What Redditors are Saying

How to Remove Eyelash Glue from Your Eyelashes

TL;DR Use oil-based removers or natural oils such as coconut or olive oil, combined with gentle rubbing and steaming techniques.

Oil-Based Removers and Natural Oils

Several users recommend using oil-based makeup removers or natural oils like coconut oil, olive oil, or castor oil to effectively loosen eyelash glue [1:2][2:1][4:1]. Applying a generous amount of oil directly onto the lashes can help dissolve the adhesive. It's suggested to leave the oil on for a few minutes before gently wiping it off with a warm washcloth [2:1].

Steaming Techniques

Using steam can enhance the effectiveness of the removal process. Covering your eyes with a warm, wet washcloth after applying oil can help break down stubborn glue [2:1]. A steamy shower combined with a cleanser may also aid in loosening the glue [5:5].

Gentle Rubbing and Tools

When removing glue, it's important to avoid aggressive scrubbing, which can damage your natural lashes. Instead, gently rub along the lash line with a cotton bud or fingertip [3:1]. Using a clean spoolie to coax out remaining glue can be effective if done carefully [4:2].

Alternative Methods

If traditional methods aren't working, some users have found success with unconventional solutions like lotion [5:3]. While not ideal, it can soften the glue without causing irritation. However, caution is advised as different adhesives may require specific removers [2:2].

Considerations Beyond the Discussions

While these methods are widely recommended, always check the adhesive's instructions for any specific removal guidelines. If you suspect using a more permanent adhesive by mistake, consider purchasing a specialized remover designed for lash extensions [2:3].

ORIGINAL POST

Hii, i’m a 17 year old girl, and i wore lashes yesterday, and i haven’t worn any in a while. I use the kiss strip lash adhesive and i believe i put to much on as i now have some stuff on my eyelashes and when i try to pull it out with my hands or a tweaser it really hurts. What are some easy ways to remove eyelash glue from the natural lashes.

Do you have anything mild you could use to remove it? Remover wipes? Micellar water? Makeup remover? You could even try coconut oil

CommonEarly4706 · 8 months ago

Are you sure you didn’t use a more permanent adhesive? I would be getting in the shower and try getting warm water over your eyes to try and gently remove it

i feel asleep when I came home it was late, it was my first time falling asleep with lashes on. 🥲 :(

That shouldn’t make a difference. I wear lashes all day everyday and never have a problem if I wear them a few hours or 24 hours

my lash glue won't come off and im starting to panic

Posted by celestia1s · in r/MakeupAddiction · 3 years ago

i made the mistake of applying lash glue to my eyelid instead of my falsies bc i thought it would be easier that way. now im paying for it bc my eyelashes are clumped from glue and my eyelid is still sticky after i used makeup remover, aquaphor, steam, face wash, and an oil based cleanser, after i wiped gently, i soaked, and scrubbed my eyelids aggressively. after all that, it's STILL THERE. i can't get it off and im starting to freak out 😭😭😭😭😭😭

im considering rubbing alcohol at this point even though i might go blind or something from it. please help 😭😭😭😭😭😭

What brand did you use and what is the specific glue called? Have you tried looking for "'product name' removal"? I'm so sorry this is happening to you, but I think people might be able to help you more if we know which one it is!

Try not to scrub! Vaseline (aka petroleum jelly) or coconut oil will remove the most stubborn lash glue. Just slap a thick layer on and cover it with a warm wet wash cloth for a few minutes. The steam from the wash cloth will help the glue break down!

i did that with aquaphor, didn't help and im starting to think these mfs are selling gorilla glue instead of lash adhesive 😭

Is this your first time using this eyelash glue? I'm wondering if you might have bought lash extension glue/permanent lash glue by accident. If so, you would need to purchase a special remover.

2 upvotes on reddit
SubstanceOwn0 · 3 years ago

Oh man I’ve done that before. I usually let it dry and then pick off what I can when it’s gummy. you can try a q-tip dipped in a little bit of olive oil and gently rub along your lash line to loosen it up and then pick off the clumps. All of it may not come off right away and may gradually migrate and clump up in the corner of your eye, but then just pick it out.

Micellar water/makeup remover - use a little dish to drop em in for a few minutes, then rub the band gently with a fingertip or cotton bud. Rinse.

Oil based cleansers (even Pond's cold cream) is an option, you could use one of those just on the band and then rinse. But actual oil will take soap and rubbing to fully remove after, and might damage the lashes. If there's any oily residue glue won't apply well the next time you try and use them 🤔

I like to massage cleansing oil right on to my lashes, really well, then wipe off with a steamy-hot washcloth. Anything that really sticks around, I "coax" out of my lashes with a clean spoolie, doesn't pull out your lashes as long as the glue is soft, and not built up (I do this every night).

An oil-based makeup remover or even just straight oil (I like squalane or argan, but whatever you have should work, even baby oil or olive oil) loosens glue well for me. Just dab a little on and gently rub until the glue sluffs off. Then follow with your normal cleanser.

Do you have access to a makeup remover or cleanser from a drugstore? Put some on a paper towel and pinch your lashes and do a little rub but don’t pull, just dissolve a little glue layer by layer. Hope this helps!

that worked the best outta everything i tried!! that and cleanser got it out of the most built up areas (reapplied glue bc somehow my lash didn’t stick lol) and lost three eyelashes in the process. but hey, inner corners clean now

How can I get glue off my false eyelash band?

Posted by FreezingDickBalls · in r/beauty · 6 years ago

I have a thick mess of glue on my expensive eyelashes. I picked most of it off, but there is still a lot left. Is there an easier way to get it off? I tried soaking in make up remover before I picked it off, but it just made it more gooey.. didn’t really loosen it up.

Did you use the glue specified by the lash brand? Not all of them have recommendations, but if they're expensive I assume they have a preferred bonder.

If not, maybe try searching the glue product online, and see if they have some sort of unique solvent needed.

Finally, if you're hitting a dead end, keep using gentle removers and cleansers. What type of material are the eyelashes made of? In the past I've had luck with soaking in witch hazel and using tweezers to help peel residue off.

Also, when they're damp, be sure to lay them out to dry in a position that will help them continue to maintain their shape! <3

I use anything that works like an oil. Liquid that has a two layer liquid that you have to shake or something that is designed to melt makeup like the Clinique take off the day balm.

A make-up removing towel (not a wipe but those special towels are amazing), make-up removing soap, and patience. I scrub like you would polish silver, very gently. The skin around your eye is delicate, and you don't want to irritate it or cause wrinkles.

I feel your pain! I actually wear strips every day because I hate my natural lashes, so I deal with this a lot. I’ve used a few eye specific makeup removers that have worked well in the past, but most of the time if I get warm water on a makeup eraser towel and kind of soak/hold it on my eye for 2 minutes or so, it kinda of loosens it up so I can gently rub or peel it off. I usually do one eye at a time while I watch TV. Interested to see if there are any other suggestions that come through!

You have to use oil!

If you have an oil-based makeup remover or lash remover that will work, but so will plain old coconut oil.

Works super fast, within 2 minutes!

How to remove eyelash glue from your eyelashes

Here are some effective methods to remove eyelash glue from your eyelashes:

  1. Oil-Based Makeup Remover:

    • Use an oil-based makeup remover or coconut oil. Apply a small amount to a cotton pad and gently press it against your eyelash line for a few seconds to dissolve the glue.
    • Wipe away gently, avoiding pulling on your lashes.
  2. Micellar Water:

    • Soak a cotton pad with micellar water and hold it against your lashes for a few moments. This can help break down the glue.
    • Gently swipe the pad downwards to remove the glue.
  3. Warm Water:

    • Soak a clean cloth in warm water and place it over your eyes for a few minutes. The warmth can help soften the glue.
    • Afterward, gently wipe your lashes with the cloth.
  4. Baby Oil or Olive Oil:

    • Similar to oil-based removers, baby oil or olive oil can effectively break down the adhesive. Apply a small amount to a cotton swab and gently rub it on the glued areas.
  5. Avoid Rubbing:

    • Be gentle and avoid rubbing or pulling on your eyelashes to prevent damage or loss.

Important Tips:

  • Always perform a patch test with any product to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction.
  • If you experience irritation or if the glue doesn’t come off easily, consider consulting a professional for assistance.
  • Regularly cleaning your lashes can help prevent buildup and make removal easier in the future.

Recommendation: Using an oil-based remover is often the most effective and gentle method for removing eyelash glue without damaging your natural lashes.
