What game are you playing? Java Edition, Bedrock Edition, or Legacy Edition?

If you aren’t on the same network, try using aternos or minehut

You need to make a server to do that

If you are on the same WiFi then you can just start a normal world and then when you load in go to setting and open to lan. You can then modify settings for him or just leave it how it is.

If you're all on the same wifi use lan

Rent a server or realms

If u have too much money- REALMS If u haven't got too much money- servers

Step one:get friends Step two:get minecraft Step three: make sure they all have minecraft Step four: LAN party

Your game isn't loading right and giving you the old UI, which won't let you join online friends, as it doesn't populate

Try restarting your device and go to a place with better wifi connection, if that doesn't work make sure you and your friend does the same. Let me know if it works!

If you play on console you need an online subscription

You have to invite your friend to your world or your friend have to invite you to world

This, Minecraft.net states: This live event is open to all Bedrock players, and you can bring some friends along or make some new ones in the village square. Yet there is no play along with friends options.

It's pretty bad that this isn't something we can group with friends for. My son and I have been looking forward to this. There's even an "Invite to Game" button but it's greyed out.

We've been trying to land on the same server by hitting Connect at the same time - but no luck.

They advertise that you can play with friends, yet has zero way to actually play with friends & then any friends you might make, you'd never be able to play it with them again once you both disconnect.

They definitely dropped the ball with this

What a huge misplay. Like how the hell can you not allow people to group up before joining. Like I want to play with my 2 kids, but I can't get in the same server. Soooo stupid.

You don’t need to have a server there is a mod you can get which enables multiplayer without a server

If you want to play together, yes you'll need a server. There's free hosting sites all over, or you could look into a paid one like Shockbyte or Pebblehost.

If you want to try a LAN world you can try Himachi.

So I got a server and my mods work on my end but not on his. I thought there was a way to have mods on the server so he didn’t need to install them? Or is that just for realm?

I mean there is a possibility you could run the essential mod but may be intensive on whoever's hosting. If you're looking for other free alternatives, I'd actually recommend aternos, it's very bare bones but it'll get the job done

If you aren’t on the same wifi you can use a program called hamachi by a company called logmein.

I use ngrok but, hamachi may be the best for <5 players

You can host a server on your own pc.

Or you can port forward your singleplayer world

They just join my world when I’m on it
