What Redditors are Saying

Tapas vs Webtoon Monetization

TL;DR Both platforms offer monetization opportunities, but Webtoon generally has a larger audience and pays more to established creators. Tapas offers more community engagement and creator-friendly features.

Audience and Monetization

Webtoon is known for having a larger audience, which can be beneficial for creators looking to gain exposure [1:2], [5:4]. This platform boasts an average payout of $48k per year for professional creators, although this includes creators from Wattpad and Korea [5:4]. Tapas, on the other hand, supports creators through views and donations, such as their ink system, which allows readers to support creators financially [4:4], [4:6].

Creator Experience

Tapas is generally considered more creator-friendly, offering features like high-quality image uploads, music integration, and better customization options [3:1], [3:2]. It also provides a supportive community with active forums and feedback systems [1:3]. However, Tapas tends to have fewer readers compared to Webtoon [3:1].

Reader Experience

Webtoon prioritizes the reader experience, offering free access to many series and a smoother app interface [1:2], [2:2]. While Tapas has a more interactive comment section, it can be challenging to navigate and find free content [1:4], [2:4]. The restrictions on Webtoon, such as file type limitations, are believed to contribute to its user-friendly performance [3:3].

Charity and Community Contributions

Tapas has unique programs where creators can donate their earnings to charities, providing an opportunity for social impact [4:1], [4:11]. This aspect may appeal to creators who wish to contribute to causes while pursuing their creative endeavors.

Recommendations for New Creators

For new creators, leveraging both platforms for exposure might be beneficial, as suggested by some users [5:2], [5:8]. Starting with Patreon or freelance work could also be more lucrative initially, as direct monetization from these platforms can be minimal for beginners [5:2], [5:5]. Building a following and promoting your work on social media are crucial steps before expecting significant income [5:7].

ORIGINAL POST

Question for both readers and creators:
What are your preferences between the more popular webtoon apps (Line Webtoon, Tapas, Tappytoon, etc.), and why?

I've been casually reading series on the Line Webtoon app for the last couple of years and appreciated that everything is free (or.. eventually becomes free if you have the patience to use Daily Pass for completed series. Was a little bummed about that when it was implemented, but in the end I'm okay knowing I'll still be able to access the next chapter the next day). Saw that they started giving the option to unlock episodes by watching ads on some things and hope that gets implemented on a wider scale since it's more convenient for me.
I've just downloaded Tapas too and am trying to get used to the interface, because I got some IG ads for series with art styles that piqued my interest. Definitely getting more of a romance/shoujo sphere vibe from the app so far in the first 5 minutes; not complaining though. I can be trash for that stuff in the right mood. I like that there are different ways to earn Ink but haven't gotten into it yet.
I tried out Tappytoon quite a few years ago and I think I didn't have any free way of unlocking chapters for something back then, so I abandoned it -- not sure if I should re-download it.

I'm curious to hear from both creators and other readers as to why they may prefer one app over the others (including unlisted ones). From browsing other posts, it seems that Tapas seems more friendly to creators while Webtoon seems more friendly to readers -- agree/disagree? Complaints or praise about app interface, overall content, art styles, stories, genres, variety, overall experience...?
Would love to hear your thoughts!

I think the experience is really different based on being a reader vs a creator. I've mostly been a reader and exclusively on Webtoon and find the experience there much better.

I checked out Tapas a while back and while I liked the forums and the tight-knit community/ social media aspect, it was really difficult to find new series to read if you didn't want to pay for the premium comics. I found the UI much more difficult.

Webtoon is 100% geared towards the reader's experience vs the creator while Tapas is geared towards the creator's experience (as seen in GloamingCat's response). They also market very heavily so they are constantly getting new readers, especially with the recent K-drama adaptations (Sweet Home and True Beauty) and Lore Olympus marketing.

Most creators want to be where there are more readers as there will be more opportunities to make revenue and build an audience. So even though Webtoon lacks a lot of features for creators, I do think of it as a better option in general.

I hate Line Webtoons. Both as a reader and as a creator. The login is buggy, the staff takes forever (if ever) to answer emails, there are character limits for everything, they take down Canvas comics over petty reasons, the creators have no control over their comment section and they never receive notifications for new comments/likes/subs.

Tapas has a very attentious staff, very active and helpful forums, user profiles (with profile pics!), private messages (desktop only tho), tag system, feedback notifications, more customization for your comic, support system (through ink), detailed dashboard stats, and you can delete hateful comments on your episodes whenever you want. They also have automatic scroll-to-next-episode, which makes it better to read when the episodes are short.

The advantages of Line: it's got a simplier interface so it's easier to use, a bigger audience, and the option to put your comic in two genre lists. That's it.

I use both, but whenever I see a comic I like available on both sites, I pick Tapas. I rarely consume the Premium comics on Tapas, though. I like the free/indie ones better. I also think that the Tapas comics are more LGBT-friendly and the audience is more mature.

Never used Tapytoon.

thank you for the insight! I'm just a reader but since joining this subreddit I've grown more curious about how creators' experiences are like and your reply was really helpful. I didn't know about the difference between creator control over comment section in particular (even as a reader, I actively try to not see the comments as I scroll to the next chapter).

AS a reader, I find Tapas to be hard to navigate - finding a good comic that's free to read and doesn't require waiting is difficult. A lot of the comics I follow on there don't update with any regularity. But the comment section is pretty much always good - people giving actual feedback about the comic instead of just saying random shit for likes. I mean I even gave really critical feedback to one comic and ended up being like the 4th-highest voted comment for the chapter. On webtoon if you have the audacity to give any sort of negative feedback, you get downvoted to oblivion, no matter how polite you were, but comments that are like "It's my birthday tomorrow, plz give me top comment" get 3000 upvotes.

It's funny that the different unofficial/pirate "read manga for free" websites have much better interfaces than either LineWebtoon OR Tapas. It's so much easier to navigate on like bato.to and stuff than on any of the official, legal comic websites or apps.

i also prefer line webtoon. waiting one day is nothing compared to being forced to pay (also i don’t read that many daily pass anyway).

also, i’ve noticed that for ONGOING webtoons on most other apps, you have to pay for the middle chapters and i’m just like why

Why is Webtoon's Uploading So Restricted? (Compared to Tapas) >:(

Why is Tapas so much better than Webtoon in terms of uploading?

Tapas can upload bigger files. And way, way, bigger files, so you can have long episodes with out splitting them up. Also, PNGs! Webtoon only lets you upload JPGs, which is annoying.

Why does Webtoon have so many restrictions? Can't they change it to be more like Tapas?

Tapas also lets you add music from sound cloud and lets you upload a header, it has less readers but seems to have more options for creators. Webtoons seems to have readers prioritized over creators, which makes sense money wise, but webtoons wouldn’t be what it is without creators. At least give us notifications or something :/

Yeah, Tapas has much more freedom for creators. I honestly like the platform more because I can put actual high quality images etc + all the stuff you said, but you’re right about Tapas having less readers, I get a lot less viewers on Tapas.

I believe this makes it more reader friendly. More restrictions can lead to less breaking. Tbh yes we get more options as creators on tapas but their mobile app crashes all the time for me and is barely functional. The webtoon app runs much smoother. I’m no programmer so I can’t say for sure if the restrictions play to this but I would assume they do.

Tapas really ought to push that fact to creators.

I think it might have to do with the loading time it takes for different devices under different Networks. Png's are typically a bit larger send some more detailed. So by keeping it basic to everyone it's more accessible through different Networks. I could be wrong though

Webtoons vs tapas

Posted by bigchicago04 · in r/HeartstopperAO · 2 years ago

Is there any significant difference between the two? I’ve explored webtoons a bit and am kinda familiar, but I’m wondering if there’s a reason I should try tapas?

Basically, I’ve read all the released comics paperback, but I’m gonna start volume 5 online soon. Is there any benefit to doing it on tapas? Is one further along than the other? Have Better features? More side/web comics?

i like tapas better, because there's mire mini comics, (Alice used tapas before webtoon) and they pay her more for hitting a certain amount of views

Two major benefits of Tapas over Webtoons:

  1. Alice is part of the creator bonus program and all the revenue from that, from ads, and from ink (gifts) goes towards a monthly charity. To my knowledge Webtotns doesn’t offer a similar program, or if they do Alice isn’t a member of it.

  2. Not all mini/bonus comics or Q&As are put onto Webtoons, so Tapas has more of that content.

  1. Are you saying she profits off the ads as part of the creator bonus program, AND the charity thing, or are you saying they’re the same thing?
  2. Is there content on webtoons that is not on tapas too?

  1. The creator bonus program allows her to earn money from people reading the comics, viewing ads and donating ink. 100% of the revenue she earns on Tapas goes to charity.

Unfortunately a lot of fans don't seem to know about the monthly charity donations. Last month's donation was the biggest ever (probably got a bit of a boost thanks to the release of season 2) and even on Tapas people barely talked about it in the comments

Yes. And Alice donates that money every month to a different (usually LGBTQIA+) charity.

Last month it was 2570.93 $ (the highest amount raised since Alice started doing this) and it was donated to the largest and oldest Hungarian LGBTQIA+ organisation in response to a bookstore receiving a huge fine for selling Heartstopper.

Reading on tapas contributes indirectly to donations to charities that Alice supports, while on webtoon you can screngrab parts of the comics, which is not allowed on tapas. What i do is i read on tapas and if there's something i want to screengrab to send to a friend of mine to explain my reactions to what i'm reading i'll do it from webtoon

You can do both but they have different sizes for covers, thumbnails and so on so you'll have to make separate files for each. As to which pays better... If you're just starting out, you'll probably make more money off of Patreon. Use Webtoon and Tapas as platforms for publicity. The money you would make from them as a beginner is very little.

Should go and look into the FAQ or whatever for both. “Paying good” may just be for Originals on webtoon. Do they have any actual facts to support or just ideas?

1 upvotes on reddit
Rakuchin · 1 year ago

You probably don't want to go into comics, particularly on these two platforms if you're broke and need money, tbh. You won't make much to start, and you will be paid as a contractor, not an employee.

Webtoon in particular boasts a 48k average payout per year on average for professional creators (originals) in their SEC filing. What also seems to be noted there is that this average includes creators paid through Wattpad, as well as creators in Korea.

If you've got a promising project, you might want to look at what it takes to pitch to an agent and get into traditional publishing. At least then you'll have an agent to negotiate a fairer contract, and you're less likely to get lose IP rights you might later want to keep.

If you are truly intent on webcomics: most successful creators have a ton of projects behind them over years. If this is your first project, unless you are extremely lucky, you very likely have a long road ahead of you.

I'm sorry to have given you some disappointing news, but it is important to go in with your eyes open!

If you are amenable, below I'm going to include some more considerations so you can make an informed decision.

  • Are you old enough to sign a contract without an adult?
  • Would you be able to maintain the workload to produce 30~50 panels a week with school?
  • How long is the series you are aiming to pitch?
  • What is your turnaround time for 10 panels of comics? Can you maintain that turnaround time consistently for 40~50 panels?
  • Have you done 40~50 panels at print quality (300DPI) before, and can your drawing environment sustain the filesizes needed for this, potentially? (A low-end system may find issues loading the files, for instance.)
  • Can you afford to withhold approximately 35% of your earnings *yourself* to pay taxes when they are due? (if you're in the US; I have no idea what tax rates are like for any other countries.)
  • If you are working digitally: what software will you be using, and if it is not free, what is your budget like to pay for it?
  • If you are working traditionally: how much of your budget will go to acquiring and replacing supplies?

Tapas and Webtoon both need you to be legal adult age in order to get paid anyway, so you can't make money right now through those sites if you're a teenager. However, you may be able to do freelance illustration through commissions, though it can be hard to find clients when you're starting out. But, if you're posting somewhere where you have a bunch of followers who like your work, you can test the waters and just ask if anyone would be interested in commission work.

Another option is to make comic assets (so comic creators use brushes, 3d models, fonts, and other clip studio assets to make their comics. If you are a comic maker then you have a good idea of the assets we'd need to make our lives easier.) and then make them available to sell on gumroad. I don't think there's an age restriction there? you'd have to check.

This post is really helpful. I am currently working on my webtoon as well, i hope you're on the same boat op. Man, it's literally taking me months now and i haven't even completed my first chapter.

Anyway from what i heard, it is important that you start planning all the scripts and characters design, draft a completed story and make your first comic short first. Do not expect any instant income instead placed on a lower expectations. Spend time promoting your works, build connections and social medias. Once you have the right audiences, you can move on to other process.

I think the key is take up your pen and starts drawing.

I echo the previous comments, feel free to post them to both, or more!

I initially started with Tapas and used WT As my secondary, but as traction gained on the latter, Tapas became my secondary: whatever you do, and however many platforms you post to, keep in mind that it’s that many more platforms you will need to keep updated and interact with fans on, which — depending on the traction you get for your webtoon — might eat up a bit of your time :)

Best of luck!

You can post to as many platforms as you wish! :D Actually, it's good to branch out and try different platforms, because you never know which one could work best for you. Some comics might do better on Tapas, others might do better on WT. Posting to multiple sites is quite a bit of work, but I'd say it's worth it.

The only exception where you can't post your comic on multiple platforms is if you sign an exclusive contract with either Tapas or Webtoon to become an Original. Otherwise, you're free to post wherever you want :)

It's natural for paywalled sites. The no subscription method is a disadvantage for any customer. Anything good on Tapas is paywalled. Of course Tapas is still offering many rewards and gifts but it is still a limit for most.
Webtoons instead has almost no paywall for ongoing series so readers can do a binge reading without much hassle. Both platform has advantages and disadvantages.

Question about Tapas currency/ Ink

Posted by __MeanMrMustard__ · in r/webtoons · 2 years ago

I just learnt that when I fastpass Webtoon chapters with free coins it doesn't actually pay the creators. So what about Tapas ink? I completed a task few days back and earned like 13k ink and used almost all of it in the "support" feature. So does that actually pay the creators or was that a complete waste of time? 😓

Any insights from Tapas creators is greatly appreciated because this whole ink thing is very confusing for me as a reader. Thanks!

With the tipping system (where you directly donate ink to the creator) the creator gets almost all of it's ink (minus some processing fees I suppose). When you purchase episodes the creator gets a certain percentage similar to how webtoons fast passing system works.

So donating/tipping ink directly benefits the creator a lot more.

Not every creator has that system. It's usually just the english creators so not the korean imports. When you go to a series (tapas originals for example) and go into the "details" tab, scroll down to the creator and a big yellow "support" button shows up. There you can choose how much to donate to the creator!

I don't remember tapas seperating "free" and "paid" ink, but ink gained via playing games 100% counts as "paid" ink. So the ink you donated supportef the creator for sure :)

It still pays the creators, it just has to make back what they were paid in their contracted advance.

The biggest problems with creators publicizing their contracts is the misinformation that spreads from this.

You are still contributing to creators being paid. And just as importantly, even if a creator doesn't get past their advance "threshold", it can affect whether subsequent work by the creator is picked up by that same publisher.

I don't think webtoons original creators get money only when You unlock their title chapters with earned by money coins. In such scenario no one would try to publish anything there. Working on chapter with editor as aide takes practically one week for one episode minimum.

Well, i can assume, that coins are kind of virtual tokens You can point that some title is in more interesting area for You than others. But what if You buy coins but not use them anywhere? Don't You think it still funds platform? Original titles are like work for creators so there is no way they are not paid for it. They don't get paid in the time of preparation for next seasons which already was pointed by some authors - even if they need to spend time for it working with editors. Naver has many more closed titles and I am pretty sure that daughter company like Webtoons is in some way funds from Naver cash because there is no much ads in Webtoons and most readers are free ones or little spenders.

I did some math, Tapas is impossibly expensive, like $2,630 a year expensive

Posted by FutureWaffles · in r/webtoons · 5 months ago

Before I start all of this is assuming you are already caught up on your series's and don't need extra ink to catch up

Ok so first of you were to buy the $2 for every time that's 1,600 ink which is less than 4 series since 95% are 405 ink. So 1 cent is worth 8 ink and a single series is work 50 cents. So if you have 10 series that's $5 a week which is already absurd but personal I have over 100 series that I want to read which would be $50 A WEEK

But that's using the worst deal. So what would happen if you use the Best deal? Well turns out it's actually identical, not including the first buy bonus you get 80,000 ink for $100 which is also 8 ink a cent.

Even if you somehow got the first buy bonus every time it would still be around $34 a week or $1,600 a year.

And if you say I'm overestimating my comic count on Tapas, I looked on webtoon as well and I also have more than a hundred I am actively reading on there, I would give a more precise number but it cuts off after 100 on recently read

It would at least be reasonable if they had some kind of monthly subscription to read all comics, Even $50 a month would be at least four times better for every viewer.

I also wish they had a subscription option.

I’ve been able to make Tapas more affordable though by only buying ink during ink sales, always doing the Monday fortune cookie, checking the app every day for read-for-ink events they have for new releases and season returns, bingeathons, etc.

Also for most comics I tend to binge read on a pirate site and then bulk-buy episodes of the ones I enjoyed when they go on sale or there’s some kind of promo or I have bonus ink to burn.

Manta used to be a subscription based service but now they’ve introduced gems because they couldn’t keep bringing comics on a subscription based deal…something about licenses and whatnot. Now so many new comics are locked behind paid currency and it’s like…I came here because you were a subscription service but now you’re just like tapas and webtoon ☹️

and almost none of that ink really goes toward the creators either and the company is incredibly shady.

The capitalist shift is so crazy 😭 I remember a 12 y/o me reading my very first manhwas (Fisheye Placebo, Story of Su, Michelin Star, Golf Star) and a bunch of other original webcomics on Tapastic in 2013 for free, and by the time I was 17 they introduced ink as a way to tip creators and support the platform, which I was ecstatic to drop $5 here and there for. I eventually ended up switching exclusively to Webtoons in 2020 after a lot of my fave creators got picked up for WT Originals/Discover Ad-Rev, and every time I've come back to Tapas since, all of the smaller creator series have been buried beneath isekai/villainess/regression slop, and it's impossible digging through the new interface to find those same gems. Ink became a required currency for any interesting distributed series they publish, and 10/10 times I run right to the aggregator sites after looking at just how crazy the prices go to even get a few chaps in.

Watching the medium that introduced me to/made accessible my modern day favorite form of media crumble into an expensive cash grab, piece-by-piece and year-by-year, is wild.

Yikes that's a lot. Ink on tapas has always seemed pricey, and unfortunately has only gotten worse over the last few years. At least they give away a lot of free ink. Not enough to read the number of series that you would like, but I get enough to unlock somewhere between 5-15 episodes a week, which is enough for me. Between that, earning ink through the offerwall, and WUF, I haven't spent a cent on Tapas and have read plenty of series. All of that requires using the Tapas app tho, which I realize not every does.

Regardless, ink is clearly overpriced. And yeah, I'm kind of surprised they haven't introduce some sort of subscription service, but I have feeling the current system is lucrative enough they feel no reason to change.

How the heck do you get 5 to 15 episodes a week? I only get enough ink for 3 to 5 from the events, and 90% of the offer wall is literally impossible tasks So the only thing I can get from it is the the occasional 90 to 170 ink from the zip code thing.

I mean it's always been bad ever since they got rid of the free ink for watching ads thing, but it's just become unbearable ever since they got rid of the watch three ads for three episodes (which was already on select series only)

I went back and looked at my purchase history and I'd say 7-10 episodes worth is more regular lately, but there are definitely weeks where it's less or more than that. It's not unusual for there to be enough events going on that I'm completing one a day, so about 300 per day, plus the fortune cookie which usually ranges between 250-350 each week. Occasionally the events will work in my favor and they'll be multiple in a day, or I'll get 500 for a single event mission. And then there's times when I won't complete any for a few days.

As for the offerwall, yeah it's not great. Honestly haven't done much with it for months. The ones where you visit a podcast page seem to be the best; only takes a second and doesn't require you to do anything. I just tried it out of curiosity and earned 415 ink total, but who knows when the podcast offers will be back since there's not usually many of them (and some of the ones I tried just didn't work? idk). I currently have 19,000 ink saved up and usually only spend it when there is a sale on a series I've been waiting to finish, and some of that ink is probably from the good ol' days when ads were available lol. But I also like to take advantage of the rare weekends when there is a multiplier on the ink you earn.

Most of the series I'm currently reading are the ones that cost 338 ink per episode, so they're a bit cheaper than the newer series at 405. And my favorite series are all on hiatus except for two, so I really only worry about having enough for two episodes a week and spend the extra on completed series in preparation a binge later on.

And funny that you mentioned the three ads per day thing, I just saw it again for the first time in forever! But I've only seen it on The Crow's Prince, so maybe it's just a glitch since it would be uncharacteristically kind of Tapas to bring that back lol

Manta actually had a subscription only model for comics, but started having some with the standard pay per episode model. I found out while I was waiting for my replacement credit card so I never bothered signing up after that. It sounded nice though.

They still have the subscription with a bunch of comics that are accessible

But yeah they have changed where they also have the pay per episode model for comics that are already hosted on other platforms it seems

It's still worth it for me.

They also have some novels that I haven't been able to find anywhere else, that also requires you to pay extra for them but it's nice to finally have more novels translated

But what about finishing series? The final c amount of episodes are pay walled unless you are lucky enough to get enough gift passes

I ended up dropping Tapas a few years back for basically that exact reason, yeah. It’s neither a user- nor creator- nor consumer-friendly platform.

It’s still wild to me how there isn’t a single platform doing for manhwa what some companies are doing for manga, too. There’s clearly a market for it with how Webtoon and Tapas alone have large audiences, and how litigious publishers like Naver are about piracy.

For example, Viz has a Shounen Jump subscription at ~$3/month USD with 100 chapters/day access, or a general Viz subscription at ~$2/month. Shueisha’s got Manga Plus subs at ~$2-5/month for access to their catalogs, too. There’s a few more like ComiXology and Mangamo, even. Where’s that energy for manhwa, publishers?

Is it good or bad to publish on both Line Webtoon and Tapas?

Posted by Icedragon28 · in r/webtoons · 3 years ago

I heard some people recommending publishing on both, but I don't know if it is really a good idea. First, I don't know if it is allowed to publish on more than one website, or if I will get banned from both. My other concern is if it will divide my readers and I end up not having enough readers on either website to make money from the add revenue program.

I think it's a good idea, many creators do it. As long as it's on their self-publishing platforms then there's no rule against it. It also means you can pull readers from both platforms, rather than be limited to a single one.

Webtoon increasing its ads?

Posted by janosima · in r/webtoons · 2 months ago
post image

Given the increase in ads on Webtoon and other platforms, and the consequent increase in complaints from readers accustomed to never paying for anything, I think the other point of view should also be expressed:

I'm a reader, and yes, I too wish everything in the world were magically free, but I'm also an adult human being capable of thinking, and I easily understand that a platform and its thousands of artists whom I enjoy for FREE need to make a living and earn money somehow.

And since I'm a bit of a stingy-minded person (like the people who complain) because I don't financially support almost any of these artists on Patreon or in any other way, I find it perfectly logical and acceptable for platforms to invent simple ways, like placing ads, to make money for themselves and the artists, because without money they can't work or live, and the art we love to enjoy for FREE wouldn't exist. And between paying them with my meager money or simply watching a few-second ad in each episode, I prefer the ad. Especially knowing, as I do, that the artist I'm reading for free is going to get a good percentage of that ad.

Anyway, let's think a little about the creators and be less selfish, because for now, we still live in a world where adults need money to live, and for what matters to us: to continue creating comics. Let's help.

As a Webtoon artist with few readers and no financial support (but who aspires to achieve them someday), I thank you for your kind words on behalf of all the artists who publish our works for free on these platforms, or on Patreoon, or on simple blogs. It's a hard life, and I wish there were more understanding people like you; we'd all benefit. Thank you so much, pal.

My webcomic, by the way, maybe you like it: https://www.webtoons.com/en/canvas/the-legend-of-parvaterra/list?title_no=28648

Thank you for saying this. We all know capitalism is a drag, but it is the current system that many of us live in. Let's all be adults and understand that artists need money to live.

Totally agree. It’s really not a big deal, and I just wish more readers understood how much even small things like this can help creators 😭
Of course it’s okay to dislike ads, but if you want to see more from a creator you love, this kind of support really does make a difference.

tapas vs webtoon monetization

Key Considerations for Tapas vs. Webtoon Monetization

  1. Monetization Models:

    • Tapas: Primarily uses a "coin" system where readers purchase coins to unlock episodes. Creators earn a share of the revenue based on the number of coins spent on their content. Tapas also offers ad revenue sharing and a premium program for creators.
    • Webtoon: Offers a similar model with a "coin" system for unlocking episodes. Creators can earn money through ad revenue, and Webtoon has a "Canvas" program for independent creators, allowing them to monetize through ad revenue once they meet certain criteria.
  2. Audience Reach:

    • Tapas: Generally has a smaller but dedicated audience, which can lead to a more engaged reader base.
    • Webtoon: Has a larger global audience, providing more exposure but also more competition among creators.
  3. Content Control:

    • Tapas: Offers more flexibility in terms of content control and allows creators to set their own prices for episodes.
    • Webtoon: Has specific guidelines and restrictions on content, which may limit creative freedom.
  4. Payment Structure:

    • Tapas: Creators receive payments based on the coins used by readers, with a minimum payout threshold.
    • Webtoon: Payments are based on ad revenue and can vary significantly depending on traffic and engagement.
  5. Community and Support:

    • Tapas: Has a supportive community with various resources for creators, including contests and promotional opportunities.
    • Webtoon: Offers a large community with extensive resources, but the competition can be intense.

Takeaway: If you prioritize creative control and a dedicated audience, Tapas might be the better choice. However, if you're looking for a larger audience and potential for higher earnings through ad revenue, Webtoon could be more advantageous. Consider your goals, the type of content you create, and where you think you’ll find the best engagement.
