is essential for driving traffic and conversions in a dropshipping business. Social media posts, particularly on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, can be effective for organic growth [4:2]. Ads are also a critical component, but they should be used wisely. Start small with TikTok organic or Meta ads, focusing on one channel until you're consistent before expanding
[1:1]. Google Ads is another option for driving traffic, with resources available to help set up campaigns effectively
[5:4].
Building a Brand and Community
Beyond immediate sales, building a brand and community is vital for long-term success. Establishing a solid foundation for your brand involves creating engaging content and fostering an audience that is ready to buy from you [4:2]. This approach helps reduce reliance on ads as the sole source of traffic and builds a loyal customer base that can drive repeat purchases.
Understanding E-commerce Marketing
It's important to understand digital marketing strategies specific to e-commerce rather than generic marketing advice [2:4]. This includes knowing how to adapt concepts to your dropshipping model and not just copying existing strategies without understanding their application. Mentorship can be beneficial if you're struggling with finding winning products and effective marketing techniques
[2:3].
Avoiding Common Pitfalls
Many beginners fall into the trap of following the "dropshipping playbook," which often leads to failure due to its low barriers to entry and lack of adherence to business fundamentals [5:1]. Instead, focus on building a sustainable business model by understanding your market, refining your product offerings, and continuously improving your marketing efforts.
Hello,
I'm very new to drop shipping. I've never launched a product before, because I don't know how to make ads and drive traffic to my store. I'm also unsure as to how I should go about finding reliable suppliers. And honestly I'm unsure about a lot of other things. I've seen a lot of different things on social media about how to go about drop shipping and it's quite overwhelming. If someone could reach out and give me a hand I would be so grateful. I'm willing to put in the time and effort and really want to start making money from drop shipping. I hope everyone has a great day and thank you if you took the time to read this.
Dropshipping is a gradual process business if you rush it without a full understanding you will end up losing your money I was once like you but successfully running my two stores without any issue. feel fee to DM me so I can explain the little I know about dropshipping for the past year
honestly man, totally normal to feel that way. ads + traffic + suppliers are the 3 walls most beginners hit. social makes it look like plug-and-play but it’s a lot of testing and system-building behind the scenes.
i don’t have all the answers myself, but i do know someone who’s been through that exact overwhelm and figured out a simple way to start without burning cash blindly. i can connect you to him, if you'd like.
As long as its not some 500$ course I'd love to reach out. Thanks
Kudos on taking the plunge. As for ads, remember it's important for an ad to resonate with your target audience. Does your ad collateral pique their curiosity, addresses their pain points effectively, induce FOMO etc., When you try out different angles you eventually figure out whats going to stick with your audience and you double down on it.
If you want to generate ad creatives without breaking the bank, check out myadlab.ai.
It understands your target audience and ad goals, then produces ad concepts rooted in emotional triggers, aiming for high conversion rate. You can select one or more concepts to generate stunning ad creatives. It delivers both speed and quality at a fraction of the cost of an agency or freelancer, helping you keep the bulk of your hard-earned money where it rightfully belongs: your pocket!
You will learn slowly. I have been in this field for 1 year Dm
Totally get how overwhelming it feels at the start — ads, suppliers, and all the moving parts can seem like too much. The best way to simplify things is to break it down step by step:
Honestly, tools and platforms matter less than building the skill of testing offers and creatives.
If you want structured guidance, I’d suggest checking out Trevor Zheng’s YouTube — he breaks down beginner-friendly strategies without all the fluff and overhype you see on TikTok.
Stick with it. Everyone starts where you are. 🚀
I see a lot of people here wanting to get into dropshipping but feeling lost. Some don’t know where to start, some struggle with picking the right products, and others feel stuck working a 9-5 while trying to make this work.
I’ve been there. I get it. So, let me break down what actually works—no fluff, no BS, just real advice.
Dropshipping ≠ Easy Money (Think E-commerce, Not Just Dropshipping)
Most beginners think dropshipping is some magical “get rich quick” model. It’s not. It’s just a business model like any other. You’re not in the “dropshipping” business—you’re in e-commerce. The real game is:
✅ Selling the right product (not just any trending product).
✅ Building a brand people trust (even if you don’t hold inventory).
✅ Understanding marketing (because ads = your lifeline).
Where Do You Even Start? (For Complete Beginners)
If you’re brand new, follow this process:
Where to find good products?
Where to source?
👉 How to manage both?
🔥 If You Have $$$ for Ads:
📈 If You Have $0 for Ads (Organic Strategy):
Biggest Mistakes to Avoid
❌ Thinking the first product will make you rich.
❌ Wasting time on logo design instead of testing.
❌ Spending $$$ on ads without knowing what you’re doing.
❌ Ignoring customer experience (good shipping & support matter).
Want a Step-by-Step Guide?
I’m currently building a marketing training program for e-commerce business owners who are starting from scratch. Got questions about marketing for e-commerce? Drop them in the comments! I want to understand what people struggle with the most so I can provide real solutions—no fluff, no BS. Let’s talk.
If this post helped, drop a 🔥 in the comments. Let’s make 2025 the year you stop thinking and start executing.
My biggest struggle is not having mentorship honestly bc I’m lost on how to find a winning product how to market etc.
All of this is called "marketing" in one word. It means that you have to understand marketing. Be careful, I'm not talking about reading the contents of books or YouTube videos in general, because by doing that, you'll have plenty of knowledge but being a beginner, you won't know how to adapt it to e-commerce. But it's more about knowing the concepts and digital marketing strategies that apply to e-commerce and understanding how they apply. Is that clear to you? Because if you understand that, you're already better off than all those who copy-paste ready-made plans from gurus who make you fail. I sent you a DM for more information.
So not learning marketing but learning marketing from e-commerce in particular…I see! And yes would love a dm but haven’t received it?
Good one, could you share your link pls 🙏🏻
I recommend brandsearch to find stores scaling with meta ads instead of dropshipio.
Looking to probably get into drop shipping on Shopify and probably EBay.
Is marketing a huge part of dropping shipping on Shopify and or EBay?(Marketing as in things like social media posts) Will you be able to scale to a successful drop shipping business with NO marketing at all?
Marketing should be the #1 priority, especially if you’re drop shipping.
Yep. It's the #1 priority. ALWAYS.
Drop shipping is a lame business model, if you have products you think you can sell, just buy them in bulk, and sell them.
But 90% of our website sales come from PPC marketing.
A lot of people don't have the capital to buy in bulk though
Stop drop shipping
Marketing is everything
The fact that you ask this question tells me you should not start dropshipping.. by saying this im saving this community from one more “ why isn’t my store making any sales “ post.. how are you gonna make a sale if you’re not running any form for marketing? Think people will just magically view your store?
I’ve watched tons of videos about dropshipping and I’m actually planning to start really soon. I want to know what are your recommendations concerning marketing (a small budget). Will ads be enough?
Ads will work but only as a short term source of traffic. Someone here said ads are like gasoline for fire. They will work fine at the beginning and then you’ll have to keep spending more money to get more results. Instead, I advise you to go for a promotion that allows you to build an audience first and have it ready to buy from you. You can do that before even launching your website just through content marketing on TikTok or IG.
Growth services like Ascend viral are a great alternative for ads as they will help you build a community that will be your long term source of traffic and sales later on. Also, try to interact with other creators who are trying to grow as well and agree to share each other’s post with a little shoutout.. usually smaller accounts don’t ask for money for a little shoutout; that will get you both a lot of exposure.
My final genuine advice is be unique; it is already saturated with all types of stores so your major focus would be on how you present your products and the type of relationship you build with your audience to make them trust you enough to go to your website and purchase.
As a new entrant to the e-commerce dropshipping industry, there are several steps you must take in order to be successful. While it's great that you've taken the time to watch videos on the topic, it's important to remember that there's still much more to do.
One key step is to conduct in-depth research on your chosen niche before starting to sell. This includes identifying winning products within that niche, and ensuring that they are in high demand but have low competition. Additionally, it's essential to establish a solid foundation for your brand. This means not rushing into running ads before taking the time to build trust with your target audience.
It's important to note that investing too much money in ads without a solid plan in place can lead to failure. To mitigate this risk, it's vital to first implement an SEO strategy, engage in social media marketing, and develop a comprehensive marketing plan before running any advertisements.
To build a profitable dropshipping business, strategic planning and execution are key. If you have any further questions or need additional guidance, please feel free to reach out for assistance.
Hey everyone,
I recently launched my dropshipping store and I’m looking for advice on how to improve marketing and engagement—especially when it comes to driving traffic and conversions.
I’ve built out a clean Shopify site, optimized product listings, and started shops on FB/Instagram. But honestly, I’m still struggling to get consistent engagement and actual purchases. I’m not really comfortable being on camera myself, so most of my content so far is product-focused or text/animation-based.
Here’s what I’m hoping to get help with: • Creative marketing strategies that actually work right now • Tips for getting organic traffic (especially if you’ve done it without a big budget) • Advice on TikTok/Instagram/Meta Ads for dropshipping • Influencer or UGC tactics that drive results • Whether email or SMS marketing is worth it this early
Also if this is soliciting or against the rules please feel free to take it down, but if anyone here has marketing experience or is good at creating engaging content and would be interested in working with me on commission or a small freelance basis, I’d love to talk. I’m open to paid collaborations if it’s a good fit.
Drop any suggestions, success stories, or experiences you’ve had—and feel free to DM me if you’re down to partner!
Thanks in advance. Really appreciate this community.
Without even seeing what you’re doing, it’s quite likely you’ve followed the ‘dropshipping playbook’ and you’re simply trying to do something that’s bound to fail. Happy to have a look.
I’d like to hear more on that, what is the ‘dropshipping playbook’, and why is that bound to fail?
By ‘dropshipping playbook’ I refer to the prevailing philosophy or approach that the gurus all bang on about. It’s highly likely what you ‘know’ about dropshipping is this. The whole ‘select some trending product, spin up a store quickly and test’ low barrier to entry approach.
It has an exceptionally high failure rate as it flies in the face of the tried and tested business fundamentals and through its own low barriers and popularity, and the rise of large competitors and more savvy consumers, its diluted its own impact.
The short of it is—wanna start a successful business; do it properly and be prepared for hard work and to operate within the parameters of the business laws of physics. There are no shortcuts.
Google ads is a good way of driving traffic to your site. If you need help understanding google ads id recommend Trevor Zheng on Youtube. he posts a lot of valuable content about using Google Adsu to get a high ROAS (Return on Ad Spend). He goes into great detail on how to set up your campaigns, find the right keywords, and structure everything properly to get good results. His videos are super helpful in driving more traffic
I only know half of Shopify, I don’t know what to sell, I’m Uncreative with names and I’m just not sure where to start, any tips?
Drop shipping isn’t a business. It’s a method of fulfillment. The business is e-commerce marketing.
This is the truest statement I’ve ever read. Had someone explained drop shipping this way I would have avoided it all together because marketing is not my strong suit.
That's the enjoyment of paying people to market your product for you these days.
Go to YouTube and search Ethan Dobbins you will have the all the knowledge to start Dropshipping by watching the guys videos.
I know this sounds spammy but it is not. Hear me out. This YouTuber gives out a full 9 hour drop shipping course on his YouTube channel every year for absolutely free. This is something most people would charge you $2,000 for.
Here is the complete A to Z 2022 Shopify drop shipping blueprint for absolutely free on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrHmQHrIzT4&t=1993s
I had my first successful e-commerce business thanks to the 2020 Shopify drop shipping blueprint from this YouTuber.
So clutch I’m doing decent with drop shipping but killing RA and OA with Amazon and eBay. I want to get my dropshipping more consistent it’s been hit or miss.
Hey! After 3 years were you finally able to start a business? If you don't mind me asking?
What is RA and OA? Sorry I am not familiar with selling on Amazon.
I have to agree with this… this video helped me become successful in e-commerce as well. He also explains beginning tips for Facebook ads.
About to drop this subreddit because of the lowest of low effort posts. OP fucking give up right now, right fucking now. If you can't even do the most basic of research you have ZERO chance. Even in someone comes here and gives you some ideas you obviously want to expend now actual effort.
I wrote a book on it, might start giving out free samples to this sub because this sort of post has become increasingly popular lol
I'm about to turn 19 and have heard a ton of bad things about dropshipping, however, that's the best thing I can do by now so I would really appreciate help from those of y'all who have a successful dropshipping business.
Also, those who could chat with me please let me know, I got many things to ask to those who dropship :)
In addition to generating traffic from search engines, it's important to also generate traffic from different channels. This can includes using effective SEO techniques, advertising on platforms such as Google and Facebook, and using popular social media networks such as Pinterest and LinkedIn.
thank you!
Don't spend more money than you lose. 80% of these sites lose money
You need to have something unique. And even then it gets copied quickly by bigger players
Google ad words, Facebook ads, tictok ads, Reddit ads, etc..
TikTok Organic is probably the best bet to start to keep costs low if you're just starting up.
okay thank you, maybe products that cost less than 50$ would be ideal?
Tiktok would be your best bet otherwise you’ll need at least $500 budget to advertise.
You’ve heard a ton of bad things about dropshipping because people think running a business is easy, it’s far from easy.
How much would you recommend to spend on ads every day? $50??
It really depends how much you sell your products for.
Getting more sales in 2025 - A basic guide
Hey everyone,
If you have a dropshipping store and want to make more sales in 2025, here are some simple tips that can help. These ideas are beginner-friendly and don’t need a lot of money to get started.
Choose products that people need or want but can’t easily find in stores. Use tools like TikTok trends, Instagram, and Google Trends to spot what’s popular. A good product solves a problem or is fun and interesting to use.
Short video ads (15–30 seconds) work best. Show how the product works or how it solves a problem. Focus on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook, where people are used to shopping online. Don’t forget to test different ads to find the one that performs best.
Reach out to smaller creators with 10,000–50,000 followers. They’re affordable, and their audience trusts them more than big influencers. Offer free products or a small payment in exchange for them showing your product.
A clean, simple website builds trust. Include customer reviews, real photos, and clear descriptions of what the product does and why people need it.
Free shipping and small discounts (like “10% off today only”) can make people buy right away. These offers make your store stand out from competitors.
Send emails to people who leave items in their cart to remind them to finish their purchase. Offer discounts to returning customers and make them feel special so they’ll shop with you again.
Post daily on TikTok and Instagram to show off your product. Respond to comments and messages quickly to build trust. Running giveaways is also a great way to get more attention and followers.
My tool BrandWrite can help with this. It will brand products for you and increase your marketability and sales. So make sure to check it out!
Nice tips! Thanks for sharing! Have you had a lot of success with BrandWrite?

Hey all, this is Chris.
I wanted to share some of my thoughts after chatting with some of you, and give (hopefully) meaningful advice to every single budding entrepreneur out there that might be reading this.
TIME
First off, I'd like to address a common misconception about dropshipping.
Dropshipping is one of the cheapest and fastest way to start a business. That being said, please do remember what a business means.
It is not a way to turn a quick profit, it is not a shortcut to your wildest fantasies. It is simply a mean to reach your fantasy of being financially free.
If you're shelving an hour or so per day to building your dropshipping website, all while hoping that it'll give you a 5-figure monthly income, I would recommend for you to stop trying. Even if you're a genius, it's highly unlikely you'll succeed with that little time invested.
Building a business takes time. Your high school diploma took four years, your college degree took five. A million dollar business can't be built with only a couple hours a week.
To summarize: Invest more time into your business.
Money
Money is obviously not abundant to many of us here.
We entered dropshipping because it's a cheap way to make a buck, but the harsh reality of it is, the more you have, the more likely you are to succeed.
Burning through money is never a good feeling, but it's what every dropshipper worth his salt has experienced.
Many have asked how much is sufficient, and my answer has and always been the same: The more you have, the better.
The amount of money you have is the amount of bullets you have.
Some might have to fire one bullet (unlikely) and hit the target.
Some might empty their whole clip and still missed the target.
Hopefully, you'll hit the target before you run out of bullets.
Also, don't be delusional. A hundred dollars won't change your life. You might have heard miracle stories of people turning their last dollar into a million bucks. You're a business man, not a gambler. Load up on as many bullets as you can, and aim well.
That being said, I personally started with $5000, and wished I started with more.
To summarize: Make sure you have enough money to fund the beginning of the rest of your life.
Skills
Because of the nature of dropshipping, where it's the cheapest and fastest way to start a business, it requires you to be a chameleon.
Web design? Copywriter? Graphic designer? Video editor? Digital marketer? Content creator? Customer support? Supply chain management? Email copywriter?
The unfortunate part is, for most of you, you have to learn everything.
The fortunate part is, there's an abundance of resource for you to learn from.
Don't shy away from learning new skills that'll benefit your business. If you don't, the only person who suffers is you.
To summarize: Learn everything!
ABOUT ME
I'm a retired dropshipper, who made his dreams come true from the very thing you're trying.
So yes, it is possible, but it is not easy.
The reason for me being here is to give back to the community, plain and simple.
So try your best to help each other, and ask stupid questions, and answer stupid questions, even if it seems obvious what's the answer.
All I ask in return is when you're profitable and successful, help those who are trying to escape the rat race.
Cheers to everybody, have an exciting Q4, and I truly recommend you to post questions on this subreddit, but my inbox is always open if you need help!
Any tips of product research and go-to dropshipping suppliers?
For product research, I will always recommend using spy tools.
There's a lot of spy tools to choose from, and I always use a couple of spy tools instead of only one.
For dropshipping suppliers, I'd recommend testing out a few suppliers you can find from Facebook groups or here. Communication is the most important, followed by reliability!
$5000 that you had, how you managed it? Can you share your top-level breakdown? Ads? Freelancers? etc.
95% of it went into ads.
Nothing went into freelancers, as I did everything myself.
I wouldn't recommend anybody outsourcing or hiring freelancers until you're confident of doing the job yourself.
Great advice! How was you experience with posting ads on various platforms? Which one is the best? Worst? Or you focused on one platform only?
Would you suggest finding a freelancer who can find a product to sell (Alibaba to Amazon) or do it completely yourself?
Is it possible to be in Europe, order from Alibaba, and sell on Amazon (US market)?
All excellent advice! It's good to hear a grounded, realistic counterpoint to the "I WORK 5 MINUTES PER DAY AND JUST BOUGHT A DOZEN GOLDEN FERARRIS!" YouTuber clickbait fantasies. If I had one thing to add, it would be for new or returning dropshippers to understand the ever-changing nature of the business. A lot of people start and get frustrated that things that worked 5, 10, or even 20 years ago no longer work today. Hell, even some of last year's advice is already stale. That's just the nature of things.
I, guessing what you're saying is an exaggeration. Or maybe Im just being more wise to whom I take advice from on YouTube. I never watched anyone that said they only worked 5 minutes a day. If anything most of anyone I took seriously were honest about the amount of work they put in. However, they did say that when it came to average day to day operations rarely did they work more than 4 hours. which from my experience is true. However, I did put in crazy amount of hours when I felt or knew I needed to. Especially, before I had any VA's helping me out.
Your a true veteran my guy. This will come in handy as i learn more and more thank you so much
No problem at all, always happy to help the community!
Thank you for your kind words!
Why is Q4 so special?
I want to begin with stating that I already did my research on what dropshipping is + requirements that goes into it and a basic overall understanding. For those who have already opened a dropshipping business that is working, what are your tips and tricks? If you had to start from scratch again what would you do? Lots of advice would be greatly needed!
(plus, what would you suggest starting with? Is $100 a safe option to start working with? Can investing $100 even work?)
I’d suggest a budget $1k when starting off if you are a beginner. You can also start with $500 if you know how to market.
Save 1.5 - 2K and just start. You can watch 100000 YT videos, but your reality it's going to be totally different. You'll everything as you ago if you're not going to quite after 2 days without Sales.
Starting from 100$ doesn't give you anything, even not a lesson, you need to spend about 500$, and find a product with a 30% guaranteed return on investment, then start your store, If you don't know where and how to find 30% ROI products, I can help you in this regard, then you can start your store and earn a lot of money, still if you don't know how to do all this, leave an SMS.
I started with shopify, then saw this site, major competitor and mad my subscription back in 2 days with some gimmicky dog hats! Only 1 product, check it out https://dash.partnerstack.com/invite/c496e0aa37b94de792343eb8e47ec74c
I finally hit six figures in revenue from dropshipping last month, to find the products I wasted days and days of manual research but right now I am just using https://dropshipscout.com. I am on my 3rd "Free Trial" account with them and it really saves a lot of the manual work doing research. Also I obviously never paid a buck for the tool :D
