I'm having the same problem. Now I have to wait 6 hours to request a new code.

I got the same message today. Deleting and re-installing the app worked for me. It restored my conversations and media from the cloud and everything works like it did before.

This may have happened because I bought a new iPhone... I've had lots of issues with the transfer of apps and data...

For anyone interested it magically worked today. None of the suggestions helped - but I just tried daily and three days it ended up working

lots of people facing this issue , my suggestion is to uninstall app for a day , restart phone , turn airplane mode on and off , and maybe run virus scan , if still unable to login , complaint to WhatsApp team via email or the website , and hope the next update solve this issue

Whatsapp bans the use of Google Voice numbers for new account verification. Google has no control over that.

This started in November. We've had dozens of posts from users trying to sign up for Whatsapp, and Whatsapp isn't accepting their Google Voice numbers. I assume those who are replying here already have Whatsapp.

Request a call for verification, and then after a couple seconds check the spam folder for the recording.

Wifi Calling. If she's going to use WhatsApp, she needs to have either wifi or cell signal anyways. And if she lives in a place with no cell signal (but has wifi), I'd sure hope she has wifi calling, otherwise what are you spending money on service for?

For verification, one of the requirements is a government ID. There’s literally no way around it. Even if you did the Facebook thing, that won’t replace the ID. The Facebook part isn’t even a requirement, it’s just an additional step you can take. There’s 3 requirements to get verified - Verified Email, Verified SMS, and Verified Government ID. If you don’t have those 3 things, you can’t get verified. Sorry.

You don’t usually have to verify your account to purchase. There are some purchases that might require it, like if you are buying something that’s been Authenticated through Mercari then you need a verified account to buy that. As far as I know, that’s the only kind of purchase that requires verification. Though, some buyers might choose not to sell to buyers that don’t have their accounts verified (if that’s the case, make sure the seller is the one that cancels and doesn’t make you do it because that’s their choice to cancel because of that).

It happened to me once, I was trying to restore the back up to a new phone, the new phone got set to a different google account which held no back up, so i had to uninstall and reinstall, but i got banned after several trials, for like 48 hours

I don’t think there’s a set limit but, just to be on the safe side, why not use a burner SIM? Or borrow one from a friend to “test drive” the phone?

You should be fine with switching about 5 times in a short period of time, after that they don't allow to send sms anymore, but they still allow you to be called, after a few times that also gets blocked for 8 or 24 hours, so indeed a burner sim is a better idea

You don't have any option other than wait. Some times restarting phone works. It notifies your operator. Other than that you can't do anything about this. If you leave it as it is then it will notify you when next core request window opens.
