TL;DR Publishing on Webtoon is free and straightforward. Use the desktop version of the site to access publishing features, and explore Webtoon Canvas for self-publishing.
Webtoon Canvas Platform
Webtoon Canvas is the self-publishing section of Webtoon where creators can upload their comics for free. This platform is widely recognized as a starting point for webcomic creators due to its ease of use and large audience base [1:2]. To publish on Webtoon Canvas, you need to adhere to their content guidelines, which are available on their website
[1:1].
Publishing Process
To publish a webtoon, you must use the desktop version of the Webtoon website, as the mobile app does not support publishing features [3:3]
[5:1]. Once on the desktop site, you can find the 'publish' button near your profile icon
[5:3]. The process is free, and your work becomes immediately available to audiences
[1:4].
Additional Resources
For more detailed guidance, Webtoon offers resources through their Creators 101 section, which provides comprehensive information on how to upload and manage your series [2:1]. There are also tutorials available on platforms like YouTube that can offer visual step-by-step instructions
[2:1].
Exploring Multiple Platforms
While Webtoon is a popular choice, some creators suggest posting on multiple platforms to maximize exposure. Alternatives include Tapas, NamiComi, and MangaPlus, each catering to different audiences and offering unique benefits [4:1]. Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter can also be valuable for promoting your webtoon and reaching a broader audience
[4:1].
By following these steps and utilizing available resources, you can effectively publish your webtoon and share your creative work with the world.
I'm a intermediate artist that has found beauty in creating my art digitally and have felt extremely motivated to finally put my artwork and stories out there for the world to see. I feel confident in my unique ideas, but feel like there are rocks in my head when it comes to how to show my ideas. I know not a thing about actually publishing works, where and how! I figured Webtoonz would be a good source, but I'm not sure. I unfortunately have no sense of culture when it comes to the best place to publish my web comics. I want to post them where I can make it count. Any tips or resources? Anyone in this group that has done it before and has good pointers or warnings about it? I'm planning on doing web comic mini-series with a horror/fantasy style.
WEBTOON canvas, the self publishing section of WEBTOON, is the most well known place to post. It has its ups and downs, but it's probably the easiest place to get started on a webcomic making journey. There's a bunch of info on this page which will hopefully provide you with a bit more insight.
If you have any particular questions, feel free to ask!
Thank you so much!! Is there a fee to uploading works? Does it need to be glossed over before being shown to audiences?
Publishing is free and available to audiences immediately
How do I actually publish a webtoon? I looked at the FAQ on the web site and it gave me no applicable answers.
Hello. You can find information about how to upload a series/comic on WEBTOON by clicking on Creators 101 at the top of the site. Here is the link https://www.webtoons.com/en/creators101/webtoon-canvas

I want to make a webcomic, but I don’t have absolutely no idea how to post it so anyone who’s experienced in publishing wanna give me a hand?
And while we’re here, what tips would you give to writers who are just in it for fun or the experience?
I think you can try opening the webtoon website and switch to the desktop version on your mobile. Then the publish button and all should be there.
I don't think you can post webtoons on the mobile app 😓
Dang… okay, thanks
Open the website of webtoon on chrome , set it to desktop version, and then you can see a 'publish' button there then just login and you can publish your work
For reducing the sizes for the webtoon format, you can go and search lemoon tools, there you can do it .
I really dont know where to post my Manga. Ive like only heard bad things about Webtoon and its alternatives. Im not quite fond about just posting it on social Media, since I don't think ill reach alot of people and also copyright reasons. Publishing with a big Publisher is frightening to me because they then have the rights of my Story and I dont want that. And self publishing just sounds like SO much work. I just want to know your Opinions on the topic so I can publish my Manga in the best way possible.
Mangaplus creators is good brother 👍🏻
Mangaplus creators
Great manga page, first of all! And secondly, don’t limit yourself to one site over the other. I think there’s advantages to posting on multiple platforms. The most important thing will be getting eyes on your story. So I’ll recommend posting it on NamiComi (a new site with potential); Webtoons/Tapas (simply bc there’s potential for more views and it has more users); and mangaplus (since it’s actually catered to real mangaka and you can gain notoriety if it gets popular). Don’t underestimate social media, though. Think of instagram, TikTok, twitter, and even Reddit as away to get people’s attention; as long as u have more eyes, you can lead them to ur bio or story to go directly to your comic. Think of social media as an advertising tool, and webcomic sites as your store/shop. Just be consistent in being your own marketer and still be consistent with your manga journey. Good luck, hope that helps!
Thanks alot for your thoughts. Ill keep that in mind once I get to publishing.
I just wanna say that the dodging bullet panel is rlly rlly cool
Thanks alot. One of my favorite panels I drew so far.
Nice
I have just started drawing a webtoon, but I have no idea where to publish it. There are a lot of different sites with manga ig, but none of all I've seen gave me an opportunity to post. I have visited "webtoon" app and there was no such function too... Helppp
I have to use desktop version to publish my comics no matter the platform.
If you go on the website, using desktop version of it, (if ur mobile) There's an option to publish near your profile icon I think.
To publish most sites will require to go to their website rather than the app. I know for sure this is true with both WEBTOON and Tapas.
Oh, I should try it
I am a comic writer looking to make profit off of his work, and have been thinking about giving Webtoon a shot. I understand the chances of being popular, which is what makes me unsure if I should even try it.
I have a comic in the works, and I'd prefer printing it physically, which makes me wonder if I could even pull that off if I were to put it on Webtoon first.
I figured I'd reach out on here as part of my research.
I am writing a traditional comic formatted for printing. My artist and I decided to format and release it on webtoons so we can see if the story works and flows and maybe get feedback. Having it up on webtoons helps me see art or storytelling mistakes that can be corrected for the print version.
I find it motivating/satisfying to release a webtoon chapter while working on the physical version since it’s getting out there. We don’t have a large audience but I like doing it that way.
Also webtoons has strict censorship so our print comic will have things that aren’t allowed in the webtoons. that ends up being the pg-13 version. And we will add filler panels sometimes for fun that won’t be in the printed one. So it won’t fully be spoiling the physical version when it comes out.
Well, webtoons have been growing a lot—recently, even DC Comics announced other series in that format and plans to invest more in it. I believe this will become a new way of consuming comics around the world.
Now, if you're thinking about doing a print version, then it’s a case of designing the work with both formats in mind—print and digital—which would require a bit of extra work.
Years ago, maybe, but definitely not now.
Here's a post by one of the first Canvas creators to join the platform and why she's leaving, just from like, yesterday:

There's no way around having to market yourself, quadruply so if you want to make even a little money. There's no such thing as a cheap, easy, built-in audience, not even at Webtoon anymore. Sure, the "modern audience" might be there, but they're not paying. Your art is just free content for them to glance at and then move onto the next thing. Think about what you actually want out of this thing and be prepared to do the hard graft of getting it, especially if your goal is books.
Thank you for reaching out with the link!
Honestly after all the comments I got so far, and talking with the one working on my current project, I think I'll pass on Webtoon.
Good choice! You've saved yourself a lot of headache imo.
If you want free hosting, there's Comic Fury, but I always recommend folks self-host if for no other reason than to have complete control over your body of work. And believe it or not, plenty of people still visit websites. (Especially the paying ones.) Best of luck.
Thanks for sharing this. It was very enlightening.
It's free to submit so what do you have to lose?
I wouldn't plan on making any money publishing on a platform like Webtoon, unless you're prepared to spend a ton of money on marketing.
Write on, write often!
I’d love to reach out and help you post it
Oh I post it already!
Talk about overkill ur art is just wow
Thank you very much
To answer your questions yes And can you teach me ur ways
Viz oneshot program
Man! I wonder if your planning for a monthly or bi-weekly manga because Jesus
Nah, It's just a oneshot
reminds me of some of the early days of holyland
just finished the concept/writing stage of a oneshot i want to publish. nothing too serious, just something i wanted to write. but i was wondering where i could publish it? i thought webtoon, but it doesn’t really fit the manga format im striving for
are there any websites where one can publish their work? thanks in advance
Globalcomix is pretty cool from my experience. Very easy to work with
Mangadex
Manga plus creators and globalcomix are probably the top 2 sites indie mangaka publish on imo
How do I publish a webtoon on a phone when I look it up if find nothing. some people say to go to the publish page but i don't have one all there is, is: for you, original, canvas, my and more. Some people also say to go to canvas and then to the create in the corner but there is not a create in the corner.
Don’t recommend it put there’s a tutorial on YouTube already on that, basically you Winn need to switch from mobile mode to desktop mode on your browser settings. Again I don’t recommend it on phone, it would be better if you had a tablet but you can cut your images onto cropy and download it into your external drive on phone. I don’t think cropy will save to pictures because it tends to put them in a folder.
Ok thanks
Not working for some reason, switched it to desktop mode and still can't find the button.
Same thing happened to me :/
You have to do it on desktop. Log in to your account and click publish, navigating from there is pretty easy. You create your series, for which you'll need a banner, cover and series description, as well as a few other things. Once you've created that, you can go to your canvas dashboard to publish new episodes.
For each episode, you'll need a thumbnail and the panels you want to upload, in Webtoon format dimensions - 300x300px for the thumbnail, 800x1280 for the comic panels (although if they are shorter than 1280px that's fine, since it won't result in stretching). I recommend using Croppy, which can crop things to both webtoon and tapas format. Here is the link for that: https://knicknic.github.io/croppy/
I hope that helps, and I'm excited to see your series!

I have just started drawing a webtoon, but I have no idea where to publish it. There are a lot of different sites with manga ig, but none of all I've seen gave me an opportunity to publish. I have visited "webtoon" app and there was no such function too... Where do you usually read manhwa? Helppp
if you mean webtoons.com, then you need to go to its desktop site, you cannot publish on the app (or at least i cant)
Thanks!
Webtoon canvas would be thr place place!
I genuinely have no clue either so i cant help u
Just tell me, where do you read manga?
WEBTOON CANVA
Mangadex, and webtoon are your places. Webtoon is good about supporting talented new creators. Does this mean you will be successful? who knows.
But I definitely recommend google as a first solution next time you cant find the answers too a important question.
A manhwa about Sambo sounds super cool and unique. I barely ever hear about sambo as it is so I’d love to read this when it’s published
Looks very interesting I wish you the best 💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
