Increased Interest in Customization and Unique Features
The luxury watch market is seeing a growing interest in watches that offer customizable features and unique designs. This trend is evident from discussions around watches with colorful dials and various numeral options, such as those offered by brands like Tissot and Longines [1:3]. Consumers are looking for watches that stand out and reflect their personal style, moving away from traditional tool watches and towards more personalized timepieces.
Rolex and Other High-End Brands Maintain Popularity
Rolex continues to be a highly sought-after brand, with models like the Explorer being praised for their classic design and wearability [5:2],
[5:3]. Despite the high price point, Rolex remains a symbol of luxury and status, and many collectors express a desire to own one at some point in their collecting journey
[5:1].
Emergence of New Collectors and Changing Buying Habits
There is a noticeable shift in the buying habits of new collectors who are increasingly focused on building diverse collections rather than accumulating numerous watches without purpose [1:7]. The emphasis is on acquiring pieces that are meaningful and enjoyable, rather than simply amassing a large quantity of watches
[1:8].
Security Concerns in the Second-Hand Market
The second-hand luxury watch market is experiencing heightened security concerns, with buyers being advised to take precautions against scams [2:1]. This includes verifying sellers through custom timestamps or video calls to ensure authenticity before making purchases, reflecting the need for increased vigilance in online transactions.
Preference for Versatile and Wearable Designs
Consumers are gravitating towards watches that offer versatility and comfort, such as the Rolex Explorer, which is noted for its timeless appeal and practicality [5:4]. This trend highlights a preference for watches that can be worn daily and across different settings, balancing both form and function.
Ah, the Rolex, Omega and IWC’s in the $2k price range didn’t speak to him.
Yeah he probably just got the Rolex watch box or magazine based on his preferences. No diver, no GMT, no chrono, no tool watch, no dial, no hands, no bracelet.
Bro emanates tool vibes but wants non-tool vibes.
Lists that he wants a watch with no rotating bezel but does with roman numerals (basically a classic dresswatch) but it should be colourful (not a classic dresswatch). Bro doesnt know what he wants lol. And with a 2k budget the salespeople at Rolex, JLC, and Breitling will laugh their ass off
there are a lot of watches that have colorful dials and arabic or roman numerals. from the tissot ballade with a green dial to some longines conquest models, the rolex datejust or pilot watches that dont look like tool watches and dont have a chronograph.
This shit is everything that's wrong with the watch "community". Guy literally is just spending money for the sake of spending money at this point. Doesn't even know anything or have an opinion, just "I have money Reddit please just tell me what to buy, I must consume luxury goods".
The thing is collectors are different than people who have a box of 50 watches. A collector just buys pieces over time that they enjoy. There’s no reason to have 50 watches that you will never wear that’s just a shopping addiction.
If you don’t like a watch sell it then buy another watch that’s how I look at it. You have folks who have 50 watches and they have been “collecting” for 2 months. The goal is to build up a diverse collection of watches instead of buying up a jcpenny.
Lot of folks hate hearing it but that’s the truth you will appreciate the hobby more if you treat it as a hobby not a consumer shopping addiction. Quality over quantity.
Don't take away half the posts from that sub lol

ATTENTION BUYERS: Scammers are stealing established accounts! Ask any seller, regardless of transaction count, for a custom timestamp of your choosing. The best option is a video call to prove the seller has the watch before sending money as it can't be faked. If a seller refuses or you encounter any red flags, please message the mods and include screenshots of your conversation.

Looking forward to the follow up wedding shots with this hanging out
Very nice present.
My wife got me a spring drive, too :) enjoy it, and sell your other watches you don’t need them. lol
HAHA I was just thinking the same thing
Does you fiancé have a boyfriend?
Happy birthday! What a great fiancé!
A field watch, not a "filed" watch 😊. It is still filled! But beautiful 🙏🏻
Fat fingers
Watch plus band combo is amazing!
I was able to buy a new old stock bracelet for exactly this watch on eBay. It doesn't have the quick release but otherwise works great. I did have to clean it with a cheap ultrasonics machine.
Pilots watches look so much better on a leather strap!
I got the 43mm Pilot with bracelet but they did have either a leather strap or rubber strap with a deployment buckle as an option. Great watch!
Explorer is very wearable. 39mm?
40 mm
Don't own a Rolex but if I did, this is the model I'd get. Very nice.
I love my 40mm Explorer. I honestly wish I'd come to it much sooner in my collecting days and saved myself a fortune.
Yeah. I've never been a serious Rolexhead, but that model Explorer is a perfect watch.
Of course. It’s a classic. Congrats!
There is no better upgrade than this!
Well, that's understandable.
Starting with the macro, Don Durrett, gold and silver mining stock analyst at goldstockdata.com, and John Feneck, CEO of Feneck Consulting Group, explain why they see the 15-year bull run winding down and outline the market trends investors should watch to capture upside.
With market volatility on the horizon, now is not the time to chase risk assets, but rather to focus on safe havens like gold and silver. Greg Johnson, CEO and Chairman of Metallic Minerals (TSXV: MMG | OTCQB: MMNGF | FSE: 9MM1), shows why the company’s projects, located in favorable jurisdictions and showing promising mineralization, may be positioned to help expand future mineral supply.
He highlights two projects: the La Plata copper-silver-gold project in Colorado, USA, and the Keno Silver project in Canada’s Yukon Territory. He also covers the company’s history, strategic financing, strong backing, and other factors that could position Metallic Minerals for significant growth:

If the 15-year bull run really is winding down, selective miners like this might be the next best play.
Love the suede boots. I have a similar pair and must dig them out now the summer’s over.
This is crazy, I bought these boots like 2y ago as an experiment! I have no idea how I survived 40y without such comfortable and versatile boots!
I know. I’ve virtually the same pair I think - certainly the same colour, which goes with anything. Will post a pic when I get a chance.
This is what I wanna see.
Thx 🙏
Tired of no effort looks and thirst traps.

Where did you get that leather strap? Looks amazing!
> it's inspired by the U.S. governement Mil-Spec (MIL-W-3818B) design.
I didn't realise how legible that face design was until I got one on my wrist (Steeldive SD1944). A very pleasant surprise.
Every time I think of going up market I see something like this and wonder why I would ever do that.
I see this for around $60 - can you share the link for $37? Dm me if you don’t want to share here please.
edit - found it. I was looking for ML08, this is ML05 and are priced right around what you shared. Thanks!
I had the same itch and picked this beauty up for ten bucks off Amazon.
I have a Hamilton KFM and picked up an ML05 just out of curiosity. It compares very favorably. The crystal, dial, screw-down crown, case finishing, and smooth second hand sweep are all way better than one should expect at this price.

I just watched the exceptional “Hidden Blade” and I had to pause the movie half a dozen times to Wikipedia something. Made me think about this Nate Bargatze quote.
Is there a period drama that made you realize, “wow, I really know nothing about this fascinating, complicated and/or devastating part of history”?
Bonus points if you’d recommend it above just the educational aspect!
The Republican Era in Chinese History can be confusing as heck. Most dramas that are set in that time are spy dramas. Wang Yibo’s series War of Faith (2024) was also good.
My favorite of that time period is The Disguiser.
Easier to follow — and easier on the nervous system — is the romance series Arsenal Military Academy.
Yeah, I’ve learned so much I didn’t know before from dramas.
This is excellent! I will definitely check those out.
Korean drama Seoul 1945 . Covers the end of the occupation by Japan until the end of the Korean War . It covers a rich family and a poor family in this period .
Best K war drama i have seen, it has moments of happiness, joy, tragedy and pathos . Makes you really feel for the South Koreans .
Related I found out how little a friend of mine knew when season 3 of The Crown dropped and he got mad at me for revealing ‘spoilers’ when I started talking about Charles having the affair with Camilla. My dude, it had been 30 years! They’re married now!
Reminds me of when The King came out and people didn't want to be spoiled FOR THE BATTLE OF AGINCOURT
Surely not lol.
That is too precious lol. Reality is your spoiler, my guy.
Pachinko
Recently been reading Hardacre saga while watching the show, the book covers the Boer war which had me realizing I dont know much about that one
The New Look. I didn’t know much about fashion houses, I especially didn’t know about just how caught up Coco Chanel was with Nazi stuff
Finally I have to say “World on Fire” and “The New Look” really opened my eyes to what Nazi occupied Paris/France was like. I realized I never questioned what “Parisians surrendered to save the city” really meant. I would love to learn more stories of resistance in Nazi occupied France.
Oooh these are great ones. I also didn’t know much about the Korean immigrant experience in Japan so Pachinko was great for that. Still know nothing about the Boer war so I will check that out.
Coco Chanel was THE WORST.
I am dying for more French resistance stories, too! Just resistance stories throughout Nazi occupied territories in general. I just recently watched “Number 24” on Netflix and literally had no idea there was a whole Norwegian resistance movement. All these stories get such short shrift in our (US) history books.
Not France but Netherlands: I’ve watch a movie called Black book a couple of years ago about a woman in the resistance during that time infiltrating the Dutch gestapo
For France there is a TV show called “a French village” (with actress Audrey Fleurot) that is about that time. She also plays in “Les combattantes” available on Netflix.
Chanel is even worse when you compare her to Christian Dior, whose own sister (the inspiration for Miss Dior parfum) was a member of the Resistance who was arrested and tortured by the SS.
Any Joseon kdrama has me partnering with Wikipedia.
Also anything happening in Latin America. I watched Like water for chocolate and had to google a lot to understand the Mexican revolution. Same when I watched One hundred years of solitude
