How to Increase Social Media Engagement

Consistency and Timing

One of the most important strategies for increasing social media engagement is maintaining consistency in posting. Regular activity ensures that your followers remain engaged and aware of your presence [1:1][2:1]. Additionally, timing plays a crucial role; posting when your audience is most active can significantly boost engagement. Tools like Facebook Insights can help determine optimal posting times, typically evenings and weekends [4:1].

Interactive Content

Creating interactive content such as polls, quizzes, surveys, and contests encourages followers to participate and share their opinions, thereby increasing engagement [1:2]. This type of content provides value and makes it more likely for users to like, comment, and share your posts. Eye-catching visuals, including high-quality images or videos, also tend to grab attention and inspire action [1:2].

Engagement with Audience

Engaging directly with your audience is vital. Responding to comments, liking posts, and participating in conversations shows that you care about your followers and creates a loop of interaction [1:5][4:1]. Being active in relevant communities and spending time on each platform engaging socially can enhance this effect [3:2].

Content Quality and Relatability

High-quality, relatable content is essential for engagement. Posts should be human and casual, connecting with everyday emotions through memes, real-life moments, or quotes [4:1]. Behind-the-scenes content and stories can make your brand more relatable and encourage engagement [4].

Avoiding Shortcuts and Building Organically

Attempting shortcuts like buying followers can harm engagement due to algorithmic penalties [5:1]. Building engagement organically through consistent quality content and strategic advertising is more effective. If starting anew, consider deleting botted accounts and focusing on organic growth through shoutouts from niche-related pages [5:5].

By applying these strategies, you can increase engagement on social media platforms effectively and sustainably.

You can use interactive content to increase engagement on social media posts. This includes polls, quizzes, surveys, and contests encouraging followers to participate and share their opinions.

By creating interactive content, you provide value to your audience and increase the chances of them liking, commenting, and sharing your post with others. Another way to boost engagement is using eye-catching visuals such as high-quality images or videos.

Visuals tend to grab people's attention more than plain text posts and evoke emotions or inspire action. You can use tools like Outgrow to create such experiences. It's a no-code tool to create interactive content in minutes.

I’m looking to help small content creators reach more people. If you’re interested in having someone spreading your content to different mediums DM and we can try to work something out.

I am asking for payment but the amounts are negotiable.

Great question! There are some effective strategies but the #1 rule for increased engagement is consistency. If your social media pages go quiet for weeks, your followers won’t engage because they’re not sure if anyone is there. You have to create quality content, post at the time your audience is most active, and run ads to target your relevant audience. You can also try services like Marketing Heaven (google). I used them and had good results results. Use a clear call to action that tells your audience what you want them to do next. It's great for engagement. Do you want them to like the post or to add a comment? Click a link or something else? Tell them! Also, interact with your audience by asking questions and responding to comments. Let people know you care about their feedback. Use popular and relevant hashtags, run contests and giveaways, and use attractive visuals such as photos, infographics, and videos to make your content more engaging.

Increasing your engagement on different social media platforms isn't something you can achieve overnight.

You need to maintain consistency and come up with the right scheduling strategy so that you get the most out of your content uploads and build a strong social presence.

Best ways to increase your social media engagement over time

Study your target audience

You cannot simply keep posting and hope that your target audience will find you in due time. You need to understand your target audience and cater your messaging as per their preferences and pain points.

Personalize your content

Personalization is the key that can help you drive the right traffic to your site. It will help you stand out among other posts in user feeds and get more visibility on social sites.

Personalize your content to reach different segments of your target audience using social media personalization tools like Selli.

Interact with other users in the comments

Another great way to increase your social media engagement is to interact with followers in comments. You can reply to the top 5 or 10 comments on your latest post or even go further and drop a comment of encouragement in your most loyal followers.

Try cross-posting

You can also drive more engagement to your social media profile by simply cross-posting your content on other social media platforms or even community pages on the same social site.

This will increase your profile's discoverability and with more interest leads checking out your profile the engagement metric will automatically get a boost.

Keep up with the trend

If you want to create an everlasting presence on any social media platform and keep on engaging your followers you need to stay up to date with the latest trend be it content format, the latest features introduced on each platform, or the trending topic of discussion.

Conclusion

Even though you will need patience, hard work, and consistency to improve your engagement over time. There are certain tools you can use to make this process easier.

Selli is a hyper-personalization tool that helps you craft tailored content for the right audience you want to reach on all popular social sites as well as on emails and landing pages.

Helping you increase your chances to create a better presence as well as engagement on your chosen social media platform faster.

I hope this helps.

All the very best!

How can I increase engagement on social media posts?

Posted by ohmygoditsnancy · in r/marketing · 5 years ago

Howdy!

When I post on social media from our business accounts it seems really hit and miss, but all I want is some comments from our customers or a tweet back to gauge a response.

We can see the post has been seen by X amount of people, but the only time we get comments is if we do a prize draw.

Should we add questions to our posts? Tailor the language? Re-consider structures? Is there somewhere that has the “ultimate guide for social media”?

I won’t lie - I’m very new to the “game”, so any help would be appreciated please!

All the best,

Ya gal, Nancy ‍♀️

Questions in posts don't work as well as they used to. Try to show behind the scenes stuff if possible. Otherwise, just be as social as you can. Don't just post and leave. Spend 15-20 min on each platform just being social. Follow others, like other posts, comment on them, etc. This works especially well on Instagram. On Facebook now you can participate in groups as a biz page, so look for local groups too.

When was the last time you engaged with Brand/business social media? If so what was the content? I would say "make engaging content" which is like "just be yourself" lol. Sooo, here's the question

  1. What's the goal on social media? Is it engagement or other?
  2. Why your customers would engage with your brand or content? Also what will they gain by engaging?

My advice would be, if you're only job is social media presence, sure go all in trying to make your customers engage with your brand. But if you have other things to do, I wouldnt care less.

Simple strategies to explode your facebook engagement

Posted by R3LOGICS · in r/MarketingGeek · 5 months ago

Here’s how you can significantly boost your Facebook engagement with simple yet powerful strategies:

1. Post When Your Audience is Active

Timing is crucial! Use Facebook Insights to determine when your followers are most active and schedule your posts accordingly. Typically, evenings and weekends see higher engagement.

2. Create High-Quality, Shareable Content

People engage with content that adds value. Use eye-catching images, engaging videos, and well-written captions to attract attention. Share stories, behind-the-scenes content, and user-generated posts to foster community interaction.

3. Ask Questions & Encourage Conversations

Posts that ask for opinions, preferences, or experiences spark discussions. Try polls, “This or That” comparisons, or open-ended questions to encourage followers to comment.

4. Use Facebook Stories & Reels

Stories and Reels are highly visible and interactive. Use them for quick updates, behind-the-scenes moments, or fun challenges to keep your audience engaged daily.

5. Leverage Contests & Giveaways

People love free stuff! Organize simple contests where users have to like, comment, or share to participate. Just ensure the prize is relevant to your brand to attract the right audience.

6. Reply to Comments & Messages Quickly

Engagement is a two-way street. Respond to comments and messages promptly to show your audience you care, which encourages more interaction.

7. Use Engaging Call-to-Actions (CTAs)

Guide your audience on what to do next. Simple CTAs like “Tag a friend who needs this,” “Drop an emoji if you agree,” or “Share this if you found it helpful” can drive more interactions.

8. Leverage Facebook Groups

Join or create groups related to your niche. Engaging in group discussions and sharing valuable insights can drive traffic and engagement to your main page.

9. Go Live

Live videos receive significantly more engagement than pre-recorded ones. Host Q&A sessions, behind-the-scenes tours, or product demonstrations to interact with your audience in real time.

10. Analyze & Optimize

Use Facebook Insights to track what works. Double down on high-performing content and tweak underperforming posts for better results.

By implementing these strategies consistently, you can see a massive increase in your Facebook engagement.

One of the easiest ways to boost your Facebook engagement is by making your posts more human and relatable. People connect better with casual content like funny memes, real-life moments, or even simple quotes that reflect everyday emotions.

Try asking questions or creating small polls to spark conversations. Short videos or reels also perform way better than just text posts. And timing matters too, so post when your audience is actually online.

Engage back with your audience. Like their comments, reply quickly, and show that you care. It creates a loop where more people interact and your reach keeps growing naturally.

How can I build social media engagement fast

Posted by DramaticGas2 · in r/dropship · 5 years ago

After weeks of long work, I've finished my website and I have my ads ready. But i need to build social media engagement just in case potential customers check my social media. I created an account on Facebook and IG and in an effort to cut corners I bought 500 followers on IG but my engagement is out of wack and I can't get any likes on my posts.

I tried doing #likeforlike and stuff and nothing, not a single like. And I don't even know where to begin with Facebook, I stopped using it a decade ago so everything on there seems way more complicated than IG.

What is the fastest way to cut corners and get good engagement so I can finally start running ads and earn $. I only have a giveaway in mind right now.

If you’re still using the botted account, delete it and restart. Your engagement will forever be ruined because of it. I run 200k worth of followers on Instagram and I know how the Instagram algorithm works and bots basically destroy engagement. If you want more info on the algorithm just pm me or reply, but you won’t see any likes on your posts when over half your following is bots.

If you want organic followers, buy shoutouts from big pages similar to your niche. (For example if you sell dog toys, buy shoutouts from a dog picture page). If anyone needs social media advice lmk, even though most of my expertise is in the entertainment side of Instagram, I still know a lot. Good luck.

Post content that is both relative to your niche and high quality. Your social media accounts are important, as they're the face of your brand. As you know now, buying followers won't get you anyway, I found that out the hard way. You'll also need to be careful that you're not banned, as it's easy to have your account terminated if you've bought followers.

Once you have some good content, you can promote it in Facebook or IG to your relative audience. The fastest way to get engagement if your content is good is investing more in advertisement.

You could also buy shoutouts from pages that are popular in your niche. This is a good way of getting good organic traffic.

How to Get More Engagement Without Trying Too Hard

Posted by ViralMango · in r/viralmango_ · 7 months ago

Let’s talk about social media engagement—because let’s be real, if you’re just posting and ghosting, you’re basically screaming into the void

Why Engagement Matters

Engagement isn’t just about feeling popular—it gives more visibility, reach, and even sales. More engagement means people your content, so the algorithm loves you too. And when the algorithm loves you? BOOM—more people see your content.

Here’s a hack creators don’t use enough. Don’t just post and hope for the best. Engage BEFORE you post. Think of it like warming up before a workout—except instead of stretching, you’re out there liking, commenting, and hyping up other people’s content. Do this, and when you finally post? The algorithm is like, “Oh hey, this person is active. Let’s boost their post too!”

If you want more followers and engagement, you can also try this technique:

  1. Find influencers in your niche.
  2. Look at who’s engaging with their posts.
  3. Follow those people and engage with their content. Why? Because they’re already interested in your industry, and they’re likely to check you out too.

Another tip: Social media posts have the lifespan of a mayfly. But you can stretch it! The first 20 minutes after posting? CRUCIAL. That’s when you need engagement the most. And here’s a sneaky trick: delay replying to comments. If your post is dying out, drop a reply, and BAM—it’s back in the feed. Don’t have comments on your posts? Add the first comment yourself.

So, if you want to stop screaming into the void and actually get seen, remember: engage before you post, time your comments, and be active!

Increasing/preserving instagram engagement is working constantly. There is no magic trick (unfortunately 😅). In short, the ways to achieve that is constantly posting content and keep being relevant to your audience, good use of hashtags - there are plenty of apps that can help you with that and a nice "trick" is collaborating with a "competing influencer" to cross-promote content. In short, try always to be relevant to your audience & other influencers :)

Good luck!

Wake up at 6 AM and grab your phone. First task of the day: Twitter. Fire off a few tweets to stay active, throw in some trending hashtags, and retweet something so people think you’re paying attention.

At 7 AM, it’s time for Pinterest. Create a bunch of eye catching vertical pins with keyword rich descriptions. Check Pinterest trends because obviously you need to know what’s hot before you post.

8 AM means Instagram. Like posts, comment on everything, reply to DMs, post a story, and throw in a reel. Make sure your bio is optimized because if someone lands on your page and doesn’t see a clear CTA, they will leave forever.

9 AM is all about Facebook. Jump into groups, start a conversation, reply to discussions, and maybe go live. What will you talk about? No idea, but you have to do it.

10 AM is LinkedIn time. Post something smart, comment on industry posts, and run a poll so people can engage while pretending to work.

At noon you take a break. Sort of. Technically, this is lunch, but you’ll be replying to comments while pretending to eat. Also, check your analytics because if engagement is down, you need to rethink your entire strategy.

At 1 PM, it’s TikTok time. Be funny, educational, and relatable all at once. Use trending sounds, create short engaging videos, and reply to comments with a video.

2 PM. Oh no. YouTube. You have to plan, script, film, and edit something high quality because people expect that now.

At 4 PM, back to Twitter. Reply to people who ignored your morning tweets, post something new, and retweet another piece of valuable content.

5 PM is the engagement sweep. Go back to every platform, reply to new comments, like more posts, and make sure no one feels ignored.

6 PM. Dinner. Kind of. You’ll be checking engagement while eating.

At 8 PM, it’s the final Instagram and Facebook check. Post one last story so you stay in people’s feeds. Maybe go live again. Maybe this time someone will join.

At 10 PM, TikTok and Pinterest get the final push. Scroll TikTok for inspiration but accidentally doom scroll for two hours. Schedule some fresh pins so tomorrow looks productive.

At midnight, sleep. Maybe. Set the alarm for 6 AM so you can do it all over again. 🫡

Tbh just boost a post on Facebook like $50, and make sure your targeting is good. You should get hundreds of likes in no time, if the content is interesting and relevant.

Or you can do a Facebook ad and set the objective to Page Likes.

Create very unique, original, and meaningful content. Every piece of content you produce is a free advertisement for your channel on the platform. If it is a copy paste of everything else out there, it gets lost. Be valuable, entertaining, informative, funny, or motivational in a unique way and YouTube, instagram, Twitter, and other people will do all the marketing for you.

My main tip, follow as many people as you can. I look after the marketing for a small charity (voluntary) , we’ve just gone over 1100 followers on Instagram. Before the lockdown we were on 700 ish, but I just went through the lists of people other people follow and followed those who I thought were appropriate. It’s boring, buts it’s free and works.

For engagement, post interesting stuff that’s always relevant and unique. We’ve posted some funny stuff to keep peoples spirits up during the lockdown, along with daily quizzes for people to do for example.

How I Boosted Engagement by 600% – The Simple Social Media Strategies That Actually Work!

Posted by DM-wizard · in r/socialmedia · 6 months ago

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to be part of a group discussion about the challenges of social media. I genuinely enjoyed it. The way everyone shared and gained insights from each other's experiences was truly impressive. Today, I want to highlight some key takeaways from that conversation, along with my own insights on social media algorithms based on my personal experiments and their impact on reach and engagement.

Increasing Engagement on a Low-Performing or New Social Media Account (Instagram & Facebook)

One of the biggest mistakes I’ve noticed is the lack of a strategic approach to social media content. Many businesses post randomly without a clear objective. I experienced this firsthand while managing social media for a Hotel business. During my initial assessment, I observed that they were posting a mix of unrelated content—such as food photos from their in-house restaurant and occasional promotions—without any consistency. As a result I’ve seen an average of just 5-6 likes per post with little to no engagement.

To turn things around, I focused on three key content strategies, aligning them with how people use social media. In most cases, users engage with content for entertainment, information, or knowledge. Additionally, there’s a fourth category: raw, minimally edited footage that people watch purely out of curiosity or relaxation. For instance, I might come across a video of someone cooking fish in a remote, scenic location. I’m not watching it because I plan to do the same, but it provides a sense of relaxation, especially with soothing background sounds.

Execution Strategy for a Hotel Industry Account

Since this was a hotel business, I structured the content accordingly:

  1. Informational Content: One of their unique selling points was late-night check-ins without extra charges. Instead of paying for a full day, guests only paid for the duration of their stay (with a minimum required payment). To make this engaging, I used creative hook lines like, “Before booking your next trip, check this out…” followed by a breakdown of how their flexible check-in policy worked and how that can lower the travel cost.
  2. Entertainment Content: I created and posted memes related to travel and hotel experiences. These memes combined video clips that delivered humor and relatability to the audience they experienced in a funny way.

Initially, I experimented with different content types, analyzing what performed best. In this case, memes and informational content stood out, so I began posting them in a structured ratio. This consistency was crucial because social media algorithms prioritize accounts that repeatedly post content within a specific niche. By doing this, I trained the algorithm to recognize the account as an authority in the hospitality space, ensuring that our content reached the right audience.

Results Achieved

With this approach, I saw a significant shift in metrics. In just two months of consistent and frequent posting, engagement increased by nearly 20%.

After managing the account for six months, the results were remarkable:

  • A 600% increase in followers
  • A 70% increase in engagement, especially in comments
  • A significant rise in website traffic that resulted out from a well-planned content funnel

The Role of Hashtags in Organic Growth

Another key factor in achieving better reach is training social media algorithms to understand post context. Instead of using a mix of random hashtags, it’s essential to be specific.

For example, while managing the hotel’s social media, I had to differentiate between posts about rooms, banquet halls, and the on-site restaurant. Instead of using broad, mixed hashtags, I kept them highly relevant. A restaurant-related post only included restaurant-specific hashtags, such as #bestrestaurant or #veganrestaurant. This helped the algorithm categorize the post correctly and target the right audience.

Additionally, checking the popularity of hashtags is crucial. Using hashtags with millions of posts can cause content to get lost in the crowd. Instead, selecting medium-range hashtags increases visibility and reach.

The Power of Organic Growth

This strategy has helped me grow multiple accounts and generate sales while boosting brand awareness—all without relying on ads. An organic approach builds a strong and lasting brand presence, leaving a lasting impression on customers. Though I somehow used the boosting feature but very occasionally.

Final Thoughts

Next time you sit down to design your social media strategy, start by applying some of these techniques on a small scale. You’ll definitely see some good results! If you came across something else that worked for you, please do share it in the comments section.

Totally spot on about consistency Had a similar situation with our caf's Instagram. Once we started theming our posts around local events and our best-sellers, engagement shot up. People love a good story, even in photos

What does 600% mean? It could be going from 1 to 7 followers, or it could be 100,000 to 700,000 - big difference. How did that equate to revenue generation?

Thanks for posting that question. What I mean by 600% is that initially, the account was almost dead, with around 1K followers. They were constantly posting random content without solid analysis of the metrics—without knowing what was working and what wasn’t.

However, with a proper content strategy and planning based on metrics and analysis, the account grew to 6K followers in about six months.

Now, regarding revenue generation, as I mentioned, I used the content funnel strategy to drive customers from our social handle to the website. Let me tell you something that you might have noticed too. When you search for a keyword on Google, sometimes an Instagram account of a brand appears on the first page.

This usually happens when the algorithm understands your niche. When engagement increases, the algorithm starts recognizing the account as an authority on that niche keyword and places it in potential search results primarily on search engines rather than specific social media platforms untill they belong to same platform like Insta and facebook.

I know it's trivial, but 1k to 6k is a 500% increase not 600%.

But you also didn't answer the revenue question, did this convert to £'s or $'s? What was the conversion on those 6,000 followers, how much MRR has been created?
